Quick friendly service. Good portion size. Staff checked on us twice, very attentive And, Guinness

I love coming to this place when I'm down visiting family on special occasions, like Christmas and New Years. Popular spot for casual cocktails or a few cold ones. Love Tauranga💖💖💯💯

Meals for six last night were all heartily enjoyed, good honest tasty pub grub. The service was also superb and staff happy and friendly. Best seat in the house is up by the big open window looking out across The Strand into the harbour full of boats. Live music was cool too.

Visited on 22/01/22. Enjoyed the live band here. Loved that the bar had Hendricks Gin. Also good service 😁❤

Staff very professional, friendly, warm and welcoming. Simply went over and above! Remembered our order for 4 with specifics off the top of her head. Quite impressed as you don't get that these days. So glad we came here. We will be back!

Very warm and inviting atmosphere. I ordered the Scotch Fillet, wow compliments to the chief, was one of the best steaks I've had, perfectly done.

Great service and nice food but was surprised with the price of the beer I had.

We had a wonderful dinner with my 82 year old dad. The waitress was so kind and meals just lovely.

Very enjoyable get-together with some of our whanau. Cheerful place with good food and drink (good beer selection). Maybe 4.25 stars.

On the strand and has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. Was there for lunch and there only appeared to be one person available, so the service was slow. Food was ok and the pricing was ok, the cocktail did not really taste as advertised. TV screens available inside to watch the game also.

Great table service...not to keen on what they have for starters...but I guess having covid interfering, they have to cut back on something. My beer still tasted great...especially after a game of golf 😁😁

Normally they are great but for the first time ever faced 2 issues...dusty plates and tumblers .. And overcharged me for the bigger serving while I ordered and eaten the smaller one 😏

Was very busy when we arrived in Easter Saturday while is always a good sign. I had the Pie and it was amazing. The portions size was big and I did need a little help finishing my meal but others who finished my meal also said it was great. My mum had the pasta which was fresh not packet and was the star of of dish like it is in Italy. Great selection of drinks and the Easter cocktail was one of the best I have had.

The food is surprising good for Pub food. My fillet steak was equal if not better than many top restaurants. Staff are friendly and helpful you can bring your dog and they supply a bowl of water ....Nice touch. $15 Burger and Beer on Thursday night and the smoked garlic bread is like no other I have ever eaten. I would definitely make it a regular place to dine if I lived in Tauranga. Wellington could do with a place like this. Exceptional!!!!!

Good, bit expensive. The sausages were not my cup of tea, but my partner thought it tasty, so depends of the person. Parmegiana was good!

Food and service top level for Tauranga. Great old fashion pub and location . Amzing Christmas party we had there last week. Band started at 9.30 and the place was alive with dancing . Would definitely go back . Good tapas style menu and burgers

We enjoyed our meal here. The live music was good. Service was great. Partner had a vegetarian pizza that had lots of toppings and was very good. I had ribs which were very tender and tasty (just a bit cold I thought) . Good selection of beers on tap plus all the other usual offerings for a pub. My only criticism would be that their menu is limited, especially for vegetarians, and could offer more basic food ( minus the pretentious truffle in their bangers) for a reasonable price. 2 drinks, a pizza and ribs cost $71. Not good value.

Good pub grub at reasonable prices. However they might want to update their menu names for the Prince Harry and Megan Markle burgers ;-)

A clean and tidy bar on the strand tauranga, views over the Harbour heading out towards Mt maunganui marina, lovely setting but found very expensive. Visited good Friday requiring a main meal before being able to purchase any alcohol...paid $59.00 for a beer a double bourbon and a main meal that was more a snack than a main meal. The battered fish looked like it came from a box brought from pack n save and was no more than an inch long a little disappointing considering the price we paid. Service was friendly but would not visit again with such expensive prices for very small mains..

Great Authentic Pub atmosphere, great variety of beers at the bar (and other drinks but I don't drink any of that other poncy stuff 🤣), regular live music which makes the Crown and Badger such an awesome venue, bring a date, bring your wife, bring your workmates or just drop in and have a swift half and some Bangers & Mash before heading home, the food is cracking if you're looking for some great pub grub, the staff are really friendly and helpful, plenty of seating inside and out so I really recommend a visit.

Service was great and quick you can Dine In or order to take out Food was beautiful hot And tasted really really good Facilities look clean and tidy the place looked like it could use a make over just to brighten it up but that doesn't out do that the service and food is TOP and DELICIOUS

We had the jalapeno poppers, garlic bread and a couple of soda waters which set us back ~$30. Very expensive for what you get. the jalapeno poppers (although delicious) were only half a jalapeno per popper and there were only 4. Thìs item alone costs $17!

Good Irish pub. Friendly staff. Decent beer selection. Great sidewalk tables. Good live entertainment on the night that we were there. Great location down on the Strand at the end of Wharf street.

Seriously some of the best ribs we have had! Coleslaw was delicious, and chips in the rib gravy a winner! We will be back

Stopped in with a few family members and friends. They have a few craft beers on tap as well as the normal Guinness and the staff on duty happily offered us a sample to help decide which was great. We ordered what one of the staff members said was like a meatlovers pizza but sadly there was hardly any meat so wouldn't recommend the pizza.

Nice pub, warm inside and good ambience. Ordered Bangers and mash for dinner. Found it could have done with a bit of salad to make it a balanced meal. It had three sausages, and two would have done if salad or greens had also been provided. Without the greens I felt it over priced for pub food. Other than that found the staff pleasant and enjoyed the warmth of the fireplace.

Great Friday night atmosphere. We had a good time. Decent music and there was enough room to move around without feeling too cramped even though there were a decent amount if people.

To be fair, I should imagine many people love this very hip pub. I had the most amazing lunch of salt & pepper squid melt in the mouth, not rubbery. The atmosphere was lovely, along with fabulous staff. Will be going back

We were there for jazz festival. Great place for a drink and a dance in the evening. Always a busy place.

Found a bar with the footy on TV. Not unusual. Had a drink and decided to stay for dinner. Best decision of the day. Good staff, great food, and a comfortable ambiance that just encourages a good evening. Mark and his staff are working hard to make this a place to comeback to, and they will be rewarded. The food has moved away from a "freezer to fryer" offering, to something they are proud to put on the table. Well worth a try.

Food was fantastic. So was everything else. Really love this place when we visit (Aucklanders) Took my father t I day who is over for a visit. He loved it too. Shame the band didn't start until late we would have liked to enjoy that too.

The chef made me a vegetarian pasta as I'm one of those fussy eaters. One of the best pasta's I've ever had!! Staff were lovely and very helpful :)

Friendly front staff, everything was promt n reasonably quick. Fell off on th beef roast though, gravy like water, meat was bland, pumkin done lovely n th crushed peas gave some taste to meat, roast spuds needed more cooking n browning . Star Rating is only for th front staff.

Visited whilst waiting for the next intercity bus. Nice atmosphere and reasonable prices. We shared a plate of fish tacos between two which were good and also enjoyed the 2 for 1 desert offer.

They struggled to understanding drink orders

While on holidays visited the "The Crown and Badger" Tavern which enjoyed having a beer friendly staff. During the course of my visit I must of left my wallet without noticing that I had or it's fallen out, which ever upon getting back on my cruise which by this time has sailed I noticed my wallet missing not knowing where was concerned, but the next day received a call from Mark who ran the establishment and advised that they have the wallet which they will despatch it to our home address, which has happened all in order. So for their kindness and honesty I would out mostly recommend their establishment as well as their service within the tavern. All Aussies support this honest establishment.

As close as you will get to a UK style pub in Tauranga. Convivial, good selection of drinks (Guinness on tap 😊) and decent pub food. Nice outdoor area with a view of the Harbour for those warmer months. Recommended

I absolutely love this place, friendly service and I enjoy the live bands that play.

Great service. Keegan the bar tender was super helpful with decision making and poured a great guinness. Have been back several times and will be back again. Some of the best guinness I have had in New Zealand without a doubt.

Probably the best place to get Speights on tap. The chicken buffalo wings were awesome too!

The Crown & Badger is a stalwart on The Strand. It has a longstanding history as the best Irish Pub in Tauranga. If you're after a Guinness and live music - this is the place to be!
