S.We have eaten there a few times now. Staff generally super friendly. The carvery is always delicious and well priced. Off the menu, the chicken was dry and the ham a huge disappointment. The decor is charmingly quaint, although some of the seats sag uncomfortably.
O.Great old school pub food. Usually we spend more just getting takeaways so nice to have a nice warm roast cheaper than takeaways. Will be here once a week! Thanks

T.I get the impression mostly just locals go here especially for the bar. The food is generous, simple and good value. I found a table with a socket for charging me e-board while I had dinner.

N.Its a hotel, a pub, and a carvery. We went for dinner and were well happy. Just wholesome pub food at a good price. Everything with chips, some with chips and salad, and they do a perfect roast dinner.
The staff were happy, engaging, friendly, and helpful.

V.Stopped at The Union for lunch on our way down south. We most enjoyed the True authentic kiwi pub experience. No pretence just great food, good portions and excellent southern hospitality. If Rosemary’s vegetable soup is available I strongly recommend it. The tap beer was cool and refreshing. Plenty of parking outside especially if in a camper. Sometimes it just pays to off the main track a little to find these gems! It’s definitely on our must do list if go back.

L.Not the flashiest but has the real west coast vibe and hospitality was first class the cooks wee Loud Brassy generous to our child and also knew how to cook. 5 stars if that is what you want if you want the shiny tourist experience with the food served in a bread board go to the so called brewery down the road if you want to warm your tummy with good food go here
J.Ordered meal at 6 45 but didn't tell us there were no salads left. The lady said she could top up a sad looking lettuce salad.

J.Basic rooms, but that was all that we wanted! Nice and clean though with friendly staff (the "old girls" in the kitchen are cheeky, but in a good way) and great food. Will have to stay there for the next bike ride down south!

A.Been eating there since I was a little kid! Great memories, great food! If you are looking for hearty, traditional style kiwi meals then this is the place.
W.I find the staff very helpful in the restaurant and the meals are very good and well priced. The only bad experience I have had is after travelling more than an hour to get there for lunch which is 12-2 they ran out of roast meat at 12.45
R.Old school roast meals......locals love the union roasts......oh and make sure you get the soup......its a local legendarily condiment that sends you back to the 70s. Awesome place to hang out when theres an event on in town like the street racing.🛵🛵🛵
