Rooftop bar was good. Nice happy servers who were friendly and bouncy. Chips and onion rings were great. View was nice. Not extremely comfy seating. But the idea is awesome. Was a bit quiet on the Tues night. Probably would be better on a busier evening. The Flatbread with toppings was lovely and fresh. Service was attentive and quick. Liked the atmosphere. Felt relaxed there.

Friendly staff. Lovely set up on the roof with nice decor and a view to the sunset. Skip the cheese board - very cheaply made with poor presentation, could do better making your own from the supermarket. Nice spot for drinks though.

Could be a great place as the rooftop bar is a top venue and it is well designed. Alas, service is the letdown: rude or pitifully slow (varied on different visits), almost all stock was out from their food menu, drinks menu not inspiring.

The staff was surprisingly friendly and the rooftop bar is indeed beautiful. The food is limited depending on the time, but you can get bar snacks all day, such as parmesan fries, pulled pork croquettes, southern fried chicken, haloumi fries, etc. They are actually good, probably better than the average pub food, all at pub prices ($10 to $18). Some of their floral alcoholic slushies are also interesting. They prefer if you create a bar tab, so you can spend more and more, losing sight of your booze ingestion. However, you can just pay while ordering if you prefer. It seems to attract a more "older adults" vibe and not just the youngsters, but no senior citizens either. It is recommended a visit on a nice sunny day so you can hang out outside at the rooftop bar nibbling and drinking away your sorrows.

Friendly atmosphere, quick service and the food is delicious. Very impressed. The decor is cosy with the arborist theme.. Plants, hanging dried flowers from rustic ladders..arty.

Delicious cocktails! 2 for $20 between 4 & 6 was an awesome deal, great way to finish the week. The Arborist did not disappoint with its friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.

Great burgers. Had the lumberjack and REALLY enjoyed it. Service was great, very friendly. Might pay to get there early as they seem to get busy fast round 6:00pm. Definitely a place to visit more than once.

Definitely the rooftop bar of choice during sunny hours, but the Arborist's main bar also holds its own against a strong Wellington scene. More accessible than some of the city's craft beer bars, but you can still satisfy your most hipster friend with beer from Chicago. Interior design is initially very appealling, but don't look too hard. Good amount of room to sit up or slouch on a couch. Plus free venue hire available. Go here for a good bridge between beer tastes.

Arborist offers happy hour between 4-6pm every day. The bar is situated in the Trinity Hotel and you just take the lift to the sixth floor. It does not resemble a typical hotel bar in the slightest and has cosy corners, fairy lights and bunting.

The food is great although they don't have a great range. Downstairs is pretty cozy and warm, but that can mean it gets noisy. They have a garden area on the roof, but it was winter when I went, so didn't try out. Prices are reasonable. Recommended.

The ground floor bar is attached to the Trinity hotel. Pleasant atmosphere usually pretty busy. Music a bit too loud to chat easily though.

It is a stunning establishment ! Great vibe, lovely seating arrangements and my pinot gris was delicious. I love that they host the paint and wine events, they are amazingly fun ! Definitely a great place for drinks or dinner and we were told they are doing catering and other events as well! Highly recommend !

We have been to both the rooftop and the ground floor restaurant - both have friendly staff and good food and drinks. The rooftop is an awesome place of a sunny afternoon and a good choice of seating and shade. Nice choice of wines and cocktails.

There's nothing that screams city Life more than a rooftop bar. Located in the windy capital, arborist is surprisingly cosy. Their outdoor heaters and blankets allow you to brave the winter weather.

What a great little roof top bar. Chilling here on a sunny afternoon is a perfect way to create foot memories. (Especially if you are up for a game of table football, a cold alcoholic beverage and a platter to nibble on).

Have been in the restaurant. Food was good but not special.

Downstairs was nice and the staff were awesome, the bar there is really well done, heading upstairs was a different story though. The rooftop is beautiful! could do with some more shaded spots but thats up to you to bring protection. but the staff were useless. It was some sort of happy hour deal on aperol spritz, some other spritz cocktail and the two frozen cocktails. They were out of the second spritz and both frozen cocktails (baring in mind the happy hour was from 4-6 and it was 4:15), I then had to tell the guy how to make an aperol spritz after he asked two other staff members who all claimed to be on their first shift! Beats me. It was starting to get busy though so who knows how the rest of their shift panned out but it didnt start well... more training and this place would be a hot spot!!!!

Under staffed and training new staff. She did well over all for her first day. Some patrons were still waiting to be served. We waited for over 30mins to be served. And then waited another 30 to get a second drink which we just ended up leaving. Top bar wasnt any different. Only 1 person up there to serve. Hopefully they get themselves sorted..may come back again. Will see

Lovely atmosphere for dinner and drinks. Good selection and price range of food. Tasty vegetarian dishes too. We were seated underneath a speaker and the music was a little loud at times.

Arborist came recommended by a local, when I visited Wellington and wanted an after work drink. The rooftop bar was nice, with some tall cushioned tables, a view of the hills and a reasonably stocked bar. Although a couple of the happy hour cocktails were not available, the Old Fashioned (bourbon base) was nicely presented and went down well. The barmen were nice and friendly and willing to try making a drink to order for a patron. It was a Tuesday afternoon, so pretty quiet, but started filling up after 6pm. Although a little windy and cloudy (not unusual) the rooftop bar feels like the kind of place you'd go with a friend or colleague for one after work. For the exercise, take the stairs up!

Went for Sunday brunch. Food was excellent, staff friendly, atmosphere welcoming. Reasonable pricing for food and drink.

Absolutely gorgeous rooftop bar! Turns out there is one thing that tops Wellington on a good day, and it's Wellington from a rooftop bar 💖 Great food, very reasonably priced. Friendly staff, fast service. Bar gets a bit busy during happy hour but the deals are worth the wait. Love the atmosphere and can't wait to come back!

Came here for a friends birthday. We had a special room. Drinks were way to pricey! But the atmosphere was really nice. Briefly went up to the rooftop part and I am def keen to go back there sometime and explore there some more. There are lots of parts to this place making you want to go exploring and return.

Ambient is cool, but food is below average and took 40 min. Don't even bother getting dessert.

Nice looking decor with the log bar, fishtank and hanging dried flowers. Good range of menu, service can be a little slow but staff are friendly and accommodating. Cool roof top area too but you can sit down on the ground floor too.

Wonderful service. Had the ceviche and it was on point! A wonderful balance of flavor against the citrus to make this the most palette pleasing ceviche I've ever had the pleasure to eat. The atmosphere is amazing and quite warm and pleasing to the eye. The restaurant had a wonderful presence of mind. Cozy, comfortable, and delicious.

Enjoyed lunch and drinks in their roof top bar. Had a great time and food was good. As it was a sunny day my group had great time, used their dun hats and enjoyed ourselves. Service staff were young and more interested in talking to each other and other off duty staff then service, other then this had a great afternoon.

Just had a hens cocktail making session here and were blown away by the service from the very beginning. From the booking service via email, adjusting out reserved time to accomadate the party to an hour later to making our non- alcoholic drinkers feel included in the festivities.... What an awesome experience! Highly recommend this place for any event or just a bite to eat as the food was amazing too... Special mention to Harry, who helped us make our cocktails, you were great!

The rooftop bar is amazing in good weather (it's up an elevator in the neighboring hotel): blankets, comfy seats, and good sun exposure. The downstairs is cozy and relaxed. Good alcohol selection and some tasty food. Certainly worth checking out! Good place for a date or catch-up with friends.

The Arborist is fantastic spot for a bite or beverage at anytime of the day with a group, as a couple, a few or solo. The food menu is full of fabulous options from tasty burgers to tapas style bites. The drinks menu is extensive, offering everything from crafted cocktails to your usual beers, wines and non-alcoholic drinks. The staff are attentive, helpful and friendly. The decor is wood inspired, generating a natural and relaxed ambiance. Very highly recommended!

With dark, sultry interior and a lively rooftop, this bar/restaurant is great for all occasions. Drinks are good and food is divine. If you're wanting a fun experience in a drink, order the Fully Loaded Bloody Mary - comes with a little nibble so don't order when full already!

This place is lovely and the rooftop is excellent. The vibe is on point both up and downstairs with downstairs being cozy and the rooftop bar ticking all the boxes. It's the kind of place to have a drink and a chat, with the pricing being pretty on par with the rest of Wellington.

Awesome bar, really nice decor which gives it heaps of character. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Their food is delicious, lots of variety, catering to all dietary requirements. There's a good choice of wines & they have local beers from Garage Project & Black Dog. Cool rooftop bar, perfect for a few drinks with friends.

In the downstairs part for dinner the spicy fried chicken burger with jalapenos was the best burger I've ever had. The parfait desserts were a bit disappointing. But the rooftop bar had kitschy decor and blankets making it a little more cozy than the other rooftop bars in town.

Awesome restaurant, with some of the best coffee and brunch food in Wellington. The lumberjack breakfast was hands down a winner. Staff were really friendly and helpful and the rooftop bar is really cool highly recommend going up on a good day and checking it out.

We both had the lumbar Jack burger and fries today..I felt it was over priced for the size and quality of the Burger. The roof top bar and sunny calm Wellington made it enjoyable.wouldnt go back for the burgers

The perfect place for lunch on a beautiful day. Amazing food considering it's just cooked by some dude on a bbq, super cool decor, so many chairs and beanbags, lots of space for everyone. They also supply sunscreen and sunhats which is a life saver on a really hot day and blankets for when it gets a bit chilly. Definitely will be going back.

Have you ever had a drink next to the roof of a church tower? This is your opportunity. Happy hour, Cool vibe, straw sunhats, good sound and fresh air. They also do lunch, usually a bit of a wait for the food but the flat bread is nice

A refreshing and delicious menu with great service, and the drinks to match! I love the arborist rooftop on the sunny day. One of Wellington's finest.

Lovely atmosphere. However, we had the jug of Sangria between two. Must have only been a single drop of Pinot noir in the disappointing beverage as we did not feel a single wave of alcohol induced tomfoolery. If you want a jug of sparkly juice this place is for you.

Lovely rooftop bar on a sunny day, but otherwise, supremely average. Average beer, average cocktails, average service and food, great rooftop. Note: rooftop not wheelchair accessible The bar staff had good alcohol knowledge and answered all my questions, but the cocktails were all on the sweet and fruity side. I like complexity and something different in my cocktails. I settled on a Blackcurrant Bramble. It was nothing special and so much crushed ice it was undrinkable with a straw and I spilled it twice trying to drink it without. I also ordered onion rings (vo). I was then told there was no vegan option because it was a tempora batter and that the VO was for vegetarian option. Work that one out. $25 for gin, ice, and chips

Great rooftop bar where you can wait and have a drink in the sun until your table is ready, and then a nice atmosphere and super nice staff downstairs. I'm not always a fan of tapas-style menus (bigger single dishes are available as well, eg burgers), but it was reasonably priced and the food was really good. The staff made a mistake with our order, but they realised, apologised, replaced the dish, and didn't charge us for it, before we even complained or said anything about it. They turned what could have been (and at other places has been) a very uncomfortable situation and a bad experience into a definite 5 star experience.

Loved this place. They have lots of gf and df options, the food is delicious. I tried the halloumi chips w/ chilli yoghurt. The ambiance is good. I recommend to book as they can be quite busy. 5 stars! And thanks to all the staff for the kind attention.

Two completely different and epic spaces in one super central location. The downstairs restaurant is really cosy and cute with all the wooden features and my niece loves the fish tank. The upstairs bar is vibrant with plants and a real backyard party vibe. The food in both places is to die for from breakfast to dinner, literally everything on the menu is amazing. But try the Halloumi chips and the jerk chicken... oh and the popcorn cauliflower. Oh my god. Drinks specials too like the alcoholic slushies on the roof and the morning Mimosa. Anyway what I'm saying is that I loved it and so will you.

Beautiful cosy place, took my partner up there on our holiday and sat on the comfy seats wrapped up in a blanket, having a delicious beer and listening to some Jack Johnson under the stars and fairy lights with outdoor heaters to keep us all cosy! It was our best night out on the holiday in Wellington so thanks so much!!

Been here a couple of times, friendly staff nice little outside area downstairs, although i havent been to the rooftop area im sure its a pretty nice place :) haven't tried out everything on the menu to give a full review, but their chips were very tasty.

Great location on a sunny day! Limited drinks on tap, but the location and atmosphere well makes up for that. Blankets available for when it's a bit windy, and hats available to protect from the sun!

Have had a few good meals at the Arborist and always enjoyed the atmosphere here. On the quieter side and the space works really well considering what it used to be like. Plenty of options for group bookings.

Went on wellington day so might be different on another day but was out of lots of food and overcharging by accident beautiful view and nice place to go just for one drink and a nice time

#burgerwelly this was burger#2 for me and a great mix of meals. A Poutine and Burger in one! This had a bit of salt and the beer match was like a Tequila chaser. An interest that needs to be explored to give your perspective on a mixed meal and tequila style beer flavour.

Super tasty lunch bowl. Reasonable prices too. Service was a little slow but otherwise a great lunch choice. Would recommend.

Wellington's best rooftop bar, however that wasn't exactly difficult. There can sometimes be a long wait to get upstairs. The food and nibbles which they do are top notch!

We went here on a busy Saturday. The roof was packed, but the doorman kindly came and let us know that there was some room, no doubt above and beyond his call - really appreciated it. Seven of us ended up having dinner down stairs a bit later; most shared a massive amount of food and some got their own meals... four burgers (chicken, beef, vege, spicy chicken), a vege sandwich, onion rings, prawns, beetroot, squash, mashed PnG, pork, beef, jerk chicken... other stuff.. and s'mores and a doughnut sandwich to end (accompanied by many beers, wines and bloody marys). The kitchen did forget one of the sandwiches but the waitress was fantastic, sorted it in <10 mins, didn't charge us for the sandwich and comp'd us a drink... All of the food was great, the service was splendid and the cost acceptable. We will definitely be back!

The Arborist is my go to for drinks in Wellington, the staff are amazing, the food is excellent (especially the haloumi fries and the vege burger!), and the rooftop bar is super special. Plus they have $5 mimosas on the weekend!

Might be a little hard to find but on a good day with fine weather it's fantastic. Service here is personable, responsive and friendly.

Great bar. My only suggestion would be that a wider range of kombucha would be great.

Good bar, unlike some other Rooftop places it has its own kitchen, so food is warm when it arrives!

Really good atmosphere lots of heaters and bkankets +++

Although the rooftop bar is only occasionally opened (not in winter) it is a very nice bar with good beer on tap.

Great staff, service and food. On your trip just avoid Whanganui and head straight to the Trinity Hotel, Willis St. and dine at the Arborist.

The main meals are small so you must order the sides, but the food is delicious. Tied most of the menu and nothing disappointed.

Why is it called the arborist? Every plant is fake, call it the fake arborist, kidding, not kidding. Too much fries not enough burger.
