What a welcoming and homey experience! Staffs are very very friendly and welcoming. Quality price also. You actually get more than what you paid for in here. Definitely check out their food. It was cheap but super tasty I still couldn’t believe it how they do it! One thing I should mention is that this place is not new, however it’s well maintained and is clean. Definitely recommend!

Was so glad to see this place after a long cycle and even happier once we ordered. Loads of parking, clean toilets, cold beer and best of all the food was delicious. Home cooked and by far the best kumara fries I've had in NZ. This is an amazing little tavern with friendly locals and staff, pool tables and just an overall good vibe.

Cheap and cheerful!!! Friendly locals, charming staff, home cooked meals, cold beers, accommodation wing attached with comfortable room/beds and shared bathroom and kitchenette facilities down the hallway. It isn't fancy but it is clean, affordable and welcoming. Exactly what we were looking for after a long, hot day on the road.

Turns out this tavern is our local! Great atmosphere and lovely people. Food was good and plenty of it for two people and they have Lion Red!

We did the Te Ara Ahi Trail and stayed here 2 nights. We got Rotorua Taxis to pick us up with our bikes to take us the starting point at Rotorua I Site. The rooms, toilets and showers are clean and the whole place smells good. No dust, no cobwebs, nothing tacky and gross. The sheets, blankets and towels were crisp and clean. We arrived late and our room was already prepared and fan on - it’s was awful hot. Tea, coffee, toast and spreads for bfast. I found the cereals in the cupboard as I was cleaning up plates last day. Meals at the Tavern are AMAZING!! Wedges, lamb shanks and burgers is what we had. Locals are super friendly. Nice cold beer after a 40km ride You have the petrol station, dairy and coffee shop and the Arataki Honey right beside Second day we went up Rainbow Mountain Summit, Waimangu Thermal Valley and you Waikite Thermal Springs - all within a ten minute drive from the Tavern. There are plenty to see and do around Waiotapu area At $70 a night this is a super good bargain and I would certainly stay again - that’s why 5/5 for me. Cons: right on the State Highway 5, you are literally sleeping on the highway. If you’re not used to noise you need earplugs or another solution But shabby and rundown on the outside - but the inside is very clean, smells good and is inviting

Came in here, i called from taupo to say we would be cutting it fine before the kitchen shut on the Saturday night, we got there, just in time, I ordered the steak, wow. Somebody here is getting a bit sneaky, as that wasnt an average pub cook up, that was a top ten steak, it was perfect, cooked to perfection, I'm still thinking about it right now, a steak with nothing wrong, is unheard of, and the side of mushrooms, it should be not on the menu, nobody does mushrooms that good, whoever is cooking this up needs to come clean, as you cant keep this a secret!!

Decent, well accessible place to spend the night with your camer van. They have a hot shower and plenty to eat and drink inside. We didn't have a meal so I can't judge that. The rules posted on the door do give it that trucker / biker hangout feel. Which usually means the music and clientele are relaxed.

Clean toilets but a little old. Shower constantly changed temperature from cold to really burning hot. But it's free, so... friendly staff who delivered the food to our table, but then the quality of the food was very low. Parking for campervans a little tight, would have preferred some more defined places. WiFi does not cover the camping area. Could have been done with a simple cheap WiFi extender. Drunk guest leaving by car and driving really fast on driveway. But then we where allowed to use the power outlets inside and sit everywhere we wanted, again really friendly.

Had a good night's sleepin our campervan here, friendly service and a great cold beer from the tap. We had a falafel and hummus burger and enjoyed it really well. The fries were only fried once, which is not so great (then again, we're just spoiled when it comes to fries in Belgium).

We ended up eating here as there was not much around. Burgers and fries were good, everything else was average. Beer was cheap only $5.8 for a mug of wild buck. Fish and chips menu was very cheap, massive bowl of fried only for $4, batter fried fish $3 :O Bar was full of Bikies on Sunday. Service and staff lady was really lovely.

Had a massive yet delicious burger. I ordered double meat burger (if I'm not mistaken) with fries as side and small beer and only cost me $14.90. Super fulfilling, I almost couldn't finish it (I came super hungry coz I was walking from Waiotapu to the tavern). The people here were so friendly.

The food was great! We got burgers and fries--the portions were generous, the food cooked to perfection, and the service was friendly throughout! This was a great break after a few hours of hiking the thermal park.

Food and drink was tasty, portions were good. Pricing was odd however. It seems they have a loyalty program? But the prices advertised are for that, so when I ordered a beer, I paid more than expected. Best to double-check prices when you order.

Great place to rest your head for the night. We were travelling through and were after someone to stay that had a restaurant too so we were able to have a drink without worrying about having to drive back anywhere. Very reasonably priced with large portions for dinner and lovely friendly staff. Not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination but exactly what's needed for a quick stop off on your way through where you can get your head down for the night.

Utilized the campervan parking that Waiotapu Tavern offers and couldn't have been more pleased. There is only 1 toilet and 1 shower for the roughly 20 campervan capacity, but the toilet is clean and the shower is nice and hot! Very thankful for the workers who maintain the area for travelers such as myself.

Best seafood basket for lunch ever! Get there at midday and play a couple of games of pool and have a pint while waiting for your seafood, oysters, mussels, fish, scallops, just magic, lightest batter, very yum. And have an ice cream sundae later. Five stars.

Realy nice lady at the bar showed us where to park. There is a more or less warm shower, toilets, a roofed area with tables and power to cook or hang out and ofc the bar where you can buy beer and cheap food (2$ for chips)! For 20$ a site (as many ppl as you can fit in your car /tent) its a really good deal!

Lady at the bar was nice. Let me try out a few types of mead and I bought a bottle. Good half way stop if you're on the way to Lake Taupo from Rotorua.

Das Bier ist günstig und die Bürger riesig :) Die Sanitäranlage ist nicht sonderlich sauber und wird abends auch gerne von den Gästen der Bar benutzt. Wir waren froh, das unser Camper ein eigens Bad hatte. Strom wird einem auf Anfrage auch zur Verfügung gestellt. Abends wird es etwas lauter und der Betrieb der Bar geht ziemlich lange. Mit Kindern würde ich hier nicht unbedingt campen aber für eine Nacht okay, zumal es echt lustig in Bar war.
