Reviews of The Free House Pub

Great outdoor area. Dog friendly. Delicious selection of beers. We did get an audible sigh and an eye roll from the waitress when we ordered a bunch of taster sized beers. Apparently they are a hassle to serve up. We saw the funny side but were surprised to get this in a place which charges $14 per pint.

Just an epic place. Also has a record store. Essentially my idea of heaven

Pricey, but excellent craft beer selection in a unique setting (old church turned pub!). Bartender was super nice and had us try a few different beers to see what we’d like :)

Simply THE BEST place I know of anywhere to have great beer with or without friends. Love the inclusive and open culture of The Freehouse. Great leadership implemented by positive friendly staff.

Visited the Free House Pub with by brother. Never seen anything quite like it before, nothing like it in the UK. So, we were there after dark and for supper. We managed to find a table for us all to sit down. There was a great selection of craft beers to choose from, and lots of wines.
As we were there for supper, we ordered a takeaway curry from the curry house near by. This was delivered by the takeaway to the pub. We ate, and then the pub cleans up. How cool is that.
While we were there a Irish band arrived and proceeded to make music.

If all churches served craft beer I’d be there every Sunday and Saturday and Friday etc. And given the number of churches there is Nelson this one has to be both the most popular and one of the most fun. Lots if options for beer from around the region and internationally and some hand-pulled numbers.

In my humble opinion, the best bar in New Zealand. Outstanding range of beers, friendly service, warm welcoming atmosphere and the freedom to enjoy whatever food you wish (off their menu, takeaways or BYO!)

Not a lot of variety in food but what they have is amazing! And a lot of different beers, a good place to try different kinds.
We were there Sunday noon and had a good time.

Great range of beers and good limited food menu. Average table service.

The best vibe in Nelson! The Free House is the place you need, any night of the week. With a group, a partner, flying solo or with your pupper, you'll find a spot in this community. Great beer and wine selection, simple food and lots of different spaces to inhabit. Go and relax now! You'll thank yourself.
