My katsu tacos were amazing, and our chips tasted delicious too! I definitely enjoyed my meal. However, the experience could've been so much better. Staffs were faultless and were all kind. But the drinks tasted a little different, almost having a metallic taste in them. The water was a little dirty too, with all those stuffs floating around. My mates ordered steaks and didn't enjoy it .. to each their own, maybe. The restaurant was kind of difficult to locate , but it came with a nice view specially for summer so that made it a li'l better.

Perfect setting with grass area and huge rock for kids to play on while you eat. Food was delicious and very well presented. We sat outside but unfortunately both heaters were out of gas. Blankets were available at each table which was a lovely touch to sum up the overall great experience.

Update after two and a half years: came again with my parents. Awesome as always and this time we ordered chargrilled steak again and also tacos. My parents enjoyed the food too. The steak is a little bit overcooked, but that might be the nature of chargrilling. This is the first time I try chargrilled steak. Really different from pan fried ones, and I like it.

Loved dinner here. Service was great food was cooked to perfection. I had the porterhouse steak and my wife had the pork belly and roasted duck Bao. We finished off with the Apple and rhubarb crumble which was the perfect mix of sweet and sour. Will be back one day.

We loved the food at Bendix Stables. We couldn't decide which of the three dishes we ordered we liked best. The flavours were so original, delicate and interesting. Tasty, flavourful, beautifully presented. Topped off with a lovely glass of Otago pinot noir and an excellent cappacino. We were celebrating a hard days work and delighted to have chosen this restaurant which we have visited a number of times over the years.

We had the cheeseburger and pork belly burger. I would give the cheeseburger 3/5, lettuce wasn’t needed, bacon could of been crisper, and the pork belly was given 5/5. Nice place to sit inside out of the rain. Service was friendly and cheery and the food came out quickly despite the 45mins delay warning. Would come back, and maybe try another dish.

We stopped off here for a delicious lunch. Really friendly staff. When it started to rain, we escaped inside and had a brilliant spot looking out. Would definitely recommend a visit here if you’re in the area.

We decided to have lunch here because everywhere else was packed. We love the ambiance inside but the let down was the service and the food. The burger was disappointing. The buns was rock hard. You have to deconstruct the burger in order to eat it. The duck bao bun was also disappointing as it was too salty and overpowering. We waited 45 mins for our food to arrive. The pork belly bites was okay but over all experience was 5/10.

Love the quite corner that the restaurant is sitting st. The fooD is amazing and also the coffee.

Really great, exceptional food, lovely & helpful staff. Get here at opening to avoid a wait for food as very popular but it’s worth waiting for and is right next to the Buckingham Green so excellent space for the kids to play. We had the cheeseburgers, popcorn chicken, chicken tacos & chips all excellent! Beautiful spot and atmosphere highly recommend.

We went to the Stables on Valentine's night. We ordered the plate of cold meats, which was very good. To drink, we ordered a caipirinha, which is a Brazilian cocktail. I'm Brazilian and the ingredients used were not the same as a traditional caipirinha, so the drink did not have the similar taste. If you want to make the original caipirinha, I'll be happy to help :)

After a 20 km hike we've chosen one of the big plates on the menu: the curry. Very tasty but we expected something twice as big. I'm only 63 kgs but I could have eaten 2 of these "large" plates. Good beer but the live was a little annoying. Very nice terrace at a (normally) quiet spot.

We went here on a very busy Friday night & although they were understaffed, the staff that were on did an excellent job under the pressure. The service was friendly & the food was incredible. Really enjoyed the korean chicken bites & the fish & chips were also delicious with a great portion size. I felt bad for the staff as you could tell they were under a fair bit of stress with how busy it was but they handled everything really well considering.

The front of the garden is so beautiful on a sunny day. Great atmosphere. Prices are reasonable. I do think the food is a bit too sugary. We had the Bao, pork belly and the Tacos.

We dined in for lunch and ordered a variety of small plates, Camembert and squid were our favourites. I ordered a few half pints which was good to try various beers on tap. Great service and value for money. Highly recommend.

Popped in on a quiet-ish weekend in May, having spied spare tables from the Main Street. Pleasant outdoor area by a little green. Staff made sure the heater was turned up and close. Mixed drinks came out fast and well made, wine list was decent at a fair price. The lunch was exceptional. We went for the “grill” option, 2 x chicken. Took a while to arrive, but worth the wait... the meat perfectly roasted, insanely buttery mash, glorious herbed butter and rich pepper sauces. And the servings were HUGE... perfect fodder if you’ve just hiked up and down a mountain. We rolled out full and happy. Big hearty meal at a very fair price. Would return.

The food is great, and the wine as well. I ordered the ribeye with demi glace, and didn't even touch the sauce, as the steak was tasty enough without it. I'm only giving it 4-stars because table service would be more suitable for this sort of place. The menu is too large for their fast-casual approach of "order first + then go sit". Epic lunch, definitely memorable. Sat outside in the sun with a nice view, waiter was a character, but perfectly attentive, not in your face, but hit all the marks for an enjoyable meal. there was an issue with the order where the printer failed, so our meals got delayed, but things happen, and the important thing is the waiter owned it, and made good by giving us a little taste and spiel of a yet-to-be released local wine they had on-hand while we waited. My chicken sandwich was good... but my partners fish chips and mushy peas was INSANE good, crispy batter, perfectly cooked fish, well seasoned peas and a killer curry aioli. And thanks to the impromptu tasting, our next stop was that local winery, Wet Jacket, where we walked out with a load of wine and cheese that was well matched!

Yummy food and a very nice location. It would have been five stars but the chicken sandwich while delicious was not well thought out. It was an open face sandwich and therefore could not been picked up and the bread made it very difficult to cut through. My wife lamb and gnocchi was delicious.

The meal was good but the lack of masks worn by any of the front of house team and pretty much any customer means that I cannot recommend coming here. If they are ignoring requirements to wear masks then what other rules are they ignoring?

We went here for a special birthday dinner. I especially loved the atmosphere and the friendly staff. The good food was great too especially the entrees of "seafood chowder" and "calamari". There was great selection of wine. We chose the Mt Difficulty Pinot Noir. The staff were pleasant and the service great. Because of the over-all very good status we have to give it an excellent for this type of restaurant. We will be coming again.

It was a cold morning at 11am, no sun at restaurant as yet, so we sat inside..the heaters weren't turned on outside, (not sure if they did or not) The Shataki Mushrooms were ok, in croquette style. The corn fritters were very tasty & the Pork Rib Bgr looked nice. We were going for breakfast/brunch, nothing very breakfasty..hence the corn fritters but was good service n reasonably priced.

My 3rd time at Arrowtown, and I am so delighted to dine in Bendix Stables for lunch today! We have 8 ppl including 3 kids, and we all found their food super delicious! Staff are very friendly despite this is covid time. We ordered many small plates to share and they are ALL super yummy! Strongly recommend the popcorn chicken (juicy and tender inside and light & crispy outside), pork belly is a must try! Squid, prawn, and taco are all great! Even the garlic bread is far beyond our expectation. Kids all loved their spaghetti too! 😆

Beautiful setting next to a gorgeous grassed area. The food was yummy and almost (but not quite) spectacular. Service was great and the prices were pretty good (cocktails were very well priced though). Overall, I would recommend it for a pretty great night.

There are two things I enjoyed so far traveling around Queenstown. And having a devine meal in this restaurant was one of it. The combination of the ingredients used were really creative and it complimented each other. It was so nice that I forgot to take a photo of my meal I had. I had roast pork belly lunch by the way

We came here on a recommendation, and we left with a booking to come again the next night. Wine is amazing (try the local Otago Summerhouse wine). The service all round is excellent, very comfy and cosy atmosphere with delicious food (we tried the pie and pasta both and loved them!) also, try and guess what animal the pelts came from... i said goat, my wife said a husky or deer. Not 100% sure.

Had dinner last night for the first time. Its 'fine dinning'and our meals came out beautifully presented!. Unfortunately we will never rexommend this locatuon to anyone, nor go back. The meals were over $35 on average each, very small and not at all filling. I orded the scotch fillet... Came out about the size of a kiwi fruit!. Building and atmosphere was brilliant, anf the service was impecable!.

Smashed avo was awesome ! Great location just on the park, though there was a strange sulfur smell that kept wafting over which wasn’t so nice. Toilets were a bit dirty - no soap which was strange. Service was friendly though, so that along w the good food means id prob come back.

Mar 27, 2011 We are from Australia and we had our wedding reception at the Stables Restaurant, Arrowtown on the 12th March 2011 and I could not praise the staff/service/food high enough. We had a wedding party of 27 and each and every one of our guests LOVED the food (the food was "WOW" and absolutely beautiful) and the service was fantastic. For a wedding reception we could not have asked for anything more. A must visit to Stables Restaurant if you are in Arrowtown.
