Staff were lovely. The room was good for the price we paid. Quite standard, good for 1 nights stay. Me and my partner had the buffet breakfast was basic but very yummy. Eggs were my favorite. Great for $20

I wish to thank Cathy on reception, Journey and Christopher for their excellent service on the bar and in the dining room, also thank you Tai for your customer service and taking the time to make us feel valued as guests of Lakeland Resort. The room was pleasant with a comfortable double bed, a single bed, fresh clean white linen with comfy pillows, in the bathroom fresh white towels and flannels with complimentary vanity products. The $20 breakfast is great value and considering the competitive room rates and customer services, I want to overlook the few imperfections in the room and around the premises and yet by employing a Housekeeping Supervisor and a Property Manager would go greatly towards making Lakeland Resort come back to life and receive a five star review. I give 2 stars for property maintenance, 3 stars for the room and 4 stars for customer services. In my view first impressions are very important, the overhead glazing above reception forecourt is overgrown with moss and mould, the reception sign above the main entrance is thick with cobwebs. Nearby the reception desk is a distracting larger than life fibreglass statue of a Bakery Chef that is outdated and so out of place, a decent potted palm would be a huge improvement. Our room was ground level and only one of a few that had a newly painted white ceiling. There should be a door on the cups and glasses cupboard, bathroom towels rack nearly falling off (needs screws tighten) so towels were placed on the window sill, the glass shower door had dried soap scum and black mould forming on the ceiling and tile grouting. Squeeking bathroom door hinges (this should be regular room maintenance). The only outdoor seating near the accommodation is one bbq table at the top left of the carpark and two at the rear (near the spa building) they are dangerously rickety and in need of replacing or bracing (the broken table bracing is on the ground at the the rear wall opposite a pvc downpipe with a hole that had dried leaf mould scum running down to the ground. The spa facilities were closed but by the overall neglected look suggests it would be unwise to use anyway. These few maintenance observations will not take much money or time to rectify, so why doesn't the Resort Management raise the standards and prioritise such issues and get some pride in maintaining facilities that paying guests are entitled. I will be asking to see the kitchen beforehand, if I check in again, and will there be any improvement. PS. The unit on the wall by the entrance to the room is a heater, not air conditioning, I don't know if the upstairs units have a/c. The a/c was going in the dining / bar area with nobody except a couple of staff members present, however was turned OFF when our group of 60 plus were present for the evening buffet, for what, the minimal savings compared to the temperature discomfort detracted from what could have been a successfull experience overall and 100% reviews.

I would like to leave a fair review here, I had a good sleep and the place was sparkling clean! but the whole place needs a good update. From tvs, to bedding to new towels. Some staff members were nicer and more welcoming than others as any place would be like that.. I feel like 2 stars is too low as I did have a good sleep, the location and facilities available here are great! Bar, restaurant, hot tub etc

Rooms are a bit dated but very clean and tidy. Comfortable beds and plenty off street secure parking. Had a nice meal in the restaurant. Only thing missing was plates and cutlery in room , we bought cheese and crackers to have with an evening wine but unable to have as didn't have a plate or knife to use.

Booked through booking.com and got a good price. Arrived late at night and after a quick call they sorted the late arrival out for us no issues, heater was on when we arrived. We just needed somewhere to sleep for the night so it met my expectations. Wouldn't choose it as a romantic getaway spot but good. Location perfect for all activities near the lake and town. I read a few reviews decor is outdated but it didn't bother me because like I said we just needed somewhere to sleep for the night. Downside was the room didn't have dish washing liquid or brush to clean the cups so we used our own cups to make drinks. Might want to add this to the room/s. Good for anyone that doesn't plan on spending all day in their room.

It's cheap. And basically clean. If you don't have young kids you pretty much don't want this place. The units have great sound proof walls, but to combat this the young families seem to want to stand around outside with their young kids and make as much noise as possible. At 6:00am. Cheap and cheerful. If this is what you're after, great. Not really what I'm looking for personally. All I want is a good night's sleep... Possibly if you can avoid a ground floor it may be ok.

Was ok. Bed comfortable had a good sleep. Mould in showers. Flakey paint in bathroom window from moisture. Not the easiest access to get gear from car to the room. Expensive for what it was... Wouldve normally expected a microwave. Only a kettle provided. But that's taupo for ya! Won't return. Nothing positively memorable about it. Mediocre experience.

It was ok. Room didnt seem that clean . Drink stains on side tables. Smelt a bit stale. Good room rate for walk in. Staff nice. Breakfast buffet Nice

great looking resort. nice restaurant and bar with excellent quality of dishes. ( not open Sunday's ). On the downside our room had a very noisy heater, a broken slide lock on the entrance door, low pressure shower ( when neighbouring rooms had there shower on all we could here was there hot water cylinder filling up ). No heated towel rail / exhaust fan in bathroom. A microwave would have been nice. Staff were very friendly.

Unit was clean. Decor tired and depressing as a lot of New Zealand accommodation is now. Very little money has been spent on refurbishment since first built to keep it fresh and modern. Breakfast was nice and the scrambled eggs very nice.

We booked a room with 2 beds both came with electric blankets but one we can find no power socket to plug it in. Carpet wasn't cleaned properly and we found beer caps just beside our beds despite the cleaner came in the morning (we stayed 2 nights). Heater was very noisy, the room is outdated but the bathroom has been renovated with shower gel & shampoo included.

We had a family reunion here at Lakeland Resort Taupo, Easter 2019. They accommodated our extra diners well on Good Friday, and I personally had my meal delivered to my room. The food that was served on the Friday and Saturday Evening, which was for 32 people was absolutely fantastic. They took care of our Dairy and Gluten Allergy guests beautifully. I passed my compliments on to the Chef. However, I must say the cleanliness of the rooms that we were booked into left a lot to be desired. 1 The surfaces had not been wiped down prior to new guests arriving. ie the bedside unit had sticky stuff on it. 2 Two of the rooms had mice in them. 3 The cutlery and crockery should be replaced on a daily basis, and not just rinsed out in the bathroom basin. It should be replaced dishwasher clean or at the least have the facility to wash in hot soapy water etc. For myself and my family this is just the most basic of requirements and I would certainly expect the cleanliness of the Lakeland Resort to improve.

Had such a great time. The staff were so welcoming and full of information on arrival. There was always backup at the front desk that would come up immediately to help when the other person was busy. The rooms were warm and well kept, there was lots of bbn parking and the showers were to die for. 100% awesome with the pressure. Will definitely stay here again.

Our unit was OK for what we paid for, walls could do with a paint job as you could see where a set of drawals were under the t. v, apart from that it was good for a night.

Rooms were nice and seemed pretty clean. One of the beds sheets had blood stains (likely period blood) so definitely looks like the sheets don’t get changed with every person changing.

That old saying applies here - you get what you pay for! So, accommodation price is very reasonable but the dated condition of the units reflect the price I believe. Staff are very friendly, and I can heartily recommend the restaurant. Over all I feel that the three stars are fair. This hotel was built in the eighties I believe and while money is obviously being spent on the rooms they have a long way to go. Niggly annoyances during my stay were a very noisy wall heater, broken leg on a chair and the toilet seat was a round one fitted to an oval bowl which didn't make for a comfortable sit at all 😉 and I personally have a thing about units being about to listen to a radio and any one who feels the same need to bring their own to the lakeland. But top marks to the staff who find nothing a problem and to the chef for the quality of his meals.

Hotel close to town not within walking distance but who needs the noise. Lovely place to stay, rooms comfortable and clean and tidy. Resort offers facilities which are great. Had dinner here stayed for one night. Richard served us in the restaurant and was a great host, very accommodating and friendly. Personally I think the resort could do with an extra pair of hands in the restaurant and aircon in summer in the rooms but other than that I would definitely come back here again. Thank you our stay was awesome!! Food was great! Good views of the lake.

Comfortable. clean plenty of parking and a short walk to walking lakeside. The room was well presented and the buffet breakfast was certainly enough to ensure an adequate start to the day. Receptionist was bright and cheerful which is always a good start to a visit. Well done.

I stayed here for one night with my family. It's quite close to the lake so you don't have to walk a lot to hit the beach. The breakfast was quite good too. The rooms were spacious enough, clean and came with the amenities you'd expect.

A beautiful place to stay. Room clean and tidy well presented also. The pool was awesome especially with the hot days whilst being here. Tried the restaurant and bar tonight which was amazing and reasonably priced. Staff were lovely from the get go. They have a tennis court and spa pools too. Beautiful views at night of the lake and mountain. Recomend to all others. We done booking online and it was also very well priced.

Staff and facilities here were great. Had a 1 night stay with work and the room was clean and well kept. Unfortunately the restuarant was completely booked out for a private function. We had to drive back into town to get food and they didn't offer any sort of room service.

Clean and tidy, easy to find and close to the lake. Just over a mile into the town centre. Rooms were a bit dated and tired. Ours had an iron scorch in the floor, a big piece of wallpaper missing and the cupboard where the kettle was was steam damaged. Not that surprised because the kettle lid wouldn’t stay on when it was boiling so it continued to roll until switch off. Also it was pretty dark and no supplementary lighting so difficult to see making a brew. Beds (3 singles) were quite comfy. Only one bed side table which was annoying. Looks like the room was set up as a double (over bed lights) and turned into a triple. Distinct lack of well positioned power points. Bathroom had a nice big shower and sink. Was bright in stark contrast to the room. Looked they had been refurbished more recently. There were a few squashed flies on the wall when we first checked in. Also the shower head and soap tray had bad limescale. The staff were excellent, very friendly and efficient. The bar closed at 10 but prices were very reasonable. Food smelt nice but we didn’t partake.

Good value for the money but it's not as clean as I would've hoped

As expected it was amazing!. It was a friends Birthday, he chose a weekend in Taupo. So we booked a couple of rooms at Lakeland Resort. Our Idea was invite some extra friends to join us and we'd have a few drinks and maybe order in pitzas. When we asked if we could use the Bar-b-que the staff said "No" "But you can use the Conference Room, it's to cold to use the outdoor area".There was no extra charge on our room rate". HOW OFTEN WOULD THAT HAPPEN??

Had 2nights wkend stay. Booked as part of a team on tournament. Rooms clean, parts bit tired. Beds comfy. Shower gd. Hd to ask each day for xtra towel for 4th person on fold bed. Had tea/coffee & cups/spoon facility (for 3 only not 4) & wish we knew no crockery/cutlery nor microwave as we hd to be gone early am each a.m we bought own cereals for kids .Restaurant not open that early. Buffet arranged for team dinner Saturday night ideal. Staff approachable & friendly. Kids enjoyed it & would be great in summer with pool & tennis court.

Terrific place to stay. A bit away from the crowd's 30 to 40 min walk to the hub. A few minutes away from the lake. Restaurant was excellent as was the breakfast. Really enjoyed our stay.

The rooms are well sized and well equipped and the cleanliness is correct, but access to the ones on the first floor is somewhat difficult with luggage. The breakfast is complete (continental plus hot dishes: eggs, sausages, mushrooms, toast ...) and the staff is attentive and professional. Quick check-in and check-out. Las habitaciones están bien de tamaño y bien equipadas y la limpieza es correcta, pero el acceso a las que están en la primera planta es algo difícil con equipaje. El desayuno es completo (continental más platos calientes: huevos, salchichas, champiñones, tostadas...) y el personal es atento y profesional. Check-in y check-out rápidos.
