We’ve come a long way since the dark days of the Bull & Bear (I think I still have my B&B VIP card) and I’m glad to say that Leroy’s does some absolutely top notch fried chicken. A recent visit luckily coincided with 241 burger Monday, which is perfect value. I’m not sure that the size of the burger justifies the size of the standard price tag but I’m pretty sure I’d be happy to fork out the $19 to tackle two Spicy Pollo burgers myself. If you can time it for one of their daily deals, I’d thoroughly recommend a visit.

Came here for the first time lastnight to attend a paintvine. It.was.so.fun. I felt the food was well priced for food and bevvys and the atmosphere was a vibe, fun & chill.

Great bar. Newly refitted to a cool vibe. Food is good but slow to get at lunch times. Selection of beers is good and changes all the time. Staff are friendly and helpful. They have pin ball machines.

Classic, rustic, old-school charm and perfect for the disco-themed party that I was there to entertain. The staff in the upstairs bar all got into the theme and the crowd boogied the night away to my 70s (mostly) dance tunes. Great space for this type of event, and nice to have the option of booth seating, the way bars and nightclubs used to be.

After working in craft beer for 4 years, I found out that I'm coeliac, seriously living a nightmare. Not only did the lovely staff here at Leroy's give me the sympathy that made me feel that much better when uttering the coeliac word, they had the Kereru gluten free ale stocked up (was bomb compared to others I've tried!) and advised chips could be a problem due to cooking in the fryers with flour. I took the risk, as I'm still finding my feet with the diagnosis, bad decision but good to know 🤦🏼♀️ sure next time they'll let me swap for gf corn chips!
All in all, awesome food, great staff and sooo stoked I can still get a dirty, tasty burger and beer at a funky craft bar 😁

I've been here a couple of times and the service and food is wonderful. Whilst perhaps there's not an overwhelming amount of vegetarian options, the stuff they have is great. The atmosphere is top notch too!
H.
Popular pub near Plimmer Steps with great theme nights. Offers a conference room or extra seating on the first floor. Staff are cheerful.

Fire chicken is awesome! Love their burgers! Great atmosphere, cool decor, great people!

Food is very very good. Beer selection is decent but ranges from a house brown reminiscent of the 80s to a selection of better offerings from larger outfits on the periphery of craft beer (lagunitas and tenents on tap). Good fridge of more obscure stuff. Music can be horrific or very cool depending on who's looking after the playlist. 4.5 stars, not really 4 but equally not 5.

Last night I got a burger from Gorilla Burger and it was absolutely disgusting. Went here tonight, booooom. Crispy chicken in burger, used thigh not breast which is absolutely a great choice, bun soft, sauce tasty, well assembled - you leave those muppets at Gorilla Burger in the dust and they specialize in burgers - God help them and God bless you guys! Recommend to all.
E.
Thoroughly enjoyed my Double or Nothing burger yesterday. Lovely staff and overall great environment.
R.
Awesome choice of craft beers and right under our hotel too!!😁
A.
Brilliant service. Thanks guys.

Leroys is, what I call, a wanna be dive bar. But it does so in the best way possible.
Heading up towards Plimmer steps you take a slight right to a dark corner with doors flanked by homemade motorbikes.
The beers are not dive bar prices but they are some of the best beers you will have with a revolving tap lineup that rivals beervana. The vibe is just right for a cheeky mid week beer and the food is excellent. Tacos, popcorn chicken and awesome burgers.
In fact the guilty pleasure burger is my all time favorite burger - if poutine was spicy and a burger it would be this.
Easily the best bar North of Cuba street.
Go check it out!

Fantasic fried chicken and a good range of beers. Great place to come after work
T.
Friendly staff. Bar service good, you need to collect your food from the bar. Quite loud. Good food.
g.
Yummy food and fast service even during a busy lunch period
T.
Had the best experience ever. Fantastic staff, the guy that looked after us was so attentive and friendly and the team were doing a great job even under the pump. Awesome food as always!
K.
Came here for a quick bite to eat and despite the busy nature the staff were attentive and helpful. I orfered a Leroy burger and must admit, the beef was succulent and the sauce was delicious, really had me taste buds going off! Great atmosphere and friendly staff, will be back again :-)
J.
Great atmosphere, good service and beer advice. AWESOME burger. The Lucy’s Got Dragon Breath burger is one of the best burgers I have ever had.
J.
Epic fried chicken ! We ordered the five piece feast which had plenty of chicken.
R.
Awesome choice of craft beers and right under our hotel too!!😁
k.
got a grabone deal- just in the city for a day with a mate, we were so happy to get a seat, as we forgot to book ahead. The burgers were good, chips were nice and crispy the tacos were the dark horse- perfect size and flavour- the right amount of salad to meat ratio was achieved by the chief. The craft beer was great, cannot remember the name of it, as they have large range of craft beer. Staff was really friendly. Also I love that the grabone deal didn't exculde any food or drinks- a nice change from other places that rip you off with the grabone deals.
S.
Just had the lucys got dragon breath entry for the Wellington On a Plate competition...boom!!! Note quite what ya see in the pic but the flavours and the burger Pattie pretty much speak for themselves. Fast, good service and groovy laxed out atmosphere. 5 stars easy as!
J.
Good tap selection with some regulars and some rotating. Burgers are good but the star of the menu is the tacos!
c.
This Dive bar really took a big dive when it changed spin the wheel on Thursday’s to only after 4pm. Pretty much stopped any reason to go for lunch. Oh well will find a new dive.
M.
Hidden away, this venue offers an excellent selection of beers (including a serve your self option) and Mexican food. Great for an after work drink, with live performances on Friday nights. Worth a visit.
T.
Friendly staff. Bar service good, you need to collect your food from the bar. Quite loud. Good food.
T.
In its new incarnation as LeRoy's this bar has come a long way since it's old Bull and Bear days....and the news is positive! My edgier "now" vibe about it. Bar staff were good conversation makers and the Thursday "Spin the wheel" is worth the visit. Good atmosphere for after work drinks.
G.
The menu offerings have certainly been reduced since the reinvention from Hideaway but the selection is more than adequate to meet anyone's needs. Highly recommend both the fish and the pulled pork tacos. Excellent spot, will be back
P.
Spin the Wheel from 4pm on Thursdays is like being part of a live tv gameshow! But you get to win the prizes! Discounts and food, games of chance!
W.
Phenomenal Lucy's got dragon breath burger, so good!
S.
Came here about a month a go when i was on fried chicken çraving. Ordered the 5 piece feast with fries and the tiny slaw, chicken was boneless thigh meat and no skin, just the seasoned coating, i ordered it spicy and expected the seasoning to be mixed in with the coating, but what i got a whole lot of chilli spice powder dusted on top. The spicy chilli powder was a bit unpleasant as there was far too much of it. No skin, and it was boneless was a bit of a let down for me. Service wise, pick up your own order and grab your own beer. Fried chicken search continues.
D.
Great food and atmosphere. Lots of choices on tap as well!
M.
Food is really nice, staff are friendly and helpful. The food takes a long time to come out. Didn't think it was particularly busy but waited 30+ mins.
S.
Amazing staff, great food and a good range of beer, from a few budget options to a well curated selection of craft beers.
K.
Fantastic vibe and great place for a meal. Everyone at the table loved their burgers
A.
I have a special time every time I go here. The burgers are amazing, and they have live lounge style music a couple times a week. Hmm, I want another burger... (the other food is also nice)
S.
Had a great meal. Small mix up with order but they went the extra mile for us. Really enjoyed the evening. See you guys again.
C.
Fantasic fried chicken and a good range of beers. Great place to come after work
j.
Great burgers, fast and efficient kitchen and the staff are friendly
D.
This place is a hidden gem! Great atmosphere and the service is on another level! Well worth heading down there for a drink during the week or a night out on Saturday! The owner is an absolute legend!
T.
Always used to go down to the Bull & Bear after work on a Friday, am very glad to see that it has changed from the previous Hideaway. A bit of Cuba Street down Lambton Quay. Friendly staff and a funky decor. Would recommend for anyone that is down Lambton way and wants to have a bot of time out.
B.
Free live music every Friday, lovely staff and good beer selection. Tough to find a seat when it's busy and a bit pricey though!
C.
The chicken burger was great but the fries were over salted and the pork tacos were cold. It was a quiet Saturday night and the service was average
J.
One of the best places to grab a burger in Wellington! Long time fan of this place, often go here for lunch when I am at work as it's super close.
c.
Taco Tuesday. All their tacos are great. Atmosphere is fantastic. The one suggestion I would make is for them to make their own corn tortilla chips.
O.
"Luugo" and "Sam" were wonderful staff and they made Leroys a delightfully repeatable experience. The food was good.
Y.
Love the 1 for 1 burger promotion on Mondays. Taste awesome with crispy fries.
G.
Good beer. Good people. Even when I trapped my phone in their phone charging machine.
F.
The food was great, an interesting idea for a fusion. The atmosphere was good, though I felt uncomfortable as I was pressured by one of the staff to post a review.
T.
Loud and with high prices even for a bar. Not a terrible place to go for a short drink.
M.
Felt like it was trying for dive bar a little too hard... Although had some interesting beers on tap including some American ones you don't see elsewhere
J.
Awesome bar with epic burgers and chicken. Try the man bear pig burger, you won't regret it!
g.
Yummy food and fast service even during a busy lunch period
b.

A neat place. They serve some tasty tacos, although I'm not too sure on the self service beer idea.
J.
Good bar live music and arcade machines
