Reviews of The Riverhead
C.
We had a lovely lunch at The Landing yesterday, very nice food and probably the best chips I've ever had! Very friendly service, nothing was too much trouble. My only complaint was I thought $18 for a small panacotta dessert was quite overpriced.
Y.
What a beautiful restaurant!!! Had a great lunch with family! We were sitting next to the river, beautiful view and food is just another level!
c.
Came here on the Red Boat cruise. Wonderful experience on the boat and at the restaurant. Food was amazing at the service great.
V.
This was my second time dining at The Riverhead and we were so happy with everything. I didn't get a chance to take a photo of the food because we were all too excited to eat.
I'm not a vegetarian, but even the vegetarian dishes here look amazing. We tried the kimchi risotto and it was just perfect.
The ribs and the fish & chips are, of course, delicious too!
Black Forest Gateau pictured was the best ending.
L.
Food was good.
View on the deck is amazing.
Couple of items took awhile to reach the table.
Waiters were very friendly

We visited The Landing Restaurant of this place during our trip to Kumeu and I gotta say, I’m so impressed ! Super nice and fancy ambience, top notch customer service quality and also, mouthwatering taste of food. I love how polite, professional and thoughtful the staffs here are. Very well presented dishes and gorgeous decorations/interior designs. This place did not disappoint me at all. Will definitely be coming back here in the future !
G.
Great kids meals. Had the seared tuna as a light lunch. Can't wait to bring a boat up fir a visit
S.
Riverhead has always been a special place to visit and roam around. With all the breweries, farms and specially Riverhead Tavern. It's a wonderful place to have lunch on a sunny day, with views of the river and the forest.
J.
Delicious, melt in your mouth food. Served by lovely staff! Great selection of drinks & a good IPA! We love The Riverhead, plus, just look at this view 😍
a.
Ambience was calm and soothing. We tried vegan /vegetarian food was just awesome.
Love to visit again 💕
S.
Good ribs. Shoe string fries are always a good munch with a great beer.
The cheesy garlic bread, I'll not order next time.
I've only just started making my own garlic bread at home and now I need that devine garlic soaked soft middle and crusty outside.
Love apple crumble and getting that right is not easy. Timing is everything.
I added vanilla ice cream and that topped off a good evening in our first time at the Riverhead.
A.
Good beers on tap. Good beers off tap. Mates chicken wings looked like they left a bit to be desired but hey, they have dedicated motorbike parking and that slings the Riverhead into the top 10 bars in Auckland. As they say, west is best. And the Riverhead tavern is as west and best as they come. 5 stars.
N.
The staff are super friendly and helpful. Really good service. It was a beautiful day and we were given a fantastic table on the deck overlooking the river. It's got gorgeous trees too, which gave us shade. I ordered the vegetarian dumplings as an entree which were fantastic. I could have picked up the bowl to drink the sauce!! My main was fish of the day - snapper with a spinach puree, pickled radish and kale - absolutely gorgeous. If I am being perfectly honest, and I am fussy about fish, the fish was just a little on the dry side but it was still fantastic. The colours of the food were stunning.
K.
My girl friends and I went on a quiet Monday and we were so happy because there were not many places open on a Monday. Glad we went here for our much needed break. Food we had were nice and satisfactory. Staff were attentive to our needs. Surely we will be back again.
K.
Looking forward to spending more time here. Only stopped for a quick hazy (just moved into the area) and loved the whole feel of the place. Great staff, patrons all happy, yummy beers. Will post again after trying the eats. 🍻
A.
Excellent menu, setting and service. Price reflects the quality of offering. A big step up from a couple of years back and will certainly return for more. Tuna and dumplings our favorite dishes of the night.
N.
Very nice restaurant with outside dining with umbrellas for shade.
Staff were attentive and courteous answering any questions about drinks and food.
Food was excellent from the menu as our group had a variety of dishes to choose from and the desserts were divine.
The selection of wines and other drinks were good as well including their own spring water in a decanter.
Payment was by the bar or exit as you leave.
Prices were reasonable.
All out a wonderful day out celebrating our friends Birthday.
J.
We went for dinner last night & really enjoyed it. The food was great, the outside space felt good with a chill family sort of environment, and the food was was received in a timely manner. We will return again 🌟
s.
I love coming here. The food is just amazing , the service is top class and the staff are always willing to give you some banter and share a laugh which just makes it so special.. Thanks to Michael who on just his third shift agreed to wish my girl a happy birthday and celebrate it with a song ..Top class and so much fun.. all the staff were willing to do that.. can’t wait to come back
A.
Beautiful setting. Service was OK. Food was a bit average but first day back in months so fairs fair. I'd go back and my friends who had the pork were super happy. I went there in 2019 and everything was mint. So I'm certain when they get back in the swing of things.
H.
Excellent lunch. My confit de canard was as good as any I've had in France.
We were a party of 13 and everyone was happy.
Lovely boat trip by Red Boats.
P.
Wonderful place. They have a sport bar and an amazing restaurant. For Fiday and Saturday it would be better to make a booking and then go for dinner. Ample parking space for cars.
M.
So fun cruising up on the Redboat from Birkenhead, stunning setting and delicious food.
S.
Had a few beers, including the tasting paddle. Lovely outdoor area, cool staff. Look forward to trying out the restaurant.
j.
Great place lovely outside area that was pumping, good selection of beers and excellent prices. We didn’t eat but the food coming out looked like good olde traditional pub grub. Shame we had to drive otherwise I could have felt a session coming on
A.
As always, amazing food and fabulous setting.
D.
Lovely ambience in the restaurant. Good wine list. We had some garlic bread to start, and they kindly did half without cheese for me - yum. I had the pan - seared snapper dish for my main course. The fish was nicely cooked, with skin on. The potato and pea mashes were made more special by sitting in a yummy scampi broth. My husband had the chicken dish for his main course, and said it was good. We were too full for dessert. A lovely evening out, thank you 😍
M.
Good outlook, pleasant dining, good food and friendly service, albeit these covid requirements being so bloody frustrating when applying common sense, not a reflection on the establishment, been here several times and hopefully not the last.
b.
Everyone raved about it so I went
The burger was so raw that it wasn't edible so that's 2 stars for the food
The band was OK and the patrons friendly
Hopefully after Covid they can show me this 'fabulous ' place again because I expected more on it's 1st day back
p.
Really nice pub and great atmosphere. If you're not a meat eater then its slim pickings here, however the vegetarian burger was freaking amazing and would go all the way back just for that.
C.
This place is lovely! We had a really great meal in the restaurant, with a view over the river and a helpful waitress serving us. Well worth a visit!!!
C.
Amazing country clean spacious, especially for a wedding. The host taught us a few things loved it. Food was delicious and you will crave for it!!!
T.
Great service and food. The location is spectacular.
S.
awesome spot and the staff were great!!
Food is pretty good too but you can’t beat this place on a warm day, the music, the people, everything is absolutely awesome!
Have the best time :)
S.
Very pleasant place to eat especially in summer, but be warned it will be hot on a sunny day. The lavatories were clean. The food come out in quick time and was delicious.
B.
Great settings indoors and out at this venue. Diverse menu and great service from a diligent crew. Would return and recommend.
A.
After terrible service at Halleratu, The Landing was a breath of fresh air. From start to finish, the staff were kind and attentive. Their experience as a well established venue showed. After a few hours in the hot sun picking strawberries, the beers went down well as we sat on the deck under the acorn trees, admiring the river below. Our server (a young Indian lady) was awesome. 2 of our group are vegan and they had a few decent options, including desert. A ‘fake beef’ burger wouldn’t go amiss though 😋😉 Food and drinks came out quickly.
Overall a great experience and can’t wait to return!
Pictured below is the vegan panacota and the vegan beetroot gnocchi.
R.
Very nice atmosphere and great view. Food was good and quick. Recommended
E.
Relaxing outing on Redriverboats from Z pier to The Landing restaurant. Friendly welcome, lovely not overcrowded seating inside as well as outside. Interesting historical pieces inside being the oldest riverside tavern in NZ. We appreciated the attention staff paid to detailed service. Meal was delicious and well presented, portions just enough, a happy place that we will visit again.
R.
We're back two years later and its still great we prefer the public bar its lively and friendly and good food we had the antipasto plater for two with extra cheese orsum. Photo posted.
5 stars for being a down to earth watering whole. These guys have the mix right good big pub food with atmosphere 🍺👍I had the Ribs 7/10 & my wife had Scotch she gave it a 6/10 and that's good marks. Food Prices are at the top of the range 4/10
C.
The Staff were super kind and provided excellent service, and the food was superb, amazing place to sit, eat and drink after picking strawberries. The Lemon Pottet was out of this world.
T.
Wow what a spot. Great atmosphere and the food was lovely. There are so many different seating areas it feels like 3-4 different bars/restaurants all at once. Staff were professional and polite and the food was really nice. Fresh fish too.
N.
Listen, listen - listen to me now please. You can't listen if you are still talking. Put your phone down.
We had a sensational wedding anniversary dinner here, where the staff really looked after us. Nice table with a view of the River, complimentary Proseco on arrival, and they even gave us a 'Happy Anniversary' card!
Proper hearty food too, none of that poncy overhandled stuff with foam that you can get in the City.
Super stuff!
C.
Lovely place to sit looking out over the river at high tide (not from all tables). Expensive food with small portions but tasty.
I.
Absolutely outstanding food. Just brilliant. Lovely service. Good atmosphere & views
L.
Very very friendly staff. Food tasted alright. A bit pricey and had 15% surcharge on public holiday which is definitely on the high side.
m.
Fantastic place, take a boat up the river, or car, but worth a trip out to it. Popular with bikers as well. The service was fantastic. We had a group of 17 and everything was done well, in a good time. The food was great, upmarket pub style. The ribs are Soooooooooooooo good, Pork belly beef cheek also great. Fish and chips serving was very generous.
r.
All in all a great place to go and the meals have always been a good size allthough on our friday night visit we were dissapointed with the lamb dish allthough beautifully prepared and presented with interesting new flavors we were glad that we got the side of beatutiful chips as we felt that most of the lamb had not gotten the memo and was still eating grass as what was served for two would have been better served on one plate to one person, the price reflected a decent meal yet that is not what we got.
We were impressed with the staff as always and the meal was lovely but felt like getting somthing on the way home🤷♂️
G.
Great food and ambiance + location (Salt & Pepper Squid in the photo). Also all staff were super nice.
T.
I have just had one of the best eye fillet steaks in a long time! It was juicy, tender and the Jus and those black and brown blobs made the steak! It had roasted cauliflower and a potato bake too... Absolute winner!!!
S.
Good food, generous portions. Very nice venue to eat and have some drinks.
D.
Experience was excellent at The Landing restaurant. Wait staff sat us and introduced the specials to us. I had the fish and beer battered chips, and the fish was really fresh and sweet. The atmosphere was good too, and the place was very classic wooden venue. The view dining on the deck area was good as you look down into the forested and estuary area of the river.
S.
That restuarant itself gets super busy! I enjoyed my time here it was a little getaway! Journey to the restaurant was by boat! The highlight was the food! Ans service was excellent.
C.
Awesome spot to get out of Auckland, hefty charge of a public holiday but I’m drinking in the sun and they are working! Fair! Service was nice but collect your own food, unsure why it wasn’t busy at all. You can can also catch a boat here from the city. Promo place. Also attended a wedding here another time and they all did a excellent job
F.
The Riverhead Trivia/ the Landing restaurant is beautiful, the view is beautiful, the food is good but the main portion is very small comparing to the dessert one, prescription is beautiful the service was not a great comparing to other places, meals took ages to arrive, we ordered 9 desserts only one served and after waiting and waiting for the rest of the desserts we asked the waitress about it and she looked confused then she went I she got the rest straight away I think the rest of the desserts we're forgotten to be served!!!
The outside setting is beautiful and there is a blankets if you feel could while you enjoying your time and
To imrove thier service they need more attention to train the staff and more staff during the busy season and the weekend, some of thier meals like the roasted duck I had need to be a little bit more generous in portion towards how much you pay for this meal.

Friendly enough service. Nothing spectacular. The meals are small unless you are ordering the ribs. The outdoor deck where you eat has something weird on the roof...
e.
Beautiful and historical until today I'd never been to Riverhead let alone the idyllic tavern until set alongside the river and waitemata harbour. The food, service and ambiance wonderful and very accommodating. Won't be the last time!
M.
Not that it is the best restaurant in Auckland but it is everything it says it is and nothing less. The service was prompt, friendly and thoughtful. The meals were quick, accurate and all together. Food was yummy, fish of the day, fish and chips and chowder were banging. Desserts were good too, would increase the sauce on the sticky date pudding but otherwise a treat. Even better when the sun is out and you can sit on the deck.
S.
One of the main reasons I enjoyed The Riverhead is the authentic building. The place supports both easy bar appetizers and full entree meals. The centralized kitchen serves both sides of building well. I would recommend this for great change and dining experience you view the Rangitopuni Stream is nice setting even at low tide when I was there.
T.
Lovely rural views overlooking the estuary,
food portions are small but we'll presented and tasty, staff friendly
E.
Some guests are rude, may be had too much to drink. There's no shortage of space but some table seating leaves a narrow gap to sit comfortably. However the food smell good but did not try as appetite was spoilt by their rude guests. Good view with plenty of cocktail and wine choices.
K.
Lovely outside area where you can bring the dogs after a walk at Riverhead Forest. Beautiful view. Food is alright just a bit expensive but more of a place to relax with the dogs, friend and family and have a beer in the sun.
A.
Celebrated a birthday here today. Food, service and environment were all fantastic. Will definitely be back
R.
Even though the kitchen was getting thrashed on a very busy public holiday afternoon, our food was great and the service was excellent. We appreciated the individual attention our group received. Would definitely return!
S.
The food was great. Well priced. But the service was only OK. Some waitors/waitresses are better than others.
C.
The food portions are really really small but did taste amazing and the cocktails were delicious but service was EXTREMELY slow
G.
Always a great place to go on a summers evening, great a la carte restaurant and pub in a nice setting.
K.
Love the foods and great location beside the river, we have the wonderful moment and enjoy the meals.
B.
The food was great! The place was crowded so was noisy but lovely. The service was average, but I partly think that had to do with how busy they were.
L.
Lovely pizzas nd chips, great service, friendly staff
P.
What a superb place! We took the Red Boat cruise up the harbour and then had dinner at The Landing restaurant. The food was excellent, although on the more expensive side. Service was outstanding. Highly recommended.
D.
Dined at The Landing restaurant (as opposed to the Bar itself next door) for Lunch. Group of 7 including one child. We sat outside by the Riverside and the views were lovely. The food wasn't cheap, but the servings were reasonably generous, even the entrees. The wait staff were courteous and efficient. I ordered The Burger which was tasty, if nothing really special. Kids menu was decent and his portion was also quite large (he also had the burger). As a nice bonus they provided a flash colouring in and activity set to keep him busy. Busy atmosphere but not noisy at least where we were seated.
A.
Stopped by for a coffee and a dessert. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Had the Chocolate Delice which was absolutely superb! The deck is an excellent area to enjoy the summer weather while you relax.
S.
Wow!!! We just had a faultless night out. Location, atmosphere, food and service was absolutely brilliant. These guys have totally got their dining experience act together. Thank you soo much for such a wonderful meal. Check out the dessert pic - yummmm!
S.
Lovely place and good food, getting a little pricey of late
S.
Amazing service, amazing food. Also very siick how you can pull up in a boat and just enter. Amazing
L.
Lovely venue, great view from our table. Attentive service and very good food.
B.
Always a pleasure on a motorbike - parking right outside and beautiful surroundings. The cheeseburger and chips were fantastic!
T.
Awesome view. Burger is all good, careful with the small plates, they’re really small!!!
E.
I like the Riverhead even if it is a bit out of the way.
Maybe that’s the charm. When it stops being a summer tourist pub and returns to the locals past the peak period it’s a lovely watering hole with such friendly people.
Lovely place if you’re out on date night or just getting to know each other again. Enjoy.
G.
Friends took me to this pub for lunch & it was fantastic.
Food was delicious & came promptly.
Friendly & accommodating staff
A beautiful & easy drive from Auckland.
Even on s rainy summer day the atmosphere was very pleasant.
Parking was no problem.
Looking forward to going back again next year.
S.
Spectacular place and magnificent scenery with exotic irish coffee . Loved it. Highly recommend
T.
The food was amazing. We had entre, main and dessert, and kids meal. None of us could fault a single thing. The staff were awesome - very friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. Nice ambience. My family are local and say it's very consistent. Will be back again next time I'm in town. Highly recommended. Worth the price.
C.
Was beautiful food & pina colada! 1st time there. Lovely view of river 😍
P.
Highly recommend for a team day out. We had a great time, and the service was fabulous, and the food to a high standard. Very accommodating staff, and the restaurant is relaxing and clean.
L.
The service was amazing and the atmosphere was just right for us as we sat inside, away from the noise, it was the perfect setting for our date night. Our food was absolutely scrumptious. Loved the garlic ciabatta and the scotch fillet steak was cooked to perfection! For the price, it was worth it! We left satisfied and happy!
G.
Everything good from the welcome to the beer to the food.
Lovely place.
K.
Really good food and service!
Asmeta(might not be correct spelling) was so lovely !
R.
Fabulous place to get a meal, were so lucky to have such a fantastic business out West, that we can get to for some many occassions. My partner and I enjoy the restaurant, for something a bit nicer for dinner, great service, lovely venue, and foods wonderful. Thank you for what you provide for us all to enjoy.
G.
Awesome atmosphere! Great finger food! Had a good time with the Stokes Logging crews!
E.
Nice view all food are delicious
m.
Service fantastic ....
Seating great
Meals fantastic ...coctails great!
Atmosphere fantastic
V.
A nice looking place and scenery. The majority of meals look fairly nice, I just pick the wrong ones I guess. I wasn't too impressed with the pork belly, a lot of money for nothing much. But, some of the other meals looked quite nice and with realistic portions.
D.
Good food with big portions. You cant beat the ribs. Had the ganache for dessert, but the apple pie looked better.
D.
Great location out of the city and a view over tidal part of the Waitemata Harbour. Even in middle of winter we ate out on the covered deck warm and dry. Food is good with big menu and good selection of dishes from Seafood through to steak. A lot of large groups on the weekend so initial order taking can be a bit haphazard. But delivery of the meals is fast.
M.
Riverhead tavern is so decent, I'd recommend it. Bloody good beer.
V.
Unbelievably delicious food. Fantastic attentive staff and a happy relaxing atmosphere. One of the best lunches I have ever had. That kokoda should be illegal its that good. Congratulations on running a beautiful restaurant. 10 out of 10.
D.
Good customer service and the food is great. The prices are expensive, but worth it. Good vibe.
Its recommended to book a table as the place is bit busy in the evenings.
Overall awesome experience.
P.
Great place for friends to dine and drink especially at high tide
P.
Friendly and welcoming from the moment you walk in, the interior is well decorated and suits the atmosphere. There are fantastic views across the river. Great choice of food, can recommend the ribs!
K.
Great place and good food, the gurgee and choos was excellent
C.
Fourth time lucky. We finally got a table with friends. Great ambience and good desserts.
C.
Great food and service in a beautiful setting.
C.
Great service from the staff, very professional (the way it should be in a restaurant). Absolutely beautiful food, and stunningly positioned on the river. Highly recommend a visit for dinner - would be a great place to take your someone special for dinner fallas
R.
Lovely day. Beautiful setting. Our gorgeous French waitress was a delight. My friend had a steak which wad perfect but no dressing like mushrooms or onions..my prawn salad $24 with only 4 prawns
Hello maybe I should think the 4 stars
D.
Great place! I want to come back for dinner
S.
Nice lunch with Mum, burger was good quality and nicely cooked. Topped off with a cold beer and great views of the harbour watching the birds. Friendly and efficient service especially given the level 2 precautions.
A.
Great place and vibes! Amazing food!! Always order ribs or the burger when we go here. You can't go wrong!! Well priced for what you get! Recommend to those that haven't been here 110% worth a stop in!
L.
Had dinner here last night, the food was impeccable!!! All 5 of us raved about our meals. Great cocktails 🍸as well. Lovely ambience and staff! Thanks team.
P.
Took the Riverhead ferry cruise from Z pier to get here. A very pleasant journey up the river followed by a decent meal in a warm and friendly environment. Food was good but not outstanding. On a wet day there's not a great deal to do, we went for an amble before getting the boat back, maybe we went the wrong way, but basically we wandered around an upmarket housing estate, not exactly what we hoped for, no riverside footpath, which would have been nice.

Nice place to enjoy brunch at deck while looking out riverside.
P.
Consistently good place to visit. It used to be in the country, but now Auckland's suburban sprawl is overtaking the surroundings. Food & drinks at city prices but still good value.
B.
Place was very popular and busy. Staff very helpful. Bit pricey but the chips we got were fresh, well drained, well presented and tasty.
C.
We stopped at Riverhead for a bite to eat. Lovely scenery of the river. I would suggest making a reservation at the dining room, as the outside area was very full and no tables available. The waitress who served us could do with some "training" or perhaps more experience she wasn't helpful!
D.
It's a nice setting. Pub food, nice on a weekend afternoon. Best way to experience is to arrive on water, go out on a nice kayak or boat trip up the river, makes the beer taste all that much better
D.
Had a wonderful lunch date at the restaurant here - was very busy for the holiday period but still served with only a short wait which was impressive and the staff were very friendly and courteous. The Peach Prosecco was super good! We had two lovely steak meals cooked perfectly to our liking and very decent portions. Loved the vibe and was easy relaxed atmosphere. (Would have loved some aioli with the chips otherwise utterly fantastic). Thanks :).
K.
What can I say... this place is one of my most favorite restaurants. They never let you down on any of your dishes! And the venue is so unique and beautiful I really cannot reccomend enough to anyone to go here. 10/10 easy!
H.
Tasty vegetarian lunch which came out super quick despite the restaurant being full. Friendly and simple service 👌
M.
Went with family for 80th Birthday lunch. Beautiful day to relax and eat outside in pleasant surroundings. Delicious meal served quite promptly by courteous staff, even though the restaurant was packed out completely. Sufficiently quiet outside to hold a conversation and no rush to finish. All in all a memorable birthday bash :).
G.
good food, great location, away from city
C.
Atmosphere is great...food is good with a wide selection available. ..live band "the renegades".
N.
Nice place, good ambiance, friendly staff and good food. Serving time a bit slow but could be because we dine in a busy hour.
m.
Great service, food lovely as are surroundings.
R.
Nice ferry ride up with a pleasant lunch which was surprisingly quick with the number of people.
F.
Never been before will definitely be back! Beautiful place and great staff. Food was exceptional with their ribs and John dory fish Highly recommend, see you again.
C.
The place was packed but getting a table and service was quick.
The meals are a bit on the expensive side, but the portions are large. So if you want a light meal perhaps consider sharing.
We had fish and chips, burger, and steak meals which were all well presented and tasted good.
The kids meals are also large :D so sleepy full kids.. bonus.
The barista coffee was great and well flavored.
Which was a highlight.
Some of the plates and cups were a little dirty which may be due to how busy it was .
Good place though.
a.
Pity the vegetarian options were so limited and the menu inflexible to accomodate a plant based customers
E.
Very friendly staff, yummy food and good ambience
N.
Lovely place to visit, prices are very reasonable, customer service great, food was delicious, but I think I enjoyed more than anything the views, breathtaking. Looking forward to our next visit.
Just one little detail, parking is difficult, but not an issue..
B.
Excellent, delicious food and cocktails. Family friendly and an extensive menu. Although even when not full, we struggled with getting attention from the wait staff, despite not hurrying anything along.
M.
Nice out on the back deck. We came between service's and felt a bit like we were a bit of an inconvenience. Best expresso martinis we have had.
S.
Great place. Great food. Good views.
O.
Food was delicious but expensive. The boat ride from Auckland City was nice, but bumpy and loud. Would not recommend the boat trip but the food is lovely.
F.
Fantastic food and a view to die for. A lovely and relaxed atmosphere and a perfect spot on a hot Summer's day to sip a cold brew.
J.
Lovely shaded table outside the more casual dining area. I was given free Heineken 0%alcohol drinks with every round brought by the group as I was the sober driver. Cool!
D.
Such a great location and awesome pub food. Best fries I've eaten in ages and generous fresh offerings. Can't beat lunch on the deck!
S.
Great place good sunday sounds sessions plus hens or stag do's lmao🤣🤣😁🤭
M.
Lovely pub with soul, great beer and food
W.
The Landing is a good Restaurant with a view of the River. We went at low tide with guests. Usually we go by boat but this time drove there as we had 2 guests that could not walk the stairs up from the landing.
Staff helpful (even after a mix up order) but definitely would go back there as the environment was perfect. Thank you
A.
Went for dinner with my partner for date night as we don't get them very often. I had the fish of the day which was snapper and my partner had the duck it was good would diff be going back staff was awesome atmosphere was also great.
A.
Nice food and beverages also good etitued

Despite not a great weather the view is still amazing. The food is great too, you have to try their ribs and the duck.
J.
Beautiful setting very enjoyable place for dinner
D.
Great spot for a Sunday lunch. Food was good, very fast service. The lawn out back was a great spot to sit and have a drink and listen to some pretty decent live music.
P.
Environment is good. Great views and staff were friendly. Plenty of carparks on and off street. The food is on the pricey end ($36 for the fish). The food is only ok and quanity is small. We ordered the fish of the day and a burger. Don't think we will go againnfor awhile.
S.
We had a fantastic Christmas Day lunch here. The food was amazing, beautifully prepared and presented . The staff worked so hard and were always smiling. Congratulations to the whole team. You were awesome.
I.
Food was first class. Loved it
P.
Mel is the best waitress ever her service is 100% she’s always taking care of my family and I! The food is as good as the service and really good only gutted they took off their lamb ribs as they were my favourite thing on the menu
Z.
Lovely place, fine meal and amazing view of the river from the deck area. Very busy restaurant so I strongly recommend to book your table ahead.
T.
Good for functions or just night out for dinner
B.
A very pleasant afternoon had in the garden bar area at The Riverhead. Such a nice location overlooking the upper reaches of the Waitemata on a fine day. Parking can be a bit of a challenge on weekends due to the sheer popularity of the place but it is a surprisingly large venue with multiple spaces and certainly not crowded on a nice day. Options to sit in the open or under the shade outside which is nice on a hot day.
I.
Service could be better, my meal was delicious. Weather not condusive to sitting outside. Must've been , lovely to come by ferry in days gone by.
D.
Cosy little pub with a outdoor area, food was nice and reasonably priced, I had the ribs which where tender and meaty just not as smokie and sticky as I would have liked, my only negative is they don't sell New Zealand finest beer, Steinlager.
M.
Easy access, good parking available and fresh ingredients used with the food, well worth a visit
M.
Lovely spot. My great great grandfather was there in 1860.
J.
Well appointed table, prompt service, ordered ribs, chicken, port belly and prawn salad. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Trout Valley Pinot Gris and Chardonnay well priced at $40 a bottle
B.
Good atmosphere, great food
J.
Nice view and atmosphere, staff is friendly. As we arrived at 3:30, the kitchen was closed at that moment. The staff suggested us some of the dishes available. We ordered the "favourite" fish and chips and the ribs. They are delicious. Recommended for all occasions.
B.
Good place to chill in the sun. Restaurant bar has been upgraded a lot but the whole area has in the last ten years. But you can still go down to the wharf and dunk your feet in the water. Still plenty of wildlife to look at. Parking is aplenty but this place does get packed out so be prepared. Maybe even book if you don't want to wait, or maybe you are happy chilling at the bar. Check it out
D.
Good pub food and monteith's on tap. I had ribs with chips, was nice. For dessert I got ice cream, asked if I could swap a flavor but they wouldn't do it, must be too hard to roll a different flavor, thought that was a bit lame.
L.
Fantastic conference location with great view, fantastic support and good food. The view and relaxing environment is a bonus :)
D.
Wow..... Beautifully done up pub. Got it all..... Topped off if you get there when the tidal Estury is full tide. Food....Exillent. Good range of lovely Tap Beers. Treat your selves.
J.
The best, service and meal, cheers to all staff
A.
Beautiful atmosphere, great food, friendly staff.
D.
Service was good and the cheese plate was worth the money. Great view over the river and a nice spot for a date also always a live band on the weekends so a great spot for a night out. Just watch put for the drink driving blitz and the various speed cameras in the area.
S.
Had our work end of year do here. The food was really good, as was the setting.
S.
The atmosphere is great. The best thing in this restaurant is the view! I recommend you to go on a sunny day to sit outside. Also remember to book a table in advance as if it is sunny it would be packed. Unfortunately I was expecting a bit more for a high end restaurant like this. The food was good, yet not amazing. And the wine selection was very poor. Also I was expecting the staff to be more senior on a restaurant like this.
C.
A stunning location overlooking the water. A very popular and busy venue but they offered zero service and an extensive wait for what turned out to be very average but over priced food. Live music was too loud for comfortable conversation. Great for outdoor summer dining but don't expect great value for money food or any table service.
H.
Had the best time great place to get together with friends
J.
Pretty good place although the burgers were pretty basic and small for the price. Good range of beers. The toilets were good. Oddly the place was busy as you would expect for a Saturday night but around meal time but un the space of an hour it was pretty much deserted.
B.
Great historic old pub. Excellent food. Friendly, efficient service. Attractive surroundings. Looks good. Feels good.
P.
I reviewed this tavern incorrectly, it does accept reservations.
We had excellent meals, the desert was interesting but delicious. The cost was not at all expensive. The service was prompt and the courtesy, first class.
Good place to go, for a quality meal in quiet surroundings.
M.
French maitre de was so obliging.
We stayed for lunch.
K.
It's been at least a year since I was there but have been a few times in the past as well. I love this place it has fantastic food fantastic atmosphere for a venue as well as going for a meal I have done both as well as arriving off the river. Staff are great as well
R.
We had our (belated) end of year staff lunch here. Almost every dish was a winner. The oysters were delish, the chips were cooked to perfection and the lamb(share platter) was the best lamb I have ever had. I would come back again just for the lamb.
The location and atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly.
The only thing stopping this from being 5 stars was my main, the crab pasta(linguine I think?), it was a bit lack lustre.
S.
Up market food, great beers fantastic setting!!
M.
We just had our wedding at The Boat House at the Riverhead.
We are an older professional couple. ....so we had VERY specific and ...high expectations about how we and our guests were to be treated on the day.
Nothing was an issue for the Riverhead.
We had a plated menu. The food was great!!
We can’t express how well we were looked after and how much all our guests raved about the food, service and venue.
GREAT food. GREAT service. We were treated like royalty and we sincerely thank everyone ... from management to waiting staff ...at the Riverhead for an unforgettable evening.
J.
Visited your restaurant on a busy long weekend but managed to get a table fairly quickly. Food was really good and delivered really quickly as well. While all the staff we encountered were very friendly, special mention to Dillon or Dylan (not sure how his name is spelt) who gave excellent customer service, friendly and attentive especially when it was so busy. Thank you :)
G.
The Riverhead just blows me away. The setting is fantastic with so much history. You have a big grass outdoor area that often has live music, this area also has it's own dedicated bar and not only that, you can also hire this amazing space for your party. Then you move onto the pub which is located to the left of the main building. Then there is the exceptional restaurant found in the right side of the building, which also flows out onto an outdoor seating area which looks over the Rangitopuni River. But wait there's more! You can come up the river to the pub all the way from Auckland city! There is a dock situated on the river where the ferries land. This pub really has it all.
R.
Awesome venue, good food.
S.
Beautiful place......worth the money fine food and love red wine xxx
T.
Nice place with good service & the food is also good...
S.
Great service and setting with a view of the river. However, the quality of the food did not reflect the high price of the meals we ordered.
J.
Nice place for meeting, delicious food and beautiful view.
G.
Nice deck with view of river. Only had drinks.
G.
We had my son's post wedding celebration here. We were treated extremely well. Very enjoyable. The staff were exemplary, the food was delicious and the servings impressive. We were there for four hours and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Highly recommended!!!
A.
I have been here a couple of times now with my partner and each time was absolutely amazing. The staff were kind and bubbly and the food was sensational! There was a really loud group beside our table and it was very thoughtful of the waitress to come and let us know when they were leaving. The drinks were good and even though they were busy it was fast service and good food. Thanks for the awesome night team! Keep up the good work 😊 definitely will be back!
j.
Absolutely gorgeous restaurant overlooking an estuary (that looks like rivers). Beautifully restored old tavern. High class menu and service. There are areas for bar service or private functions. Our meals were excellent. I had 'Tuna Kokoda' for entre then 'Confit of Duck' served with mandarin puree and a wine jus on silky parsnip mash & bok choy. Just delicious. Fish of the day was John Dory. They catered well for children with an excellent kids menu which included coloured pencils and a colouring in picture. The 'Clown' dessert went down very well with the kids. We would certainly return.
K.
Returning customers after a couple of years and was really happy with the improvemant and quality of the food. Nice staff, very helpful.
A.
Awesome food. Great service. We were a particularly big table and they made sure the food was all out at the same time
R.
Very personalised and attentive service. The menu is not huge but everyone will find something they like. A lovely ambience due to the social distancing rule..not too close to other diners which is unique!
C.
The staff were friendly but not that attentive, we had to keep following up with the rest of our order for quite some time, The food was nice but the mains were quite small portions
t.
Had a very enjoyable experience at the Riverhead. Food at the Portage bar was nice.
B.
We had our wedding at the Riverhead Boathouse and the day went so smoothly! Our on day coordinator was fantastic and made the lead up and day stress free! We also had so many compliments on the food (especially the salt baked beets!) Highly recommend the boathouse if you are looking for a wedding venue- you won't be disappointed!
M.
It took a while to get a waitress to get a drink order. They forgot the chicken off our caeser salad with chicken. It was more of an inconvenience for the waitress when this was brought up, no apology when the chicken was finally brought out. Went somewhere else for dessert and coffee and won't be back again.
N.
Food was great unfortunately we waited an hour to receive it. Other customers who were seated after us received their meals before our group.
J.
Great location. Lovely views over the distal end of Waitemata Harbour. Great buildings as well. Staff are always friendly but a little bit small town strange here. Get past that and you'll have a great time. Good menu, good food (the ribs are usually great). Decent wine list also.
J.
Lovely food and great service. Definately worth a visit
E.
Great spot with lots of different areas. Good food too. Will go back on a sunny afternoon! We caught the ferry but it was 1.5 hours each way!
V.
We all enjoyed our meals. It was a spectacular evening out on the veranda. The staff were fabulous & even managed to pick up on the fact it was a low-key birthday celebration & brought the birthday girl's dessert with a candle. Thanks team, we'll be back!
K.
Great music. Nice friendly staff Good atmosphere. Drinks are expensive but worth the visit. Had a great day .
j.
Late afternoon dining to celebrate a birthday. Our first waitress was absolutely wonderful - bright, chatty, informative and it was obvious she enjoys being there. The other two were okay I guess they may have been a bit tired as it was a Sunday. The food though was nothing exciting. Looked great but didn't taste as it looked. I would try again as it's quite a beautiful setting.
J.
Ribs were awesome, but there was no sauce for the chips, took ages to get food - 45 minutes approx, staff had to be summoned instead of checking on tables, we had to ask for kids menus - obviously we needed them as we had kids... duh. Venue was nice and surroundings were beautiful, just slightly let down by the staff and lack of condiments.
G.
Turned up early for booking but seated straight away as wasn't overly busy. Waitress pleasent enough, but.... after placing our meal orders, waited over 45 minutes for them to be served. All meals did not come at the same time. 1 out of 3 meals ok. Other 2 either lacked flavour or was rather greasy. Overall disappointing given the cost.
A.
Attended the staff party there.. we were about 100 staff members. The staff was courteous from the entry of the club. Food was amazing and staff made our time there comfortable. There was enough parking space. Staff was up their feet and quick to serve whatever we requested for. Drinks mixes were good. Overall a good experience.
G.
Great atmosphere, reasonable priced drinks and friendly staff. Nice place to have a quiet drink.
T.
Amazing atmosphere, excellent service and the place is just beautiful. Lovely view of the river as well from our table. Perfect Sunday afternoon
S.
Love the old pub. Was in the sports bar. The fire was going and it was nice and warm inside. The serivce was good. I had nachos for lunch. Serving size was good and it was tasty. Be careful of the jalapeños as they are hot. You might want to have them on the side and add them if you want. Overall a nice experience. Oh, and the beer was delicious. 🍺😁
S.
Nice place. Good service. The burger was supposed to be medium rare but was more like medium to well done so was not as juicy as I would like. The chips were nicely cooked but they are too thick. Thinner chips would be much more enjoyable.
N.
I felt that the restaurant went through a bad patch a couple of years ago, with an uninspired menu and average waiting staff. However have been twice so far this summer as there has been a great improvement in the quality of the food, the well thought out menu and the waiting staff who have obviously gone through comprehensive training. It’s not cheep, probably slightly expensive. Overall impression is good, However my “rare” steak was a bit tough last time. Will go back again as their efforts deserve it.
S.
Popped in here for a quick afternoon tipple, as we were in the area. The staff are excellent. We had a slightly out the box request and the barman took it in his stride and played along perfectly. The Jaeger is chilled and so is the music. What more could you want on a Saturday stop in?
M.
Great place to grab a fantastic lunch.
D.
Such beautiful food and attentive staff. Those beef cheeks 👌
P.
Easily worth another half star. Good food, woderful waitresses and a great selection of drinks. The crumble was great tonight !! If you like old style "pub" with the latest food and drinks, then The Riverhead is for you. Reasonable prices help. 5 mains, 4 deserts and 2 or 3 drinks each(3 non alcoholic !). $69 each. I will definitely be going again.
J.
An amazing place, so much history. Fantastic menu and staff are outstanding. Highly recommend a visit and a meal
M.
Good service and food. We tried just nachos to eat something with the drinks, the portion was huge! The area surrounding is very nice. The bar and a restaurant are separately. The restaurant looks very nice, definitely I would like to come back and try the restaurant menu dishes.
C.
Lovely food, cold beer, friendly service. The chilli chicken burger (real chicken breast) was superb.
E.
We sat in the Boat shed Resturant and it was very good. We chose a platter and a few dishes to go with it as there was 5 of us plus 2 pizzas a day was pleasantly surprised with it all. Very nice lunch.
K.
Delicious food and a very good selection for all. Would recommend booking a table as it does get busy, but you don't have to wait long for your order, even when full. Fish and chips are lovely and the ribs are very good with a decent helping. Lots of other options on the menu as we intend to go back and try more of them. Nice assortment of beers available also. Lovely out look to the river and access down to the dock where you can catch the ferry back to town or watch it coming in
R.
Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. The live music was fantastic. Food was great. Only downside is the cost. $22 for a burger and chips ? O.K. it was very nice, but don't think I'll be back in a hurry.
B.
I like the Riverhead Tavern. It is an unusual and unique location, and it has a long involvement in European settlement of the North West Auckland region.
Plus, and this is a big plus, it has good beer, good wine, good food, and a great deck for restaurant-level eating and drinking.
I think that the deck is called The Landing(?), which sounds a bit precious. But don't let that deter you. It's an excellent outlook and ambiance.
And, for the more casual eating, it has a very good public bar (The Portage) that serves good food and drink. Go for it.
M.
Really good establishment. Enjoy the vibe from the staff and the food and bar selection is perfect
F.
We go to The Riverhead almost every year for our anniversary. Love the food, atmosphere and service.
M.
Amazing setting, food and service. Love this place and highly recommend. Thanks for another great lunch yesterday guys!
D.
Less tables and people under lvl2 and not at that capacity and still took 45 minutes to get a beer and chips. Nice setting, nice bar, slow inattentive staff
R.
Nice view of the river, food was good. Polenta mash as a starter was tasty. Good sized piece of salmon for main. The only downer is that some tables outside get showered in debris off the trees when it's a bit breezy which is not ideal in your beer or meal.
M.
The venue is great, the staff are lovely, but the food can be a bit hit and miss. We ordered two burgers and two pizzas today. One burger was raw, as in inedible, and the other was very rare, unpleasant to eat, but edible. They replaced the raw burger no problem. One of the pizzas was very undercooked and the other was burned at the bottom. By this stage we'd given up with taking food back.
C.
Really good food and service. Reasonable prices for quality. Good parking.
L.
On our company mid-year event we headed to The Riverhead.
The trip from the city, on a boat, was a very nice experience, my first in NZ.
The restaurant is situated overlooking the river, with nature's tranquil atmosphere and scenery...
Good place with great company.
We were received well for a rowdy crowd lol.
We were move to a "private" room but we had fun.
The pork belly was scrumptious but not filling. So if you want to try get it as a side dish and NOT a Main!
Overall it was a very nice experience!
K.
Great fish n chips...and lots of interesting people and motorcycles to check out...
R.
We went on a Saturday for a family lunch, was a nice drive up and the place is a awesome building on the river side, perfect for a couple or group to have a lunch/dinner. Awesome as a wedding/party venue also.
The place was busy and most reviews say the food takes ages, it doesn't really, a bit longer then you'd like but otherwise perfectly fine if your not in a rush.
The only thing I can suggest to improve this place:
1. Fix your seating, they are so wobbly and not safe feeling, you can rock easily on them and they feel like they are going to fall apart. A restaurant should have solid furniture to relax in.
2. PUT CONDIMENTS on the tables or have table bottles ready to go, 3 of us go meals that were burgers with chips, and they came with no tomato sauce and when we asked we got tiny little dishes of sauces sent over. This just isn't good enough and it a waste of your staffs time, get bottles on the table or have them ready to go when they are asked for.
3. The burger, ensure staff as how they want the meat, we figured it didn't mention it so the meat would be well done. But when we got them they were medium rare (which is fine for 2 of us, but one couldn't eat theirs)
4. Staff....... they were rushed off their feet but some of the older staff were very snobby and even vented their work issues out in the open, one even said "I'm way to busy to deal with this" to the staff member next to me when I asked for some sauce.
THE CHIPS! They are to die for, best hot chips i've had in all my life!
L.
We had a group dining on a Saturday night. The staff were very friendly and the food was good / very good. The drinks and food service was all over very slow though, I would have ordered more if I hadn't 'lost my hunger' during the wait.
C.
Always good. Live band. Tasting paddles for beer. Well renovated. Had its own jetty. Now that the kids are older we can relax while the kids amuse themselves. Not to say that the kids don't come back for tasting platters of food. Multiple locations you can choose to sit at. Almost forgot the food is good too. It's not the only place nearby too. Both West had become the place to go for good food drink and ambiance in Auckland.
C.
We love the Riverhead. Great food, drinks, service and atmosphere. Great family place to go with our kids. Our daughter is coeliac and the staff always go out of their way to help with gluten free menu choices, discuss with the chef to make sure it will be safe. They have made her GF cheesy garlic bread, GF pesto pasta, GF burger, GF fish (pan fried) and chips (oven), ice cream. The kids love wandering down to the jetty and the colouring packs provided. Love it
A.
Gotta love Aperol Spritz!!! 🥰 Food was pretty delicious too.I had the cesear salad. They make their own dressing which is a bonus but the anchovies were whole which I was not a fan off. I'd rather then be blended into the dressing! No photo unfortunately.
S.
Relaxing and Enjoying place. Tasty foods for 4 of us and drinks. I would go back. Thanks for you restaurant services.
G.
Lovely position overlooking the river; good ambience - we were here for a shared venue Christmas function and the decorations were seasonal and in tune with the setting. Staff were helpful and I especially appreciated that they kept the water jugs refilled without needing to be asked, which too many places neglect. Buffet food was good and plentiful.
A.
Awesome venue and great food
P.
We had our wedding at the Boathouse in Feb and it was just perfect! The location, atmosphere, staff and the food were all exceptional and our guests had a great evening celebrating with us. Highly recommend!
V.
Had a yummy lunch at the Landing.
On the outside deck.....lovely view
J.
Friendly, prompt and efficient staff. Beautiful setting. Delicious food. Perfect.
H.
Very good food and service great. Nice atmosphere
Y.
Beautiful place with a lovely view of the river, and the food was excellent!! Im ready to go back for more.
A.
Great food, friendly staff and at a great price!
T.
Great atmosphere, food and service. Nice cold beers. Will be back. Live music today too
C.
Came for birthday lunch lovely venue, staff were great. But 3 scallop entre for $19 was over priced & the duck main wouldn't feed a sparrow. I've dinned here many times and have always enjoyed a good feed
But pull your socks RIV
K.
Loved it. Went there and back by boat. Had a gorgeous meal. Lots of different areas to eat/drink. Food superb! Staff fantastic!
G.
Great place to for a meal or just a drink. Very helpful and friendly staff. We caught the ferry from downtown Auckland to the restaurant - takes about 1.5 hours each way but is a very nice way to get there - heaps better than sitting in traffic.
D.
If you are going to go to the river head take the red boats to the tavern. The whole experience was awesome. The service at the tavern was first class. The meal was excellent and the prices were comparable to other eateries. All in all the whole experience was excellent.
J.
Had a great double date here after visiting the springs. I really enjoyed the warmth of the vibe. It almost felt like being inside of a nice comfortable lodge. I thought it was nice that they had a separate bar area for people who might want to have more of a rowdy time. The food was very good. Shared a nicely cooked lamb rump and a whole steamed flounder. Both were simple but very well prepared and packed with flavor. I also really enjoyed the creamy polenta side with lots of nice grated parmesan and a hint of truffle oil. I highly recommend this spot.
E.
Great historic old pub that's been renovated beautifully. Great location overlooking the water. Lovely decks to sit on in the summer. Food is good with something for everyone.
H.
It's a nice spot on the river with a vibey atmosphere. The food was good but not exceptional. Service was adequate. Worth considering if you want to take a Sunday drive out of the city.
A.
I visited this Tavern for a birthday celebration. Because it was a fine day we opted for outdoor dining under a very large umbrella which comfortably seated ten people.
There was an outside bar and commercial BBQ which you could order from.
It was a very lovely spot and is very popular, especially in the weekends. You can also visit the Tavern by boat, they have their own jetty. It is over 150 years old and is steeped in history.
I had a very enjoyable day, the staff and food was excellent.
I would highly recommend it.
R.
Went to the pub part for a quick feed. Shared platter with calamari, prawn horns, ribs and onion rings was great and would have been enough for four. Excellent value, thanks!
R.
What a great place to go to with prompt service, good portions and decent food quality.
R.
I took advantage of their advertised special, a 3 course set menu at 'The Landing'. Ad seen on FB, price and menu both sounded appetizing! We arrived, no problem getting a table for two. The restaurant was very cosy, warm and comfortable. The staff were very lovely, professional and attentive. For entree - mushroom soup. This was absolutely D-E-V-I-N-E! The best mushroom soup I have ever had!! Topped with small crunchy garlic flavoured croutons. YUM! YUM! YUM!! Main, Beef cheeks - was lovely and tender, but a very small portion for a main dish. A bit underwhelming. And the Yorkshire pudding was overcooked and dry. The dessert DELICIOUS!! A sweet mouth-watering chocolate fondant oozing with chocolate, and accompanied by a little dab of creme fraiche icecream. Devine!! A lovely dining experience, recommended! Cosy environment, excellent service, delicious food, well priced. Thank you!
C.
Had an amazing Angus burger here! Best part was they have gluten free options!! Fantastic place...I love sitting outside on the varandah type area. Staff were awesome here!
J.
The most recent time I went they had the set menu. Amazing food very top quality, loved the flavours and the presentation. Waiting staff were very helpful and friendly too. Highly recommend.
K.
Arrived by boat, great service, lovely venue
H.
Good selection of beers, cheese burger was tasty but pricey. Nice views and good ambience out back
M.
Spent a lovely few hours here. Great service, great atmosphere, really enjoyed our time there. Definately go back.
A.
What an awesome day in the summer sun
Tide came in with kayaks up the river, beautiful, Brenham Ham and band completed an awesome day, with ribs and chicken pieces yum yum yum very enjoyable thank you all I'll be back
B.
One of my fav's. A real pub.
P.
Just had a wonderful time at The Landing Restaurant. Great menu with something for everyone. Very pleasant service. Top notch!
P.
Very loud. We were there for a function. The buffet food was cold and the long tables were so close together we couldn't easily leave our seats. The staff were lovely.
P.
Have dined here a few times now. The restaurant I think may have a new chef, as the food is way better than last time I went. Enjoy the food and atmosphere, especially on a sunny day. The outdoor food is expensive for what you get, but a great place to stop in for a drink.
T.
Foods is okay, beautiful views
M.
Fantastic setting with multiple indoor and outdoor spaces overlooking the river. Food quality for our company dinner was excellent. We came by Red Boat ferry from Pier Z at Westhaven. Would love to visit again.
S.
Great atmosphere and food
L.
Had made a booking for our group and as we were running few minutes late my cousin rang to let them know only to get there and find out they had given our table to another group that did not book, the manager did was very helpful in trying to sort out alternative seating fir our group, in the end we ended up going to anither gastrobar just down the road
L.
Stunning view of the river, and good vibe for a weekend afternoon with live music. Came here by broad and understand that the place was busy and wait was unavoidable. However, the wait ended up an hour. Most disappointing thing was that the burger was almost cold when we received it..
T.
We were in the bar bit. Really nice bar staff. Great atmosphere. Turned up too late for live music. Just makes me want to go again so I don't miss it again 👍
M.
Lovely place, excellent food and great beer and wine list
F.
Always good, we spent a great few hours sitting outside by the river, great service and sharing platters of food.
D.
Attended a wedding here last weekend. Amazing, great venue, fantastic food, friendly staff, facilities were spotless. All around this was the best wedding venue I have ever been too. Congratulations on making the day perfect for Stephanie and James.
G.
Had lunch. Excellent service, varied menu, seated overlooking water. Food was very good. Busy at the time but quick service. Staff exceptional.
A.
Beautiful location for a wedding and other event. Drinks are reasonably priced and the food is fantastic. Not too far from Auckland city. Would highly recommend for an afternoon visit.
R.
Lunch with out of town friends last Sunday the 2nd June.. Decided to take them to Riverhead Tavern. Arrived table was not ready, ok, drinks order taken, came back forgot 1 drink. Table ready now drinks to arrive at the table. Waited another 10minutes before they arrived. Peachy Prosecco --minus the "Peach" just Prosecco quickly changed to Sauv Blanc. Bloody Mary, tomato juice was very very watery, quickly changed to Bourbon (second bourbon took forever in coming). Ordered lunch meals arrive, and were really great. Could not fault them. Asked for the dessert menu, did not appear, asked again, still nothing. No coffee offered either. By this staged we just gave up. No one at bar, front desk or anywhere when leaving. The food was great the service not so good. 3 stars because of the food only. I have been twice before and could not fault it. But this time.....mmmmm.
L.
Beautiful Restaurant with an amazing bar..Such a family oriented feel to this place..Friendly & Fast Customer Service. Experience is top notch
N.
Nice restaurant with good views of the estuary. Very busy especially on weekends, so the staff tend to be rushed but polite. The menu is a bit carb heavy for me, but there are plenty of options. The beer selection is a bit limited.
N.
Lovely pub riverside.pub food great.a pleasure.
K.
Beautiful setting with gorgeous views. Food is fresh and delicious big serves so you get your money's worth.
J.
Lovely venue above the river, nice staff, menu slightly limited but very well presented, decent flavours without being spectacular. Great for a sunset glass of wine and a dependable meal with it!
M.
Very nice. Long wait for drinks but food came out very quickly. Nice spot.
H.
Had great night at the landing. Food was good as well as the service, probably better during the day with the view, but if around would definitely recommend a visit.
J.
The Best! We were fortunate enough to get a table for 8 in The Landing Restaurant for Mother's Day. As expected it was very busy with boats coming and going. We'd heard lots of great things about the place & we weren't disappointed. Their menu & selection of gastro pub fare is at the level far above your average pub & the setting is simply amazing. Their friendly staff have a casual and down to earth approach which made us all feel very relaxed and looked after. Mum was so impressed we were rather surprised when she booked in for next year!
L.
The Landing we sat out on the deck beautiful view watching tide come in and ferry arrive food was really lovely.. but had finished our main by the time the wine that accompanied it arrived was a shame, they were busy but if you take a wine order with dinner they both should arrive at the same time

Nice food and friendly service. Lovely view from the deck, even when the rain comes in.

A beautiful venue - perfect setting. However- to serve warm salmon with a cold sauce made the meal very disappointing- and almost inedible.- especially considering the cost. The dessert too was disappointing - to say there was 'shortbread ' included- and all it was was no more than a dessertspoon of crumbs under the icey strawberries . Hmm - not sure what the chef understands as shortbread!

Good food, bit of a shame the food choice pales in comparison to the booze. That being said, the food was pretty damn good. Also was disappointing we couldn't dine outside to enjoy the view, but the smokers were allowed out there without food.
M.
Busy on a Saturday which shows its popular, good service but wow was it noisy, the sound of the customers trying to talk over each other which echoed around inside the restaurant area was kind of painful. We took our plates to the outside where it was a little more peaceful.

We went on Friday 23th August at 1830pm, pre booked before arrival!
I ordered the pesto linguini my friend the pork belly for main, 2x mojito and 1x long island ice tea. I preferred the long island by miles .. Although it should be in a longer tall glass rather than the wine like cup.. Mojito too much ice it waters down the lime & white rum i couldnt taste much of a kick. As to why i wanted a long island.
My meal was yumm & my friends pork belly was crunchy which he really enjoyed!
Would like to come back before the sun sets to enjoy the rays of the sun while dining outside or come back anytime of the day for another meal and sit next to the fireplace.. The customer service, waitress, bartender were all lovely on arrival and departure. Recommend to all sorts of personalities, or events !

Lovely meal beer battered fish & chips for lunch with the recommended sauvignon blanc, followed by ice cream & a coffee to finish. Arrived via Red Boat trip from Birkenhead, recommend to all, fabulous day, very informative skipper who gave historic commentary during the boat trip

Wonderful location on the river, very picturesque. The food it great also.

Had a lovely steak meal here with family for mothers day eye fillet was perfectly cooked
L.
Wonderful place. Certainly lived up to expectations. Interesting menu. Great setting on the river estuary. Expensive wines tho

Best fish & chips I have had in nz for a long time. Excellent venue as well. Highly recommend.
F.
Being local customers, we have consistently good service, both on ordering and serving food and beverage. Today had a wonderful food server with great communication skills.
T.
Went to the Landing for a Sunday lunch. A really nice venue, nice food, could hear the music from the Boathouse but it wasn't too loud, so could have a quiet conversation. Great service!
D.
Great food, friendly staff, lovely location.

An enjoyable and informative launch ride from downtown and return. Timed for the tides so timetables change daily. But a 2.5 hour stopover at Riverhead allowed ample time to relax have a drink or two and dine.
Very relaxed great way to spend a day with friends.
S.
Good fish and chips at the landing restaurant, friendly and efficient service and nice atmosphere with views.
R.
Lovely historic pub in beautiful grounds. Friendly staff and service but expected better food for the place. Menu is unexciting, overpriced for what you get and generally felt disappointed. If they fixed up the food this place would be top notch.
Y.
Tranquil and peaceful place, good food, attentive staff - ideal place for informal family gathering or cath up with auld friends. Would definitely recommend.

My wife and I went for dinner tonight and I felt compelled to come home and write a review ( which I have never done) about not only the food and wine which was superb but our waiter. I got his name when he delivered the specials lists. BIG thank you to AHMET our waiter ....it was just like being in Europe eating out. You really made our night.Professional Plus +++
I had the Scotch fillet and my wife and the Duck .... followed by Petit Foir desert .....beautiful.
E.
Outstanding food - way more than you’d expect from any pub - up there with the best restaurants in town. And great atmosphere.
S.
Went to Riverhead today on Riverhead Ferry. Wonderful atmosphere, fabulous food and an awesome person, Julie, who looked after us. Julie made it special for us because of her knowledge of their menu, excellent service and more particularly, her great personality and sense of humour was a breath of fresh air. All in all an awesome experience
T.
Oferring of few variations on the menu, well presented and high quality, priced at the high end for a lunch. Did feel like the wait staff had somewhere else she wanted to be, and the only down side to a pleasant lunch.
R.
Nice setting and friendly service. Food was tasty but a long wait, and one of the dishes that was listed on the menu as dairy free came out with dairy in it, despite my having told them I have a dairy allergy.
T.
If you ever want to experience The Riverhead you have to go there by boat. Either your own or a charter. Well worth the experience of one of the few water accessable restaurant/ bars in Auckland/ NZ
S.
Food was amazing and service was spot on. We were a group of 6 people and every one enjoyed their food. Atmosphere was very nice, cosy but classy.
J.
Always welcoming at The Riverhead, great service, orders come quickly, and always a table (or very little wait time) - even if the carpark is full.
J.
Staff friendly, food very expensive and very small portions. Not great
Been berfore and it was okay. Very hit and miss
Z.
Riverhead tavern is a great place to go for a drink or to also have dinner. They have a great options of spirits and a good food menu. The bartenders are friendly and they also have two pool tables.
T.
Great location and excellent bar food. Efficient and friendly staff. Lovely place to sit and enjoy the view of the river eat nice food and relax
J.
Place is Alright here. The crab linguine was very salty and the ribs were tough. The fish of the day was good as well as the desserts but is expensive.
C.
The boathouse was rocking! Thanks to all the staff for making us feel so welcome. Best food and service out west. Special thanks to Duty Manager Sarah Jane you made our visit!!
d.
Lovely setting looking down the river. The waitress let us have more tastes of wine tell we found the right one. Three PM the restaurant terrace in the shade
C.
Relaxing, nice view, the food was delicious and the staff were very helpful. We had a very pleasant early dinner. ❤❤❤❤❤
F.
Everything about the riverhead is of a very high quality. The only draw back for me personally is the price of drinks in the public bar. The price of food for the quality is good, but $12 for a draught beer is definitely at the top end
c.
I stop in there quite a bit in the weekends over summer on my bike as a lot of other bikers do.Great ride, top location and atmosphere and nice staff.......but.......i'm sorry to say the quality of the food has dropped significantly over the last year or so.
I had the fish and chips today....$26....chips were big and chunky all good ......salad ok...the fish.......well i left 90% of it on the plate.........
To be fair the young staff member guy sitting at the next table on his break did offer to get me another one after i suggested this wasn't his chefs best effort
I have just looked at the other 22 google reviews and it seems i am not alone in my thoughts.
I doubt i will be eating there again..........well maybe if someone else is buying
A.
So delish waiters were helpful and always on hand awesome service definitely go again 👍
S.
Such a fun place to go! A little pricey, but anywhere you go out to these days is expensive. A good treat to come here for a nice meal, beer, and a great view.
R.
Love this place. Super busy on Sundays but look for unreserved tables on the back deck of the pub if the restaurant is booked out. Had great live music the Sunday I was there.
M.
Love the place but disappointed on Sunday with my Pizza. Ok, it's just a pizza but $19 for a small pizza which was sparce on cheese and most of what there was was on the plate. Ok they were busy but I certainly expect a little more care to be taken for that price. Grest venue though.
j.
Very nice, good food Gentelman's service So enjoy
C.
Very nice setting , the food was o.k. but not great. I had chicken breast on roasted veg. The veg was just pumpkin and kumera too much veg not so much chicken.
J.
Amazing venue, amazing staff, amazing food, amazing everything! My partner and I were married at the Boathouse in March. From the day Debs came on board, we were made to feel that we were her only couple – Debs genuinely cares about ensuring that your day is perfect and is there to help you plan all the little details. Bronnie is an absolute wonder woman – our day ran so smoothly and perfectly because of her knowledge, guidance and efficiency. An absolute dream team supported by amazing staff. We had the best day of our lives and are so grateful to have had such a perfect wedding venue! Thank you!!
L.
Lovely spot. Nice views. .good bar food and has restaurant for special occasions. Parking good. Can access by ferry from city or private boat.
A.
One of our all time favorite restaurant. Excellent good, good price and amazing location. Also staff are pretty good making your dining experience here very memorable :)
G.
Amazing location, views and food. Friendly staff but be aware it can get really busy with long waits and there is different food service between the outside area, pub and restaurant.
V.
Fabulous location, surprised to rediscover this local treasure. We had excellent, friendly service, great tasting and looking food and good coffees. A good selection of places to sit, either out on the decks on good days, or warm inside in the winter.
C.
Great food not cheap but very well prepared fantastic
S.
We came for lunch for my birthday on Sunday, the whole experience was fabulous.Very good staff, pleasant and curtious, food was Devine, atmosphere fantastic and the setting in lovely.Highly recommend .We are so glad we booked here and the menu had a great selection for all. Thanks so much!
K.
Steak portion was very small and was underdone, otherwise great setting and rest of the meals were good.
D.
Way louder than expected...probably better for a group outing rather than dinner for 2. Having said that, food was really quite nice with only an occasional misstep. Would come back again for the food...just need to bring a half dozen more people.
R.
Was Bayes Coachlines Ltd. charter bus driver for the evening and did not partake in dining or entertainment activities but can comment that the staff were friendly, polite and professional.
J.
Such a great location plus the food is amazing. The sort of place you arrive at in the afternoon, and never want to leave :)
F.
Just went to check out the wedding venue with a client (I am a photographer), it is not only gorgeous, but also the most organised place I have ever been to. The wedding co-ordinator was on top of even the minutest detail and so friendly and personable! A brides dream! 😀 I am really looking forward to photographing the event!
C.
Historic and comfortable, great mix of beers and spirits, location can't be beat after a drive. Great service and outdoor seating.
r.
Food took forever to arrive. One of our group injured ankle and staff bought out a sling. Cosy little place and nice beer. Management need to sort out the little blonde pitbull too.
