We had the 3 course lunch just the other day, the Dixie Fried Chicken Salad was to die for! The Brisket with mash potatoe and gravy was absolutely Devine and the burger looked amazing so will be trying that another time!

I had heard really good things before coming but had yet to make a visit myself. I can now say that I regret not coming sooner as the food here is amazing! The staff are all really lovely. We were served by a really nice waitress (whose name I have probably misremembered but I think it was Nixie so sorry!) who gave us great service!

3.5 if I could as the food was awesome but the scrappy unkept décor let it down. Met a couple of friends for lunch. Seems to be set up for functions, inside is like sitting in a large hall and outside is like a worn out courtyard (might be good at night time as there is lots of festoon lighting). All the food was great - especially the ribs (delicious) and the jalapeno cheese ball things.

Quality American style Barbecue smokey and delicious. I've been going to them since they were serving out of a backyard once a week and now they are the best food on Uber eats and still the place with the best vibes in Hastings if you're there in person.

Food was mostly delicious although the burgers really need some tweaking. Ingredients are tasty but way too wet and bun just ends up like a napkin in a swimming pool. Waitress seemed like she wasn't particularly excited about life or serving us. Value for money I think was OK. I see a few posts saying it's a bit overpriced, but given the effort and time that goes into the meat, I didn't think it was terribly expensive at all. But if you are going to be charging that much, your service has to be bang on, which is why I am giving a 3 star. The food itself was an easy four stars.

Food was tasty but certainly not the best barbeque we've had in NZ. Pork ribs were nice, the sides were all tasty, but the short rib was quite dry and tough. We placed quite a large order but many items were missing, a staff member did run after us at the car to give us some missing items, however once we got home we realised more were missing unfortunately. Great decor and lovely outdoor seating area, seems like a great place to eat in. Keen to give them another try though!

Feels and looks like you are in Texas from the moment you turn into the driveway, the restaurant design has captured that Texan border vibe really well. Lunch menu is not extensive but enough to choose from to give you the flavour and style of true TexMex food and dishes. What I had and everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked really good. Dinner menu has all the traditional tex mex slow bbq meats, ribs, brisket etc. Want to go back for dinner next time. Great service. Friendly staff. Overall big thumbs up 👍

Went with 5 friends for lunch last Friday. We all thought the food was delicious. I had cauliflower steak as main and seafood chowder for entee. Nicest seafood chowder I have ever had and the cauliflower steak was so tasty. Lovely staff and worth going if you want nice environment and lovely food.

Great place to go out for a beer and spareribs. We absolutely loved it. Nice atmosphere and good people. Spare ribs needed long time to come and had to go back to be cooked again, but then were yummy! Came back today, Sunday, April 14th 2019 Chilli Competition is great! Had nice Spareribs last night and enjoying the sun in the beautiful beer garden now! Great location!

The food was really good! Delicious and tasty. The music was slightly too loud though. The outdoor setting was rustic, but a bit tired and lacklustre. It did seem a great place for families, loads of kids were playing around the pond. The wait staff were really helpful and friendly. Although, their super casual attire combined with the tired outdoor setting sadly combined to make it seem all a little lowclass. Great great food though, and lovely staff.

Shared a lovely meal & time at the Bareknuckle Bar & Grill last night. Excellent service & efficant serving time from arrival to serving of our meals. A decent serving of our chosen meals & reasonable prices accordingly to each meal. All in all, very satisfied upon our choice of venue. And recommend it as a go to to dine at.

I highly recommend Bareknuckle Bar-B-Que, We ordered Dixie - southern fried Chicken salad, beef brisket burger, pulled pork nachos and chutney, cheesy garlic bread, whipped mash, fries and aoili. The meals were packed with exciting flavours especially in the meat, our order was for takeaway, my husband was so impressed with the restaurant layout and the space that he took a video recording to show me in our motel. Valdez motel owner, recommended to try Bareknuckles, so we did. This is a happy memory to take back to Gisborne and tell our family and friends. Thank you so much.

My partner, kids & I tried Bareknuckle BBQ recently. I must say, i loved the atmosphere, the decor & staff were really friendly and professional. The food was really good, only down side the brisket was abit cold but hey some things cant always be immaculate, it was really tasty anyway. The food was great. We had ribs. But... the wait staff walked past our table for over 15 minutes without offering to clear the table. I had to call a staff member over to ask for take home containers, which were then delivered to the table, but still no table clearing. It was another 20 minutes before our table was cleared. We were not offered further drinks nor desert. There were only 2 other tables. The only other time we were approached was to ge advised they were closing in 10 minutes. It was disappointing as I had looked forward to returning since last summer. A little table service goes a long way. We would've bought more drinks if they had been offered, and we would have considered returning in the future had they been more hospitable as the food really was great BBQ.

This was a great place to lunch and play some games at on a chilled saturday afternoon. We ordered all the snack dishes and had a feast. I had a lovely time eating the spicey dishes. My family stuck to the waffle chips and chicken strips. Great staff and good atmosphere with a lovely indoor outdoor flow and venue. Top marks.

The first few times we ate here, the food was amazing. It is American style barbecue which I'm clearly partial to. However, when we went there a year later, it was dry and very hit or miss. The service was good apart from the fact that it took a very long time to get any barbecue sauce. Much of the meat was dry apart from the chicken tenders which were good but not great. There were two different brands of jalapeño cheese balls, half of them were great and the other half were passable. I couldn't tell if they were still trying to be American style barbecue but failing or if they had given up and decided to provide the typically dry and flavorless fare that kiwis are used to. The chili still tasted good, but the iced tea was not. If I'd never been here before, I'd probably give it two stars, but my memories of their former splendor won't allow me to do that. Now, they've moved to a better location, I believe their consistency has improved.

I have been multiple times. I am a huge fan of the dixy chicken burger. So yummy. The staff are really welcoming and hospitable. I also appreciate how kind they are as I have a young son and their help was appreciated. The changing table in the toilet is extremely convenient. Would definitely recommend as aplace for a drink with friends or a family dinner out.

Not only is Jamie a great dude, but the meat is sensational. I'd recommend the pulled pork if there's only a chance to try one, but you should definitely try all the meats and if you don't then shame on you. Great Brissy institution that you can find at the best local breweries around town.

We felt the team were short staffed on the night and wait staff weren’t able to address our orders for food/drink within reasonable timeframes and when we wanted to order repeat drinks etc it took a while for us to wave someone down. The food was good once we got it!

Bareknuckle Bar-B-Que is a very atmosphere focused Restaurant. The premise is filled with American trinkets and religious artifacts on a shrine. The tables are BBQ tables, and make sense in the place. They have an open kitchen, and very friendly staff. I attended with a large Birthday group, and ordered the Scotch Fillet steak - Blue. The steak was well cooked, and the mushroom sauce was very tasty. The side salad was lovely and fresh, and the fries crispy and well seasoned. It did however take us over an hour to receive our food, which was slightly dis-heartening, particularly when we saw other large groups that arrived later being served before us. This may be due to our food choices taking longer, i'm unsure. The portion sizes were adequate, but not generous. I would attend Bareknuckle Bar-B-Que again if I was invited. And if you're big on Tex-Mex food, it's well worth a try.

Bareknuckle is a family-oriented place. We came in for a late lunch to celebrate Father's Day. We were a party of 2 adults & one 5-year old. We all loved the place and the food. Website was helpful. Menu posted online is up to date. It was busy but the staff made sure that we were attended to at all times. Highly recommend and will definitely come back. Hope to see churros in the menu! 😉

I had the jerk chicken. Beautifully cooked, moist chicken, spicy crispy smokey skin all the meals at our table well prepared and excellent service. If you want boiled ribs with sweet chilli sauce then don't come here go to McDonald's, but if you want tasty smokey flavours then I highly recommend bareknuckle BBQ

From a vegans perspective... Now I'm wishing to give a 2 star, which may look harsh, I settled for a 3 as my family actually had great meals and experiences. I see it as room for improvement. Being a vegan, I found the menu options at this very much meat on meat establishment to be very lack luster. But I can not not go to such places being the only vegan in my family. As a chef and a product developer myself, I find it really hard to fathom how a dish of Blackbeans and chilli (straight from a Delmaine can I presume, or other brand) can be heated and placed on top of store brought corn chips and sprinkled with a few spring onions can be deemed an acceptable representation of a vegan meal? Where is the imagination, creativity or skill in that? Now this dish was made vegan from a vegetarian option, which had sour cream and cheese as part of it, kind of was disappointing. I paid the same price as well. If it wasn't for the delicious Guacamole (a separate starter that I ordered) that I layered on top, the meal was lifted to a higher level of enjoyment. Thing is, vegan cheese and vegan/dairy free sour cream is a thing, ok a BBQ establishment may not want to stock such expensive options to be used once in a blue moon, but the cheese can be frozen. There is a Green Mean vege burger, which I think could be veganise, but I'm wise to what a brioche bun is, having cooked them for years in my chefing days, they are an egg and butter enriched yeast dough bread bun. A shame really, that burger sounded great. If there are any chefs out there needing vegan inspiration / meal guidance and tips, I'm here!

A lemonade (great !!) And a beer and everything 36 nzd. I loved the place !! (Original) Espectacular. Creo que es el lugar mejor puesto que vi en Hawkes Bay. La decoración es todo, realmente vale mucho la pena ir. Tiene varias opciones de platos, la estrella es el pulled pork y los precios igual que en todos lados.. pedimos una hamburguesa, unas papas (la porción de papas es gigante!) Una limonada (buenisima!!) Y una cerveza y todo 36 nzd. Me encantó el lugar!!
