S.I had been eyeing this place up. The menu looked fantastic and it certainly delivered. The South American beef and the Tuna were our favourites. The staff were very friendly, attentive, passionate and knowledgeable. The drinks were great, something a little different. The best thing was definitely how personable the staff were.
H.This place is very good. The wine is outstanding. The food snacks are a little on the pricey side. But is great just as a stop off to meet friends and have a few wines,without the food.
M.Service was excellent, friendly, fun and very comfortable. The food was amazing a wee bit pricey for the size. Sooo, Go as a group and order everything on the menu… very cool place 🙌
O.Interesting interior and good selection of European wines. Very yummy tapas (especially dumplings) but wildly overpriced. Staff were very attentive, maybe overly so. Maybe not worth the hype but good for nice photos.

Came here for a quick wine before dinner around the corner at Bistronomy. We arrived half an hour before closing, and it was really nice that the staff did not make us feel rushed, in fact when we left i asked what time they were due to close and I was told "soon". There were a few other tables still enjoying their drinks so it it was really nice to see a place stay open a little later for the guests that were still around.
Even though we sat outside, the ambience was nice being on a quiet side street and the building is certainly unique.
The wine menu was extensive with selections from Hawkes Bay and around the world.
P.So cool atmosphere. I only had a sweet escape cocktail and was delicious, but definitely we'll go back for a meal

L.I walked past this place and ended up having to go back and visit; just too stylish and appealing not to visit. The service was excellent, and I really enjoyed the slow Sunday afternoon vibe with the music they were playing, as well as trying maybe my new favourite rosé. (Hope I picked the right diacritic.) It was a lovely spot to read my book and drink wine while I whiled away my last hours in Napier. I hope to visit again.

L.This place is brilliant. Hectic Friday evening but still maintained superb service. Cocktail maker absolutely knows what's what and made drinks off only a few suggestions after loving the menu options.

M.I already thought Matisse was an amazing place for there huge selection of wines and seasonal menu of tapa style dishes but they have become the best place in Napier for cocktails. I had a look through there cocktail book on Sunday and it was really impressive. Highly recommended.
J.Wish we were able to leave six stars because we would. Matisse has staff that adhere to you every need, wine that is out of this world, and food to die for. We leave happier than we walked in. Matisse is the best spot in Napier.

B.Great tapas and wine selection, I wish I had this list at these prices back home in Melbourne. The bar manager was extremely knowledgeable and shared some inside tips on visiting the nearby wineries which were exactly what we were after. If they still have them by the glass the white wine from Coronas in Northern Rhone and the Hungarian white from Pheasants Tears were both beautiful wines.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, multicultural. Loved the vibe and the food plates and will be back. At last a great wine bar in NZ’s most varied wine región.

K.I had a lovey evening at the Matisse Wine Bar! Staff were attentive, but not pushy.
I would have appreciated tasting notes with the menu rather than just the Winery / Grape variety / Vintage.
A.Yyyeeessss, a real gem in the Bay. I know we love our wine here so places to buy wine aren't scarce, but Matisse do it so well. Lovely platters too and a funky atmosphere. I love visiting and taking visitors too.

L.Great new addition to Napier bar scene, we had to book as so popular on a Friday night, we had to wait for 30 mins down at a nearby bar. Matisse offers a vast range of stunning wines from around the world, I chose a Devine gewurtztraminer at $29 a glass it was up there in the pricey bracket but an absolute stunner! Service was attentive and informative. And I believe we are heading back this weekend for a pre dinner drink with friends and family

S.Food here is to die for. Pork belly skewers & brisket are next level amazing! Brussel sprouts to die for & who wound have thought anyone could say that about Brussel sprouts. Definitely get them.

S.Fell upon this fabulous place en route to another. A quick drink turned to dinner, the staff exceptional - with a wonderful touch of cheek! The menu is full of delicious options and the drink list is so extensive it'll suit any palate. Loved it so much we came back the next night
