We had been told great things about this cafe but we’re quite disappointed. $14 for a small bowl of super oily (I know they were truffle fries but did they need to be drenched?) chips with what looked like shredded Parmesan from the supermarket on top. The bench seats inside were quite dirty, with visible footprints clearly from children climbing about. The coffee didn’t taste good, and took 20 minutes to arrive! We understand there might be staff shortages but perhaps close part of the cafe to allow for fewer patrons to ensure better quality or something imo, just very disappointing! We were going to stay for lunch (breakfast only runs til 11) but after the fries and coffee we decided against it. I’m sure their dinner menu is better.

A great place for a sit down breakfast before strolling across the beach. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the eggs benedict was delicious! Just don't leave food unattended if sitting outside, the seagulls are greedy as gannets and will swoop unattended tables in seconds 😉

They were short staffed due to COVID and did a fantastic job keeping everyone fed and watered. To the owners of this place they were a credit to your business. Top notch burgers! Some of the best service, we just walked in after knowing they were fully booked for dinner. We walked in at 4 15 and at 4 30 they were turning people away... the just squeezed us in. We would definitely go back!

We would like to send out a big shout to all the staff over the last few weeks for their unwavering effort to keep Charlie Farley's open and available to the public despite being extremely short staffed due to many isolating with Covid. The long hours and days without a break that they are enduring shows what a great Team of people work there and that they have each others backs and their Customers. As an Onetangi local that is our coffee stop every morning and we are always greeted with a smile and a chat by all the staff and appreciate their efforts to try and keep us all happy. Well done Team Charlie Farley!

we booked a table for eight and they were ready when we arrived. We all ordered lunch and drinks. I ordered the salt baked kumara and it was incredible, as a vegetarian I get sick of salads and fries and so it’s refreshing to have a unique new meal option and it absolutely did not disappoint. One of the nicest fries I’ve had around. Crispy cauliflower burger and Crumbed chicken were pure winners. Chicken was so tender and tasty it gave me a foodgasm! Great location and happy with the staff and service. 👍🏻

Tried this place twice whilst staying nearby. Service was pleasant or indifferent depending on the day it seems. Extra star provided for the cool great white teeth in the cafe. Day 1 - coffee rating: 3/5, average but passable if you're a sleep deprived parent of a 4 month old. Day 2 - long black dash of cold milk. Rating: 1/5, lukewarm, best described as the Milky Bar kid it was so white. I politely asked for a fresh one, but wasn't up for waiting another 15 mins. The bacon and egg panini was stale, dry, and likely leftover from the day before.

Shout out to the amazing locals for the beautiful experience and memories! We were traveling Waiheke island and we showed up in Charlie Farley's. Such a happy place in a beautiful Sunday evening! People were singing, dancing 💃 and having a good time. We felt like this is the time and place to play Piano man by Billy Joel! So we made a request for the song to the musician who seems to know the locals very well. He changed the lyrics and used real names of people that were present there. He respected Eileen as old man and Zoe as the bartender in the song. Everyone loved it! Eileen herself came to us to wish us good luck XOXO. We were very touched. We'll cherish the memory forever! A good place to visit and eat/drink. The food is very good and the views are stunning, a beautiful beach and great sea just over the road. We ate here 2 nights in a row as we were staying just round the corner. The drinks service could be vastly improved, however a lot better sitting inside. Well worth a visit if in the area and peckish!

Definitely one if not the best eating experiences of our time on Waiheke. Started off with coffees and a devine caramel slice...top notch. Couldn't help notice the quality food passing our table and decided to share a wagu beef burger with bacon. Chips cooked to perfection and burger super yum !. Decent size of burger and sharing one between two was adequate. Great service and beautiful views to boot.

If you are ever visiting New Zealand take the ferry from Auckland over to Waiheke island. Down next to the beach in Onetangi you will find Charley Farleys, well worth the visit. Friendly staff, great food, events and atmosphere.

Went here for dinner and breakfast the next day. The service was fantastic, great communication from our waiter on the night regarding the status of our order. Food was fantastic, we had the beef burger and the fried chicken and polenta. I'd definitely recommend both dishes! Great coffee and breakfast when we came back the next day. I'm a fan!

Efficiently run busy buzzy gastropub. We went on a winter Friday evening. I'm sure it is magnificent in the summer looking across to the beach and sea. Glad we booked as the place was packed for kids night. We were forewarned, which we appreciated, and they manage it well with the little ones in a side room watching a movie. Food was well prepared, chips were fantastic, wide selection of beers and wines. Service was prompt, accurate and friendly. Food came out quickly despite the crowd yet didn't seem to have been rushed in the kitchen. Give them a go. Worth it.

Only ordered a couple of coffees, it was sun morning and soon busy, took about 40 minutes to get takeaway coffee. Food looked good... but i would go when its not so busy.

Came here at about 15:00 on a week day. The restaurant was fairly busy considering there was only one waitress serving tables. Despite this, my food arrived timely and service was great! I ordered the seafood salad sandwich. It was very tasty but I would consider switching up the bread. The bottom half was soggy and no one likes soggy bread :) The view from the patio alone would make me come back again.

Went for brunch and you definitely can’t beat the view! 4 stars for the food and 2 stars for the service. Food - pretty good, nothing groundbreaking. Side of smoked salmon was really good. Bloody Mary and coffee were must haves. Benedict was tasty and fresh but nothing to write home about. Also got the Mexican mince which was pretty interesting but more like a uniquely spiced Chilli with an overcooked egg. Service - self serve concept, which is a nice idea but was executed poorly. They had a very nice new hire who was begrudgingly helped by his staff which I get since it was getting busy but I felt sorry for him. Food came out at a decent time and they offered a share plate which was nice but they forget the Bloody Mary. Went back to the front after finishing the meal and was ignored for about 5 - 10 min. There was a decent line to order so I was standing with my number obviously trying to get their attention and was intentionally ignored by the senior staff. Luckily I was able to get the nice new hires attention eventually and they made my Bloody Mary without and apology or acknowledgement and then had to wait another 10 min to get it delivered to my table again. My advice is make sure you manage the service when you come so you don’t end up waiting around. Glad we came and might comeback for coffee and view but won’t be getting a meal again.

Came to Charlie's Farley's for brunch. Was a relatively limited brunch menu and does finish at 1130 but we were all able to find something something we liked. I had the avocado on toast, it was pleasant. The thing that really stands out about this place is the setting, it's a beautiful location, the place is well presented and the staff we dealt with were also very lovely. Would I say it's a super slick city cafe? Not quite, hence the things like not having an all day brunch on weekends - however it offers up a really nice charm and location that still make it every bit worth visiting if you're looking for a spot to eat or drink on Waiheke.

With a stunning outlook on Onetangi Beach and the devine food, I would definitely recommend this to any tourist or local on Waiheke Island. It is a suitable restaurant for all ages and has an awesome atmosphere. They have gluten-free options on almost the whole menu for coeliacs or gluten-free people. It is a great dinner to enjoy by the sea.

This place has a great outdoor area in the summer where you can look out on the ocean. It’s great for a drink and bar snacks but I probably wouldn’t recommend it for a proper dinner. We had the chicken wings and fries along with a couple of beers on Patrick’s Day. Food was just average. Staff are very friendly and attentive. You won’t have to wait long between drinks 😀

It was jam-packed when we got there. Ordering took a while and the staff were all over the place. Waiting took around 10-30 minutes. But I have to say that the food was great. We had Tuna Poke, fish and chips, corn tortilla with 3 dips and 2 lemonades. The tuna poke was the bomb. Taste was very rich and the tuna chunks were big. Fish and chips and tortilla had nothing special. It tastes the usual. But the serving was enough for the price. The lemonade was very very different. And they call it "sprite". It doesn't taste, even a hint, of lemonade and tastes like sparkling water. The place has a great ambiance as well since it was near the beach. Everything costs roughly around NZD$75. I recommend eating here.

Charlie's is very noisy, and they allow smoking. So to enjoy the food it is best to get a table as close to the road as possible. The wind off the water blows the smoke towards the interior room. Why so concerned with smoke? Well the food is very very good so you will not want to ruin such good food with second hand smoke. So my review is mixed, the setting on the beach is beautiful, but that is kinda ruined by the loud noise. The loud noise is because it is the best location. So what makes it good is also Harmon ng the place. Overall I am glad I went once, but I won't go back. Too much noise too much smoke.

Lovely setting, food and service was ok. Waitress brought out our meals with some oysters we said we didn't order oysters we had ordered a cheese burger. She came back with the burger and said did we want the oysters any way. We said thanks (thinking they would go to waste). When we left they charged us for the oysters. We explained that we hadn't ordered them and the waitress had 'given' them to us. But we still got charged. We left feeling more than a little disappointed. Ruined the meal for us.

Came here for a staff party, started off with the buffalo chicken wings which were delicious - juicy wings and drumsticks, tender, with a great buffalo sauce. Served with 2 sticks of carrot and celery which were a big meager and seemed like an afterthought. Followed with the double wagyu Angus burger which was nice but patties didnt seem home made, but all in all I was happy with the burger - could use a bit more sauce and salad for better balance. Brioche buns were nice. Ambience was nice and great location on the beach, the beer selection both tap and bottle were subpar, but overall I left happy. A few very minor improvements would bring this place up to 5 stars. We had the set menu for a large group booking so its possible that may have affected the experience

What a great place to stop for lunch while touring the various vineyards Waiheke has to offer. The staff are accommodating and we had no trouble getting a table for 7. All the food was fantastic and the wine list wasn't too shabby either. I would highly reccomend the platter; it had the most delicious blue cheese which, when accompanied by the relish, was absolutely incredible. I will endeavour to return before summers end.

Salt and pepper squid was delicious and my favourite dish. The pear salad and sliders were also good and portion sizes were really good. Very busy though so be prepared to wait a while for your food. Coming to Charlie Farley's is great experience starting with a ferry ride from Auckland. The setting is pleasant with a very nice ocean view adding to the ambience. The only downside is that there is a road between you and the beach and occasionally buses get in the way. The food was good, and the service was fine.
