My first time at San Fran on Sunday for the Gathering Shadows music event. Vaccine pass scanning was quick and easy, as was the confirmation of ticketing to enter. The venue is roomy with a good range of beers and others drinks. The sound was excellent, loved the lighting and there was a good crowd there. Definitely keen to come back next time I'm in Wellington.

San Fran is great If the band is on then it's pumping. So make sure it's a band you like and you'll have the best night ever ...of your whole life! Nah but its a cool bar ,the best part is the balcony.Drink alcohol looking down on Cuba street.yay.

Nice little bar with a stage where sometimes events happen like live music or comedy. The PA was pretty good, the band I saw was ok. Entrance for the concert was free and the beer prices were fair (5$ for a glass of beer). The stage-room is upstairs, so a have quite a good view from the balcony. They closed pretty early around 23:45, so make plans for activities afterwards.

Nice little hidden upstairs bar. Was here for a concert ...the Iron Maidens. (Awesome).Not your normal run of the Mill bar...its not flashy but its got character. The staff are friendly and I enjoyed my visit.

Best live music location in New Zealand. They don't do live music like San Fran does. Make sure you stop in in your way through Wellies to check out the local line ups each week.

Great live band venue, well set up with just the right amount of space to create an intimate, but not overcrowded atmosphere. Sound and light facilities are excellent. The location on Cuba St is very convenient, right in the heart of Wellington's cultural heart.

One of the best places to enjoy live music in Cuba street, Wellington.They get different bands/gigs performing on each week/weekend.They have their own stage setup for live performances with all the necessary instruments.I got to play there as a lead drummer with one newly formed wellington based band and it was awesome experience. Highly recommended for music lovers.

Great bar to see alt rock bands, well at least that's all I've seen there. Good accoustics, intimate stage and a bit quieter up the back if you don't want to trash your hearing. Beer is pretty decent too.

First time attending a gig let alone the venue. San Fran is subtle on the outside, a blink and you'll miss it entrance. But inside it is quite simply cool. I had a great time and should a band that looks appealing have a gig there in future, I would enjoy another opportunity for a good time in a Great central Wellington sweet spot.

They always put on good stuff here. Club nights, poetry slams, gigs etc. and though I feel this place lacks real character, it works. The nights they put on are fun and quality. The staff are always friendly and responsible, smiling and on the watch for people who are too drunk. Smoking area looks out over Cuba as well which is a nice plus

upstairs venue, medium sized. Have been to various different gigs here and its a great place for live music. Prices at the bar are reasonable, there's an outside balcony for people watching, smoking or both but you don't really want to be out there when its windy. .

I have been to San Fran many times during my exchange semester in wellington. This place is amazing during their Wednesday eyegum gig, where there is live music and eyegum beers for 5$! We have experienced a lot of diversity in the music genre on the stage, from metal to surf rock to indie to cozy electronic music. This was our place to go during Wednesdays and I can highly recommend it!

A low ceiling grimy second floor box in an old building that's seen more nz music history than most. Classic narrow street entrance, corridor, and stairs. Long bar, fair prices, with true alternative staff, and narrow balcony over cuba st. Venue ramps up and down to meet the band and crowd vibe. It's a box, but there's a lot of cool packed into into it every time it opens.

Great for Private Functions! My partner and I hired San Fran for our engagement party, and we were stoked with our experience. Tim and Roisin were communicative and helpful both with pre-event planning, and on the night. Guests commented all night on how convenient the location was, and how well the space worked for the event. We had ~70 guests at any one time, but the space would have worked well for anywhere between 30 - 200 people, I would say. Overall, great experience.

We had our 2015 Christmas Function at San Fran Bathhouse for Pukeko Pictures, specifically the 'Thunderbirds Are Go' film crew. A fantastic christmas party - well organised, good food and , of course, great beer on tap, wine and drinks. The buffet style dinner was perfect - delicious selection of great food. The venue size was just right, with a balcony accessible to the smokers amongst us. Money well spent, made for a happy crew. Many thanks to Tim and his team - great communication in organising the event and fabulous hospitality on the night. Very happy people at our end. Highly recommend for any work or private functions.
