Good selection of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails. friendly staff help with the good atmosphere in the bar. The roof top beer garden had a good vibe with plenty of people out there. Obviously set up for a dj, which would have been good.

We stopped here for lunch and WOW. We got fish and chips only 20 bucks and what an amazing feed. So fresh and awesome size I got an smirnoff vodka the waiter even asked if I wanted a nip of raspberry in it , sooo nice and the first time any server has asked so thank you Surreal 😊 awesome time will definitely be back

Couldn't fault, the place was spacious and tidy. The meal was more than I could have asked for. I had the rump which was good as requested MR. The fries were some of the best fries I have ever had, crunchy outside soft inside. The schnitzel was very pleasing according to my wife. The staff were friendly and pleasant.

Surreal Bar is a place I’d highly recommend. The place was fully packed for a reason - great food and great cocktails. I was a huge fan of the pork ribs and the cocktails just went down so easily. Great service as well to top it all off.

This place offers 3 floors of differing atmosphere and decor. Enjoy your meal in a very nice and comfy restaurant or go upstairs to visit the bar, or head up to the roof for restaurant, bar and entertainment. Surreal also offers a 'cheaper' pub menu that is exceptional value for money 😁👍😎

Lively place, nice staff and good food. We ordered the chicken parmigiana, which was really tasty and full of flavor. The chicken breast was really tender and it had ham and cheese inside. We also ordered the lamb, also tender and well prepared and the steak that was cooked to our taste. It all comes with good sauces, salad and fries or mashed potatoes. The garlic butter for the steak was also great. You can eat inside or on the rooftop and it's very close to the center.

Great place for drinks and food. We got the pitcher which was ok for the value of money. The food was amazing. We got the mac and cheese balls, and the pork ribs. So so good!! The ribs were so tender. Couldn't stop licking my fingers!! The potato salad that came with it wasn't so great. But overall, a great value for money.

I need to admit that it was cold and we stuck finding a bar in front of them and found that they're cozy and have special menu of the day. I got in without any expectations but the meal was nice enough to give itself 4 star. Another one came from staff that helpful and gave us check when we seems to have some question. Really delicious Rump Steak for only $15 NZ. Me & my boyfriend has craved a good steak since we been traveling in Asia and have not had many real steaks and this Rump steak lived up to our expectations and above. Really recommend it. The place was also relaxed, we went there over lunch and it was not too crowded.

I went here for lunch. Atmosphere is good vibes; spacious place. Staff is friendly. They got some specials on Wednesday. A variety of food available to cater but I ordered Thai chicken curry with Jasmine rice — in my opinion is very delicious! The creamy coconut and a hint of spicyness is just right. Alongside I got some warm winter cider; truly that is very nice as well with the winter cold. Price is good and affordable for a quality meal. I highly recommend the place

Nice place, had a really nice warm spiced cider on I cold day up on the rooftop next to a heater. It was exactly what I wanted and it didn't cost much. Great views and very well decorated inside. Worth a visit. Went back this evening and had a very nice steak and chips for just $15! Got some veg as a side dish and it was amazing! Really nice and buttery and the steak was cooked beautifully. Would have liked it to have been bigger but for $15 I was certainly not complaining. The staff were all very friendly and chatty. Just as we were leaving they were starting a drum n bass night too. Shame we had to go because I was well up fot that!

Came for the $15 rump steak as had been craving one. Definitely was not dissapointed. Tri cut rump piece was cooked perfectly to my liking, my compliments to the chef, it was tender and juicy. Saw others eating the fish and chips which also looked really decent. Good prices for expensive Queenstown. Homely warm bar with plenty of beer on tap, and a little balcony you can also sit out the front and people watch with your meal :)

Very happy with the food, prices, and service overall. Best LL&B drink on our south island journey to date. Excellent Thai chicken curry. Very acceptable fish, chips, and mushy peas. The sticky date was possibly one of the best, if not the best we have had anywhere. The chocolate pudding was a little on the dry side for my taste but the chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream was a redeeming feature. Excellent serving staff.

Best meal I’ve in Queenstown, also happened to be the cheapest. If you’re looking for a hearty meal, a simple Thai Green Curry or Fettuccine Carbonara you’d find at your local Italian or Thai restaurant in Australia this is the place for you. Max the chef made my Carbonara as a custom request on the back of one of their mains. He seriously needs to be commended, $15 each for absolute perfection. Well done

Great place to eat with main meals and tapas. Kids menu good and my son had the chicken schnitzel which was really nice. Mum had the pork belly with a side salad and loved it. Older son demolished the burger. We shared Arancini Balls, Moroccan Beef Skewers, Pulled Pork Tacos and Side of Veg.

Reasonably priced IPA. Lovely rooftop garden. Nice place to relax with a drink. Edit: We went back the next day & had food. I had the veggie wrap, which is possibly the most tasty veggie wrap I've ever had. Everyone else enjoyed their food too. The prices were good & the portions generous. Really friendly staff. Definitely recommend this place for food & a good atmosphere.

Great service. Have been coming here for years and never been disappointed. Food is terrific - super tasty, good portion size, and served hot. Beer is cold and delicious. Have never ordered anything I didn't like. Prices are really reasonable, music is great, and location is very central/ convenient. Totally recommend them to couples or families. Yum!!!

Really nice bar and restaurant. They've got really nice staff, always willing to recommend something or help you. The food was awesome, too. We had a wagyu burger (Japanese beef) with fries, salad with Haloumi and beetroots, something like tacos with cheese and homemade dips and really good beer and wine. The atmosphere there feels pretty good, too.

This is a lovely little gem in Queenstown. Fabulous food, wait staff with a very fun attitude, and sticky date pudding to die for. They don' t even flinch when you order hot tea instead of beer. A must in QT.

We were trying to find a place that had a bit of variety and this suited the bill. The specials at the door looked nice and so we gave them a shot and weren't disappointed. The meals came fairly promptly and were quite nice. The service wasn't fantastic, as they seemed to be short staffed. Pretty noisy from the bar area, but you get that any place. Happy to go back again.

I was trying to make up for spending $$$ on adventures and nicer accommodation by eating grocery store meals, but suddenly I really wanted a steak! I was worried about finding a reasonably priced steak in Queenstown, but I passed this place and there was a very well priced ribeye on the main menu. When I walked in, there was a ridiculously cheap special, $15nzd rump steak! And it was delicious. Mmm, steak. Great atmosphere, very good service.

Our first time in Queenstown and after half a day of exploring the Skyline activities and walks on a 'brisk' but clear and lovely day we were looking for some satisfying food to warm us up before heading back to our hotel for the night. While checking out many of the establishments around the mall and surrounding streets we decided that Surreal had what we were looking for. Having a vegetarian in our party is always a little tricky to find something to satisfy all concerned in the one place. Most establishements don't even try. Surreal had a good variety of food on their menu and was not as expensive as many others in town. The staff were attentive and professional right from the start. Kyle greeted us when we chose our table and made us feel very welcome. We made an unusual drink request (an iced coffee) and he was very happy to accommodate. We noticed the bar staff discussing perhaps how it should be made :) But there was no excuses offered, nor did they decline to give it a go. And I have to say; it was the best iced coffee I've had in the week we have been travelling around New Zealand. Surreal should consider adding it to their drinks menu :) The Garlic bread was a very generous portion - a whole mini-loaf! Apparently made on site and with a twist: 'half and half' wholemeal and white! We were stunned! Not only at the size but at how unique it was. First plate of food on the table and we were blown away - and that was just the entrée! Fresh, crisp and fantastic. Loved it! As we couldn't possibly finish off the whole garlic bread, the staff were prompt with asking if we would like our mains brought out. We were really being 'waited on' in the true sense of the term. The meals were just lovely. The vegetarian dish was awesome - very tasty. Kyle swung by just to top up our water and the staff as a whole continued to be attentive without being pushy or impersonal. They made a typical holiday activity a really enjoyable and memorable experience. We would give six stars if that was an option!

Good vibe here, sat on the top floor with a few friends for hours having beers and listening to the music. Music was a bit too loud in my opinion but the selection was good. There was some live music on the night when we went which was nice. The guy running the music was definitely too drunk though.

Visited during their lunch specials and ordered a steak served with gravy and chips. Price and food quality were pretty good. Not sure if he was the manager or the owner, but I got served by a dude with glasses and a goatee and he was super cool. Customer service was attentive and always communicated with us if there were any delays (our hot chocolate, as they were understaffed that hour), Made me, my sister and I feel super welcome. Would eat there again.
