Perfect every time! Can’t go wrong with a raw fish 😋 Was disappointed to see prices had gone up but I also understand that the cost of everything is going up at the moment so you have to compensate. Despite that, the food and awesome service makes it well worth the extra few dollars!

Warm although can be a bit noisy. The meals will fill you up and the drinks aren't too expensive. The seafood platter was not worth the price. The staff were friendly but you must order everything yourself at the bar. The decorations were interesting and there is some historical information to read around the place too. The one pool table is completely free to use. Overall good experience.

Bloody awesome. Sea food plater pretty good. Needs a little adjustment. No need for dressing on salad or salt on prawns Went again 16th April with a group of 12 everyone thinks that the place is awesome. Food was the best. Service was great. What a hidden gem! second time we come here over the last two years. I still remember these were the best burgers I ever had in my life. Tonight we went for the mixed platter. OMG those prawn twisters and spring rolls! Out of this world. You can taste the home-made-ness. The garlic bread made with authentic ciabatta (when you're italian it does make a difference). The outdoor setting area is dreamy, the staff friendly and attentive. Congratulations to the chef of the house. Ruakaka doesn't have a lot of places for tourists to hang around and this is the perfect hideaway with beautiful food you know it won't disappoint. They have happy hour, quiz night, Etc. Don't forget to stop by on your way to Whangarei. Big thanks from an Auckland couple.

We were given a gift certificate for the Porthouse. We had a nice meal, it is a Pub to you go up to the bar to order. The server delivers your food to the table. Nice and clean. Staff friendly and 2 pizzas for $40 on Thursdays. It had steady business for both take out and seated orders.

Ordered and paid for at the bar. They collected our plates with a smile but didn't ask once if everything was ok. I was very disappointed with my meal. I had the Nachos without cheese. The meal was tasteless and was missing cheese. Hamburgers were big and the Fish and Chips were average. I felt that the Chef was not a experienced Chef.. Not the best Eatery.

The Porthouse hosted our wedding reception. Everything ran flawlessly and staff were on hand to help with any hiccups, the food was delicious and everyone was well fed. I loved that the function room is so beautiful and rustic with its wooden tables and festoon lighting. We were able to come in and personalize it a little bit ourselves. I would definitely recommend this place for a medium size function ❤

This restaurant is a hidden gem near to SH1. The locals know it well & the food is outstanding, especially the fish & chips & seafood chowder. Full range of drinks & an amazing garden bar. Well worth a visit.
