N. L.One of the greatest Steak & egg burgers in the Country hands down, Inch thick rib eye medium rare, juicy as and suitably priced. If you want your egg runny, best to ask for it. Couldn’t get my gob around it, but somehow woofed it down like it was the last food on earth, have to be quick else the buns will get soggy, very juicy. Located on a tricky bend on Highway 1, but Worth the stop!

M.I stopped in for a late lunch, got the biggest steak burger I have had in years that had a really nice tender large hunk of steak in a nice bun and and all the toppings you would expect in a top quality steak burger, pretty of truck & trailer parking, I am definitely stopping here again for another meal
P. A.Lance and the team do an awesome job at The Bullring. Great value, really nice people and its our regular go to place in South Waikato. Their burgers are fantastic and real value (the old kiwi style burgers). Highly reccomended, whether your local or just passing through.
T. 2.Absolutely love the food here! Amazing service everyone is so friendly and helpful! The toasted sandwiches are amazing, so is the fish! The ice creams are absolutely amazing, I always get one before I leave. Me and my family go here quite often and we always enjoy our meals!

T.Great place for a pit stop. I have been here a couple of times now and the service is prompt and the food is pretty good. I'd rate the fish burger as being pretty darn good! Would definitely go back for another!!

C. B.Stayed the night here with friends. Found the management very helpful and friendly. The accommodations are very clean and comfortable tho basic. The food is simple but some of the best we have tasted! Although close to the highway we hardly noticed the road noise. They have a small dairy as well as the pub and lodge.

K. B.My partner and I went away for labour weekend, we ended up driving much further and for much longer than expected. We tried to find somewhere to stay overnight and finally stumbled across this place.
New owners and hardly even up and running but took us in for the night. We hadn't eaten dinner yet and it was about 8pm, there's not much around to go and get food. Their restaurant was closed but still staff were willing and happy to cook us up something to eat. Rooms tidy and clean, had a nice hot shower in the morning and a coffee. Amazed at the great service! Would definitely stay again.

j. j.A great place to stop on your travels as plenty of parking & space for kids to get a run around or play on the playground. Clean bathroom facilities for customers. A 'quick to go' kiwi style menu plus a grocery shop for convenience foods. Liquor store attached and a bar. Very country Kiwiana atmosphere. They had a wood burner stove burning the day we stopped in which was nice on a cooler day. Newspapers, TV going & mags to use while having a break. We had toasted sandwiches and they were very nice. Coffee was pretty good too.

Honestly we stopped at this restaurant because it had advertised on the outside that inside they offered venison sandwiches. I couldn't pass that up before I left New Zealand. Unfortunately they had that item scratched from the menu inside due to new owners recently taking over the place. I was disappointed but I had a hungry family to feed.
So, myself and my two children had burgers and my wife had lamb curry pie. So, I've been ranting about the non fast food burgers I've had in New Zealand and I was extremely surprised that this burger fit into that category. It was awesome!
I've been describing the beef patty to many as this: In the US we bite a chunk off and have to chew it up. But, every non fast food burger place we visited the beef melted in my mouth. I guess either they get there meat fresh from the butcher every day, or there is something special about New Zealand burgers in general.
Nothing I ate tasted frozen, everything tasted fresh except the fries (chips). I would recommend this restaurant in a heart beat to anyone.
Just remember, no venison sandwiches.

m. s.We stayed at the Bullring Atiamuri for a few nights early June (Winter) and found the Rooms warm at night and a very comfortable bed, nice clean and tidy Amenities. The Cafe meals being Dinner at night and Breakfast were very nice, plenty of and good value. Lance and his team were very friendly and most helpful. We will definitely be coming back. A.Friendly people, their ice cream cones are freekin huge an delicious. Single scoop, looked more like triple scoops. Thoroughly enjoyed. To top it off, clean toilets 😁 winning.

V. M.We stopped off on our way to Whakapapa and what a treat it was. We had burgers, all day breakfast, a toasty and chips. Then we got some cakes and sweets for the rest of our journey. We are already trying to work out how we can get another visit in on our way back to Auckland in a few days!
P. S.We stopped for lunch last Saturday. The weather was cold and raining but inside the fires were burning and we had the best toasted sandwiches I have had in a long time. Service was great. Don't go past here because you are in for a treat

B. H.Seems to now be called the Bull Ring Tavern. I've given it 4 stars mainly for convenience. If you don't have high expectations then you won't be disappointed. It's the only stopping place on this road and a welcome place for us to grab a coffee and cake. OK, yes, it's pretty basic but the toilets were clean and well stocked, the service was polite but unexcepional. Don't knock it. These people are working hard to provide you with a good service and it can't be easy in such a remote place.

N. M.Halfway between Tokoroa and Taupo this was a surprise find while passing through from Wellington. Fronts as a roadside Restaurant/ place to get a meal or - take-away food, but ... also has modern clean accommodation out back as well. Check it out, this is Excellent value
