Had our Anniversary Dinner here tonight. Dinner was prompt Delicious and a great price. Lovely Atmosphere. We will be back.

This was a good English/Irish pub inside and outside. The range of international beers were great and for me they had a real working hand pump with a Cornish real ale on (awesome). The food was good very tasty pies, the staff were very freindly a efficient. Well worth a visit we all enjoyed it, but then we are poms 😊

A typical english pub with a great atmosphere. Very nice seating area around an open fire. Great selection of beers with regularly three guest beers on tap which change a lot. Well drafted Guiness, Coopers and an english London Pride from the tap, to name a few beers. The Hofbräu wheet beer on tap is a great one and not often seen around here. The food is reasonably priced and fresh prepared with daily specials and typical pub dishes. They had a stir fry recently as well. There is a decent outside area in front of the pub and in the back. The back one has a nicer atmosphere to it. You can bring your dogs to the front outside tables. The pub provides fresh water for them as well. On Wednesday evenings there is irish singing. Overall, a very nice pub with an atmosphere just like in England. The staff is great and knows your favorites soon.

Shared a delicious meal with my family this evening and everything was fantastic. Can recommend the beef & guinness pie wholeheartedly, my wife had the seafood chowder which she said was fabulous,as was my in-laws' fish and seafood dishes. A reasonable meal which seemed slightly over-priced for the quality received. Our meals were slightly basic and the vegetables seemed over-cooked. Friendly service.

Fish (gurnard) and chips were epic and they have my favourite beer (Laganitas) we sat outside on the bench tables and enjoyed the sun as it went down but it got a little cool so nipped inside. Both great 👍

We were only in North Havelock for a few days as we were touring NZ and our Motel recommended the Rose and Shamrock and they weren't wrong. Great pub, excellent food, nice beers, fantastic service and all at reasonable prices. On top of that the staff were great as they made you welcome from the moment you arrived.

Great location with a relaxing atmosphere. Exceptional pub cuisine offering stomach filling portions. The steak and Guinness pie made fresh in house had to be one of the bestbpies I've enjoyed. Comfortable seating with enough room to feel like the next table are sitting in your lap.

Fantastic meal, we went for lunch Tuesday last week, meals were excellent, my husband ordered the Scotch steak meal, and still comments on it, the best steak he has had for many years, 10/10 to the chef, it was cooked to perfection, we have been to other places and when he's ordered the same, he always takes half home for our little dog, not this time, poor dog got none, if the rating went to 10 stars the chef would certainly get that.

A nice local pub just how I know them from the UK. Very spacious but still has a cozy atmosphere and the staff does amazingly even with big groups of people like us (a group of about 20). Snacks and food are delicious and beer on tap great!

Great comfort food! This place is super busy between 5pm and 7 so best to come after that. Serves good honest pub food. Deep fried seafood and steak dishes abound. A roaring fire upstairs and Guinness on tap.

We were driving around looking for a warm and family-friendly place to eat on the labour day Monday holiday. Not much was open... and then we stumbled on the best looking Irish pub we'd ever seen. Walking in it was buzzing, the fire was crackling and the beer was pouring. The food had an amazing aroma and I knew we'd made the right choice. We ordered the Beef and Guiness pie (pictured), chicken pasta special and a kids meal. The pie was golden on top, crunchy pastry that flaked off. Inside it was piping hot and full of Guiness flavour. One of the best pies I've ever had. The best part for families is the games cupboard. Filled with stuff for kids. They'll be entertained all night. Overall, a top family night.

I ordered a lamb dish and when it came out in was very rare. I know that most think that's the way to have it but I cannot eat rare meat. I took it back and asked for it to be cooked more. I was warned it could be tough but I was ok with that. When it came to the table it was just cooked through and still tender. I loved it. Great chef got it just right.

I was at this establishment in March 2012, so staff may have changed in the intervening time. However, at the time of my visit the food was first rate and the selection of beers was good. The best time to come to this establishment is probably on a Wednesday evening, when local musicians (and occasionally visitors from out of town like me) come together to play traditional Scottish and Irish tunes. This particular "sessiun" is strong on Scottish music, and for a "trad" musician like me this was a welcome change from the standard collection of Irish tunes that are played at most sessions. Putting my review in context: I am based in Milwaukee USA, and travel widely for business. I try to attend "sessions" wherever I go (bringing at least a whistle with me, sometimes a larger instrument as well), and The Rose and Shamrock stands out as the best among the many places that I have been.
