Went for a quick drink and food while in my trip from Auckland to Wellington. It was recommended by my friend for it good ambience, nice food and friendly service. Well, the recommendation was not wrong. Every cent spent was worthy. Kudos to its staffs (service staff for great hospitality and kitchen staff for great food). Definitely, will come back for food and beer served. My wife loved the vodka-based cocktail named Rose Bud and the BBQ pork ribs is a must try.

This place has a relaxing atmosphere. Big TV screens if you don’t want to talk to anyone and a decent drinks menu if you do. The steak and chips were well prepared. The salad was too bitter, but all praise to the chef even though our taste in salad differs. Thanks for soldiering on through covid. I’ll be back.

Last night my husband and I went down to The Butcher and Brewer to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. The staff were lovely and helpful. We ordered the pork belly which was absolutely amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection, we were both so impressed with our meal. I then ordered the chocolate bomb for desert, which I actually managed to take a picture of. This was incredible, and great to share with my wonderful husband. The hot chocolate melted the chocolate bomb and it was an amazing mixture of textures and flavours. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Thanks to the great team for making my anniversary dinner memorable ❤

Had a very enjoyable experience at The Butcher and Brewer. The food was incredible. The scotch fillet and crayfish was lovely but the dessert took the win! It was called chocolate bomb. It was honestly the best dessert I have had in a long time. All the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. I wish I remembered our servers name so I could tell their manager how fantastic they were. Thank you guys for a lovely dinner!

A good local gastro pub that prides itself on the quality of its food. Sunday brunch is nice with a range of protein-laden meals on the menu. Poached eggs on sourdough with a side of bacon hit the spot. The funky chicken burger with fries comes with chipotle or hot sauce with a kick. The coffee is just filter (no espresso) so be prepared if you’re after a caffeine hit. Excellent service from very friendly staff.

Stopped in for lunch 2 Jan 2022. The service was great. We were told they had started a new menu. The food was so tasty, hot, and we'll presented. The prices are very reasonable compared to similar establishments. I look forward to returning there again.

Just come home from a really lovely lunch, we have not been for a while and they had heaps of new things to try, the food was fantastic, I had read reviews about small portions etc but I can honestly say that we found the sizes really decent, and that is from 2 of my 'friends who love a decent plate. Everything was really delicious and we even had left overs. Nice selection of drinks, had everything we wanted and pleasant and timely service. What more can you ask for, Thanks Butcher and Brewer, you have never disappointed us.

We went out for a casual NYE dinner - and thoroughly enjoyed it! Haven't been there for a long time but was recommended so off we went. The food was fantastic and great value Great idea having Tapas alongside larger mains. Service really pleasant. The only resaon not 5/5 was we were told after booking that the kitchen would close at 7pm - we were booked for 6.30 and running slightly late, so felt a wee bit rushed. But overall - thoroughly recommend anyone gping here!!!

Overall a great night out - set menu for a team Christmas party. Catered excellently to allergens in regards to meals. The pork crackling was amazing! Only given 4 stars as feel they could use some refinement on the table service eg clearing plates all at once, offering extra drinks.... Also the medium rare steaks were more medium imho

The service here is amazing, we have a pregnant daughter who was asked very nicely from our waitress about how 'well cooked' she wanted her meal, if there was anything they needed to do to make sure it was ok etc for her to eat, never have we EVER been asked that anywhere else, and yes it may not be the responsibility of the restaurant, however what impressed us ultimately was she even asked! The rest of the staff were friendly and attentive to making sure everything and everyone was happy, absolutely loved being there and will definitely be back soon! And tye cost was also really reasonable for 4 adults 😊

I quite like the atmosphere here very relaxing & chilled. Wonderful place to just sit a chill not overly noisy. The staff here are pretty cool easy going also very friendly & easy to approach. There private function room here is nice an you can decorate how ever you like. Perfect for a small an intermediate gathering of about 20 people maybe a little more depending on table set up. There food here is also very good what I have had so far & reasonably priced as well not bad at all. I've had the Prawn Dumplings & Fish an chip's. The prawn dumplings are absolutely delicious an severed with a yummy spicy sauce absolutely enjoyed this meal.👌👌👌👌👌5 out of 5 Prawns for this meal 🍤🍤🍤🍤🍤 🙂 The fish & chip's were absolutely yummy to just a tiny bit fatty I'm sorry to say guy's an no salad. They thoroughly enjoyed the meal it was absolutely delicious they said 👌👌👌👌👌 so 5 out of 5 Stars for this meal ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Only seats available were out in the conservatory area and couldn't hear anything that the person next to me was saying due to the noise of the other patrons. The staff were very good and apologetic about the situation and it's because of this that I didn't rate lower than 3 stars.

Incredible staff, very atentitive and well presented. Best nachos I've come across and I've gone to alot of restaurants and they're nachos never compared. Eggs on toast my partner absolutley devoured. Outside area is very nicely situated would recommend this for an event, a nice dinner out or just a catch up with friends. Very good pricing for the quality of it aswell!

Fabulous food and great service. I had the squid which was perfect but a couple of the guys had the steak and the beef pie and I thought they were quite small servings to satisfy a male. Would definitely go back but would keep that in mind next time

We have a wonderful night at the Butchers and Brewers. The food was wonderful and the portion sizes very generous. Our waitress was bright and friendly - it was hard to believe it was only her second night there - top marks!

I have never dined here myself, but I paid for my parents to have lunch here yesterday. The feedback I got from them was that the staff were wonderful & the food was amazing! Cristal made the transaction of prepaying for the meal over the phone very easy. I was able to shout lunch in Petone from my home in Melbourne. Cristal also went the extra mile by sending me photos of my parents enjoying their meal. Great place, hopefully I'll get a chance to dine in when I get back there.

So pleased to discover the Butcher & Brewer Petone were open for contactless pickup during level 3. OMG I was not disappointed. The pork belly was cooked to perfection with lovely crisp crackling. Lamb shanks were so tender the meat was falling off the bone. Mashed potato and gravy was the best! Burger was enormous and the chicken scrumptious. Such good value for money and excellent service.

We popped in to check it out and their menu out because we were waiting for the bbq grill place to open across the road. We decided to eat here because of this mans service. Great food, price was standard, excellent service and we loved the vibe 10/10

Really nice ribs. Decent bbq flavour with no experimental ingredients. Massive bed of chips under massive slab of ribs and a jug of Monteith's all for $39. Bargain. The wings were crispy and seasoned well, the dipping bbq sauce for wings was great as well, nice tang. Overall good service, though we would have probably had another round of drinks or dessert had the wait staff asked us. Word of warning, the water pressure contained within the gents taps is MENTAL, use with caution, didn't know Kärcher made taps. Unfortunately I exited looking like I didn't quite make it.

Menu is decent but portion sizes for the prices charged are pretty disappointing. Very basic drink selection which is split over 2 separate menus, can be a bit confusing to have 3 different menus per table and seems like a waste of a resource (why not put this on 1 double sided piece?) Everytime I have been there, the staff seem very young, unprofessional and don't seem to support each other. The service is hit and miss, sometimes fast and sometimes slow, sometimes they forget orders also. Overall if they did more staff training, made things a bit cheaper and improved the menu design it would make a more pleasant dining experience

Overall good experience. Food was top notch at reasonable prices, was quick to arrive and great sized servings. Service was excellent. In fact on service alone I'd rate 5 stars. We have been here multiple times and have had good experiences each time EXCEPT our last meal here. DISCLAIMER - this is also a bar. It's no secret but it is easy to forget as we've never really experienced it as such. Each time we had been here previously many of the patrons drinking or attending to watch sports seemed to congregate in places away from the dining area. The last time we were here this was not the case. There was sport on the big screen (this was advertised so we were well aware) and there were patrons drinking very heavily who were very near to where we were eating. So much so that one gentleman had to be escorted out after a drunken argument with one of his cohorts. This made an otherwise great night at a great venue absolutely awful. It could have been avoided if there were separate areas for dining guests and bar patrons. All in all great but be mindful that it is a bar and also a venue to watch sports etc. Don't be surprised on a night or time of night (happy hour) where there might be people drinking heavily that it could be something that impacts your dining experience.

Nice place, very busy, but I ordered nachos, and was disappointed with the amount of mince. The menu says prime mince, but my plate had the chips, lots of sour cream, a small amount of cheese, and an even smaller amount of mince - about a tablespoon, if that!

We had a family celebration at B&B this weekend booked in the function room and it was absolutely brilliant. Service was on time, friendly, great environment, reasonably priced, accommodated all our needs. Family dined beforehand in the bar and loved their food. Could not recommend highly enough.

A lovely night with the family. Our waitress Bethany was great. Food was tasty, well presented and a great atmosphere. Only thing that stopped a 5 star was that bake beans are not Keto and none of the low carb beers were low carb, only low alcohol. All in all a great night. We will go again.

Although the price for a pint was a little steep, I'm still giving this bar five stars for the following reasons, 1. The bar tender was fantastic and lovely, & was more than happy to answer questions and demonstrate that the glass that looked much smaller than the standard pint was actually exactly the same, plus she had some really beautiful dreads. 2. The outdoor garden area is quite spacious and has a great seating set-up. 3. The bathroom facilities were big, smelt exponentially better than your usual bog on a Friday night, and were very clean & orderly. 4. Last but certainly not least the got chips and the garlic aioli.

A Nice Family Meal on a quiet Sunday evening. We were attracted to eat here on a Sunday by their noticeboard featuring Sunday Roast $18.00. We had our 2 grandchildren with us as we were babysitting while their parents were overseas. The children were very well catered for with a goodies bag and meal consisting of burger and chips followed by ice cream with chocolate sauce and a choice of cold drink. We had the last 2 Roast Pork meals available today and found the roast pork to be nicely cooked and flavoured. It was served as one very thick slice with a nice crackle on the outside and moist tasty pork. Unfortunately mine had a lot of fat that I cannot eat and there was a considerable amount of stuffing that neither my wife or I like or eat. The vegetables consisted of potatoes carrots and peas. There was no kumera and no apple source available. When we asked what other roast meats were used for the Sunday Roast specials we were disappointed to learn only Chicken and Pork were used. To summarize we enjoyed our meals and felt it was tasty and reasonably priced. However we would not make it a regular visit.

We were surprised with the selection of menu items. Also with the pricing. Cheap food, good food. The butcher and brewer have one fantastic outdoor area which offers plenty of sun on a good day. The service provided was great and we will likely go back again in the future. Highly recommended.

We ordered two fish and chips, described by the eaters as "nice", a royale burger, described as "OK" and two steak sandwiches. The steak sandwiches tasted good, however the steak was stone cold. After a few minutes of eating a waitress, who was possibly the manager, walked passed and who we flagged down. We advised that the steak sandwiches tasted good but that the steak was cold. Her response was an uninterested "OK". There was no apology or offer of a replacement. As the food tasted nice, we continued eating. Upon finishing our food another waitress came over to clear away our plates and on doing so we mentioned again about the cold food. Again the response was "OK", but at least this waitress acknowledged that she would let the chef know. Our bill then arrived, without any recognision of our issue. We attended the bar and asked to speak with a manager. The initial waitress returned and after some discussion reluctantly agreed to give us 10% off the bill. This issue was dealt with poorly and unprofessionally by both members of staff, but more so by the waitress/manager who we initially reported to. We advised that although the food tasted good, it was cold - the issue should have been resolved at this point. We shouldn't have had to mention it to a second member of staff and thereafter request a manger. On a separate note - if serving food on a plate, get rid of the paper the food is served on as it becomes soggy and sticks to food.

We enjoyed our visit, the food and the service - until the rugby started. If we'd been there for the rugby that would be fine, but we were there to chat with friends and catch up. It meant a lot of shouting and breaks in conversation and a tiring time being heard above the noise. Next time I book a table at any restaurant, I'll make sure we can focus on the food and the conversation without it being drowned out by noise we hadn't expected. A response from management would be appreciated. In response to the manager's comment, I booked on Thursday 7 June for a table for six on Saturday 9 June, 6.30pm. No mention was made of the rugby being broadcast on the night.

Went for a hangover cure, and boy did it hit the spot. The menu was fantastic and offered many delicious options to chase the hang-away. We opted for a selection of Entree's/Light Meals and were over the moon. The staff were attentive and very friendly, would absolutely go again!

The staff were friendly, if a bit weary of the upcoming rugby game night that evening but all seemed happy to serve anyone that came in. Having had a few "okay" pub meal type lunches here in the past, we were stunned by the quality of the dinner meals. The chicken and the pork were amazing! Table was a little tiny (had to use a stool for extra space), but otherwise very pleasantly surprised.

The waitresses response was a disinterested "OK", no apology or offer to replace. We finished the food, as it did taste good. When the plates were cleared the other waitess asked how the food was and again we mentioned the cold steak. She replied that she would mention it to the chef. The bill arrived without any acknowledgement of the issue/cold steak. When we went to pay the bill we asked to speak with the manager, which turned out to be the first waitress. After a bit of discussion, she reluctantly took 10% off the bill. Overall, the food was average. The service was just OK. The issue should have been dealt with much better and more professionally. When I first mentioned the cold steak, we should have been offered a replacement and not just an acknowledgement. On a separate subject, if serving food on a plate, remove the red checked paper as it becomes soggy and sticks to food.

I got sucked into the maddening crescendo of food platter options, confused as anything about how to get the best food bang for my buck. Went with the $99 one to feed 4 of us, which it did - just. But now that I have done that I wouldn't feel a great urge to grab a meal there again. And you can slap 'craft beer' on your signage but when you are still supplied by one of the 'Big 2' I'm not so sure it counts for much. Lovely spot when the sun is out!

What a fabulous, child friendly restarant to take the family too. We all had exceptional meals, and our grandson was kept amused in the courtyard with the playground equiptment, so it was a win win for us all. Seven of us went for lunch during Wellington On A Plate. There was no one else dining, which seemed strange during a major food festival. The festival menu said the burger could be made gluten free, but when we asked for the GF option the serving person acted like she'd never even heard of it. Eventually the chef confirmed the festival menu was a mistake and GF wasn't available. The serving person insisted on checking all our IDs even though it was the middle of the day and most of us are well over 30. The ID check took ages and the woman wasn't even nice about it. Later she held us up paying the bill because she didn't know how to logout of the till. The main thing to recommend this bar is the free parking out the back, though it's not well signposted so is really for those with local knowledge.
