They have a very good menu pretty well to suit anyone, very well stock bar in a rustic old pub put on it's current site around 1906,has mostly been refurbish but not changing it's old ambience. Neat friendly staff, great place to stop for dinner and or lunch and anything in between, great for dining when passing going North or South from 5pm to reasonably late, easy access coming of and getting back on, the Waikato Expressway.

I hope these guys know they are really worth stopping in, as there were quite a few people and I feel they could have had maybe another chef as they seemed rushed off their feet in an organised way!

D. R.We ordered 2x Rango chicken and a bowl of fries to share. I should have realised then it was the snack and not lunch menu, which you flip to the underside to read. That's ok. The chicken is delicious with ranch dipping sauce and fries were hot, non greasy, and plentiful. When we saw the size of the lunch meals we were pleased with our choice. You might want to share a lunch meal, if you like the same food. They're enormous. We couldn't finish our snacks. Diners were arriving and leaving constantly. Great pub food. Good for large groups and couples. Families will enjoy this place. The upgrading and renovating is in progress and will look great when they finish. Not everything on the menu was available but there's plenty of choice.

T. S.Great spot if you want to get out of Auckland for a little bit. Used to come here as a kid and be amazed at the huge bowls of chips. Well guess what they still do them! The food here is delicious, big and such great prices. The kids meals are also huge!! Highly recommend 👌

Huge meals, warm staff but a lack of heating on a chilly winter's lunchtime made the experience not so enjoyable!
New management has some work to do to update and warm the place up. We were offered a heater to help warm us up but it was very small for a large space and while it was delivered and plugged in, they didn't turn it on at the wall.
Would give a higher rating except for the lack of heating!
Be warned this place is VERY popular booking ahead is recommended!
Will be back to dine again.
D. A.We booked for 6.30 and got our meal finally at 8.10. Fish was hot, chips were cold, steamed veg raw. In their favour the did order more veg but by the time it arrived the meal was over. A disappointing meal. Not the first time we had been there by any means but it will take some persuading to get us back.
J. M.It's a bit out of the way, but a nice place for a meal and a beer. Staff were friendly and there's good parking right outside.
Menu was full of good, meaty, pub fare options. Service was a bit slow though.
There was live music there on Saturday and it was possible to listen from outside while sitting on the grass.
Be sure to visit the historic cemetery across the road, to appreciate the area fully.

W.30yrs since we were last at Rangariri Hotel, and it's as good as ever, the meals are great value and if you go home hungry, it's your own fault.
J.Rangariri bar and restaurant known to locals as rango's is a quite and pleasant place off to the side heading south. Excellent food and great servicing recommend that to all to make a stop in when travelling past

Z. O.Really cool old pub that's been there forever. I remember passing it often in the sixties when the smell of peat fires permeated the air. They're now long gone but I really miss the smell. In shooting season the place was alive with duck hunters and boats and dogs. This pub reminds me of the past. Long may it stay..
J. W.Great "Southern style" hospitality on the outskirts of Auckland. Friendly staff with that classic rich, dark brown interior that smells of good food and beer. Food is delicious and generously portioned. Dress code is whatever your comfy in (but please no pyjamas or onesies...). Nice outdoor space for the kids to have a play.

P. P.Great food is always something that I will return somewhere for, and I will return here. I have been here a few times because of this. Service staff are fairly good. Decor is old school which kind of adds to the feeling of the place. If you've got the time and want a feed and a beer, then this place is worth stopping at. I recommend this business.

f. t.Got lunch here as the cafe next door was closed. Food was pretty average, quantities ok. Booth I was in smelt vaguely of urine, carpet needs a clean or replacing. Ladies toilet basin also needs a good clean, with grime around taps that tells me it hasn’t been properly cleaned for a while. Pity, as it would otherwise be a useful stopping point a decent distance out of Auckland. Cheers to the cook though, who seemed to be pumping meals through at a good pace.

S. J.Our ride was late and so we were stuck in Rangiriri. We decided to stop for a couple of drinks in the Hotel to pass the time. It was a great decision. Lovely Tavern. Cheap local beers and good food. It was a quite night for the pub but there were lots of people over in the restaurant section. Would recommend a stop if you need a break, or even if not.

The interior here does feel a bit worn and old in some places but i think this adds to the old tavern charm.

On the outskirts of Te Kauwhata, so handy for the farmers and builders of the new kiwibuild subdivision.
I had the rongo rump steak (450 grams / 1 pound) for $26 with salad and more chips than I could deal with. Also had a couple of tall glasses of sprite for $5.40, less than the price of one glass in Wellington.
We shared a generous plate of garlic bread for $5.5 (photo was taken after some pieces were eaten) and a banoffie pie dessert that the ladies enjoyed.
Accommodation is available upstairs if you need to sleep it off.
