J.Awesome selection of beers. Staff were quick to take our order and even recommended us some other beers to try on our second round. We were very impressed with the service considering it was a busy Friday night.
w.Tidy and friendly vibes. Great selection of beers but I don't like beers and there was only one cider to choose from. Recommend if you like beer, but not if you looking for cider. Obviously has a decent selection of spirits if you want to skip all the way there 👍
N.Awesome range of beers. The table service makes tasters unavailable. The negative of this visit was that the person who served us was unhelpful and seemed to be in a bad mood (unusual as he is normally lovely)

V.If you're looking for great food, honestly not a fantastic place to go to. If, however, what you're after is great beer, Malthouse consistently has one of the best tap lineups in town, pretty much always.
Don't think I've ever been to Malthouse and not found 2 or 3 beers I was very happy with. Great option, well worth a visit (or several)

J.Enjoy the latest craft beer at this cute pub in Central Wellington. If craft beer is your thing, they have an amazing range to suit all palletes. Taking part in the Wellington Hopstock 2021, Sawmill's specially made Hazy IPA is well worth a try. I would recommend a visit and you will be well served by the very informative bar person. Come check them out 👍🍻
D.Great place to go if you're looking to try a bunch of beers and figure out what you like! The staff are very nice and helpful during the tasting process (which is free!) and take your feedback into account when choosing the next beer.
Nice place to start the night or wind down with a few board games (chess, jenga, battleship, connect four) or books available in the corner.
K.I wasn't very impressed with the beer list or service. It's a good beginners place to start, but there wasn't too much interesting on the menu. I finally found something I wanted to drink and the staff didn't know what it was and weren't very friendly about it. I was pretty bummed because it was a beer from back home. I understand the beer list changes and it's difficult to keep up with taplists, but still disappointing. I watched interactions after I left the bar and other customers got a lot better service than me. Not sure what I did? I ended up with a disappointing contract brew because I wasn't familiar with the label.
G.I was starting to worry I wouldn't get to any of my mapped craftbeer bars to visit in Wellington during these empty city summer holiday weeks, but then the Malthouse came to deliver. First 2 songs I hear is my favourite Revolution 1 track by the Beatles and then Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen? Yes. I didn't think they did food too, but they do (albeit limited). Great unique draft selections with an even better bottle selection.
J.Great beer selection and atmosphere on a Friday night but to talk to anyone you have to SHOUT over top of the music. Shut up and drink more I guess lol.
J.We went there for a beer and the waiter looked like he didn’t want to be there. We got the menu and he expected us to know beer prices and sizes and wasn’t quiet helpful either when we asked him some questions about the menu. Could have been such a good experience if staff had put some effort to make us feel welcomed.

Of course it's more expensive than an average bar but definitely the right place to go if you want to try some great local brews.

J.Always a great place to go for a drink or 5. This is a great place to try different beers from different countries and different varieties of beer. The team behind the bar are accommodating and will allow you to sample different tap beers (when not busy). But the best thing to do is ask for their recommendation based on a style of beer that you enjoy.

I chatted flavors and tried all sorts of stuff with the patient, friendly, knowledgeable, professional staff for over and hour.
Can't rate it enough. If you don't find a favourite pint in here, you probably don't like beer.
S.Have loved the Malthouse since moving here! Always a great rotating tap list of local and national craft beers, as well as literally hundreds of bottles on offer. They also frequently host special events and takeovers with themed lineups, so it’s cool to come by every few weeks. Great stop for some post-work or after dinner drinks! Really can’t go wrong and will find something for everyone to drink.
Heads up that it can get very crowded during one-off events or weekends depending on the time (it’s right on the nightlife strip after all). Not gonna count them being popular against them though! And the staff does their best to accommodate even when at full capacity.

L.Fantastic, pumping small place, best beer selection in welly, probably one of the better bars in the world, friendly smokers section out front, cozy warm place inside. Nothing amazing about the place just ticks the right boxes for what a bar should be. The staff are fantastic aswell, not the typical attitude problem craft beer wankers other places attract.
A.Great selection of beers, but as I've been living in Belgium for about 9 years I was sad to see such a narrow range of beers, but this is of course what the local audience wants. Some of the local craft beers are delicious, and the staff are not only really friendly but amazingly knowledgeable about their stock. If you like beer, I'd recommend this as this was recommended to us!
A.Staff were really friendly, they have an amazing selection on beer, Tennents being one which is a scottisb lager i drank for yesrs back home and theyre ment to getting it on tap in the next few month, really looking forward to that.

D.Great place for craft beers. They have one of the best selections in Wellington and the staff is cool bunch of beer geeks to help you find the tastiest beers for your pallet. Definitely would pop in for a pint if I were you!

V.Amazing range of craft beers on tap (20+ ales, stouts, sours and more) as well as bottled beers. The atmosphere can feel a bit plain, which is actually great if you're looking to escape the Courtney place bustle, and just unwind over some good craft.
B.The malthouse is a true original. Roughly two million tap beers, friendly staff, and you can get chips with gravy. I'm only giving it five stars because I can't give it fourteen.

Nz should follow south Australia's policy to ban all smoking within 5 meters of the entrance to a bar cafe or restaurant. Narrow and long, the areas for watching sport are not optimal. Lacks charm. Go there for the excellent range of beer and being in Courtenay place the liveliest night life street in New Zealand

H.The best craft beer selection combined with staff knowledge in Wellington beyond a shadow of a doubt. If you love beer and aren't practically haunting the place, I'd venture to say you need to have a good hard ponder over your life choices. They do have more than beer but I personally find myself blinded by hoppy glory.
