A few of us were visiting the beautiful golden bay, and stopped in here to refuel with some lunch!
What a great choice!
We each ordered a coffee (Flat White) a seafood chowder each and a fisherman's basket to share.
The Coffee was delicious, as coffee often is!
The chowder was thick and creamy, and not too rich which is nice. The fish and seafood in the chowder were fresh, and there was also a good amount of vegetables, providing some nice textures and expanding the flavour profile, without detracting too much from the seafood.
The fishermans basket was nice, with Mussels, Scallops, fishbites, squid rings and chips. Well cooked in clean oil, and a nice selection of sauces.
A great stop over for a well priced feed, and also a good bar with a pool table just incase the weather is not so flash!

Delicious fish and chips and we sat outside at the picnic tables in their garden , on the waters edge . Beautiful views .

We stopped here for dinner one busy Friday two weeks ago and I ordered the blue cod and chips. The blue cod was overcooked and the batter greasy. The side salad looked so small I felt sorry for it. My husband had a steak chips and salad. The portion size was very small and at $30 each for the mains they felt very over priced. We sat outside which was nice and the beer was reasonably priced. They were nice enough to substitute kumera chips for potato chips and over all the experience was okay.

Great family feeling bar, with plenty of cheap food and beers available for a small town. Has a great sunset balcony at the back, and plenty of seats within. Does takeaways, gluten free options, milkshakes, pies, chicken and more. Heaps of beers, RTDs etc in the fridges too if you don't want anything on tap.
The burgers are absolutely delicious! I'd recommend the takeaway menu as it is great bang for your buck.

Lamb shank was good, but the pre-frozen vegetables were bad. Seafood platter was greasy and very average, batter made everything worse. Roast beef was just ok. Overall would probably avoid but not too many options really. Beer on tap was good.
R.
Standard tavern but did a surprisingly good cheese burger. Lots of outdoor seating overlooking the inlet, big carpark. Busy when the farewell spit tour is loading. Much better alternative than the antivax cafe

What would you inspect from a little piece of pretty much old NZ, my wife and family grew up here. Nothing really changes as us the speed of things, the loopies as we are now called come and do the town loop. But the wise ones slow down and see all that is happening around them. The weather as usual is ever changing with sun exploding with brilliance every morning. So do traverse the little takaka hill at a gentle pace, slow down and smell the roses.

Awesome place with a lovely view if you want to dine alfresco. Totally love their chicken, potato & gravy.
c.
Charming bar staff - nice hot chips. Other bar food available. Indoor and outdoor seating.
K.
Good food, great friendly staff. Always a pleasent visit
J.
Love coming here, such an awesome layout. Got seating right by the Lagoon, outside, inside. So much here and very reasonable!

Great place to stop for a meal, lovely fresh fish 🐟 staff pleasant and cafe very clean.

My wife and I had a lovely meal here on Friday 23 April 2021. Nothing more than good pub fare, but it was good. My wife had the roast on the day (chicken) and thought it lived up to the price point. Only comment was that the use of fresh broccoli and carrots would be a big improvement over the pre frozen vegetables. I had the rib eye. It was cooked to perfection. The mushroom sauce visually appeared pale and anemic, however the flavour was fantastic. Recommended to anyone who wants a good quality pub meal.
Update: Sat 24 April 2021. My wife and I decided to have takeaway from the Collingwood Tavern tonight. We waited 30 minutes or more for our meal - a bit longer than I expected for a two person takeaway order. My steak burger was very good, however my wife had ordered the Blue Cod and chips - $9 per fillet for the cod. When we got back to our motel we were very disappointed with two aspects of the fish. Firstly it was not blue cod, maybe blue nose or something, the flakes were way too big for cod. More importantly it was not fresh - it smelled awful and was inedible. Very disappointed.

This was very good, food and variety is great, service also neat with very friendly ladies and quite chatty when you go to the kitchen and say thanks which was well deserved. Always nice to say thanks, too many people don't and the service staff and kitchen staff are working very hard generally. May be a little on the expensive side for the likes of the Blue Cod main but some allowances must be made for the remoteness of Collingwood.
Overall it was all very, especially as they stay open for the buses doing the tour to Cape Farewell and the Spit.
d.
Bloody good lunch cool beers
d.
Had a drink and chips after driving to farewell spit from Motueka
J.
Great place for a quick beer after a long walk on the beach.

This was a welcome pit stop after a long day. The facilities were impeccably clean and the food was generous and affordable. A good selection of beers on tap too.
There is sunny or shaded seating overlooking the estuary which was really nice
R.
Brilliant. Super friendly staff, massive menu of great food.
Perfect place to watch the setting sun with a coldie in hand and magic meal on the table.
J.
Stopped by this place for a taste of Golden Bay fish n chips .. chips were top notch, blue cod was really fresh & had a really nice light batter :)
I.
Great lunch, we had the Loaded Wedges and the Macaroni Cheese both of which we enjoyed. Good selection on the menu and great service.

Nice wee pub at the end of a long ride. Great staff, very friendly. Cheers from the Patriots!
M.
I got the Gluten free beef burger and kumera fries for $15 absolutely beautiful meal!
i.
Called in at lunchtime & had the most delicious steak & cheese pie; went back for dinner, although my rib eye steak & my partners flounder were cooked perfectly, $100 for 2 was slightly excessive. 1 entree, 2 mains, 1 beer & 1 non-alcoholic drink. Seafood chowder nice. Staff & locals friendly & welcoming.
C.
Food and drink are as normal as other restaurants. However, the beach view is so nice. There is also a little playground for your kids. Tables are availablr in house, garden and also right next to the beach. We came here for lunch but quite late so the restaurant is empty, I could not tell how crowded it is during peak hours. Anyway, the staff is helpful.
R.
Good service, nice surrounds 2 pieces blue cod salad and chips $38 a bit expensive, but was tastie, blue cod on open sandwich was better value and delicious. I would visit again for sure.
W.
They forgot our order and we were the only people there! Only got it because we asked after 30 mins! Finally got our fish and chips 50 minutes after ordering, but no compensation for the wait. However, the good was good and the beer cold, so not completely doom and gloom.
K.
We have been here a few times now; service is friendly and quick, prices are relatively low, atmosphere is good and food is real nice. Burgers are delicious with fresh and tasty coleslaw and the ribs are one of the best ribs we've had. Thanks, jack & kati

If you are an affectionate of rural kiwi tavern the Collingwood fits the bill perfectly. Friendly staff, nice location, good stodgy pub grub proving how important it is for expectations to match reality.
S.
Good little pub and restaurant, not a fan of their dine in meals though. The takeaways are alright.
I.
Very friendly place. Great staff. Great range of food. Lots of space. Excellent play area and toys for kids, outside sandpit.

Had an amazing meal there, the staff is so helpful. They have the best sunset views. I don't know why this place doesn't have the best ratings
K.
Good country pub, never tried the food so unsure of the quality. Now tried the food, it's very good with gluten free options and a dedicated frier for chips!
