busy place on tue, quiz night.food was ok generous sizing for the beef nacho dish. music a lil loud for us but others obviously dont mind.

Well we went there twice, firstly for drinks , which found to be reasonably priced with friendly staff and nice surroundings. Second time we went on a Sunday, one before Anzac day, the place was reasonably busy but still a couple of bigger tables available. On approaching the bar an extremely frazzled barman slightly panicky suggested he advise what was left on the menu as they had been "smashed". Out of steak, chicken , burgers, pizzas, salad.... well there wasn't much left on the menu to warrant staying. They did their best to get us to stay and were very sorry but there was nothing to eat unless you wanted chips. In my opinion the chef needs a rocket to be that short of product even if they have been "smashed" , especially with a holiday the next day. Of course the chef may have had reasons beyond his control like his budget or management but really running out of this many things shouldn't happen. They suggested another place to go to...........well that's another story. Nelson get you're hospitality act together.

Pretty poor service. Waitress was pretty unapologetic and blunt when we were told pretty much everything we wanted to order was unavailable because they had run out. Extremely long wait times considering it wasn't that busy. The wait time was never mentioned, only once we asked how long it would be after waiting an hour and a half, they told us quite a lot longer.

Truffle Mac and Cheese isn’t much to look at but it tastes delicious. The perfect mix of white sauce, cheese and truffle flavoring in my opinion but the truffle flavor is strong so beware if you aren’t used to that. Doe balls that came with it were very garlicky but I love that too. Ribs are a huge portion and the jerk sauce has a nice kick but fries are perhaps too salty, good for my gut as I didn’t eat them all. 😂 service was top notch, very friendly and attentive.

Proper pub.. Had roast beef Sunday lunch. Beef a little overdone and parsnips a little underdone. Sticky toffee pudding and ice cream was delicious. Good beer and wine selection

Delicious food, good portion size and great service from the team. Definitely recommend and will be back.

A great atmosphere and great staff. The food is excellent

So I didn't know what to expect diving into a buttermilk chicken donut with lashes of bacon, but boy was I suitably impressed. A very sweet and savoury meal all in one go. It went nicely with the mac's fejoa, pear and elderflower drink and both were very very moreish.

Cold & drizzly winters day outside. Warm & friendly atmosphere inside. Fabulous Sunday lunch. The hot smoked salmon salad was to-die-for & the mussel/clam chowder hit the spot. Service was top notch too. Havent been here for quite a while but will definitely return again soon.

The Vic Pub is great! The staff are so lovely and friendly. However went there for dinner last night which they were using Burger Culture menu. So disappointed. The cous cous salad was dry and tasted like it’d been in the fridge the entire lockdown. Couldn’t manage more than 3 mouthfuls. The fried chicken was just plonked on a plate without sauce and the burgers were dry. The loaded fries however were pretty good. Please bring back your menu!

I had waffles fries and spicy chicken nibbles they were delicious. Also the cocktails were good.

Food was nice but not great, had ribs and they were tender but not amazing flavour. But the fries were nasty. Was looking forward to triple cooked chips and they tasted like cheap corn chips. Really bad after taste. Don't know why. Was a little disappointed by the nights meal. Great friendly staff though. Didn't say anything bad about the meal.

Good pub in Nelson, nicely fitted out and nice outdoor seating area in the square. Plenty of tasty things on the menu and refreshing beers a few guest ones are rotated according to the bar staff. Worth a visit if in Nelson.

Booked a table here for the Euros England v Ukraine game while visiting from Auckland. Great service and atmosphere and the result went our way to. Beautiful period building, many choice of beers and menu.

Pizza was soggy and luke warm when it arrived. Staff were friendly and helpful but didn't give us any cutlery with our pizza and chips, so this also meant no napkins. Its not bad, just over priced. However, its a good place to sit outside and watch the world go by.

Excellent food and selection of beer. This is the place to go if you want to have a MAC beer from tap! Staff very nice and efficient. Just as nice seating on the outside as on the inside.

Excellent location at the top of Trafalgar St. Craft beers, outdoor street garden bar, cool DJ sounds on a Sunday from 1pm. Love it.

Nice ambience and good drink options. Staff is very friendly too. Food was a bit of a let down. Steak was bit chewy and dry and the asian salad was bit too spicy for our liking.

I love this place, craft beers on tab and the fish and chips are amazing. I ate here for lunch and dinner. Great spot. Kind staff, great spot, indoor and outdoor seating, takes cards. Visited again in 2019; still great. Great Scottish waiter one of the best. Will return.

Our favourite pub in Nelson. Food was great, bar staff were all super friendly and helpful. We may have come here 4 times in 3 days... lol

We watched the Super Bowl here and had beers and hamburgers. Both the hamburgers and the fries were excellent. There are good local beers on tap with a diverse variety available. Within easy walking distance of the Rutherford hotel and other facilities. There are also plenty of TV monitors and the sound quality is good. There are plenty of tables and chairs as well.

Just went in with my friend for a few drinks for her birthday before dinner. Had the on tap cider, was really refreshing, off-dry. Service was great, done with a smile. Never had to leave our table for continued drinks as the wait staff checked in on us promptly. Highly recommended.

Nice bar/restaurant chain with great outdoor seating on nice nights. The menu is extensive and what we had was delicious (ribs and fish&chips) and generously portioned. Namesake brews on offer here too. Friendly staff and speedy service make for a good night out.

Very good food with great staff

Absolutely delicious food and friendly staff. A bit rowdy at the best of times forcing you to shout to be heard but that's to be expected from an inner city brew cafe. Such a lively spot in a handy place. Definitely worth a visit.

Great food and service, the only downfall would be that they sometimes have live music which makes it hard to hear, but this is usually later. If you go for this it is quite good, we usually just go for a meal. The chicken burger is extremely tasty. They also used to do a pie with some mouthwatering gravy. Great decor.

Indooror outdoor dining at the top of Trafalgar street in Nelson. Our waitress was a delight and nothing seemed too much trouble, even the restless noisy kids.Delicious food and a full range of drinks available. A good place for dining , enjoying a drink with mates or family, or just sitting and chatting over a drink.

This is a very nice pub located on the main street of Nelson. Every Monday they have an open mic night with really talented people playing. On St.paddys day the have an Irish band playing and the atmosphere is just amazing with everyone dancing and celebrating. The prices are reasonable and the offer a great varieties of local and national beers from the tab and different ciders. The staff is really friendly and the service is quick.

Great beer and very good food. Fantastic location right in the heart of Nelson, underneath the Cathedral. Not cheap, but hardly surprising given the location. Lovely outdoor seating too.

My partner and I came here with only one night to spend in Nelson. Really lovely food (seafood chowder was amazing!) , friendly & attentive staff and an excellent beer selection. Couldn't recommend more.

Waiter was exceptionally pleasant and polite and patient. Medium sized group, meals forgotten, some parts of some plates were raw or over cooked. Inconsistent but the waiter tried to be pleasant

Popped in to see the band "House of Krammit" they were awesome and just made the evening something special. The staff were polite and attentive checking on our drinks status often but not too often.

Apart from the fact they overcharged us for the prosecco and wouldn't back down... food was great and the buttermilk chicken was fabulous

Great spot in the heart of Nelson for a cold pint of beer. We came here to watch the cricket match, as a sports bar they did not disappoint - had the cricket on all screens in the venue!

Sadly the spare ribs where one of the not so good ones... Dry, loads of cartilage and I think the BBQ sauce was just finished HP sauce... The beer was good and the waitress was very polite.

Very nice atmosphere and staff. We sat out on the patio to take in some sun while enjoying our food and beer.

The beer is forthcoming and the staff are not belligerent. Moreover the environs are conducive to quite reflection and the contemplative nursing of a gently sparkling glass of Kiwi neckoil.

The choice of food is quite in line with a classic pub, but I expected something more. The food is pretty good, but it didn't convince me, certainly plenty of it. Price on average, I wouldn't go back there, but I don't feel like advising against it. Try it. (Original) Non d' ho con leggerezza 5 stelle per cui non me la sento di darne 4 a questo locale.
