Reviews of Mussel Inn
A.
After hearing great things I was slightly disappointed. The location is fantastic although it might not be so in winter. Plenty of outdoor seating.
The mussels were as expected, but I thought a little bland. I have to admit mussels aren't really my thing unless they are marinated. The fish was alright, if a little overdone and ot fresh that day. Drinks were great, their home made feijoa cider was nice and refreshing and the Captain Cook Manuka beer was lovely.
BTW, longdrops for toilets at a restaurant is not an enticement in my book!
R.
Proves to be a very popular eatery. Considering the place is further remote north of Takaka.
Food was good. The chowder could've been hotter though. It was somewhat warm when served to us.
The steamed mussels were perfect.
A.
Nice vibe, but the service is too slow (it took us 50 minutes to get our dishes and, I came after as I hunting for a spot to seat in a table and, just for adding another dish to our order, they really believed I was going to queue again... gosh, I do not want to make another order, I want to add something to an existing one...) and, honestly, the food is not up to the expectations (we really thought better about the mussels, which are not bad, they are good, but in Chirstchurch I can find mussels from Havelock $5/kg and they are much better... also, anything else but mussels was not that good)
P.
Great place, mussels so tasty you need more than one bowl. Friendly staff.
👍👍👍
A.
Unfortunately I only had time to stop in for a quick coffee this time around. I truly believe it would be awesome to sit outside in the courtyard, sampling the locally brewed beer, whilst being mesmerized by flames in the firepit.
D.
Great, locally brewed beer. Tasty, real food. Quirky but wonderful decor.
M.
Love the Mussel Inn, lots of space to eat n drink. The orange roughly cider is so yummy and the range of beers are extensive. My husband always orders the mussels, steamed with lemon. I enjoy their beef pie. A cool tyre swing for the kids to play in.
r.
Friendly staff, rustic charm and character of the place makes you feel comfortable. The food was delicious and good portion sizes. Two of our group shared the small size garlic mussels which was ample and divine. Our mains equally tasty. My son loved the mushroom sauce and his steak. No room left for dessert though.Good range of local beers and other refreshments. We definitely recommend eating here.
A.
Great venue. Afternoon snack meals. Mussel chowder Devine for me, great seafood taste, wife Didn't go for the taste. She had the nachos, lots of corn chips, beans dry and a bit unappealing. Craft beers are great. Will go back for the after 5pm menu for another look.
M.
Nice little spot to head out for lunch after visiting Takaka.
They unfortunately had no mussels when we arrived, but of course they only source fresh.
Had the seafood chowder and it didn't wow us, quite thin and not a super strong flavor.
Local Beer was quite nice and very different than most.
Loved their outside seating area underneath the hops growing on a trellace
P.
Excellent mussels, quiche was huge and so filling and chowder with bread was also delicious. Gorgeous setting amongst the trees. Log fire inside keeping things cozy.
L.
Wonderful colourful place, even if you don't stop to eat you should just go to see the decor and environment.
Their beers are great as is the food.
A.
The signature food “Seafood chowder” is worth trying to taste!
The outside seatings are wonderful.
The popular place for local people as well as tourists.
T.
Amazing food and environment , love it 😘😘
K.
Best mussels in golden bay! And really good price too. Beers were really good and brewed by the mussel inn! Lovely patio on a sunny day (was cloudy for me). Worth a stop on the way back from cape farewell to enjoy some delicious food and beer!
S.
Incredible food! Loved the atmosphere also and the home brewed beer/cider! Veggie Lasagne was top notch and the fried fish. Nachoes were huge with lots of chips and needed some more filling but are probably more for sharing than a main meal. Steak also needed a steak knife provided. Other wise experience overall was 👌🏻. Staff were lovely and super knowledge about their menu and brews.
G.
Slightly overdone Falafel tonight. We got our money back, but not the experience we where looking for.
C.
Loved this place. Went twice. Took the mussels and the lamb pie, excellent. The apple cider on tap is also excellent!! Great place, would go regularly if I lived here!!
C.
Interesting beers on tap. My husband enjoyed the chili beer. The mussels were good. It was my first time trying them! There was a cozy fire going. The place has a good atmosphere.
D.
The famous Mussel Inn! Really cozy, unique, large indoor and outdoor space, firepit and swings outside. Great local beer. Large proportions of food on strangely small plates. Plays host to interesting bands. Quiz nights on Thursday. I hear that New Years is a fun time 💃🕺! Food is perhaps a little overpriced but it fills you up. Must stop by on your way through!
P.
Beautiful pub with a delicious menu and a brewery! Our dinner (Green Mussels and Salmon with potatoes) was excellent, and I enjoyed the "Captain Cooker" Manuka Beer.
J.
All the food was rubbish. Only could get mussels In a tomatoe based chowder with a handful of tiny pieces. It was relly an onion chowder. The pizza was uneatable and nachos were really just a pile of stale chips and topping had no flavor. All would of been frozen is our guess. Nobody asked how the food was. 2 stars cause the beer was good. Maybe covid hurt their mussel offering. Fingers crossed for better after the boarders open.
B.
Absolute must do, good beer, great value all day meals and a setting like no other - so worth the day trip from Nelson also.
J.
Beautiful food, their own brewed beer and cider yummy. cozy fire burning during wet weather, love the composting toilets, visited twice..
A.
Good meals, interesting local beers, live music sometimes. It is a must stop if you are in Golden Bay. The prices are reasonable.
S.
Great experience, as always. Food & beer is very good quality. Just missed any live music being on.
S.
Reminds me of the Santa Cruz mountains back in the 60's and 70's. I swear a couple of Saturday nights ago, a spaceship beamed down a couple of hundred Bohemian hippies. I was having a flashback. Good vibes, food, beer, and staff. Definitely worth the journey if visiting NZ.
L.
A true “must” while in Golden Bay!
My partner and I shared a 1/2 order of steamed mussels served with awesome sourdough ciabatta garlic bread and the rib eye steak with baked potato and a fantastic well-dressed salad: olive, beetroot, sunflower seeds plus all the usual fixings.
Also lots of libations and desserts to complete your meal. Hope to make it back to this area so we can stop in again.
Thanks for the sweet as meal Mussel Inn 🙌
H.
Delicious mussels! On site crafted beer is a treat. Garlic bread was a nice accompaniment, lamb pie was good too. Kids did not like the pizza and the nachos were very heavy on the tomato paste. Stick to the mussels!
(Sorry we didn’t get to try the dinner dishes)
S.
Had the Mexican bean pie and falafel sandwich along with their homemade Ginger beer and lemonade. Great way to start your day. We squeezed in a carrot cake as well which is highly recommended.
H.
We love the Mussel Inn. Great place to relax and have a yarn with ya mates while sampling the latest or opting for your favourite brew and enjoying a tasty meal.
M.
A warm and welcoming place to visit that is cosy, and offers tasty morsels for the weary traveller. We had the mussel chowder with garlic bread and the open fish sandwich that was delicious! Would definitely come again.
J.
We just had coffee there but really should have tried the amazing looking menu and hops bar
M.
This is a pretty cool little cafe bar. The food was really tasty and the out door seating area is nice and shady. Very Kiwi style set up. Worth a visit.
S.
Really cool vibe and place. But didn't really enjoy the food. Still a great place to visit.
G.
Great beer brewed on site, excellent food, eco friendly setup with beautiful courtyard and verandah. Staff were lovely and didn't mind at all that we arrived during the afternoon rush and stayed on till dinner.
J.
Great food and great ambiance... keep following those covid rules and keep it real
F.
Beautiful volace, great food and live music!
T.
Beautiful setting for beautiful mussels 👍 Many home-brew drinks and cakes too!
M.
Totally chill place to relax. The Apple Roughy was yum. And I enjoyed the Captain Cooker (Manuka honey leaf)
R.
Always a great destination pub. Great beers, great food and a venue with character. Recommend the chili beer and the vegetarian lasagne.
P.
Great food, relaxed welcoming space, awesome feel
W.
Wow what a cool place! Had a great time here, great beer, great food, great service, awesome atmosphere, cant wait to come back
A.
Really enjoyed this place. Excellent beer (among best in NZ I've tried so far). Mussels weren't particularly impressive, but not bad at all. Fish and salad was a delight. Beware the place is rather small and may have to wait for a table inside (even out of holiday season!). Perhaps in warm summer nights is nice to stay outside.
D.
Great spot for some muscles and a beer. Beer is brewed on site, chilli beer highly recommended.
J.
Wicked vibe, delicious food, cool staff and fairly priced. Best place to eat in the Tasman
C.
Awesome place great, food, music, staff highly recommend
S.
Only 3 mains to choose from. But 8 different kinds of beer.
C.
My partner and I went and had light lunch, a fish sandwich and I a mussel chowder with garlic bread: we really enjoyed both, we thought it was generous portions and delicious with great presentation: for example the humble"garlic bread" was a nice piece of ciabatta bread with garlic but also some mustard seeds, it was the best garlic bread. And there is always a great atmosphere, with excellent beers, really enjoyed the mead too!
J.
Bloody top quality place, cosy, indoor fire, outdoor seating, great beer
L.
Great place to stop in golden bay and their in-house beers and ciders are yumm
M.
Unique and quirky inn with it's own brewery. Great food, live music some evenings
F.
Quite unique chunky wooden decor with open fire and they also brew their own beer. Tried two, both tasted nice. Bit disappointed with the mussel chowder though. It was nothing like a normal seafood chowder, more of a tomato soup with a lot of shredded carrot and some whole mussels added.
W.
What a great little place. Very good food crafted in an alternative style. And the shop made craft beer was fantastic. Don't drive by without stopping in.
J.
A busy pub with great character. Good selection of beers and organic soft drinks. An eco feel to the place. The staff are very friendly. The food was fantastic. We all had fish served with a salad and potato salad as they have no chips(which is great). The bar was bustling with a Great atmosphere.
j.
Awesome place. Good prices. Cool live band for new years :)
We were standing in line by 5pm though for door sale tickets and had to stay after purchasing the ticket. So make sure you are ready for the night and bring a warm jacket. Long pants recommend as the sandflies bite you regardless of sandfly spray.
No fireworks but
All in all a good new years eve experience :)
D.
Good food, great beer in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful.
R.
This is destination food, as in, I'd fly here from almost anywhere to get their mussels! We had the steamed mussels and the mussel chowder. Both were amazing.
And now, let's talk about their beer. Wow! The tasting paddle with five beers is a great way to start.
We topped the evening of with delicious pavlova. This is a truly great restaurant!
J.
The place has a nice vibe and they brew their own drinks. Food is simple but effective. Shame they don't do chips as you would expect from pub grub. I don't usually enjoy a pint of ale and a pie with a salad.
D.
Excellent beers and ciders. Lively place with a great atmosphere when there's live music on, very relaxed and chilled at other times. Food didn't quite live up to its reputation though - nachos disappointing, beef & beer pie bland (no chips available, just salad), mussel chowder was OK. We should have stuck to the mussels!
R.
Great food, great beer, friendly people and atmosphere
P.
Very cosy place with vibrant atmosphere and charming people! We went there for lunch during a road trip: food was excellent (we tried 7 different dishes) and the beers refreshing! We just imagined how it would be by night with a band playing and we were almost jealous... :)
In short, that is a stop that one should make when driving this part of NZ!
M.
Very cosy atmosphere at this place. Got the steak and salmon and they were decent servings with a great side salad with a beautiful dressing. Very friendly and accommodating staff as well. The food came out fast despite them being busy with a birthday party going on. They also have their own selection of beers and the lager I tried was great.
V.
Quirky location. Yum food . Delicious home brews.
P.
Very nice restaurant and bar with good food and a quite a lot variants of beer and ale.
The atmosphere is very good due to live music in the summer and the fireplace in the winter.
The staffs are all nice and very chilled.
Would defiantly go there again.
The nachos looked very nice - the lasagne was very good and the steak was also very good according to friends :)
A.
delicious food and beers, I ordered the mussels and garlic bread for a starter, and the pan fried fish to share both with my partner, upon asking we were told that the food would be sufficient for both of us, however we felt like we did need slightly more food by the end of it. aside from that a lovely environment, especially cosy if by the fire.
l.
We stumbled upon Mussel Inn on our way back to Pakawau from Takaka after taking in a Horse Trek at Hack Farm.
We were so pleased we did.
Our table had the garlic bread, mussels, nachos, kids sausages and cheesy corn chips.
All were perfect and great portion sizes.
We loved the local beer and ciders and just the overall atmosphere of the place.
Worth a stop for sure.
J.
A good place to go for dinner. Good beer and nicely steamed mussels. the pie is good too. Ragu is flavored with a bit of spiciness.
S.
Not sure why this place had received such great reviews. It's alright. Bit run down and not particularly outstanding. With the food, mussle chowder had a tomato base and wasn't particularly good at all, quiche was good though and beers were decent. Probably would go again but wouldn't drive out of the way for it.
S.
It's an icon, very pleased to finally make it to Golden Bay and try it for myself. A bowl of steamed mussels, some mussel chowder and a good dark ale, all brilliant
P.
This is possibly the coolest pub in NZ. We love it. We had dinner here before seeing dome live music last time we were here. Food was stunningly good. The Mussel Inn beers are hard to beat too. Top that off with some live blues played in the small room and you have a brilliant night. Plenty of space outside too if you like. There's cv a few quirky things to come see too. Keeps you smiling.
J.
Food was pretty average but cider made up for it ;)
A.
Great spot, good food and quality beer brewed on site. Plenty of car parking and shade on the outside area. Bands on Wednesday evenings and Saturday over summer. Well worth your consideration
S.
Lovely atmosphere and great beers. Mussel chowder yummy but not a chowder. It was mussel and vege soup. Nachos are awesome and a huge portion. Composting toilet a great idea but on a hot day, you have to be keen to use it! We still love this place though.
T.
Awesome place. I've been plenty of times during January holidays. They brew their own range of beers. If you can't decide which one to order then get the tasting platter. Try the Captain Cooker at least once. Food mostly excellent (although personally I think the nachos are overrated). I'm happy to go along with their no fries policy. Usually busy in summer, but plenty of covered outside seating.
J.
Food was great! Beer was great! Atmosphere and location superb! Service is too notch as well. Can’t say enough about this place other than get there early if you want their mussels! See you again soon!
D.
Great atmosphere, awesome staff. The food is good too and really reasonably priced. Live music often and of a very high standard. Been bringing my family here for years and never disappointed. Excellent craft beers too!!!
W.
Food was ok but on the more expensive side for what it was. Came quickly even though they were busy. Good self brewed beer and soft drinks
L.
A very cool restaurant and bar just off the main road, but it feels completely distanced from anywhere else. There's seating far away in the bush, or right in the bar itself. It's extremely lively during the summer with live music and events, and the food is delicious. Plenty of tourists too, so ensure you arrive early if it's going to be busy.
p.
Local cooked fish. Good beer friendly staff
K.
Driving past and saw the name and being a seafood lover just had to stop and check it out. Lovely place with friendly staff, live music and great food. Had a beautiful mussell dish with garlic bread that wasn't a chowder and not really a soup as such! It was sooo good! I hope they never change the recipe . Just keep making it exactly the same! A great outdoor dining area as well.
P.
Very yummy food and nice place.
G.
Nice mussel lunch and a pint of nice ale.
N.
Really good fish fillet, fun board games!
S.
Delicious food, great ambience, and scrummy tap beer
T.
Very cool place, good food and drink 🍺 highly recommended!
J.
Best place in the area to wind down after visiting all day.
S.
Great food lovely people highly recommended
M.
Just a nice place to be if you're out that way. Warm and cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, good hearty food and some good beer and wine. Not much more you can ask for honestly :)
M.
Great little place...oozing with charm...and great beer
G.
If you like your pies with crispy pastry and full of filling then don't have one here. Mine and the ones I saw around me were quite the opposite and disappointing. The mussels are big, but they do nothing with them apart from steam them.
I can see it would be a fun pub, but it would seem the food is not the priority for them.
M.
Great mussels
Good beer
Good staff
Good music
D.
Great service, beautiful location, amazing food 👌 💕 lots of sheltered areas which accommodates for the weather. Even handed out blankets for the colder evening. Lovely
P.
Good place to grab some interesting beers and cider. The food looked good, though we didn't eat here. Only down a star for a $40 cover for their music last night. We might have stayed for dinner otherwise.
j.
Awesome entertainment, atmosphere and food. We loved meeting old friends, making new ones at communal tables and relaxing with great music. We stated at Patons Rock 18-24 April 2019 and visited this great cafe, microbrewery, multiple occasions for multiple reasons/events. Awesome staff and atmosphere.
D.
Awesome brewery and classic kiwi pub. My sisters favourite restaurant in the top of the south. They have amazing live shows, international bands wait years to get a slot here. This is not a joke! Go to the Mussel Inn!
J.
Food was amazing. Really fresh and tasty. Went so well with the captain cooker! Loved it. The staff were great too.
K.
Lovely meal and drinks! First class service and beautiful place
L.
Awesome food and atmosphere. Several gluten free options on the menu too. Really enjoyed our visit here.
M.
Nice spot good craft beer
A.
Quaint, charming, warm little place way out toward Onekaka. Worth the drive over the hill and through the country to indulge in that unparalleled Hot Dog Fish chili cider along with a beef & beer pie - YUM! Bring a deck of cards and just sit back for a while. Lovely spot to wrap up a day full of Golden Bay sightseeing.
T.
Interesting alternative pub between Takaka and Collingwood in Golden Bay.
Beautiful surroundings and some excellent locally brewed beers on tap.
Regular local live music.
An easy to get too stopover from anywhere in Golden Bay.
j.
It's an institution and deservedly so! Lovely food, craft beer and extensive outdoor area including a firepit. Music some nights. Do not miss!!!
P.
Looks like a really good night venue but we visited during the day. Good menu, service O.K. but ambience didn't meet expectation.
D.
Interesting place to check out. Had the chilli beer which was interesting then became pretty overpowering so couldn't finish it. Other good beers on tap to try but need some decent IPAs. Have events and music regularly as well.
D.
Brilliant beers and superb food at modest prices. Recommend the fish and salad. My mate recommends the mussels. Food served promptly and the salad was very fresh indeed. Highly recommended.
S.
Good, simple, well-priced food in unique and rustic surroundings, the open fire was wonderful on a chilly day
S.
Quirky fun place. Must do if you are in Golden bay. The menu is short but very good and reasonably priced. If you don't like seafood they are other options. Their beer is excellent.
G.
Always an enjoyable meal at this venue especially the mussels, good choice of local craft beer too
s.
Wow wasn't expecting that. Great place. A must to drop in if your in the area.
D.
Awesome place. We saw Medicine Woman Band there last night that was amazing. They brew incredible beer and ciders. Go for a unique visit. Don't miss it
S.
Great atmosphere, excellent craft beer!popular place! Worth stopping in ....Would be an excellent party palace in the Evenings. Day time menu is fairly basic... the nachoes ... they were great.
P.
Disappointed there were no mussels available at Mussel Inn! Seafood chowder was 2nd choice but more like a tomato veg soup with tiny bits mussel and not that great. Garlic bread tasted as if they used processed minced garlic. Drinks were good.
K.
A nice place for lunch...good beer too. One improvement..a table allocation number or something similar so the waiting staff know where to take food.
A.
Great beer, great vibes, and hearty food. New extended carpark means there's room for everyone!
Especially love the board games 👌🏼
S.
Great experience. Mussels were perfect, beer was delicious and the outdoor setting was super relaxing.
W.
Stopped for ale after golf .
K.
Beer great, play swing fun for all ages but food lacking on this visit. Be great to be able to take beers away.
A.
Great place for a beer or two
A.
Stopped in for lunch. And tried the Beef and Black Beer Pie and of course a Black Beer to wash it down. Would be awesome on a hot Summer day.
A.
An amazing place. The staff is very nice, the food is great (Ive tried the mussel chowder) and they have a large choice of beers including very good homemade beers (I recommend the dark one).
K.
Nice atmosphere and lovely drinks and food. Vegetarian options too. There is now a car park. Wooden outdoor furniture looks cool.
J.
Lovely place with atmosphere. Had the Mussel chowder with garlic bread which was really good. The beer is excellent!
L.
A vibrant hostellery, busy especially when there is live entertainment. Not a lot of room but be prepared to share a table and chat to others. Good food and try the local cider (although to be fair NZ cider doesn't match up to the established English ciders like Aspalls and Thatcher's)
A.
Most enjoyable atmosphere warm and welcoming staff with affordable prices. We were served fast and by a friendly staff member.
D.
Really delicious pub food. The beers are all crafted there and were all really good. And the whole atmosphere was very chill and suitable for a wide range of people
A.
Beautiful and quirky, large outdoor area under the trees. Good food. Staff was really helpful when we arrived late in the evening and didn't know where to camp for the night, very thankful for that!
C.
Amazing soft drinks brewed on site and the most incredible food! Would recommend.
B.
Quentin was a fantastic server who answered some tricky questions. Neat atmosphere.
P.
This place was recommended highly by a local in Collingwood. Ambience was wonderful, service was quick and efficient and the food was delicious. They accomodate allergies. My meal was gluten and dairy free.
J.
With a range of their famous beers on tap, and the rest available by the bottle, and the eclectic (and tasty) menu providing the eats, Mussel Inn is a must do if you're in Golden Bay.
Bring insect repellant if you're going there at dusk.
M.
Cool place! Great ciders and beers. Food ok - would rather choose a different place if you are really hungry
T.
Great food (big portions), a lively atmosphere and plenty of seating. Quirky decorations and friendly staff made this an enjoyable place to visit.
C.
Great place to visit when coming back from Farewell Spit. We had the Manuka beer which was made on the premises and it was amazing.
J.
Awesome place! Came here after a long day driving and sat by the campfire listening to awesome live music. Couldn't enjoy the local beers as I was driving, but my girlfriend told me that I was missing out!
G.
Amazing beer and food
J.
There's a tree outside where you can leave your mobile phone behind forever!!!! It made the "Lonely Planet" for a good reason, great beers made on site, fire pits outside, good food, a fantastic little nook to hang out at xx love love
E.
Great setting and good beer (although one was a bit soapy - perhaps the tap needed a better rinse). We ordered snack food from the menu, which was only average.
J.
My favourite place to visit when in the area. Awesome spot for a drink and some food, they also often have comedy gigs so keep and eye out for these. Best drink is the fejioa cider!
M.
Quirky as; great mussel chowder; excellent craft beer range; however how can The Mussel Inn run out of fresh mussels over Xmas/ New Year (saying on a notice board that the mussel workers are on holiday!!) Supermarkets sell fresh mussels every day they are open!! Come on Mussel Inn; kick arse!!
k.
Amazing. Incredible beer brewed here. Delicious food - none deep fried. Great swing for the kids
C.
The food was delicious. Beers good. They give four or five med. Glasses to drink if you want. Lovely open fire friendly staff.
B.
Very cool place. Nice beer...try the Chilli-Beer. Hot!!!
Also good food. Only strugelling to get the steak to medium. Lots events going on during week. Check the website.
G.
Great place for live music and fresh beer! Wonderful timely building and nice garden area. Expect to wait for your beer when an event is on!
S.
Great beer, great atmoshphere, great venue! You might be waiting a while to be served at times but its all part of the experience. I love it at the Muss!
A.
The delightful, award winning selection of home brewed beers are a great accompaniment to the highly esteemed mussel chowder. All on offer, is made with passion from the crew of gorgeous ladies.....Would return in a heartbeat.
S.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Very laid back and a great place to just hang round and chat. Big open fire place in the winter. Nice food!
F.
Beautiful place. Delicious mussels chowder, quiche and Mexican vegan pie. Beer was good.
C.
Had Mussel chowder. Fine for flavour but just like most kiwis I guess, lacking in quantity. It had about 6 bits of mussel in it.
L.
Excellent food and drinks, and what to say about dessert!!
Nice environment, and quizzes night!
F.
Rainy day today, the Muss has the fire going (more for ambience than warmth!) it's cosy and inviting, lovely smells coming from the kitchen, every one is smiling. Just perfect!
A.
Good vibe. Interesting decor, good honest food and friendly staff. Great beer.
p.
Very nice place to stop for lunch. Good for the kids
K.
Quick lunch, Felt exactly as you would hope. Very local vibe. Good food and local beers.
M.
Maybe it’s me, but every time I visit the Muss, I end up tripping.
It’s probably just me, I don’t think trips are on the menu, but it’s definitely one of those places where the night becomes dramatically pleasant and remarkably interesting.
G.
The beers were great and of course we had to eat some mussels whilst here which were also great. Loved the vibe of the garden!!
D.
The fish is excellent. Always has good live music on. The staff let you sleep in the carpark if you ask nicely
C.
Friendly staff, clean and tidy, pretty good food but just a bit expensive for what you get...
P.
Pleasant atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff food was delicious
C.
We had great expectations about this place as people had recommended it, though it was ok food and just a reasonable pub to be honest. Had far better grub in the food down high street in Tarkaka.
S.
Awesome cider and beer. Food delivered quickly. Perfect place to stop after exploring farewell spit and wharariki beach.
M.
Very nice place for dinner, we had mussels chowder and the quiche with salad, a home made ginger beer and captain cooks. Friendly staff and some locals.
J.
Always delicious food and great atmosphere. We really enjoyed our dinner there. Great vegetarian options.
E.
Such a special place, wonderful drinks, good honest food and super lovely staff! A true golden bay treasure!
C.
Excellent inn. Fantastic beer selection and great little food menu. Nice outdoor seating area too.
B.
Quirky with nice food and excellent craft ale. Dark ale was exceptional.
I.
Loved the ambience, the mussel chowder and the craft beer. A definite drop in place.
A.
The happiest place to be for new year celebration. Salmon and steak was superb. Expect long queues and waits. Very lovely staff.
P.
Great food and great atmosphere. Well known to the locals and for good reason..... great beer! (And food).
