D. S.Four of us found the Brown pub to be very clean, very affordable and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The meal was also a great price. Recommend it to all.
Also a word out for the beautiful hot pools in Methven.
B. W.Great venue for drinks and a not expensive meal. They cater so well for children and have a children's playground at the rear of the building which is totally safe and secure. Adults can also blend into that environment very successfully without interruptions.
Great for a family afternoon party in particular.

C. R.What a pleasant surprise when we walked upstairs, stayed in room 3 overlooking the Main Street. Perfect room, foyer, lounge such ambience, totally enjoyed our stay in the ole girl, thank you
M. M.Really comfy place to stay while spending time at Mt Hutt. Location is smack bang in the middle of the town and everything you need is just meters away including the pickup/drop-off for the Ski Bus. The room is more than adequate, the shared facilities are regularly cleaned and the water pressure was a nice surprise. The staff downstairs were very helpful, friendly and great to ask for local pointers and advice. For the money, I have to give 5 stars.

M. N.This is the pub, with the unwritten rules. It's place , where the local people meet. Personally I think that the place looks like downtown, but we had there good times, and I had delicious burger, served by friendly waitress. As 3 stars should be considered for middle, I giving 4.
D. P.Fast service. Very good portion sizes! Nice cooked meat. The chicken schnitzel was the best I had ever had. Didnt think to take a photo but my partner mentioned the presentation of her meal was awesome. The chips tucked under the meat neatly and the cluster of salad almost in a ball shape. Was a nice meal out in methven 😁😃
S. O.Fast service, good menu and colouring in for kids which is much appreciated. No real craft beer selection (despite the name). Gave us a broken highchair for our baby and I urge they throw this out before there is a serious accident.

C. H.Decent selection of drinks, some good deals on at the weekend. Bar food is terrible, pie, barely cooked and reheated in the microwave so it burnt to my plate, atmosphere is none existent unless you get lucky on a Saturday night.
Go to the restaurant side for an entirely different experience, pretty decent food along with service with a slight smile and lovely decor!
C. H.Good clean rooms. Inexpensive during peak times. Basic kitchen facilities. Plenty of hot water for showers. Friday and Saturdays go off like a bucket of prawns in the sun, so don't expect a quiet nights sleep - it is a pub ! Owner is a great bloke - very helpful. In the dead centre of town, so close to everything. Worth the visit. I'll be back !

First time visit since the fire. Worthwhile to see the work done.
T. N.Overnight stay includes staying in a small room (no table, just your bed). Seperate from the room, it has a common room, couple of showers, sink, and fridge which is all shared between around 20(?) rooms. Ideally, would recommend a group to book numerous rooms as it may not accommodate a big group. If you are going to Mt Hutt, just to advise there is no heating room, I used the heater within our room which was a radiator to dry our equipment. Service is great, you have a lot of variety to eat in and around you. Everything is near you. Overall, a cheap place to stay. If you do not care about luxuries and just require a stay for the snow. This is your go to place.

Update: The owner and manager have both personally addressed my concerns and over a long winded conversation have apologised and offered a free meal and drinks! Although I have declined it was quite commendable. I will be giving this place another go!

H. V.It's an ok pub, has what you need. Food in the restaurant was mediocre. Went with 8 other people and only 2 had no complaints about their meals and they were the people who never complain about anything. Nobody ended up sick or anything, just disappointed.
