This bar is most definitely one of my favorites in the city, from the awesome guys on the door, the bar staff, kitchen staff and the blessed cleaner who keeps this place looking great, to the music and everything in-between this wee gem is a place to hang for a great night out. Great for a game of pool, or If u prefer a wee jam on the gaming machines. Great location, plenty of parking. Note they are also open till the wee small hours for the diehard party peeps.

great deals all days of the week. love the 2 for 1 from 5-7pm everyday. some staff much more attentive than others but i appreciate its hard with table service only at red light :) food is classic pub food, not crazy good but not bad. will defs be back for the quiz night again

I've been to the residence many times over the years - a tip on Tuesday was actually pretty good (Yes I was surprised) - the burgers were both awesome, and 2 for 1 - how can you go wrong. Good happy hour 5-7 and the whole area is tidy, light and comfortable. 2 pool tables, a few booths - its looking pretty good.

Have been going here for the pub quiz each Wednesday for last 6 months. Happy Hour of 2 for 1 drinks from 5 till 7 for a selection of beers and wine. Have sampled a few of the cocktails as well which were excellent. Good food menu with a great range of tasty burgers, and the nachos and fried chicken bites also very good.

Bar staff are great and the bouncer working Tuesday night was an absolute legend. Two creepy guys were harassing a girl on the dance floor and she left very upset followed by them making horrible comments about some of the girls with me. We let the bouncer know and he handled it in an empathetic and professional manner making the whole experience a lot better. Cheers!

Super friendly staff here which actually really helped liven the already great atmosphere here. I would definitely recommend this place as a nice place to start your evening drinks as it's not too rowdy and there is a great choice of drinks here. The locations is always pretty damn good as it's only a stone throw away from some of the other bars and clubs around the area.

Cheap beer and a couple pool tables, this bar is a sports fan dream. Booths have a good view of the game and long table for group dinners or celebrations. Bartenders are pretty good at making cocktails and will provide the occasional free coke if your the sober driver. Pub quizzes here once a week and they usually have some good prizes

Residence burger gets a 3/5, the chicken one was slightly better but still kind of average, very similar to boom burger buns, not something I'd want to eat more than once. The rest of the experience is good here.

One of the best places in Wellington to meet the friends and drink. The beer is cheap, the stuff are very friendly and the music is good. I've been there sometimes and always was funny. It is a perfect place for starting the night before go dancing.

So average. I know this is some people's home-away-from-home on Courtney Place. It's cheap and big and has all the stuff you need: jugs, wine, spirits, pool, pub quiz etc. But my god it's got no character. Location and selection are top notch, staff are nice enough, but it's just a bit of a lame duck as far as "cool" goes. Wouldn't choose this place if asked.

Came here for early dinner. The staff were friendly and attentive. The waitress asked me fot my credit card after i made my order at our table. She said its going to get very busy (it was wednesday evening) and they just wanted to be safe. I was waiting for it to be returned as but she never came back. So i went to her and asked for my card back. I told her i dont leave my card credit card with someone - out my sight. She explained that its the pub's policy, which i found rather weird. First place in wellington to experience this. So im not impressed at all. She finally gave it back to me. The food was ok.
