T.Waxy's Irish Pub is an institution in Invercargill. A very popular spot for a few drinks with friends or a good hearty Southland meal. Meals are tasty and overall pretty good. The seafood chowder is actually creamy and delicious and full of seafood, a bargain for the price compared to other restaurants near by. The pasta and bangers and mash were nice but averge, the loaded wedges were also very run of the mill and frankly disappointing. The chicken tacos are a treat and went down well.
Service was the biggest downfall, waitress seemed new, distracted and seemed stressed with her workload which meant simple items like soup spoons with the soup were missed. However 5 people and a drink $139 bucks. Very reasonable.
C.We walked past Waxy's and saw the sign for the NY's party with live music so we decided to come back later and check it out and we were not disappointed.
The staff were all friendly, helpful and quick. The atmosphere was very chill until about 11pm when it seemed like the whole of Invercargill was on the dance floor lol (but still lots of fun)
And the live band was 10/10 amazing!!

T.The pork bao buns are insanely good. Like seriously will be back tomorrow just for them. The guinness is also pretty damn amazing but it always is.
l.Great place for a feed and a beer, let down by staff to be honest. been a few times now and everytime the staff look poorly trained and no real awreness of real customer service. Not the Norm for an Irish bar. Feel bad giving 3 stars as the food has always been on-point - Maybe the chefs can serve the bar to !!!

j.Had the lamb burger.. superb ..frys had a garlic mayo dip , yummy .. nice on its own. Whole meal was really filling lamb patty cooked to perfection. Staff were really nice . Band comes on around 9pm . Highly recommend this place, hopefully my photos load.
H.Food is fabulous, but the overall experience was ruined by the security lady who is just rude and not just to customers, but to their own staff. Such a shame!

L.Great place. Beware tho if you want a Guinness. Some staff have no idea how to pour it properly. Returned one as bar staff poured it like a draught beer. Senior member replaced it and apologized.

G.It's not Ireland but it's the nearest to it that you'll find in Godzone. Happily the Southland climate is similar and the food & drink are a perfect match. Large portions. Great Guinness (and I've had many a pint of the black in Eire) and good crac. Recommended

P.A friendly place. Beer selection limited (it is an Irish Pub afterall) but staff was friendly. Bartender said the rib eye steak was great. I ordered it and it was terrible. My wife ordered chicken and it was very good.

G.Waitress was sullen towards table after a request was made to repour a Guinness as it had been done wrong. All staff present were shown how to do it so nobody was singled out.

A.The staff are great, the food was tasty (but you need to work on the calamari starter), loos are well kept. However, it's not an Irish bar it's a nice bar with a very light Irish theme to it.
A.A group of 10 of us booked for an evening meal over Easter. We arrived on time at 7:30pm, but they struggled to seat us. Apparently they had given our table away to some other group.
Then the real problems began - all up they took 90 minutes to serve us! The food was however quite tasty.
E.The staff were friendly and gave us good service. The meals are very generous. We had the platter for 2 that could easily feed 3.
