Very yummy meal. Altho when I said I wanted to make my entree a main, I meant chips &/or salad not twice as many ribs.

Always been a great place, friendly staff and nice big tasty meals and beers

A great dinning experience with excellent food & the service was spot on. Didn't wait long between courses. Highly recommend this venue.

Even though its Covid19 lockdown, it didn't feel like it in here, yes we were social distancing from other customers but it didn't feel like it was forced like in most places now days, staff were plesent, and very helpful, atmosphere was good and food was great. Thanks for a good evening out.

Amazingly lovely staff. Stunning building and delicious food. We sat outside in the sun eating our meals and sipping on a refreshing drink. Will definitely go back next time we are in Timaru

Been lots of times over the last few years always been good with lots of choices. We went on a Saturday night very busy with a good atmosphere however the food was very disappointing my wife had chicken snitzel and mash the chicken had no taste and the mash was either instant or frozen not to good, I had beefburger which was okay the however chips were like overnchips, The menu has been reduced no battered blue cod and only four desert choices. The website still has the full menu on. It was a shame because for years you could rely on the food to be excellent hope this was a one off.

Never disappointed with our meals at Speights. Whether dinner for tea or a crowd of 30 they have always received 5 stars from us. Staff are friendly and food tasty. Whether inside or out there is always a great feel for the place.

Not a bad spot for a meal and a beer with friends, one issue though, as I was driving I was drinking mid ale, I asked the chick on the bar how many could I have before I can't drive, simple question really, was only looking for a rough guideline, how ever, she wouldn't even give me that. Otherwise it's a good spot.

Speights is renowned for the quality of its food and staff, and our visit was no different. Young but efficient staff were on their mark the entire time while the food was its usual wonderful and plentiful. Yes, great value and an all-round enjoyable experience.

Outstanding! Felt like a beer and steak so found the closest pub. Excellent overall experience. The food was great with an impressive menu and nice atmosphere with a fire going. The standout was the staff; all happy, knowledgeable and attentive.

Very tasty food and awesome service!! All staff were very happy and friendly!! Liked the fact that we didn’t have to ask for a high chair for our baby when they set the table up for us, they just did it!! Great work team!!

Hi, We popped in on a busy night, crusaders night! So lots of bookings, but we were given great service a table and ate a fantastic meal of the best venison & steak I've had in a while! This bar has great ambiance! Love the candles & relaxed family atmosphere! Thanks so much wish our speights in Wellington were as good as you Southerners!

Even to us oldies Speight's is always welcoming. We called in the other day around three for lunch. No problem. My wife had a dietary problem which we discussed and solved. My blue cod was good and lamb shanks satisfied my sister in law. The coffee was excellent and the guy in charge went out of his way to be helpful.

We love the meals 😋 at the Speights Ale House Timaru. The service is always 2nd to none and a big pat on the back to the chef and staff when we had our last meal there, a lunch on the 10th Oct 2020.

Love this place. For steaks and salads plus chicken dishes. Yum. Always a damn good place to eat. Staff are on the ball with a smile. Hey, and the prices are ok too. Great in summer or a cold winters nite.

Very nice atmosphere and good food. I had the pork belly sandwich and it was very tasty. The fries were excellent as well. The only disappointment was the caramel sundae which was definitely lacking in caramel.

This is a good place for travellers if stopping in Timaru. The food choices are good and the service is also good. There is an upstairs dining area and also outdoor seating. The chicken burger is tasty and the side of onion rings are the best I've had in years. Half steak sandwhich was perfectly cooked and well presented. Free water. There is car parking nearby also.

Firstly speights is absolutely disgusting . And your internet is slow . But the orange juice is good and the place is warm well done

Not sure if I'd bother again. A bit disappointed overall. The Steak was really average, the salad consisted of a handful of leaves with grated parmesan cheese over it. Maybe the Chef was having an off night, but I could do better at home. Sorry!.

Lovely inside, set up with fantastic outdoor options including sitting dining and bean bags on the grass for those sunny days. Nearby parking. No road noise. I don't think anyone would regret stopping by here if they were passing through.

Usually better than this. Hopefully they were just having an offday. I ordered chicken filo, very nice but overpriced and far too much lettuce. For some strange reason coffee was served before dessert!

Probably one of the coolest Speights Alehouses I have been to! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. We just stopped for a quick beer on the way through town but will definitely be back for a good innings one day :-) Good onya mate!

Arrived in for lunch on a cold frozen day, atmosphere was awesome, it was warm cozy and great service. We are having dreams about the soup of the day, very yummy and filling, can't wait to go back again!!

Food was yummy and plenty to eat, tummy so full could'nt move. Friendly helpful staff. Nice to sit outside and enjoy your meal, shelter from the sun and rain. Good place for a good feed. ☺

This is the best spot in Timaru to have dinner, great old authentic customs house and we tried the new street food kitchen for some brilliant tapas style treats, very good selection of craft beers, friendly girls serving overall superb place.

Nice pub with plenty of ales and drinks to choose from also food is yummy ,and you can go to the street kitchen side of the Ale house and gave delicious plates of food to share .The outside seating is great especially in the summer 😄👍🥃🍺🌞🌞

Nice ambience down town Timaru. Beautiful old stone building, with nice sunny outdoor area. Food was excellent, although the new 'fries' are HUGE!

A cool, cozy place. If you don't know where to eat or take your friends for drinks in Timaru, go to this place. Not cheap dining but worth the experience.

Speight's Ale House Timaru is one of Timaru's fancier restaurant/pub. If you are looking to go somewhere that has a full restaurant as well as a proper bar, then Speight's is a good choice.

Nice modern fit out and fast friendly service. The food is always delicious and beer always ice cold.
