The beers here are great, like absolutely delicious. This is coming from a former craft beer blogger. But, their food can be improved. There are no vegan options (their fries have chicken salt), and their veggie tempura was a real miss. Pints are $11, and tasting trays of 6 tasters are $19. Great quality beer and even better quality service.

This place is certainly hip. It was pretty packed with people when we arrived but it was mostly younger people having a few drinks. Bar staff where super friendly, menu was reasonable. I had a vego pizza and my partner had the lamb salad. Location is great but it was super noisy and not really suitable for a relaxing dinner. Would be a great place to hang after work or before dinner with friends for a couple of drinks.

This place was a bit of a disappointment for us. It didn’t have the ‘craft beer’ kind of vibe we were expecting and felt like just any generic pub or bar. After looking at the menu for several minutes, ordering our drinks, then ordering food a few minutes later, we were eventually told that they didn’t have the mixed grill I ordered. I had the bangers and mash instead which was a small portion and quite bland. My girlfriend had the fish and chips which she enjoyed, but we probably wouldn’t go back.

Great range of house beers with rotating seasonal taps. Tasty selection of food to keep you going whilst you sample the broad range of delicious beers. Friendly and knowledgeable staff are happy to recommend a beer to suit your tastes. All up, a lovely venue with a nice laid-back vibe.

Checked out the Sprig & Fern Hardy Street yesterday afternoon and ended up back there later in the evening because it had been such a nice experience. Bar staff are very friendly and the space has a really good feel to it. Plenty of cool beers to choose from but watch out for the boozey lemonade, it's dangerously refreshing!

Sprig and Fern Hardy street is Nelson's local pub. It's by far the best place in town. The beer is all brewed locally and they have won heaps of awards for it. The pub is great and has a patio on the front and back. The staff are amazing and you'll always meet great people here. Highly recommend !

Wandered here while stopping through town and were happy with our choice. We all had very good local brews. I wish I had done a flight to try more. I ordered a cajun pizza which was on special and was excellent! I savored every bite. The outside seating is also dog friendly. They brought water out for the pups that showed up while we were eating. Friendly service, tasty lunch, and good value.

Fantastic service. We had the vegetarian pizza and they were happy to make it vegan for us (no cheese but with extra sauce). It was delicious. They have a huge range of their own craft beers. Staff are friendly.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Grown Up’s Lemonade - it was really tasty. I ordered the tempura veges which had an incredibly thick batter that looked and tasted just like the fish and chip batter my friend ordered. The atmosphere was nice and friendly, quite a few people in but service was attentive.

Popped in here for a quick dessert and glass of wine. I had been told that this was a great local bar and it did not disappoint! I had one of their excellent chocolate bourbon balls with a glass of great NZ rose and people-watched from the corner. Initially the bartender I got came off a bit salty and surly, but he warmed up a bit in the end. The other bartender was a bit more jovial and engaging and by the time I left you could tell this was a regular spot for some of the locals as well as a place recommended by the locals to visitors in the area. They looked like they had a good menu, if I had been in Nelson an additional night, I would have come back for lunch or dinner.

A deceptively large bar off the main drag of Trafalgar Street but only a couple of minutes walk from it, they have a good selection of local beers, sensibly priced food and live music most nights. Plenty of seating and tables away from the band areas so you don't get deafened if you just want a bite to eat.
