Good thing we reserved table earlier. Place was packed but service was good. Food was tasty and sumptuous. Would recommend to friends to try.

The staff, the food, service are all superb. The duty manager is so customer- friendly. A very good place to visit with kids too, staff are very patient. Mostly end up ordering the fish of the day and have never been disappointed. Would highly recommend it.

The best Italian restaurant in Auckland. Foods are awesome we enjoyed a lot and also really appreciate the service. All staff members are polite and have a nice smile on their face. Specially the lady waitress. Had a freshly made wood fired pizza also . Definitely going back again. Thank you team

Great Italian food, attentive service and pleasant place to have dinner! My favorite is the seafood pasta, the pasta was hand made and irreplaceable! Everyone loves the gelato and coffee tasted great!! Very busy restaurant on Sat from 5pm. Remember to make booking before you go! Will definitely visit again :D

We have been here a number of times and it seems as though every time it gets better! Wonderful service and the most outstanding authentic Italian food, with such great variety. Would highly recommend, will be so worth it.

The Costata di Manzo (500gm Prime NZ Angus Rib Eye) was really good and highly recommended. The King Prawns of Gamberoni were undercooked. The pizza guy was just quite cool without any smile, no wonder the pizza were salty and pricy. Tiramisù is a must have. The manager was really friendly and attentive.

Lovely authentic Italian atmosphere with beautiful murals on the walls. Food is always to die for; I’ve been coming here sporadically for over 5 years and have never had a dish that doesn’t make me want to personally thank the chef. The pastas are always creamy, well-portioned and absolutely delicious. We will keep coming over and over again.

Had dinner here the other night and it was absolutely amazing. The food and service were both excellent. The pizza we had was the without a doubt the best we've ever had, and the steaks were perfectly cooked. We'll definitely be back for dinner again.

Well established restaurant in Takapuna while others have been and gone. Awesome tatsy authentic Italian food. Good serving size and given its high quality, the above-average price is well deserved. Plenty parking out in front it pay and display park next door. Lots of choices from the menu and even kids menu selections are very tasty. Friendly staff and very professional and fast. One of our favourite places on the Shore. Reservation recommended.

Atmosphere was a bit busy however understandable for Valentine's day. So glad I booked however because if I didn't I wouldn't have tasted the most amazing meals I've had in a long time. The tortellini and sauce was a brilliant combination. The lasagne wasn't too tomatoey and just melted in your mouth. Portion was great for the prices you pay. Staff were professional and friendly.

We went to Al Forno for some takeaways last night. The staff showed true hospitality and the food was amazing! Ordered a mean lasagna and pizza funghi. We'll definitely be in again. Loved the desserts too. Thanks Dan!

This place is outrageously good. It’s so warmly lit, cozily seated and invitingly aromatic that just being here and conversing in the quiet murmur of the room is lovely. Service is super prompt and friendly, with the wonderful owner Tony swanning around and making you feel like an old friend. Then the food shows up and you get quiet, because you can’t help but stop everything else and simply appreciate the deliciousness. And oh man the desserts…just come here and eat. You’ll be back!

I've been to this cosy, intimate Italian restaurant a few times now. Each time I've been well satisfied with the delicious food that I've gotten. The atmosphere here is very relaxing and warming (especially on a cold night) and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The prices are a bit more than other, similar restaurants, but if you want to treat yourself, it's definitely worth it.

The best Italian food in NZ. I love that the meat is free range. My favourite pasta is the Penne Pollo and the Burrata is also great. YUMM

After walking past this restaurant a few times, the pizza oven had always intrigued us and were keen to visit, especially after having Pizza from Napoli, Rome and Florence with a traditional oven. The images show two delightfully created pizzas, a bit taken a back with the amount of chicken skin on the pollo pizza, but overall was pleased with the standard and quality. Of course, as always, too much to handle in one seat, so a nice snack for later. Fair shout for the experience.

Friendly and welcoming staff and we will be going back for more pizza. It gets very busy very quickly so make a booking or you might not get in. My only negative would be that it gets noisy when it's full but that's just because everyone is having a good time.

We came to dine 1st May. Absolutely amazing. Service, everything. The food was to die for and my veal was so tender and my partners steak to perfection. The best Italian food we have ever had so left very content. Keep up the gr8 work. We'll be back with our friends & family....

Had an Uber eats problem and called them up the guy who talked to me on the phone was an absolute good cunt👍🏽 The man deserves a raise

The food is really good I had a Carne e Amore (meat lovers) pizza, which was really nice, after which I had an ice cream with an expresso shot, which was a really good combination in my opinion. It's an ideal place for dates or even just for a normal dinner. The staff in there is really nice and welcoming (great time to practice Italian). I do recommend going either on a Sunday or a public holiday as the parking near by will be free (according to the AT sign).

A nice Italian restaurant with good choices of pasta dishes. Ordered a clam spaghetti and prawn linguine and both are delicious. Kids menu also available. Kids ordered a Hawaiian pizza and spaghetti bolognese and very tasty.A wide range of stone stove baked pizzas. The best of all is their yummy tiramisu. Great dessert to finish off for a wonderful evening.

Food was nice, and it was a lovely touch getting lemoncello with dessert.. However, unfortunately the service left a lot to be desired. We were charged for an extra pizza, which was quickly understood as an admin error, however were held at the till for 15 minutes repeatedly being asked to say what we ordered, how much we paid, how much we paid according to what we ordered, even though the chef confirmed we hadn't recieved/ordered the extra pizza on the bill. A person in our group nearly paid the extra $30 just because they were sick of arguing. Left feeling worn out.

Lovely place right next to the main parking area in Takapuna. Both the wait staff and the manager on the floor were amazing, and made me and my partner feel right at home. Enough cannot be said about the food we tried; I went for the risotto and my partner opted for the tortellini. Obviously we can't make a judgment on the other types of dishes offered, but from what we can surmise from the food we ate we give Al Forno the big four thumbs up!

This is a really great Italian restaurant. One of the best in Auckland. The service was good and the staff were nice. Nice place for a night out.

Top restaurant you can find with real Italian cuisine, the Antipast, Pizzas and the whole menu..booking is recommended, parking available next to Takapuna cinema which is free after 6pm.. Top food with top after food drinks BUT on top of it all is Tony with his team who are so smiley & friendly that will make the dinner as pleasant as possible and more. l salute all at the Alford and thank you so much wishing you even greater success..A+++++++ ⚘

Busy little italian restaurant with a large brick/stone pizza oven somehow squished in. Its quite a tight fit with all the tables theyve got, but the pizza (big range with about 15 to 20 choices) was superb and a good portion. My friend had their steak accidentally delivered to another table but it didn't take them long to make another. Would recommend for a date night or dinner out with friends. Also make sure you book in advance if you want a table, we had to wait 30 mins on a Wednesday at 7pm for 2 ppl.

Incredible Italian! Their Pizza is possibly one of the best in Auckland - authentic Italian style (highly recommend Cappriciosa). Pasta was amazing and so fresh. The wine selection was fantastic. Can't recommend this place enough.

My family and I here dined Sunday under Level 2 conditions. The Food was pretty good, particularly the Pizza bread we had. My kids enjoyed their pasta. My masala veal was OK, not amazng. Service was friendly and professional. What removed our enjoyment somewhat, was the total lack of following L2 protocols when dining. Every table around us was filled, much less than the 1.5m distances mandated and we were served by 4 different people over our time dining. Other places we dined in the weekend were doing a much better job of keeping people apart.

We were umming and ahhing about whether to visit here after a not so great experience at a different restaurant and we are so glad we did! This place had an awesome ambience and the service we received was absolutely phenomenal. The food was delicious and the team were so welcoming. Thank you for turning our frowns upside down, will definitely be recommending to all our family and friends.

Third time here, drive from West Auckland believe me it’s worth it, one of my favorite Italian restaurants, cozy, great food, genuine wood fired Pizzas, the staff very attentive and friendly. Prices med to high, portions generous and a great menu selection. We will always come back both business and privately

Food was excellent, friendly service and great atmosphere. The best Italian restaurant I’ve tried in Auckland.

The starters are delicious, the mains are a bit small. $35-$40 for almost entree size mains. The pizzas are small and avarage we had a lot better ones in Belmont and Devonport. The service is very good. I give 3,5 out of 5.

Apparently they never received my online booking and they were fully booked when we arrived at 6pm. I was offered a place on the footpath, despite the wind and rain, which I declined. Never even got to look at the menu. The waiter was very polite though and I'm sure that the food would have been nice

We shared the puglia pizza as an entree, than pansotti, veal scollopini parmagna, vongole- probably shouldn’t have done the pizza as we were sooooo full! Portions are very generous. I thought mine was the best - the pansotti with walnuts. Extremely popular so book!

Average pizza. Addit: I ordered hawaian and the pizza was average to my liking. I see that there are many 4 and 5 stars probably meaning majority of others enjoy this place - maybe not for me As they had a good service I gave 3.

My girlfriend and I chose Al Forno last night to celebrate our birthdays. Food was great, but all throughout the night we were rushed by the wait staff. It was busy, after dinner the plates were cleared and we were given dessert menus and asked to order almost straight away. We said no thank you and were finishing our wine and water. We were told we would have to leave in 5 minutes if we didn't order as they wanted our table free for other customers. There were only 2 people waiting and the table next to us was cleared. We have been regular customers for many years, this service was very disappointing.

Being relatively new to this area I have to check reviews of restaurants before I dine. Al Forno came up great. Booking was really easy using their website. Almost instant response. The menu is extensive. The starters were really delicious and the main meals were awesome. I had the risotto. It was real quality. So full of seafood i was amazed. Been twice in 2 weeks. This time i had carbonara. So filling that i took the remainder home and had it for dinner the following night. All members of our group were similarly impressed. We'll be back again and again. Oh, and the staff were delightful...loved it there. Great atmosphere.

Good food but bad service. We ordered our food and once it arrived at the table we never saw our waitress again UNTIL we noticed her leaving for the night and walking out the door!!! Go figure!!! We weren't offered anything further to drink not even water! When we did eventually get the attention of the manager he told us that the restaurant actually closed at 9pm already!! Totally shocked we both said that the waitress should have told us that restaurant closed at 9pm on Sunday!! Overall not a pleasant experience when you get forgotten about and paying for a meal!

Best place in Auckland. The gnocci is delicious, all their ingredients are top quality, and the tiramisu is to die for. Great Italian ambiance.

Absolutely brilliant we cannot fault this restaurant (new owners) I had the tomohawk steak cooked to perfection as ordered with a side of mushrooms, my wife the prawn linguine and pear rocket salad, coffee to end with again perfect. Prices acceptable staff attentive and professional. Wonderful we will return thank you for a lovely evening.

We had booked and arrived 10 min late due to traffic so advise allowing generous travel time. The maître D was polite about it and we were quickly seated. It was a slightly noisy (but in a good way) cheerful crowd and the waiters efficiently kept everyone served but not rushed. The food was absolutely delicious. I didn’t try the pizzas, though they are probably great, instead opting for a seafood pasta dish. Getting all of pasta, seafood and seasonings just right is a challenge but it was delicious- perfect in fact. My companions enjoyed their dinners also and agreed they’ll be back. It’s a good balance between fine dining and casual - the atmosphere is casual but a little bit hipster cool which creates a sense of occasion. And the food is better than many fine-dining places despite the simple/rustic menu.

The food is cooked well and good serving sizes. As can happen anywhere their can be confusion with the orders, but these get resolved the atmosphere is good, the staff polite and friendly. Worth a visit and very popular in the early evenings.

Amazing food and quick service.

We've been going to Al Forno for over 6 years. The food is to die for. The lasagna is the best in the world, and I've tried lasagna throughout Italy last year. The service is friendly and efficient. It's our go to restaurant.

This place is amazing! The food is good the service is just amazing. We order the margarita pizza, spaghetti bolognaise and the steak meal. The pizza was lovely we found that it just the right amount of cheese. Steak meal was really good. A little disappointed with the spaghetti bolognaise as it didn't have enough meat in it and just needed a little bit of something else. Would recommend it to anyone.

We used to love this place in fact we rated it as the best in Auckland. But that was went Derrick and Dan owed it . We were surprised to see them gone and none of there staff retained not even there chef . Not the same place at all apart from a very lovely Italian waitress . We were disappointed . Night did not start well with a fire alarm and having to vacate the restaurant. Maybe that was a sign . Then my wife had to wait at least 5 mins outside the bathroom while a waitress clearly upset with sonething sobbed in the bathroom. The calamari was under cooked and in places a little raw . My main fish of the day did not come in the broth advertised but on a bed of scratchy potato's and lacked any real flavor. My wife had her normal favorite veal masala. And although the plate looked very nice and more than generous . Apon moving the large portion of mushrooms only found 3 small medallions of veal. Looking around the restaurant the pizza did look good . So maybe it's just a good place to have a pizza and a glass of wine now. Ii am personally gutted as now I'm going to have to cross the bridge to try and find another good italian restaurant.

They have a very large menu to choose from, so it's easy to find something delicious. The dishes are prepared in advance, so the wait time for food is really short. Service here is 5/5, can't complain about the waiter or owner. One star is lost due to the saltiness of the food, I think because my pizza had a lot of the processed meats - ham, bacon and salami, it is easy for the saltiness to take over. Best thing is the dessert though, would come back just to eat dessert.

The food was generally nice. Had entree of pizza bread, calamari and mushrooms. Mains of pizza, eye fillet and seafood pasta. Good friendly service, nice ambience, but a bit loud. The only dissapointment was the calamari, which we asked to be remade, but after being remade still came out bland and luke warm. Calamari is hard to get right so if you can't get it right don't serve it.

Visited here several times and the service is always outstanding. Professional staff who are always welcoming and very considerate. Food is always yummy and you get a lot of it. Highly recommend a visit with your loved one for a nice intimate romantic date.

Very nice food and atmosphere. They don't accept American Express which is always annoying. Service was friendly and prompt. Was able to sit, order and eat a 2 course meal in a little over an hour. Good times and recommended.

Been here a couple of times now and had a great meal both teams. Unpretentious and manages to conjure up an authentic ambience. Went for pizzas both times and they were both excellent. The bruschetta and creme brûlée are must-tries. Friendly service and good value.

First time visit. Food was excellent. Don't go if you are on a diet. Best tiramisu in years. We will definitely be back. It was booked out and busy busy busy but the service was spot on. Had an amazing dine in meal not long ago but disappointed with the takeway meals. Lasagna was stodgy, cold and subpar. Awesome service and food when dining in so not sure why the takeway isn't consistent, not the first time we've had average takeaway.

Wow, the parmesan bread was incredible, the pizzas thin, tasty, amazing. The pasta had great depth of flavour, we really felt it was made with passion. The quality of ingredients leaves some places to shame. Will be back, maybe tomorrow!! Staff were attentive and polite, and the owner a star. Go book!

Amazing food! We had calzone and gnocchi, was tasty and big plates! We also tried creme brulee and panacotta as desserts, very good quality!

Took the mother in law out for dinner here. I'm not a huge foodie but thought the red wine they recommended was very nice, and the steak I had was superbly cooked. The others all had pretty nice meals as well (pretty jealous of the Carbonara my brother in law had). Service was good too, would definitely go back.

Al Forno never disappoints. All dishes are true Italian ingredients and flavors. Great staff help make your dining experience very special. I can recommend this restaurant and look forward to going back every time.

We have dined here many times. As always the service is friendly and genuine. ....and the food is just what you expect it to be. Calamari is spectacular. Linguine excellent and the veal good. This is a restaurant that understands its clientele and delivers extremely well to them. An excellent neighborhood restaurant. Nearly always very very busy for good reason.

It's not often that you visit a restaurant which really exceeds expectations and sets the bar high. Al Forno truly stands out as a top notch cuisine, wine and fine dining experience. All of the staff work very well in a team delivering only the best service, and it is clear that this is in part due to the owner's active role in the care and diligence put into setting those standards. The staff are highly knowledgable and disciplined in their art, and have a high level understanding of bringing true Italian / European restaurant traditions right to your table. There are many reviews commenting on high prices, but visiting Al Forno is an experience in itself that makes it very good value. Al Forno will remain my first choice as an experiential treat.

Delicious 😊 I had Lasagna and my husband had a pizza both were yummm. We had ordered Garlic bread as an entrée which was huge for only 2 people - it comes in size of a large pizza! Definitely suggest reservation, the restaurant was full on a Thursday evening.

I didn't go here I was next door at nippon sake. Takapuna is nice though never really been to the "north shore" it's a bit different enjoyable though.

Great food we had the prosciutto pizza, the tortellini, chicken liver, and the carbonara; all were top class! Happy and professional waiters too makes for an all around great time!

It was our 11th years anniversary, I just asked about what's good because it's our 1st time there, and told them it was our Anniversary. We were recommended the Calamari as a starter, the fettuccine alfredo and the felitto senape, we think this is the best Italian in Auckland and the service was exceptionally great, we were given a complimentary Happy Anniversary ice cream and the end of our Dinner.

Al Forno is a gorgeous Italian restaurant and is my new favourite restaurant of all time! The atmosphere is so warm, inviting and comfortable without skimping on class and elegance. I was utterly astounded at my first (and certainly not my last!) experience here and genuinely cannot wait to go back! The food was insanely incredible and the service was impeccable, with the friendliest waitstaff. The Tortellini di Pollo was without a doubt the best pasta dish I have ever eaten, as its Amaretto sauce was nothing like I'd ever tried before - lovely and creamy and sweet. I also discovered my new favourite red wine - the Velenosi Lacrima. Thank you to Al Forno for an incredible dining experience!

I nearly gave it 4 stars, but to be honest it is a step down from Botticelli 4 doors down. Its good food but not quite in rave category.

after years visiting Al Forno, we went again this last Saturday 1/4/17 April fools day for sure.! under new management - total confusion- service lousy - food passable the management could not give a darn about clients welfare or experience- when we left - 3 of them with their backs to customers that were leaving - whilst they were busy hovering over a counter catting Previous owners had the courtesy and respect for customers to at least say good bye and enquiring if all was satisfactory. The whole ambience is gone - it is just now a food factory. They should have left this restaurant to Italians or Macedonians. they know about hospitality Will never go back again

Our favourite eatery in Taka right in town by the beach. Staff are lovely and everything tastes divine.

We had our work Xmas here I normally rate how I cook steak at home this was good to okay will be coming back here again as a group
