B.four stars was my experience as a single traveller not the quality of the rooms which were to be polite very dated with that grandmas house smell of 1970s furnature, right on the main road so traffic is a bit loud, however thats all the bad things, the good things were it was incredibly cheap a basic room with shared bathroom was $35, the 'delux' room with double bed, tv and batchroom was $70, all linen provided, no fridge though and suprisingly comfortable.
They dont make rooms like this in NZ any more so a chance to sample some older history I guess, note they dont have any booking agency or website, I walked in off the street on a busy summer evening after trying the i-site and finding nothing and these guys had several rooms.
Pub and resteraunt also well dated but beer cold and grub basic, plentiful, good and cheap though there are lots of options outside.
