Cool wee place! We had the cheeseboard and OMG! Definitely well worth it. Full of goodies! We really enjoyed it. Will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed the food and service for our fist visit here - being dinner. The local beer was great. We had he starters of Pan Seared Scallops and NZ Fish Goujans and for the mains eye fillet and BBQ ribs but no room for dessert. The view of the lake is beautiful

Five stars for the food which is fab. No wait staff……need to order inside first….busy, crowded, had to wait 45min for food that staff had warned about….so we had been prepared to wait. Worth it and compliments to the chefs.

Awesome breakfast called the Trout breakfast. Everything I wanted to start the day. Great coffee, friendly welcoming staff. We went about 11.00am to let the crowds from an adventure race come and go. Will come again.

I really liked this place but there were minor things that could be improved and would probably help the venue. First, the beers selection is great and they know that hazy is the current craft beer trend. They were out of two wines options though. We visited on consecutive days, Thurs Jan 14th service was so-so and there were clearly a couple of people carrying the rest. It was considerably better the next day on Jan 15th. Just a heads up to customers, the portions here are f**kin massive which explains the range of $30+ options. You don't need an entree or dessert. If your kids want a snack then a bowl of fries would feed 3 easily.

We just enjoyed a fabulous day and finished off with a superb meal that had more than a hint of ‘I care’ in the preparation. The calamari was up there, and the lamb special was just perfect (even bought chef a drink) service was complimented by Liv who is their not so secret asset, a most pleasant young lady. Thanks guys!

We came to Trout for dinner and ordered a beef burger and seafood pasta. The beef burger was absolutely mouth-watering and absolutely loved every bite of it. The seafood pasta on the other hand was generous with fresh prawns, but the pasta could be prepared much better. There wasn't much flavour and taste on the pasta, overall making the dish mediocre.

Good view, table outside call us to stay here. The tap beer wasn't cold enough to drink more than one. The food was good, this risoto balls are delicious, but small portion. We ask pork ribs too, don't have time to take a picture, the hungry was bigger. Maybe we come back.

I've been coming here for my coffee for a while now, helps that they just my favourite beans! Finally sat down for a meal and wish I had done it sooner! Pictured is an eggs benny with the best hollandaise sauce ever and the big breakfast across the table. Both were amazing. The atmosphere in here is great, rugby on the TV and a great view up the lake. Your take away coffee is cheaper if you bring your own mug. Will be coming here again and again

Great staff - great food- we were there when all were under pressure and staff managed so well - even when a rude obnoxious customer made comment to staff members and complained about everything possible..Staff handled him so well- when they left all smiled and carried on .as though nothing had happened- just getting on with life! such a great attitude! My family and I visited Trout Restaurant in December 2018 and were blown away by the quality and quantity of our meals. Superb food with large portions (perfect for lunch the next day). Prices are reasonable as well! We have family members with stricter dietary requirements and the staff were very very accommodating! 10/10 would recommend and we’ll absolutely be back for another meal.

The food was delicious and the serving was huge. The view of the lake was beautiful. The staff was mostly friendly. There was one staff that looked like they'd rather be somewhere else. If you are going during Christmas/New Year's though, be prepared to wait for 40 minutes for your food.

Great place to sit outside as the sun goes down on a warm afternoon. Or head inside if the weather isn't favourable. Staff were lovely to deal with. We all had the blue cod for dinner, which we enjoyed but is pretty standard. It was a busy night so food took a while to arrive. Would still recommend for anyone looking for a place to chill out after a big day of hiking in the Wanaka region.

Average is about fair. The reception was a little sour, which I can forgive, obviously she'd had a big day but further to that the service was a little lacking, the food was great and there is a good range of beers but the kitchen forgot to make a friend's burger, so they rushed it. The burger was cold, not cooked in the middle and my friend wasn't impressed. Not going to rush back anytime soon.

Nice location, ok food. I had the Lamb, full description: Mustard and pepper crusted lamb back strap, served medium rare, roasted potatoes, braised red cabbage, pea puree and red wine jus. Lamb was nice and cooked well and pea puree was nice. Jus was a bit watery and didn't add much, potatoes were quite undercooked and hard but it was nye so possibly a very busy kitchen

Haast is a small place. This was the only place open at 3 in the afternoon to get a drink and food. We did see a cafe at haast junction but didn't know if it was open. It's only a minute from here

We recently travelled from Adelaide to New Zealand and arrived at this fabulous restaurant in scenic Wanaka for dinner on Guy Fawks night, 5/11/15. My husband had rack of lamb and I had fish n chips both delicious and big serves! And how lucky were we to be served by a friendly, smiling young man called Jacob, behind the bar and also bringing us our meals. Thanks for being an excellent waiter Jacob, much appreciated by us weary Aussie travellers!
