D.Our reserved table was clean, our Server pleasant, our Order quick and presented well. My Prawn Salad was perfect and my friends were pleased with their choice too. Almost endless Wine List. Nice. Highly recommended.
T.Great food, great service, ordered the sirloin steak which was perfectly juicy and rich in taste and when paired with the red wine jus, was just full of flavour and exploded in the mouth. The chips and chutney were a great pairing with hot and crunchy chips cooling down out with the cold chutney. The chocolate desert was overly rich but mixing with the marscapone made it just perfect and palatable. Love the place
C.Loved the experience we had at The Phoenix. The staff we’re friendly, accommodating & funny. Ambience is great too! Food-wise, I can’t complain! I love every bite I had, even the dessert! My partner and I we’re extremely happy with everything.

Despite them being busy we were looked after very well by our waiter Niraj. We started with yummy cocktails made by Sara.
Not only did they taste great they were garnished beautifully.
The food was delicious I had the Lamb Rack and my boyfriend had Sirloin steak cooked to our liking, served with hearty veggies and salad,generous servings.
We were so impressed. The standard of food is top notch, compliments to the Chef, she's nailed it!
Highly recommend The Phoenix.

E.Went here on the 1st with the in-laws for dinner, the menu was varied and full of very appetizing options and they had a very decent drinks list for gastro-pub style dinning.
There weren't a lot of vegetarian options but there was at least one item from each mains selection that would do. I ordered the vegetarian burger and it was well presented and extremely delicious, with a good size serve of chips!
Only giving 4 stars as the table service was a bit below the standard - they seemed to be low on staff and working very hard to try and get to every table, but not quiet succeeding.
There was also a pretty big mistake made on one of the orders, however the staff where very apologetic and re-made the meal for free, they even through in a complimentary ice cream!
I will definitely come here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to a friend.
N.My kids rated them 100 out of 10 :-). They loved the kids burger meal. I got a bit of a disappointing steak, very tough, hubby ordered the same thing and his was perfect. He swapped me and just ate it. Probably not the restaurants fault, just me being unlucky. I will be back to give it another go for sure
A.Really nice place to eat , but expensive , I had the fish and chips at just short of $30 loads of chips but for the money more fish on the plate would of been good but fresh . The chocolate dessert made up for it . Very busy around 5 pm and didn't seem any leadership in the waiting staff .
C.My partner and I stopped in at The Phoenix for dinner just a week ago. We ordered some Fried Chicken, a Chicken and Cranberry Pizza and the Pork Burger. The food was okay, nothing amazing, but filled us up. We found the service to be very average - we waited 45 minutes for our entree, an hour for our mains. The staff member that served us explained how the kitchen was frustrated at them, so they did not want to ‘call our table away’ when we had finished our entree, and they instead asked another staff member to deal to our table. It wouldn’t be our first choice for a dinner out again. The venue is nice and location is great, however.
R.It's a rare treat that 4 diners are delighted by the meals they order. We were at the Phoenix. The lamb was the best I've had in years. And we had a very pleasant attentive and unpretentious waitress.

R.Just one of 2nd best place I would definitely go back. They serve the food really well either solo or in groups. I have not tried all their food varieties, however, one of my favourites was the calamari and Seafood platter. Just really taste so good and soft. Clap clap to that. I would definitely recommend this place. The staff are really handy and making sure that their customers are well served. So hands up to your hardwork. ^-^
C.Service was quick and great staff positivity. We had the share plates. They were good sized portions and very well presented. Beers were poured correctly and wine was crisp. Overall a great experience and we will come back for sure.
E.Absolutely loved the food and service! I had seafood chowder and my partner the ribs. He said it’s the best ribs he ever had and I was very impressed with the chowder! Come highly recommend!
S.Great service and wonderful mains.. the dessert I chose tho was not. I looked at it and was going to laugh! It was so utterly deconstructed, they missed the tart completely . It was literally sauce with a few biscuits crumbs thrown on top with a flourish of some sort of herb. Disappointing end to a scrumptious meal .

A.Young Indian lady serving us for breakfast was rude and didn’t really interact at all didn’t use her manners or anything, we would say what we wanted and she would just say nothing and take it down and not really understand what we were saying, the system they use takes for ages using there iPads and doesn’t really allow staff to interact with customers but just looking down at a iPad this is all before we had the food. Change review up one star as food was really good.

O.Had dinner here on Friday evening. Food was average and took over an hour to come out. I had a salad which was missing a key element of the dish. When my partner mentioned this they gave a 2 dollar discount... We were never asked if we would like more drinks and service was lacking.

P.Nice venue near the waterfront in Tauranga. Beer themed, but at lunchtime it seemed a lot like a restaurant. I should be more specific, it's craft beer themed. Seems to be targeted at the "not all beer tastes the same" demographic.
The vegetarian burger was tasty and it was a decent size, as it was lunchtime I didn't try the beer.
Nice staff and facilities, heading into "a bit pricey" territory.
S.Had a Beautiful breakfast here before heading to Thames. It was amazing, the service was exceptional and their beer board was awesome. Would highly recommend stopping in here.
R.We'd noticed that this is easily the busiest eatery in Tauranga, and because of the crowds it took us awhile to try it. Once we did, though, we liked it. Something about it feels very club-like. I think people like to make it their place and meet their friends here; so it has a very social and festive atmosphere. We very much enjoyed our fish burgers and beer, and in spite of the crowds the service was fine. We'd come back again.
B.As you see from the photo the food looked amazing and tasted just as good. The staff member serving us was definitely an asset to their team. Even modifying a drink to our liking 👍

The Pizza's were great value and the pizzas were all amazing! The toppings for the pizzas were very generous! One of the better pizzas I have had in a long while.
M.Beautiful location. Has an indoor and outdoor area. Great beer selection and good happy hour that includes margaritas! I loved the decorations and the way the place was set up. I will definitely be returning!!

Look for their weekly specialals, makes the experience better as you end up paying less than their regular prices. We went on a Thursday with 18$ burgers(yes thats their special price!)
A.Good but expensive. Very expensive! I liked the ambience and the location - nice view of the lake but the food was just ok for quite substantial prices. Our server was lovely even though she was new there.
H.We tried a new Brew recommended by the lovely barman and we were very happy with his choice. Also we had the delicious Calamari strips and beer batter fries, happy with the price, service, cleanliness, location, and the loo was immaculate. Well done, we will be back again 😁😁

B.I have eaten the lamb cutlets @ Phoenix for years and this way my meal yesterday. We have always had a good meal here and came two nights in a row on this visit as we are always treated as friends.
S.Very nice atmosphere and good food. The live music makes this place feel very warm. The Tex Mex pizza is a great combination that I'd never have thought of. My only complaint is that this restaurant is a bit expensive, $11 for a pint, $15 for wedges and $25 for a pizza (though a very nice pizza) seems a little much.
S.New menu??? Seems like it’s a bit different..... had a great meal tonight, kids menu was still the same which is fantastic mini steak and mini cheese burgers for kids, adults had fish and chips, steak with mushroom sauce and I had beef check with hummus very yummy will totally order it again!!! Nice staff.
P.A pretty average night the drinks were really good. There was one really amazing young girl that took really good care of us. Food pretty average won't be rushing back in a hurry.

E.Firstly: the food. Amazing. I'd been told the food was great but still didn't expect it to be as good as it was.
The pork belly bites are so well cooked and presented - just the right amount of bbq sauce so it's not too sweet, with apple sauce and radish to cut through the sweetness.
The anti-pasta is just as good, 3 types of cheese, 3 types of biscuits, 2 types of olives, plus more including a mini wagu steak!
Drinks are excellent and the staff can tell what will complement what (and not just wines too! Local beers and ciders too!)

T.This place takes the cake.. or i should say donut! After experiencing a horrible dinner at a restuarant in the area. We did a quick google to find somewhere to save the evening for my fathers birthday. The Phoenix popped up and was in walking distance. The staff are lovely at the bar. The desserts were gorgeous and if i could give them 10 stars for their hot chocolates i would! Definitely going to head back here next for dinner and to try more of the dessert menu!
t.Came in for brunch with my fiancee and 4 year old daughter, was met at the door and seated at a table with quick service. Even had some colouring and puzzles for my daughter to entertain herself. Eggs Benedict and French toast were very tasty and served quickly, will be back again

F.We both ordered the eye filet off the menu, very short wait time. The food was fantastic! Possibly the best steak I've ever had and the whole meal was just fantastic. We had a slight issue with the charges on the bill but it was resolved fast with no fuss. Loved it team, we will be back when we're in town 😀
C.Me and some family members came here for snacks and drinks. The cocktails were great. We ordered the antipasto and the ultimate pizza. Arrived in great time. And were both amazing. Onion rings on the pizza was awesome as we love them! Only one issue. No knives were provided for the antipasto so we used the pizza slice to cut the cheeses.

S.Visited for the 1st time and last few Sunday's for the live music & a drink followed by dinner. Tried the lamb cutlets the 1st week, a steak the 2nd. Both hit the mark. Saw the Sunday roasts going out, will be trying that next week looked pretty good for $20. The courtyard area was warm with people laughing, so all in all a good outing.

Came here for a Sunday breakfast while staying in Tauranga. Really nice place to dine on a sunny morning.
Staff were friendly and efficient and the food and coffee was great. I had Eggs bene with a side of Hash Brown - the hash browns were nice and decent value for money.
I could see how this is a popular place for lunch, dinner and drinks.
Enjoyed my breakfast here and will be back next time I am in town.

T.What an awesome experience we had at The Phoenix the other night! The food was amazing! Our eye fillets were cooked to perfection, well seasoned and melted in your mouth 😍 Oh and the burger was also amazing, the bun was the best I have ever had! and trust me I've had plenty! And to top that off, the service was second to none, the little Maria was just so friendly, tentative, quick and just lovely! My favourite restaurant in Tauranga by far! Good job team! 👏

L.Very good place to eat. Amazing value for money with the best pizza in Tauranga. Waiting staff not amazingly efficient though, able to forget about you for 15 minutes after giving you the bill then getting annoyed that I got up and paid at the register. Recommend the tex-mex pizza.

T.My experience was only average. I have moved to Tauranga recently and I asked for a recommendation to go for a date night with my husband. The Phoenix was given the best review from my new work colleagues. We were there on a Wednesday so we ordered the Special for the day, $20 steak meal. I understood that the steak were smaller and I requested my piece to be raw. Unfortunately, it was medium. My husband ordered his to be medium but his steak looked raw. We were going to swap but we also ordered different sauces. So, I think the orders were messed up and I was going to mention it to the staff but, no one came to us to check of we liked our meals before our plates were taken away. It's a nice place but that service and food was only average.

J.This restaurant was so good that we visited it for lunch two days in a row. A group of six mature women had a delightful reunion on Friday 9 July, thanks to the service and the food. We returned as a group of seven the following day. One of the group has coeliacs and was very impressed with the number and range of meals she could choose from. We all enjoyed our food and experience. We will return when we next visit Tauranga.
V.A MUST TO DO IN TAURANGA!!! This place exceeded our expectations. A great place not only to hang out but to take wonderful memories back home is what they offer. Our host was bubbly Maria. They ran out of main ingredient for cocktail I wanted and I just told her to ask bartender to be creative as I was looking something refreshing to my palate! I was amazed with ‘creativity’! The calamari was nothing like I have ever eaten in New Zealand, the garlic pizza bread if not better but certainly competed with a good Italian place. After entrée mum and I decided to go for lighter options so that we could try have something for our sweet tooth and ordered tacos, and chicken schnitzel. We couldn’t believe when those small dishes were our lunch for next day 😅!
And how can we forget to thank team for looking after our Maltese baby who enjoyed the bun after being on road all day!

S.Had a wonderful stack night dinner here for my birthday out with my family. However sat for 15-20mins after finishing eating our food and no one cleared our tables. People around us tables got cleared but none came to us and we had a young baby who started to get restless so we had to just get up and leave with out having dessert which we were wanting but no one came to clear plates or ask if we wanted it. Very disappointed with the service with the yummy food you have here. I would come back for the food but not the service we were given

j.Popped in for a quiet Sunday afternoon snack, as from out of town and wanted something to eat before driving home. Was over visiting family and they recommended the Phoenix. From the moment I arrived with my family the staff were fantastic, very happy to help and very efficient. Comfortable seating in the "booth area". Despite the miserable day outside, was a warm atmosphere, not only with the standard of staff, but also heaters going to really warm the place up. Ordered the Phoenix pizza from the menu, with the cranberry sauce, and it tasted even better than the menu suggested. Best pizza have ever had. Full credit to the team. Fantastic service all around and full compliments to the kitchen team as well. Keep up the awesome effort guys.
P.I loved the phoenix pizza it was enough for 2 people and was filling. Out door seats with sun umbrellas which looked out on to Tauranga waterfront. The only downside was having to share the area with smokers. The service was good and the staff friendly. This was somewhere I would return to but perhaps sit inside away from the smoking.

The girls and boys working here look really nice and presentable, nice uniformed staff presentation. Specials are really yummy. Booking a table is sassle free. I really love this restaurant.

E.Had a lovely meal with family here without prebooking a table just walked in off the street. Was seated straight away and had lovely service from a waitress who had a very knowledgeable understanding of the wine on the menu as to which wines complemented which meals. The Food was Amazing cooked to perfect and arrived in a timely manner from when we order even with a full restaurant. We indulged in the desert menu and was very surprised with the total cost of the evening out being very reasonably priced for such high class service and excellent food and wine.
B.While we are always nervous when trying a new place - and often disappointment - the food and staff at the Phoenix were awesome. This is why we go out and pay good money - a nice Saturday morning outing. Many thanks to the team - very professional and friendly.

R.We recently celebrated my mothers 90th birthday at this venue. We cannot praise the team and venue highly enough. Even though we had an initial hiccup with one of the party having mechanical issues and had to change the eating time (and they were extremely busy at the time) nothing was a problem. They just could not do enough to ensure our experience was an enjoyable one. Thank you Ralph and the rest of the team, especially the waitress assigned to our table, for making this day a memorable occasion.

B.My dad and I came in for breakfast one more. He got the pumpkin pancake and I got the salmon waffle. Both were great! I loved the hot smoked, in house salmon that they served, and his was loaded with goodies. The coffee was good, but the service was a bit slow. All in all, great breakfast option if you're in this part of Napier.

L.Wow what a FABULOUS night. My husband and I walked down the Main Street of the strand just looking for a place to have a drink and got super ‘wowed’ from the Phoenix. This place was by far the busiest place in the street, it was packed but we tried our luck anyway. We met our waitress Mackenzie who organised us a spot outside and got our drinks on the way. We only intended on staying for a drink but she mentioned the burger deal for the night so what ended up being one drink turned into dinner and drinks. Couldn’t fault her service or any of the other staff that were working. We will definitely be back. Could even say our new local.

S.My sister and I ordered the Blue cheese, Pear and Walnut pizza . But couldn't taste any of the blue cheese which we both love . Definitely thought it was just gets and no blue cheese . Was told that it was a house made blue cheese and feta . Had some kumara chip as well which was lovely . Very delicious . Just a bit disappointed that we couldn't taste that blue cheese . Other than that awesome place would still go there again 😁
P.The food is amazing here, the service is great and I recommend the food. Rhea the chef serves a great pork belly bites with curly chip, aioli and sauce. Get down here pees. Recommend these little porkers.

We own a bar up north and were recommended to you by friends we meet up with. You did not disappoint from the ambience with drinks in the sun, friendly banter followed by great steaks all round. The challenge is not that you have made through years of changes but that you made through Covid, keep it up!

We arrived few minutes before dinner was ready to kick off and were greeted by a young man who appeared to be in charge. He was amazing all throughout the night! The food was also perfect. Our only complaint was with the live music outside, bit too loud.
S.Just had a surprisingly amazing vegan lasagna! I was a bit on the fence about it but Maria assured me that "you'll love it!" and indeed I did.
D.The Phoenix is without doubt my favourite place to go in Tauranga. The staff are always attentive, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the beef salad and Tex Mex pizza. Nothing beats sitting out the front with
a pint of Golden and looking out onto the water. Cannot wait to go back when I return to Tauranga.
s.Service was great, seats were a bit worst for wear. Food was ok. I ordered the eye fillet and took around 45mins to get. Food looked nice but tasted a bit tangy so i only ate the steak and not the veges. All in all 4/5 stars

L.Great food and service as usual. I am a little biased having worked here as a musician for years however it is true. Ana and Ralph are hard working kiwis who have taken on many young kiwi's, Maori and non Maori as well as international workers and have helped grow them into fine young leaders. I have seen many come and leave and for the most part have left here as more experienced and well rounded adults than when they arrived. Hospitality is not an easy industry. Stress can get up easily and while most rise to the challenge, some find it overwhelming. It is here where the true character of a person is revealed. Ana and Ralph are honest, reliable and kind kiwis (some times too kind). I have seen them rise to the task of leading an often very young inexperienced team of workers looking for head start in a very challenging industry. I applaud what you do folks. Keep it up!!!

V.First time here last night. Great atmosphere and excellent staff. Only negative comment is the 2 of us who ordered the ribs found them tender but very tasteless. Would have been awesome with some spicy sauce or sweet chilli sauce or something to give them some flavourful. Very generous serving and would definitely order again if they had some flavourful "wow"
d.My family and i stopped in saturday afternoon for a quick bite before going to a show, place was reasonably busy and i had heard there pork bites where a must try. The food was outstanding and the service was faultless Jacob our waiter was incredible the service we received from was the best by far i have ever had in the north island. We are looking forward to returning

A.Food was alright. But the staff were weird. Appeared at your table without saying anything and just stared at you. Would recommend the chicken and cranberry pizza with the guacamole on it, that was very nice.
H.Love this place, my favourite is the pear, Walnut and blue cheese pizza, totally yum! Very casual atmosphere with friendly staff. 8s very popular and can fill quite quickly as it has huge tv screens to watch sports, especially overseas games. Even with a big sporting match and fans cheering, you can still carry our conversations and not feel drowned out.
Went there one year in my birthday and they surprised me with a free desert and candle, and we're even willing to sing Happy Birthday!

To cap it off Shania the young waitress was very helpful. A local band The Anzacs started to play very relaxing music that just made the day so relaxing.

T.Called into the Pheonix for the first time tonight for an early dinner must say we were very impressed!.Very nice layout has a beer/fire fighters theme which was pretty neat.Our waitress was super friendly and helpful think she may have been Australian cant remember her name though.Had the lamb rack which was a very well put together dish,nicely presented and cooked to perfection!.We all left pretty pleased and will be back when over the bridge next.

J.Phoenix is a regular go to for lunch meetings, taking customers out, after work drinks, etc. You can always count on the food quality and service. Great location, view and atmosphere. Also lots of specials and events. It has also been one of the longest staying places on the Strand which sees new restaurants popping up all the time which says a lot.
S.Nice place, but like everywhere in Tauranga is a bit quiet considering it's a Friday night. Not marking it down for that - everywhere seems to be like that in Tauranga these days - but for out of towners it's worth noting. It has a late license but doesn't stay open super late unless there are enough people there to justify it (again cannot really fault then for that). Good beer selection, friendly staff and the manager made sure there were no hassles when we needed to move from the side to the front because they were closing up the side - he was clearly making an effort to ensure that we were enjoying our night and that always counts for a lot.

A.I enjoy the vibe The Phoenix offers and the mix of both locals and travelers. With a raised outside area, The Phoenix offers a quint essential Kiwi experience with outside tables in a heated covered area which is ambient and inviting. Inside there are both tables for larger groups or smaller intimate tables to meet your occasion. Outside there are areas where you can enjoy the sunshine by day or enjoy people watching at night.

l.Took the hubby and daughter out for dinner Saturday night to the phoenix and everything was terrific the chicken breast was to die for and the hubbys burger was MASSIVE, but the service is what did it for me Jacob looked after us incredibly always checking in on us without being to much in your face could answer any question we threw at him and talk about his million dollar service with a smile we will be returning.
A.Good food, great setting, but let down by it's poor beer selection. Being tied to Monteith's means it can't compete with other bars if craft beer is your thing.

b.Went out for a saturday arvo drink to the phoenix pizzas were average and fries could have being a little more crunchy however thoroughly enjoyed ourselves due to the service we received mainly from the Irish guy and the boy with tattoos i have to say in all my time i have never seen 2 males move so quickly without looking rushed or flustered and i worked hospo for 10 years and would dream of having staff like this on my team.

j.The Phoenix ( Te Papa o Nga Manu Porotakataka) An ok, ongoing, in-progress multipurpose space for skaters ( concrete seating has anti skate grinding pegs inserted ), events, meets and hanging out. No wi-fi that I could find. No shade. There is a small grassy bank to sit on. Portable toilets currently, as rebuilding toilet block. Great points are; its bang in the middle of the Mount Bar Strip... next to two bars; Fire, and 8. Pilot bay is a very short distance, as is the open ocean and the Mount ( Mauao ) Events are held there like 'We run the night' with music and a good vibe. When or if Phoenix gets shade and Wi-Fi, it will be a great place.
