The only available accommodation we could find last minute on Waitangi weekend. To be honest, we would never go for this type of accommodation if not for last minute everywhere else all booked up. First impressions of this place is that it's a rather old, beat up place with some kind of sleazy bar attached to it. Upon entering the premise, it wasn't ad bad as what we expect. The room, yes its slightly old but neat, clean and tidy. The host knowing that we have a toddler who will be sleeping on the sofa came bringing us more linens to cover the sofa and pillow for kids as well as extra blanket for my kiddo. Bed was comfortable on my side but not so on my husband's side which he said it's too soft for him and he is the one who will be doing all the driving the next day. For dinner we tried the food at the bar. Standard bar food. And there was live music. Singer was good and has a good voice luckily as our room is right next to the bar. Sound proofing of the room isn't that great given it's an old building. But we were too tired and the singing doesn't really bother us. Overall we had a good overnight stay.

Lovely hosts that went beyond their way to find the best room for us. Simple facilities but calm and with all we needed. Very central if you want to visit beaches around Northland. Totally worth it!

Bar man extremely helpful, told me the burger I wanted to order would be too big. So ordered the next one down which although was big I managed to finish. My friend had the John Dory. The food was very tasty and good value for money. The atmosphere was good and the locals friendly. Would thoroughly recommend.

This is a very friendly Pub to visit and everyone is made to feel most welcome. The "Locals' chat away with you and there is always a good sense of humour around, like most parts of the Far North. It has a touch of 'real' New Zealand as we used to be about 40 or 50 years ago. The food on offer is not 'Haut cuisine' but it is good and wholesome and served with a smile! Worth calling in.

Very friendly staff. Current owner gave us some history about the place and showed me photos of my grandfather (owner until 1989 or so). Lovely old building which is obviously loved and cared for.

We are parked up at the back of the Hotel in our Motorhome with free access to WiFi toilet and shower. The meals we were served was top notch for a Bar meal only surpassed by the extremely excellent service. Thoroughly recommended as a stop off point if you are going up to Cape Reinga

Tiz and Jenny put on Roast Lamb & Pork spit with roast potatoes and kumeras and salads. Beautifully cooked meal and more than enough for Xmas party guest's. Good to see the inside of building getting a make over and being restored to former glory in Andy Rae days. Friendly staff invited us back again to sample their pub menu
