Reviews of The Lodge Bar, Queenstown
R.
Lovely view here of the waterfront and passersby! Staff were very friendly. Delicious cocktails and oysters but we found it a bit overpriced.

We enjoyed an exceptional meal here last night. The food was exceptional. No words will do justice to the rich and complex flavours in our shared meals, so I will simply say, chef Matt Lambert produced one of the best meals I have ever had the pleasure to experience.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, suggesting menu items and offering their own twists and recommendations on the already remarkable cocktails.
I would certainly recommend this place and am excited to see what they have to offer on my next visit to QT.
T.
The best spot to watch the sunset on the waterfront! We were sitting on a cosy couch outside, right underneath the heater. Staff were outstanding and we would highly recommend the kiwi sunset cocktail!
J.
What an amazing place, I think people get lost in the amazing cocktail and wine list with tranquil views and forget about the tantalizing dinner menu.
The staff are amazing, they know the product and they serve with a huge smile. We felt like we belonged, we were not rushed. Each dish was presented with a well rehearsed explanation of the food involved. I give 5 stars to the staff too.
I saw so many taking part in capturing the views and the yummy espresso martini that they forgot about the food menu. Who can blame them ;-)
But hey they missed out on one the tastiest menus in Queenstown. If you want to pick a few oysters or a light entree or their main fare, it is a degustation you will not forget.
This place is more then a great little cocktail wine bar. Dining tables are limited so book ahead, you will not be disappointed.
I could tell you about every dish, but I will not, as I will be back to sample more, that good. Bon Appetite.

A perfect spot to grab an outdoor lounger and a blanket, order a drink then just sit down and watch the people pass by or busk with their talents. The view is amazing and the service is excellent. I tried both their fried and fresh oysters, and got completely addicted to their fresh ones. Perfectly shucked, chilled and seasoned, and I usually don’t any like oysters!!
Their small rabbit and veal meatballs with smoked cheese are super tasty and their tagliatelle with lamb ragu is also exceptional.
Overall, fantastic food, great atmosphere and service.
J.
Excellent espresso martini with a great view of the sunset. Will definitely be back.

I’ve been hanging out to go to the lodge bar for years and it was definitely worth the wait! Amazing, kind and welcoming staff. Delish cocktails and amazing food. Can’t wait to come back!
I.
Food was great especially the oysters which were really fresh. Staff was also extremely welcoming and friendly. Overall a nice cosy place to chill out at. Being near the lake provides a great view if seating outdoors.
S.
You cannot go wrong with this place! Amazing view esp around sunset, spectacular leather work in the decor, top notch wine, and picture perfect snacks. Perfect for before dinner drinks (we didn't try the cocktails but they looked amazing!)
P.
Lovely place for a small snack or after work drink. The atmosphere is warm and relaxing. The view over the lake is amazing! The toasties were delicious & the staff is very friendly.
Only minus point is they don’t have glutenfree toasties.
L.
We stopped in on New years eve for an afternoon drink and some nibbles, and have to say the staff were absolutley phenomenal. One of the best service experiences we've had on our two week visit to the Central Otago region. A magical spot with great food & drink to sit and watch the world go by, see you again soon! Cheers
B.
Made a reservation for sunset with lake views. Drinks a bit on the pricy side but excellent nonetheless. Food and snacks were amazing!
T.
Great location for a relaxing drink or meal. Beautiful views. Great cocktails, and the food is delicious. Service was friendly, and honestly perfect. Just behind is the Rodd and Gunn store (of course). Definitely great spot to try in Queenstown.
A.
Great spot for people watching. Superb staff. Delicious food. Great drinks menu. The pappardelle is awesome. Try it!
S.
Outstanding dinner. Tortellini was next level good.
Intimate space, small & simple menu, excellent service
T.
Cosy and warm with attentive, friendly staff. Just perfect on a wet Queenstown night. Would be 5 stars except for limited food options (like due to Covid).
L.
This bar/restaurant is gorgeous. The staff know what they are doing with impeccable service. It's got a cool, old school vibe. It may seem a strange recommendation but order the cultured bread and butter!! It would be tragic not to. I would love to see more plant based options on the menu.
P.
Amazing cocktails, great ambience and service, awesome location. Definitely worth a visit.
M.
Lovely bar in the best spot, right by the lakefront. Great service, all of the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Liz made us some lovely cocktails, some of the best I’ve ever tried. Will 100% come back!
M.
What a gorgeous space with amazing seating, perfect lighting and excellent staff! Had some amazing cocktails made by a very knowledgeable mixologist. Although we didn’t eat here, the menu looked well thought out, small but perfect so will have to come back. Simply an amazing spot!
E.
Great bar tenders and good options. Love the relaxing and quiet vibe. Cosy spot!
J.
Delicious cocktails and lovely interior overlooking the lake.
S.
Great cocktails and a wonderful view of the lake. My partner and I had a few snacks there as well, but we didn't try any of their substantial meals. What we had was good though. Also, the staff are lovely - they are attentive without being overbearing. I would come back here for a drink on my next visit to Queenstown.
B.
Fantastic spot for a great drop of wine, with an excellent view over the lake. I would definitely head back next time we’re in Queenstown.
A.
Fancy bar right on the waterfront. Great for cocktail or nice glass of wine. Also a clothing store.
D.
Popped into The Lodge Bar for pre dinner drinks. Very relaxing way to start the night. Not overly busy but I guess thats more a sign of the times right now. This made it very easy to get seat etc which normally isn’t the case.
J.
Great bar overlooking the Qtown harbor. Perfect place to have a drink followed by dinner.
K.
Great place, amazing location. Seriously enjoyed our time there, high level service too.
C.
Good wine and lovely place. Waiters are all nicely and friendly. A great place to chill
J.
Love this little relaxing bar with an amazing view
K.
Great location for a few drinks with perfect view on the water and the mountains in the background. Perfect for people-watching if you grab a seat by the windows. The staff was very friendly and the cocktails were perfect. We went several times and will come back one day for a Kiwi Sunset!
P.
Food was great as were the cocktails. When the place is full, service is a little slow. But the view out the windows makes it worth waiting.
G.
Love love love The Lodge Bar! Old Fashioned Charlotte I think is my favourite cocktail ever and the food is incredible. Any place that has a whole section of the menu dedicated to fancy toast gets my vote.
E.
Very well appointed, very 'manly' bar with great views over Lake Wakatipu and the general hubbub of the foreshore area. Only a few tables so you can expect it to be hard to get a seat, especially late at night, but we had good luck in the afternoon - and the views are better! Drinks are a bit pricier than other places nearby ($20+ for cocktails) but the environment and experience makes it not unreasonable.
G.
Great location views etc super staff. Limited seating outside. Pricey $68 bottle of white (which was superb) Wonderful tapas. Not a bar for backpackers. Suppose Queenstown is just expensive like New Zealand in general.
S.
A great location and friendly staff. Good was delicious and great wine.
T.
This is such a cute gem of a place that is hidden in plain sight on the Queenstown lakefront.
Every time I have visited there it's not been too busy and that's suited me perfectly because it's virtually hard to escape the crowds in Queenstown!
The food offering isn't expansive but the focus is on quality over quantity, and it's mouth-wateringly delicious. I would highly recommend grabbing one of everything and grazing your way through a slow afternoon here in this hunting lodge-esque spot on the lakefront.
The cocktail menu is a nice, modern selection created with Kiwi products. The Wakatipu warmer is my go-to in winter, it's scrumptious and a total belly warming treat.
Their extensive wine and spirits list features numerous New Zealand brands, many from the local Otago region. What better way than to immerse yourself into Queenstown, than through the various drams the recent burgeoning distillers have been crafting. Plus, if you're into craft beers and the likes there is something on offer behind the bar too.
This is a lovely little venue, with warm and cosy but luxe looking fitout. Best for intimate experiences and preferably sans kids. They also let you reserve tables or why not go ahead and book the whole venue for your next party!
K.
I loved the oysters and diamond clams. Actually I had so many dishes and they were all in fine dine quality. Venison tartar was new to me. My country provided no venison.
H.
attention to detail in the place is incredible. awesome craft cocktails, high end wines and whiskeys, small yet well balanced menu. Great charcuterie and cheese menu as well.
G.
Very cool bar staff were amazing one of my favorite bars in Queenstown.
S.
Kiwi Sunset cocktail is amazing
J.
The best beef brisket and pork belly we've had. Melts in the mouth. Fantastic cooking and equally amazing hospitality from the staff.
C.
It is a great location with a lovely atmosphere and offers great drinks/cocktails but food portions are small. It’s more snacks than dinner and expensive for what you get no matter how delicious.
P.
Good selection. Very nice locally sourced drinks, wonderful staff, excellent tasting food. Serving size not big but still quite filling. Very satisfying.
M.
The service was amazing and food was delicious. Also amazing cocktails. Just loved our servers friendly and kindness.
R.
Perfect. Great staff. Great food. Really enjoyed the drinks menu.
J.
Great service, drinks and food in an incredibly relaxed atmosphere. I thought it would be overpriced but it was very reasonable; especially given the location and level of service we got.
G.
Amazing raw and incredibly fresh
Menu designed by Matt Lambert showcasing NZ's finest produce. The extensive wine list by NZ master sommelier - Cameron Douglas is also incredible. The oysters can not be skipped and the Kingfish was a table
Favourite.
R.
Wide drink and cocktail selection with some delicous food options. Definitely recommend stopping in and enjoying the hospitality plus the great view over the lake
R.
Great drinks, but the staff were clearly overworked and service was slow. Not sure if this is a common experience, but thought it worth mentioning.
R.
Great place to have a drink or two. Great view. Reasonable price.
C.
Lovely place to have a drink. Friendly staff. Would recommend.
r.
Love the atmosphere. Staff are efficient and helpful.
Drink prices a little high but a nice experience overall.
G.
What a great bar. The service is fantastic, the food excellent but the staff are what makes this the place to be. Could not recommend more.
G.
Favourite place in Queenstown to have a coffee and watch the world go by. Food is pricey, but everything is delicious (the pie is a must try).
G.
Small but well thought out menu and great NZ wine list

This place is uber cool particularly for the mature client. Great wine list, excellent food and friendly staff.
