Reviews of Kelburn Village Pub
S.
Cool place with a great vibe and friendly service. Very dog friendly so if you're not a dog person you may be a little upset at someone's dog watching you eat. Seems to be a regular thing as 2 tables of diners had brought their dogs and one even brought the dogs bed with them. Lucky I'm a dog person so didn't mind. Had the WOAP burger entry which was a pulled beef cheek burger. Mine tasted very strongly of cardamom and about half way through, I bit through a whole cardamom pod which overpowered my taste buds and all but overpowered the burger unfortunately. Fries were really yummy though and well seasoned. Very busy thanks to being back in covid level 2 but the service was very slow. 1.5 hours for a burger where the meat was pre done and a desert is really getting a bit too long.
I.
Nice atmosphere and warm on a stormy night. Great food too.
G.
Really nice chill village pub. Friendly staff. Nice wine list and decent food. Great place to unwind after a big day.
C.
Great atmosphere and good food & beers!
M.
My family and I had a lot of pleasure of having our lunchtime there!
There was a lot of free space in Upland Rd to park our car. A ramp is available for the disabled person.
It was quiet (at lunchtime), the service was nice and quick (less than 20min after order), and it was tasty!!!!
A kid menu is available and they participate at the Wellington On A Plate event.
The portions were not too big, but enough for kids and adults.
For sure, we'll come back there, probably to test the tap beers ;)
P.
Service was excellent, friendly, helpful, every need was happily catered for, live entertainment was such a wonderful surprise, menu great and meals enjoyed by all at our table. Looking forward to returning here to dine again. Could not have asked for a better place to be treated out for my Mothers Day late lunch.. Ty Kelburn Village Pub.
T.
Pub quiz is always fun - very comforting and homely vibes and the service is always great. No complaints.
E.
Nice food, good prices, friendly vibe. Feels very local.
J.
It was OK, the lamb shank was quite dry and overcooked, and the fish portions were quite small, and tasted bland. Might be better as a choice for a drink than a meal. Just sayin'
C.
Surprisingly tasty food. Kids were really enjoying the dinner.
It is not in the pictures but pasta was really nice. And of course good beer range for adults.
P.
Solid suburban pub. Their beer and chips are excellent, while the pizza is bad, the burgers mediocre, and the sirloin good. Great onion bhajii was an interesting surprise this visit!
R.
Kelburn Village Pub is a local favourite of mine. The outside area is great in the sunshine, having a beer with mates. Inside is great too when you want some dinner in the warmth. They do a good pizza and a decent steak, chips, I don't know what more you could want from your local village pub! Decent selection of beers too. And not only that, they're dog friendly! We stick the dog under the table with her chew toy to keep her happy and us adults can have dinner and a beer and it's just what you need!
C.
A small village pub with vintage looking appearance however the place is well renovated and comfortable. The place is not very big and can only host around 20 people at a time.
They have a menu with a moderate variety and food is excellent. They run daily deals so you can get some dishes at a discounted price based on the day of the week. Despite that food is priced at a very reasonable point. The ambient is good specifically for a dinner.
This place is a pet friendly place and you can take your pet inside.
C.
The best Thai Beef Salad I've ever had! Great entertainment and good service! Next time I'm getting the Chocolate Mousse all to myself as a spoonful was not enough! It was delicious!
V.
We had a yummy meal and the wine was good too. Loved the pub atmosphere.
M.
Great atmosphere and food. Didn't enjoy the cigarette smoke wafting in while I ate but it is a pub
J.
Cozy inside with bean bags, board games and craft beer. But the real treat is the secret stunning view out back over Aro Valley and Highbury. Nice romantic option, quiet local pub, or friendly brews bar; possibly Wellington's best pub outside the city centre.
R.
Great rotating selection of tap beers. The food is beautiful, paprika fries are my favourite. Staff are wonderful. Outside seating with a view over Aro Valley, spot the kaka. Loyalty card for burgers and pints is an awesome bonus for poor students!
J.
Good beer selection. Nice local.
T.
I love this little village pub. I'm addicted to their tapas menu especially their tacos and polenta fries.
T.
Delicious food, we’ll presented. Menu caterers well to adults and kids without having the usual bland ‘family food’. Great place to take the kids, they have books and comics! Polite, fast service.
U.
First time and not bad. Nice little gem tucked away in Kelburn. Thriving with a "Just finished work on a cold night" atmosphere. Definitely warm and cozy. Had no Hazy though but still a nice place to hang
J.
Great pub atmosphere, food and wine was good, prompt service, easy parking outside.
Nice wine shop next-door.
R.
An friendly little local pub with great food, a good wine list, and interesting beer options on-tap. It can get quite busy and it isn't a huge place so you may have to book a table. It also offers a drinks loyalty card where your tenth drink is on the house.
V.
Excellent value for money, great food one of the best steaks I've had and as the song goes "I've had a few" if you are in Wellington just go there.
M.
An inviting local pub with nice food as a bonus. It used to be family friendly (kids menu and a box of toys) but the new ownership seems to have moved away from that. Last time we went the toys were gone and kid food items were just a word of mouth thing- no printed menu. Ah well. Has a wee beer garden too.
M.
A nice cosy library pub!
Relaxing outdoor courtyard, small library reading room and eatery all in one!
Main drawcard is a good small selection of locally brewee beers and friendly service!
A.
Friendly staff, nice food. The cheese cake was not so good. I strongly recommend the steak night.
A.
Have a wide range of delicacy’s to choose from; the snack menu with nice onion rings and breads to the main and then drinks. Great in the afternoon or for dinner. Quite small so I would advise booking.
I.
This is a nice pub with good food and drink. They had some classic rock music and the staff was prompt with taking and bringing our order. There is an outdoor area as well. All good!
O.
Nice food and friendly bar staff, just the type of break you need on the way home from work 👍
G.
Nice neighborhood joint with quality beers on tap. Super laid back. A bit pricey though, $11.50 NZD for a pint, otherwise it was a nice stop.
A.
Pub quiz hard. Like the outdoor seating area, particularly the one looking over the valley
V.
Chicken burger bland.. would be nice with some salsa or something.. and different options of dip with chips rather than just tomato sauce.. went for my birthday but my partner's fish looked much more appetizing than my meal.. greater selection of deserts to tempt would be great too.. waitress really slow to bring out water..had to ask a few times.. unfortunately wouldn't go again
J.
Quite a cosy little pub. Tapas available but of average quality and the price-to-portion is a little too high. Craft beers on tap, with a good range to chose from which varies, but a poor range of regular beer, none on tap. Expect to pay $11+ for a pint. Bar service is typically good. Pool table for $2; good felt but the cues and ball are of poor quality and there can be space issues for some shots. Most big sports games are shown on the TVs.
C.
It's kind of expensive, but the bartender was really friendly and the staff seemed to be running around, making sure people got what they asked for. The ambiance was really nice, and the food was fine. It was just pricy. I went there from the Cable Car, and it was an easy walk.
Á.
Great pub and restaurant in the heart of Kelburn village. It has a good selection of beers, wines and food and a very friendly staff. Ideal for groups.definitely recommended when you're around in Kelburn village.
R.
A bit too cozy for my liking, friendly staff and good service but the place is too small and might feel claustrophobic. Does have some outdoor seating but some of it is in the way of a pedestrian access to properties!
D.
Nice chilled atmosphere. Live music every Sunday 3-5pm. Happy hours. Pool table. Garden bar. Decent food prices
L.
Nice pub and atmosphere. Though the bartender has no idea how to pour a beer. The hand pumped real ale was underflushed (bubbles too large, poor head); all other beers were poured turbulently, decarbonating the beer leaving no head.
L.
Atmosphere was really nice and loved the big selection of craft beer, our waitress was really nice too, however, the manager yelled and swore at the staff through out the evening. One person in our group ordered the Thai beef salad and said it was overdressed and was too oily, another member didn't even want to eat the blue cheese salad at all and ate chips instead. The blue cheese sauce barely tasted like it had blue cheese it in which was the same for the WOAP burger sauce.
J.
Lovely food great beer and friendly service what more could you want
p.
On 19 July I had a meal with a friend at this pub: the food, service and ambience were all very good and made for an enjoyable evening. However, I had been given a voucher for the meal and this entailed "signing in" on the net with an outfit called Groupon and making the booking. This involved a ridiculously bureaucratic process lasting over 20 minutes. I had expected to dine out, not sit an exam. Whatsmore, since then I have been deluged with promotional emails from Groupon, and even though I've unsubscribed I'm still getting them. The Kelburn Pub deserves friends, but this is not the way to endear anybody.
C.
Like the atmosphere, it was a pub before, now it looks like they want to convert it into a Restaurant. I like the changes but at the same time I miss the pub atmosphere with pool table and watching sports there.Go now to the city for that,....But food it's good !
S.
Nice selection of beers, overall great quality food a bit pricey though compared to similar places. But recomended as you won't get dissapointed.
j.

8PM on a rainy Monday and they are not serving food. They say they don't serve if people aren't coming in, but perhaps people don't come because they may not be able to eat? Self fulfilling. It was empty.....
M.

Lights dimmed at 9.00 with a sense diners should be out of there.
