Reviews of Amano
J.
One of the best meals we had in Auckland. The restaurant interior is beautiful, staff very polite and helpful. It was very busy, definitely recommend booking a table in advance so you don't miss out. We didn't feel rushed between our courses and were asked if we wanted time to wait between. Food came out in good time. Delicious cocktails. Cannot wait to visit again.
N.
Very fancy restaurant. Delicious food! The whole experience from start to finish was great, tried several dishes including dessert, we enjoyed everything. The waitress was so friendly .Appreciated the cozy atmosphere. Will definitely visit again
R.
You didn't disappoint us for a bit. Lived up to your high standards. Hospitality in a true sense. Food, service, ambience and experience. Top notch. Just had coffees and small bites and were highly impressed. Can't wait to be back to try main courses.
S.
We were seated at the bar for coffees and I ordered pastry from its bakery next door (a barrier was added in between).
Pear shortcake's not too sweet, but a little disappointed the biscuit bits are not crumbly enough, would taste better if layered with cream.
Double shot cappuccino's smokey.
Great music and ambience when we were there after lunch on a Friday. Nice, friendly staff!
P.S. Spend $50 at any of Britomart's 65+ participating businesses and get 2 hours' free parking.
C.
Always a fan of Amano. It doesn’t matter what you order, the taste of it will not disappoint. I’ve recently came back here again for lunch and left feeling warmly satisfied. We ordered: the smoked warehou pate (so, so, so delicious - I’m not sure how they made the sauce but it was good), the prosciutto (my dad wiped the plate clean) and the courgette (paired with guanciale - how can this go wrong?). My family and I sat at the quay side of the restaurant which was nice and bright. It’s a good place for a long brunch since parking is free at the Britomart parking; and if I didn’t rave enough, the food is delicious!
R.
Staff were mediocre at *best*. It's a shame because the establishment and the food are next level.
Waitress was rude to my dining guest. Umming and erring if I'll go back because if it.
D.
Great for breakfast. I love how the portion sizes aren't overly huge and the focus on doing a few dishes well. It's all also nice to see a pasta dish and a prosciutto roast potato dish for breakfast as an alternative to the standard brunch cafe fare.
a.
Amazing venue, even better food. Been numerous times break, lunch and dinner, not all on the same day though. The staff are very friendly and happy to talk through the menu if needed. Food is amazing every-time, definitely worth checking out the bakery next door if you wanting to pick up some nice pastries and sandwiches. Definitely will be back again for sure!!
S.
Followed our noses after a yummy-bbq smell around britomart and stumbled into Amano! What a pleasant surprise..this is Italian inspired honest-to-goodness food - Yummo. Every plate we ordered was delicious, we were so full but I couldn’t resist the canollo after eating my way through the best cannolis in Boston this was right up there..cheehuu we will be back 👏🏾
S.
Visited for a quick breakfast, and I have to say the food is incredible and diverse, a range of flavors can be found on the menu and they do not disappoint, neither do the staff who are incredibly hospitable and hard working! Highly recommend.
A.
Visited after 4 months of lockdown. As always the food & service was excellent. It’s one of my favourite fresh pasta places. Ambience here is amazing, my favourite seating here is counter seats, where you get to watch them make fresh pasta. Due to Covid-19 restrictions they have stopped serving these tables. Can’t wait to go back again.
A.
Always a fantastic experience me and my girlfreind have been regulars for a few years, service and food has always been excellent!
N.
Had to wait for a table which was no problem as we were seated on the side by their closed bakery and served drinks.
When told a table was ready there was no mention when putting our ne down or being moved to our table that it would be up at the bar. Service was average, mainly due to us being up at the bar. Between entrée and mains they forgot to place our mains order so had to wait awhile for mains to come. Ended up eat our main meal close to 9.30pm, which was very late considering we entered the restaurant at 7.30pm and were seated by 8pm. Food was amazing, good vegetarian options. Taste was great. Ambiance was beautiful. Loved the dried flower arrangements on the ceiling.
S.
I went to this place on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Although the staff members are friendly and corteous, not all of them were smiling or greeting. I was expecting a better welcome. Staff comprised of different ethnicities which is very encouraging in terms of a diverse hospitality workforce. Prices are reasonably good for the location and standards. The menu could improve in terms of variety and simplicity. I was struggling to understand the composition of each cuisine therefore the food could be better explained in the menu itself. Although the food seemed well crafted and delicately presented, I was expecting a lot better. Overall, the place has a good ambience and is well presented. Although customer service is not bad but could definitely improve.
I.
Came here for dinner and it was sooo good. Flavourful and creative dishes! Every mouthful was packed full of flavours. Every starter and main was spot on!!! So delicious! Must book a table in advance! Nice environment and also free 2 hour parking at Brito mart car park (remember to retain the receipt though!) Wait staff was friendly and always made sure we were looked after.
HOWEVER!! The desserts didn’t finish it off. Gelato stick was meh, kinda like a magnum stick. Trifle was way too rich. They need to either balance it or make it smaller portion. Also it should’ve been served in a clear glass instead of a bowl so that we can see the beautiful layers of the trifle! Unfortunately it went from amazing to meh because of the desserts, which was really disappointing.
But overall easy 9/10. If they nail the desserts then obviously 10/10. I definitely recommend this place!
E.
Beef ragu pasta is honestly divine. Fast and attentive service. Expensive food but you have to see what the hype’s about. Book in advance
R.
Amano is such a gem ! We arrived to the place at a very busy hour and all the tables were full but the staffs were very friendly, polite and thoughtful to us. I like everything about this place: the food, the ambiance, the layout, the customer service, the way they display dishes. Beefsteak and grilled chicken are the stars. The octopus was very delicious and mouthwatering as well. Amano has this unexplainable charm to it that you can feel it by the moment your walk through their door. This place is great for family/friends gatherings; a date with your love; or just a solo dine out by yourself. I will definitely be coming back to Amano over and over again. Try this place out for once and your won’t be regret !
S.
Had high hopes coming to Amano for breakfast today, was only slightly disappointed. Overall was still enjoyable, but important details were missed - such as the poached egg being overdone and our pastries came a little burnt. Atmosphere and the coffee was good!
G.
Very cozy Italian restaurant. Recommended 👍🏻
I like their pasta here. 😋
E.
Serving staff are pleasant, always smiling despite the constant crowd. The almond croissant is fantastic. Crunchy, flaky, right sweetness and plenty almond. However, their bun with chocolate is quite disappointing. Otherwise, it would have been 5 stars.
M.
Great atmosphere 👌🏻 food was great and people were kind even though it was a last minute decision.
T.
Tried Amano with colleagues earlier this year and had high expectations.
Food tasted average overall for the four dishes we ordered (Tuatua spaghetti, steak, Pan roasted flounder, lamb pasta) especially the clams spaghetti was under cooked, maybe we didn't order the right dishes?
H.
Had brunch at Amano on Saturday. We didn't have a reservation and despite that we were appointed to a nice table. The service was fast, professional and friendly. Great food. Amazing decor and vibe! Highly recommend!
s.
Have been coming here with my family for the last few years. Think we’re know as the Monday regulars. Love the market fish curdo- octopus- lamb shoulder- chicken and the pastas.
AND the cocktails are fun, as they’re seasonal.
Do wish the wine list would be expanded- very limited in my opinion :)))
R.
Absolutely love this restaurant, have been here at least 10 times. The service, food and drinks are exceptional and the restaurant itself is gorgeous. There are different dishes to cater to every taste which is great for picky eaters.
Y.
Came all the way for the breakfast today but quite disappointed this time.
I’ve ordered smoked fish on toast with poached egg but the egg was way over cooked. I was expecting running yolk when I cut it, but it was completely set. And the bakery I’ve ordered are over heated with burnt almonds and layer on top. And it makes the pastry hard to chew and overly crunchy.
The details do ruin the overall picture.
But,overall the view and staff is nice and friendly as usual and the idea of food and the bakery itself is good despite the poor execution.
S.
The spaghetti and fish were sooooo good! But lamb was just alright
J.
Where comes first in your mind when you crave pasta? Yupp! Definitely Amano. Their fresh pasta menu which btw changes almost everyday are just bomb! Always satisfying and very much creative. I had their Gnudi with sweet corn and salsa verde, so so good! Also, the octopus and chickpea dish was also pretty tasty! The place is packed and are busy but service was still nice, friendly and helpful. The ambiance of the place is really cool too with abig open kitchen that offers kind of a show.
Spent 120$ but was all worth it!
N.
Five stars to Nina, the South African waiter. She was amazing, efficient, knowledgeable and got all our orders correct without delays, attentive with replenishing our water glasses and always asked if we wanted more drinks . Food were great, great atmosphere / vibrant, cozy, the restaurant felt spacious not cramped. I noticed great team work there from the kitchen - the bar and the front of house staff.
M.
Amazing experience as always at Amano. The food is excellent, made with great quality ingredients and incredibly fresh. Our server Katie was absolutely outstanding and she totally made the experience. Definitely hope that she is our server the next time we go!! One of Auckland’s top spots for sure.
R.
Change your head chef😞 service deserves 4 stars food deserves 2 too salty did not remove tendon in meat which is careless. I loved steak itself either its fresh or used fine lamb meat, between rare and medium rare cooked was suit, garnish was ok too. I still did not get why some kind of breadcrumb that you used on my pasta dish has frozen taste or fridge taste it was disgusting🤮 spaghetti was clearly over 2mm.. too chewy too much gluten then its udon not a pasta 😞 however your staff was too good for this restaurant so I give 3 stars.
G.
First time and not the last. Great coffee. Stunning food. Very clean and classy amenities.
K.
The place had a nice atmosphere. Great service. We had an extra person and they easily accommodated us. The waitress was able to help with wine recommendations and the food came out fast. Water was always filled up. The food was exceptionally. Especially the parpadele. The tuna was also amazing. This is one of my favourite places in Auckland. Definitely a must try. They do a decent breakfast too.
S.
Have come here a few times for breakfast and lunch. The food is consistently en pointe, coffee is deliciously strong, and they serve sparkling water as the standard. Highly recommend the omelette.
Atmosphere is relaxed, despite the space buzzing with patrons every day. Recommend booking ahead if dining at prime times, and make sure to check out the well appointed bathrooms.
Went for dinner last week. We had the burrata on a bed of cherry tomatoes and basil swept up by chewy chunks of house baked sourdough, followed by a perfect medium-rare steak that had a bit of gristle, and a side of grilled courgette. Amazing flavours, looking forward to my next visit.
J.
Food is really great and inside the restaurant is so beautiful 🤩
D.
A very good dining experience lunch or dinner. Beautiful food that's consistently at a high level. The service was great particularly considering the staffing challenges hospitality is under at present, In AKL
T.
Without a doubt, Amano is my favourite restaurant in New Zealand.
Being open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner I know that I can always rely on the team at Amano to exceed my expectations, every time.
The chefs do a great job at selecting in season produce which is presented impeccably. It is great to see Amano put emphasis on the provenance of their food - staff will be able to tell you the origins of where the ingredients come from.
The cocktails are a big highlight which change with the seasons. I am always confident that no matter what I try, I will love what the bar serves me. If there is something particular that isn't on the menu, they will usually be able to make it for you.
Atmosphere and Service - this is where Amano really comes to life. Being a big restaurant I am always impressed with the personal service that comes with every meal. From the moment you walk in and are greeted, to ordering food and then paying at the end, the service cant be beaten. Staff are not overwhelmed and really take the time to make sure your experience is up to their high standards.
Overall, I feel privileged to be able to able to dine at Amano. It is a non-pretentious all day restaurant that has, in my opinion, the best service in Auckland.
S.
Always a Pleasure and Delight.. :)
I went with my friends for lunch and ordered the Scampi cappelletti, Pan roasted porae, Focaccia di recvo and we absolutely loved every bit of it. Everything was fresh and vibrant with flavours. The butterscotch budino was a great choice for dessert but was a little too much after eating a lot (honestly, our tummies didn’t mind :))
The strawberry cocktail is a must try. 😋😋
Overall, the food was amazing, service was good and a very happy experience!
A.
A total perfection of a bakery/ restaurant. I would go as far as calling it a landmark in Auckland! A must for your visit to the city, even if it’s not on your way. The ambience is worthy of 6 stars. Everything screamed class, style, attention to detail, all while not being too posh and unattractive to the everyday tourist. For example, I have never seen such classy restrooms (see pictures), perfectly clean, two types of hand wash and towels for drying your hands. Now turning to food. Lost for words. An incredible selection of bakery- brunch-restaurant dishes. What can be better? Well tasting it! It was truly mouth-watering. Further, their service was also 5 stars. Free water for everyone. This is probably one of the top 5 restaurants I have ever been to.
S.
I finally visited Amano today. The interior is very well decorated. The atmosphere was rather complex, rather than calm. It must be a famous restaurant The service was really great!!
I ordered some food, and it had a rather normal taste, but the food was a bit salty.. There are no irritating ingredients, but did you spill salt into the bowl by mistake? haha.. The food got more salty when it cooled down later. but all the dishes are pretty and the olive oil is delicious! I'll ask them to season less salt next time.
M.
I've been here three times, twice for dinner and once for lunch and it has never disappointed.
The food has always been top notch, and it is great for sharing meals, whether between two or more.
They also have a great selection of interesting and fresh cocktails that are worth a try.
The staff have always been great, friendly and helpful.
If you don't book there can be a wait, so be prepared for that. It is worth it though!
J.
Amazing food, amazing service! I highly recommend this place 10/10
Food was beautiful and the waiter was so helpful, even recommended me a wine which was perfect with the meal. There are no bad things about my experience at Amano. I can’t wait to go back.
M.
Amazing food, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Got a table for 5 without reservation.
O.
Amazing food. Great service.
G.
This is a very good Italian resturant. The decor is very tasteful and the staff are attentive without being suffocating. The food is good and buit of local, sustainable ingredients. This aligns with the general attention to detail that goes into this place. Despite its size it still manages to feel intimate. A good job done well.
F.
More restaurants should offer amazing burrata like this. Would rate as one of the top restaurants to take an out of town guest to showcase Auckland’s dining scene at its best. Amano can tend to get overly busy despite its large size, so it’s easy to get lost in the crowd, but it’s worth it for the classic dishes and ambiance. Small dishes and pastas are must recommend, but other large dishes can be overwhelmed in garnishes sometimes like the fish and lamb. Overall great location if you park somewhere close like the Britomart carpark, with top notch views if you are lucky enough to get one of the tables on the Quay st side
S.
Came here for dinner last night. Amazing place, great decor, atmosphere, wouldn’t look out of place in London or Melbourne, shows how much the Auckland food scene has grown up. Food was amazing, very fresh, great flavour and local. We sat at the bar for dinner, Lizzie the Bar Manager was fantastic and gave some great wine matching. Can’t fault this place, but make sure you book ahead otherwise long wait times at weekends
E.
Took my team there for team lunch late last year, I didn't make a booking so by the time we got there, it was lunch hour and a 15-30 minutes wait. The waitress took my name and number for the table and we basically just roamed around the area, before the 15 is minutes over my phone rang and we got our table, that wasn't too bad.
The food there was quite interesting, at the start it didn't taste much. But as I keep eating it, slowly the taste grew on me and it seems to taste better towards the end of the meal.
Their service was okay, they were so busy and we waited for quite a while until we could pay for our meal.
Restaurant wise it was okay, not bad, not great. But the reason I am giving them 4 out of 5 stars is because of their bakery. Their bread is really good, very reasonable pricing and the quality of their artisan bread is amazing.
F.
My issue was that if yu are preparing a menu for a specific day and that day is a public holiday, don't ramp your individual meal prices up and then note in small writing that there is a Public Holiday surchage applicable to your already inflated menu prices. This is dodgy, greedy behaviour. The staff were great but clearly the decision makers are not so much.
M.
This is our favorite restaurant. No matter how busy or whatever the time is, there's always a table in Amano and they always feed us good food. Service is always amazing too!
M.
Excellent restaurant located on Britomart place and Tyler street. Loved the scampi and tomatoes. Just the perfect blend of pasta and spice. One of the best places I’ve eaten in Auckland. Has a pub and such. Tables are limited so reserve one if able. If not there is usually something available at the bar.
N.
We go to Amano for brunch often and the wait really depends on how many people are in your group. 2 of us tend to go between 9:30/11 a.m. and get seated immediately. However, this weekend we went as a group of 4, at the same time, and waited 30 minutes. Parking is good because we can park for free up to 2h in the building across the road (next to Les Mills). The venue is beautiful and there's a great atmosphere. Very friendly staff and open kitchen for those curious minds. Food wise, the avocado dish is delicious and the crunchy element on top (barley maybe, not sure) is a great addition. The butternut frittata is also quite good and very filling. For dinner, our go-to dish is the Chitarra pasta (with scampi) - it seriously is one of the best pasta dishes I have tried. If you're keen on a cheeky cocktail, the Bellini slides down your throat very smoothly. Hehe
I.
Loved the food. Had a couple of bakery items and the ham and cheese croissant was awesome. Food wise, pasta was delicious and fresh - the guy makes it in front of you. Coffees were good too. Was recommended to try the chocolate tart for dessert and was not disappointed.
The decor of this shop is unique and hip, with a comfortable environment although it can get quite noisy.
J.
Lovely food and the friendliest service. We sat at the bar where there wasn’t the most room and weren’t facing each other but it was very enjoyable watching the chefs cook.
The waitress who served us was happy to explain to us the menu. There are some items you can order that aren’t on the menu, such as bread with olive oil.
It is good to note that you’ll need to book well in advance to get a seat. We had to wait for 45 minutes or sit at a shared table. We opted for the 45 minute wait to get the bar seat.
The food was fantastic! Although the pasta portion size was a bit big and could of been slightly less spicy. The flavours were lovely. My partner ordered the lamb which was so soft and tender; note i don’t normally like lamb.
R.
People got to try a lot of the dishes from the menu. Including jdut about every dish from the starter and all of them are so good I could not pick one. We had pasta with scampi and chili and it was the best! Every dessert was divine and their espresso martinis are to die for. Top notch service, our water and champagne glasses were never empty. Amazing and highly recommend to all!
D.
The only restaurant we visited twice while in Auckland. The pasta is freshly made daily, having a distinctive chew over dry pasta. The scampi was tender and not overly cooked (still nice and creamy texture), the dish we ordered twice. The octopus was tender and flavorful. The lamb was a bit overdone, but still tasted great.
A.
Simply exceptional. From the service to the food to the atmosphere; this is the best place I’ve been to in Auckland. We had the Pork, Lamb and Steak on our table, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Personally, the steak was easily the best way I’ve had steak served before, and accompanied with the baby corn, and potatoes to share made for a truly memorable meal.
L.
This is our first time to visit Amano. We ordered "Smoked warehou pate, green olive & sourdough" and "Chargrilled lamb, carrot, preserved lemon & goat’s cheese". The meal are very delicious and tasty. Staffs are helpful and friendly even though they are very busy.
M.
We had the pleasure of sitting at a chef’s table along the bar. This made the whole experience very special as we had the opportunity to watch the team work. But that was only a small part as the food was delicious and fresh, very tasty and well-presented. I would recommend Amano to anyone and everyone.
N.
Love everything about this place. Service is superb. Atmosphere is spectacular and the food is delicious.
It would get a 5 star rating on the scampi linguini alone. This meal is incredible. A perfect mix of flavors that works really well with the bread they serve to scoop up all the sauce
Y.
Love the hand made pasta. But don’t order kids style pasta as there were no flavour. My kid refused to eat.
D.
Absolutely love Amano and their dried flowers which hang in abundant bunches from the ceiling. Having dined at this completely beautiful restaurant for lunches and dinners a couple of times in the past🍴, I finally got to try their brunch menu last weekend. As expected, the food was simply spectacular❣️ Ordered Avocado, sourdough, poached egg & almond - fresh, flavoursome and with all the right seasoning – flawless👏.
How can you leave the restaurant without checking their bakery and especially grabbing a golden croissant🥐. “Croissants aux Amandes” (aka Almond Croissants) is my absolute favorite - those delicate and flaky layers, the nuttiness and sweet, sweet buttery goodness - it’s so amazing and addicting❗️
H.
Regardless of the time of day - the food is amazing and one of the best options you could go for within the CBD. Brunch is unreal, cabinet food is stellar and of course the dinner dining experience is near unmatched.
E.
Wow, just wow! Amano delivers an amazing experience, either in the dine in restaurant or on their bakery / coffee takeout. On point and highly recommended.
T.
Definitely in my top 10 restaurants that I’ve been to, possibly in my top 5. Venue was unique and well decorated with dry flowers hanging from the ceiling. Service was top notch. Food was amazing. I didn’t think I could be blown away by Italian food, but this place changed my mind. All the dishes we had were amazing. A combination of tastes that is difficult to pinpoint, and goes so well together. Can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. If I were ever to return to Auckland, this will be my first and last stop. Thanks to our bartender in Queenstown for recommending this place.
G.
Vibrant, lively and amazing atmosphere on a Tuesday night at AMANO. People keeps turning up and there wasn’t a dull moment sitting among everyone enjoying their meals and chatting away 😄 We did not book prior but was allocated seats within 15mins. Opened kitchen serving eye-catching and delicious food. Totally enjoyed the great service and what a memorable night. Thank you
A.
Nice food and trendy atmosphere. The best dish of the table was the chargrilled lamb (super tender and juicy), and second best was the beef carpaccio (well seasoned and balanced with citrus and capers). Oysters were also very fresh and delicious!
Only thing was I felt like because our time with the table booking was coming to an end, there was a bit of a polite push with no gracious thank you for spending nearly $500 but I suppose we were just another number... next!
N.
I had one of the best steaks in my entire life at this restaurant. The place has a great vibe. Make sure to book a reservation for a nice table otherwise you will have to seat on the high chairs
陳.
An impressive yet cozy meal to farewell NZ after our 2-week vacation. Their lamb shoulder is top3 among our entire trip after tasting lamb almost every day. It was tender, juicy, full of great smell of lamb itself and served with refreshing yogurt sauces and small tomates. The buffalo curd with cucumber blossom was cool enough to remember for a while, the blossoms were filled by pine nets - so delicious!
The John Dory fish was nice however not super outstanding due to the fish itself although the staff recommended its freshness - John Dory isn’t naturally a very tasty fish in my POV.
Their wine selection was a bit pricy (esp. Red). We’ve got 2 reds from NZ.
S.
I can see why people consider this the best restaurant in Auckland. The food and drinks were incredible and my wife and I loved the ambiance. The open concept restaurant truly gives one the experience of a high end, sophisticated establishment. I would highly recommend!
S.
The food is excellent. As is the service. Three separate members of the staff served us and the service was impeccable. And the glasses of water always topped up. The staff seems to be very happy too, giggling and having little chats. It’s a big place but pockets of it feel like a home
G.
Stopped by for a light lunch on a Sunday afternoon.
Clearly popular with most tables filled.
Plenty of seating at the bar.
Menu options had a good variety.
Drinks were interesting and I loved the smoothie.
The pâté was amazing and a very generous serve.
Recommended. I’d like to explore their breakfast options.
A.
Great food and service at the restaurant. The pasta is handmade. Prices are standard for a nice sit-down restaurant in that part of town. I think the fairly new Spectra Cafe in the nearby PWC could be a rival for best pasta in CBD. I think the menu rotates as every time I go there, as there are subtle changes on the menu (that being said we are in the middle of a Global Pandemic). There is a nice bakery with a good selection of savoury pastries, and desserts. The lines are very long in the weekdays as a lot of office workers go there for lunch/coffee. I would admit the coffee is a bit meh and the dessert selection at the restaurant is tiny. Bar is okay, standard selection of drinks. Very close to the train station. Really nice decor if that is important to you, one of the nicest restaurant toilets I have ever used.
D.
Great atmosphere and decor, close by to the harbour. The food is creative and inventive, I enjoyed their breakfast pasta offering, it was a decent portion cooked well. The coffee also tasted great. Staff were friendly, not a long wait for neither the coffee or food to come out. There is also a take away bakery that offers coffee and pastries, so if you change your mind, you have a second chance.
D.
Excellent food and service. Lots of cheeses on different dishes. Loved the mozarella oven baked bread thingy. Friendly and attentive staff. What i liked was they keep half of the seats for walk ins and half for bookings. Bookings get really busy and need to book weeks in advance for dinner time.
C.
Absolutely breathtaking interior design, photos taken here are stunning. The customer service is professional yet in a super friendly way which I have not experience much in Auckland.
About the the experience on menu, the desserts are very stunning both in the look and the taste, reasonable price which confirmed that here is my first option for afternoon tea. Other than that, the drinks are nice, especially the flat white, the crayfish tortellini is prettier than it's taste (my friend doesn't think so who said she is in love with it).
Thoroughly enjoyed lots at Amano, highly recommended. Thank you!
E.
Simply delicious. Staff were friendly and professional. Food was amazing and well priced, they even added a little Happy Birthday touch. I hadn’t been for quite a few years (prior to this visit it was always work related lunches m) so I was looking forward to dinner. The chargrilled courgette side with chilli and feta is a must have! The furnishings were comfortable and not placed too closely together. I’m not a big fan of dried flower arrangements myself but they were an interesting feature. We will defiantly be recommending Amano to whanau and friends. Thanks for having us.

From the moment we walked through the door for dinner to when we were leaving, the staff was very friendly and accomodating. The space and atmosphere were also pretty cool. The food was tasty, but nothing extraordinary. Perhaps my expectation was too high from reading other reviews. Still, it was overall a great experience and I wouldn't mind coming back again.
J.
Excellent food and service. It’s quite busy most nights especially in the weekends, so do try to book when possible. Their pastas are rather pricy but always very tasty. Make sure you try their entrees if you have the appetite, as they are rather unique around Auckland and again, very delicious..
M.
Don't get me wrong, awesome atmosphere and great food - but man the wait staff could use a lesson in customer relations! Spent 1k here between the 6 of us and all we got was the impression that they couldn't be bothered, short curt answers to our questions.
S.
Fantastic place for lunch. We made reservations for lunch but they set aside half the tables for walk in guests. Not the place for cheap eats but definitely the place for those that love carbs, drinking and want to splurge. It's very popular, they have seats by the kitchen... You can watch pasta being made. We went on a Sunday, parking is still horrendous.
Y.
Staff is very friendly!!very nice customer service! But the only things is need to have reservation earlier, otherwise will take you sometime to wait~ high recommend this king fish and scampi pasta!
V.
That was one of my best experience in food. Really good service, better to book a table for Friday night. The food was excellent. Not cheap, but totally worth it.
S.
A great dining experience. Modern Italian cuisine. Everything was delicious. They had run out of several ingredients for dishes we ordered for our dinner but to be fair, we didn't order until 11.30pm on a Saturday night. The place is obviously very popular and busy but service was great- professional and attentive.
K.
This is probably my favourite restaurant in Auckland. All the food is amazing, the coffee is consistently good (bring your own reusable cup if you're getting takeaways) and the bakery food is divine. The ambience in service is impeccable, a great place to take friends and family or a date.
S.
I really like the spaghetti, especially the clam. The steak taste good as well. The decoration is so nice with all the dry flowers and the rusty style. And they use Aesop hand wash and hand balm in the washroom!!
Z.
Quality service, nice atmosphere, i ordered like the most common meat dish (grilled chicken dish) it comes with a big portion and the flavour's good. The chocolate budino's a good choice for dessert with layered texture. One star off cos my friends' dishes seem not so satisfying
C.
My twin and l celebrated our birthday lunch at Amano last week. Was during the week so assumed would not be busy, however was super surprised it was packed, make sure you book to get a table. When entering the restaurant the door was opened for us, nice touch and taken to our table. The waiter was very attentive and l appreciated the fact that he advised us they were busy and to maybe order to ensure we didn't have to wait to long. He also kept us updated as to when the meal was coming as we did have to wait a while, however did not mind too much as we had been advised. So lets talk about the food, i had heard good things and l am happy to say the food was wonderful, yummy, fresh and tasty with plenty to select from. There was also kids in the group and they accommodated them really well. I ordered the Tagliatelle as recommended by the waiter and it was very tasty, my husband ordered the Crayfish tortellini, and the rest of the table enjoyed Kingfish, swordfish and a wonderful selection of vegetables and potatoes to go with the meals and everyone loved their dish. Unfortunately we didnt order desert as we had a cake waiting at home, so just another reason to head back for another meal. Great food, atmosphere and a great place to enjoy a meal with friends and family....dont be in a rush enjoy your time there!
J.
Amanos presence and atmosphere are inviting and have a lure of something impressive to come. The food doesn’t disappoint. Full of flavour and a little different without being unfamiliar. Great cocktails and coffee too.
O.
Very nice design. The prices are reasonable. The mains are not too big, but the side dishes are huge. Everything was perfect: the quality and taste of food, the customer service and the time we have spent in this place. Nice music and atmosphere
B.
Hyped. Been here twice to make sure I have given it enough opportunities. The food is pretty average, the decor and environment is good. Suitable for small groups or dating. Food comes to about $40 per person, drinks separate.
M.
I've been waiting for months to eat at this place as they were full every time we visited. Finally managed to get a table by booking online and the wait was so worth it! Average service but the food and lively atmosphere makes up for it:) I loved the clam spaghetti and can't wait to try the other pastas next time. The bakery next door is really nice too, the lemon meringue tart was yummy!
J.
Across road from waterfront - found by accident but so glad we did. Attentive friendly staff even though busy, great meal, sparkling water, coffee & hot choc. Would come back again.
T.
Ortolana was an exquisite lunching experience from entering into this breathtaking restaurant and being warming greeted by the host through to eyeing the beautiful decor of the epicurean gourmet village style restaurant with bakery, meat section, pasta section and more. It really was like entering into a upmarket Italian country village.
Our waiter was exceptional, so attentive, engaging, informative and friendly and whilst some of table’s dishes were hit and miss in terms, I loved and thoroughly enjoyed my kingfish crudo and seafood linguine. The produce was so flavoursome and our dessert and coffees to finish off were perfect! Highly recommended!
S.
I can tell Amano can be in my top 10 restaurants in Auckland. I tried brunch and dinner here. It was amazing to see how chefs were making pasta! My favorite spot in CBD for daily catch ups with friends or family. ❤️❤️❤️
A.
This is hands down one of the best Restaurants i have ever been to in my life. The service is so good, they fill up your glass with their amazing sparkling water instantly when you are running low and the waiters know their menu off by heart and the recommendations are spot on! Amano is a must go-to place in Auckland, not just for lunch and dinner but also for snacks and breads. Their bakery is on of the most beautiful things i have ever seen, i wanted to try everything but my stomach only allows so much food. The Wagyu Sandwich from the bakery is a must try and all the dishes at amano are excellent, you wont be disappointing with randomly ordering dishes because each one is amazing in its own way. the Free bread is also so good and yes, you can ask for more if needed. Dont even get me started on their butter and olive oil, its a must try. Even the toilet at this restaurant is an experience, the towels and design legit makes me question if i am at a restaurant or a hotel. Amano is good for groups as you can order alot of dishes and share each of them, a must try is their steak and lamb if they have it on the menu as it changes frequently. Overall this one of the best restaurants in the area and its worth paying for the ridiculous parking around the area, And worth the drive from Hamilton :) 11/10
B.
Stopped by on a Friday without a reservation and managed to get a table after a bit of a wait with drinks. We opted to eat at the counter instead of waiting for a table to become free which was a good idea since we could see the food being prepared (although we were on the far end so didn't get to see much apart from the prep).
After ordering we were told that we might have gotten a bit too much for two but we continued ahead since we were hungry. We started with the stracciatella and had two fish mains and a bowl of pasta. Portions were well sized so a main and pasta would have been ok. Being the piggies we are, we ate through all the food and still got a dessert.
the place itself was quite interesting, large and open with dried items hanging everywhere. I thought it was a bit on the hot side though. Food was really well cooked and delicious. I don't think you could really go wrong here since it was all quite tasty.
H.
One of my favourite places to visit with friends for dinner or for a quiet morning brunch with the husband! Impeccable service, attentive staff, beautiful decor, lovely atmosphere, but MOST importantly, delicious food and amazing drinks - coffee, alcoholic or non-alcoholic options, it’s always good!
J.
A really great busy restaurant, from the minute you walk in till the final steps pot the doors the service doesn't stop.
Warm and genuine service from all, the food is exceptional, every bite was delicious.
I was spoilt with a happy birthday surprise also delicious
A.
Was very much looking forward to it, but I was a little bit disappointed. The service is great, atmosphere was warm and welcome. But food was average.. I have vw hat the witness said popular pasta dish. It was too salty that I can't finish. Bread come with the salad was too hard..
M.
A beautiful restaurant, food is magnificent, a fabulous wine selection. Staff goes above and beyond. Certainly coming back!
J.
Awesome restraunt, had a good time with my friends. They really liked it. The staffs were kind and sweet and the food delicious :)
I think it's reasonable price as considering they change the menu almost everyday.
alittle bit expensive but worth it.
L.
Good food, good service. Very busy during lunch. Wouldn't say it brings me back to Italy but one of best available locally! Pictured is scampi pasta - they change their menu seasonally.
P.
Service: 5+ stars
Food: 4.5 stars
Beautiful restaurant which offers incredibly attentive service. They were happy to take our bags (we were on our way to the airport) while we ate.
We had a few items off the menu but the aria Tua Fritta was my favorite (order if you like dill). Oysters were also beautiful!
We arrive 30min before our booking and we’re accomodated immediately.
Payment was quick and effortless (although PayPass would be a great addition).
Booking recommended.
S.
Friendly staffs and well designed environment, good place for company function, celebration or even casual dining with excellent pasta which is hand made freshly, Highly recommend the king fish salad and seafood pasta.
g.
This place gets super super busy!! But the decor is gorgeously rustic and homey, I especially appreciate how it's loud asf in there but sound doesn't bounce off all the walls so that it's even louder and echoey😂
Service is also really sweet, they were wonderful and quick.
Food and drinks were so so good, but having said that they are on the expensive side (for good reason), but I just wish we had bigger portions😭😭 My friend is a complete twig compared to me, but portions were so small that she said she could've finished everything on her own no worries😌
Everything else tho😖💯
A.
Auckland’s iconic restaurant serving modern Italian-inspired New Zealand food.
Food is solidly good though perhaps not spectacular. Details by dishes below:
- Seared swordfish – cold dish of lightly seared swordfish with acidic refreshing accompaniments. This was a hit and miss on our table. I personally quite like the dish for its freshness which provides a good balance to the other dishes we ordered. But other people felt like it was too mild / boring.
- Crayfish pasta – chunky pieces of crayfish filled ravioli with savory sauce. I quite like this dish though I would like the pasta slightly more cooked and the sauce to seep in a bit more into the crayfish (now fees a bit separated). Nonetheless a solid dish.
- Oyster Fritter – an interesting take on oyster by deep-frying with egg. A yummy fun dish
- Grilled eggplant – a side dish – eggplant grilled perfectly and seasoned with olive oil. A nice side though perhaps a bit oily.
- Seared Lamb Chop – very well-cooked though could have used a bit more fragrant and tenderness. The accompanying yogurt sauce provides a refreshing accompaniment. Overall, a successful dish.
-Budino (dessert) – raspberry provides a good twist to this classically chocolate dessert. Good but probably not as good as the food.
Solid wine, beer and cocktail selection. Good spot for all occasions – dates, meetups with friends, family gatherings
Venue is converted from an old warehouse but is glamorously renovated into a cool modern coffee shop + bar + restaurant with signature bouquets of dry flower from the ceiling.
Moderate pricing and ok service.
E.
From food to pastries, the environment even the toilets this place is a five star. Love it so much. Dont even think about it just come once and you will definitely be back. Its so lovely. People working there are also very good.
C.
Delicious food from start to finish and attentive waiting staff. Beef capaccio was delicious as was the octopus, foccacia, squid. Everything marvelous!
J.
The valhorna hot chocolate is the best! I had an avocado toast that was very tarty but the ommelete was nothing special. Coffe is ok. The building is very nice and the toilets are remarkable clean and well presented.
F.
Our go to every time we are in Auckland the last min.5yrs. Amano never disappoints, whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner. No limit for details are spared from service, to atmosphere, to bathroom touches. Keep up the great level of service.👌
W.
Just been here the once for breakfast and can’t wait to go back. Diverse menus and flavours are fantastic! The coffee was great (double shot flat white) it’s a more expensive than you average cafe but you are getting an excellent experience
J.
The bread was great. Ordered sweet potato sourdough today. Tastes how its supposed to taste like :) there was also a restaurant linked to the bakery. There also were many desserts to choose from. A little parking near the area though.
L.
Love relaxing at Amano with my gorgeous daughter. It's lively and it adds a bit of sparkle to the evening. Great service, lovely young staff, perfect coffee.
N.
Amazing pastas and wine, enjoyed every bite. Steak was perfectly cooked. Flavours on point. Service was great.
W.
Yumm.. The chitarra, Scampi pasta dish is to die for. Very attentive and friendly staff and great quality delicious food pretty much guarantees a wonderful dinner out. Make sure you ask for some freshly baked breads that was made in house at the bakery section to munch on while waiting for your orders. Very very highly recommended. Booking is a must as seats fill up very fast even on week nights for dinner.
s.
It was a complete dining experience. The warm atmosphere complemented the exquisit food perfectly. Items were mainly chosen from the seafood and sides menu. Notable mentions the Octopus and the Sweetcorn dishes.
J.
6 big stars out of 5. every food was so delicious. comes with good service
V.
Great location, ample of variety in bakery items, pasta, vegetarian and dairy based food. Lots of cheese, butter and oil in servings. I wish to have few low fat options. Friendly staff, nice ambiance. Reservations recommended during breakfast and brunch hours.
C.
Wonderful service and beautiful food in a bustling gorgeous room. Amano is an excellent choice for a working lunch, coffee, catch up with your friends and family or for a lone meal at their high tables. Highly recommend Amano. Special mention to the exceptional service received from waiter Edmundo.
R.
Lovely space - clean, spacious, different options for seating (except outside) and staff really look after you. I've only been here for brunch so need to do dinner next time. The bakery is also a bonus which has delicious pastry - sweet and savoury - on offer. You can add items from the bakery to your brekkie/brunch order. Featured below is the Bolognese on toast with an added poached egg (no longer on the menu) and the prosciutto, potato hash, chilli, poached egg with avocado added (I'd totally order this again!).
山.
absolutely fantastic atmosphere.
of course food is awesome.
most important thing is that...
super delicious almond croissant ever i had
W.
Really great atmosphere and attentive service.and beautiful food. I love the ambience. Nice chat with the people next to us. The atmosphere just lends itself to easy mixing and eating. Love it.
Had the scampi and chargrilled cauliflower. Cauliflower was perfectly cooked and that chargrilled flavour tops it off. Scampi was equally delicious. I would have loved the sauce to be sauteed a tick more just to really embed that seafood flavour. Yum nevetheless
R.
This is an amazing restaurant in the vibrant Britomart area of the Auckland CBD. If you're looking for exquisite food, excellence in service, a fantastic 'vibe' and atmosphere then look no further than Amano. Nothing beats the evening meals in our opinion. And why not call back in for an exceptional brekkie or takeaway pastry & coffee the next morning - seriously delicious. We can't wait to be back soon. Kia Kaha Amano Team.
k.
Walked in, no reservation no hazel
Great wine, awesome atmosphere amazing food...
They are just so good at what they do, the people the service and I treasure them.
I asked for a ”Tequila boom “ just amazing how they have done their research and came back with the perfect serve..
Thank you guys for what you do..
Keep it up please.
w.
Pastry was very crisp but in general all the baked goods we got were below average.. I think expectations may have been too high.
J.
Great place to dine in, nice decor and reasonable price. I got recommendation from staff what to have which worked perfectly for me from starter to main and wine. It was really nice.I would definitely try for lunch next time.
L.
Great and comfortable ambience with delectable food for everyone. My family and I enjoyed our visit to Amano. We also celebrated a birthday here.
S.
Ordered takeaway Amano for a lockdown treat. Unbelievable value for two at $79 - four absolutely delicious dishes, it was OUTSTANDING. Bravo Amano!
Can't wait until you're open again to dine in.
R.
Best French breakfast in Auckland! The place is very artistic 👌. Good customer service.
A.
An awesome and stylish restaurant in Auckland CBD. Lots of space and air, friendly personal, delicious dishes. There is a perfect bakery where you can buy some bread and amassing desserts. Will definitely recommend to all my friends and relatives. Thank you guys. Everything awesome.
C.
This a really good restraint, all 3 dishes was delicious and the desert was outstanding.
I'll definitely come here again.
Highly recommend.
R.
Great ambience and service. Would highly recommend the chargrilled lamb, carrot, preserved lemon & goat’s cheese. The lamb was cooked to perfection and had a crisp skin. All the dishes were served at the same time, nice work. The pacific oysters and stracciatella also were really good as well.
R.
This was some of the best food I have had in a long time. It was tasty and very well thought out, each element added to the dish. I was just sorry I was on my own and could not taste more. I sat at the counter and watched the team work. Well recommended!
K.
We chose Amano for our group dinner on the basis odtthe strong reviews, and we were not disappointed! Fantastic atmosphere, attentive yet not intrusive service, but the food - outstanding. Two of our group had the Gnocci and one had the Pappardelle, and both dishes were sublime. I would thoroughly recommend coming to find out what Amano are all about.
G.
Amano do $12 pasta for lunch! If you don’t know, now you know!!
This is available from the bakery section of the restaurant and it’s worth everyone $1 of those $12! I think this is awesome value for a place like Amano, who make their pasta in house.
I had the meat pasta which had a tomato sauce with pork! The sauce was perfect with a little bit of spice and the pork was 10/10!
I waited 10mins for the pasta which I loved because then I knew it was made fresh!
The portion was ideal for me but I imagine someone with a bigger appetite, like my husband, would say it wasn’t enough!
Would recommend!!
P.
Believe the hype about the taste of the food - it was really good. Wouldn't mind the main portions being slightly larger though. The side of brussell sprouts was massive - would've been happy if our mains were that large.
Expensive, but would recommend and return for a special occasion.
The venue itself is quite large and crowded, even on a weeknight, and a bit on the noisy side - not sure if they could install noise cancelling acoustics.
C.
Modern style Italian food, menu changes daily but some good flavour combinations. Service was a bit slow but we were seated on a table of 13 and food was served all at once which I thought was impressive.
b.
Delicious mains, great dessert and excellent service.
Do not hesitate in making a booking to go here, you will not be disappointed!
A.
The tua tua spaghetti was not bad, Lots of clams which I quite like
Also tried the burrata was quite special and taste good
Boyfriend really like the focaccia
Nice customer service and deco
S.
Omg this place is amazing! Great food, ambiance, service. Oh and did I mention the food is incredible?!!! It’s so good that my boyfriend and I went 3 days in a row for breakfast and dinner while on holiday in Auckland. Would highly recommend!
S.
100% The best restaurant and bakery in downtown Auckland. The olive and rosemary loaf of bread is my fav, and they kindly pre slice it for you to take home. The lunch specials are cheap and scrummy. The whole dining experience at the restaurant is full pleasure and delight (food, service, ambience, bathrooms, etc). A+++++
J.
Average for me. After reading so many of wonderful reviews, I don't understand why they're so good. We ordered lamb and one of the pasta from the menu. Both are ok. I think little bit overpriced.. especially pasta. Drink was ok too. The restaurant was busy so it was loud. I don't think I would come back again.
S.
Wow, what an amazing dining experience! Food was great and atmosphere was even better! Wait, there’s still something better yet... the price was not going to break your wallet! The fact that they priced their seafood mostly below NZ$30 (2018 AUG) is something rare in Auckland, let alone the atmosphere and quality of food!
M.
Great place, pretty busy during the lunchtime. Food and service are both good, delicious. Strongly recommended.
D.
Wow what an amazing bakery/restaurant 3rd time here this week, the coffee is Devine, pizzas are yummy & so are salads, very reasonable price, ambiance is pleasant, love the olive oil & carbonate water, toilets are clean & posh. Called in here on Monday 20 May 2019 wif Henry Makene after a gym workout & back again today Saturday 25 May 2019
C.
decided to dine her for a special night , it all started off well with friendly staff who made ordering very easy
Unfortunatly it took nearly 45mins for the food to come out
I had ordered the Waygu witlof with parsley and Chilli sauce , it looked amazing when it came out and the first few bites where perfect , unfortunatly most of it fromt there on was very chewy and grissley
My partner got an Oyster to accompany her Raw fish Salad
the oyster looked as if it had been frozen and thawed just before serving
and the fish was chewy and still had some scales on it and was over powered by the Fejoia seasoning
We ordered a side of Potatoes with Mint butter which was the only thing we really couldnt fault.
Our experience was further faulted by the couple seated next to us who Downed 2 bottles of wine rapidly followed by a conversation that got progressively louder and louder
R.
Been here for breakfast a few times ... lovely organic ingredients makes for a great meal
The bakery is to die for
Just had dinner here tonight
Pate was lovely
Brussel Sprouts and Beetroot salad were my favorites
One of my companions said the Fish was the best she'd had in years
C.
The wait had always put me off of dining here, but there’s a good reason for it! The food was flavourful, the decor matched the rustic aesthetic of the food and I would recommend trying to go at an off peak hour if you hate waiting like me.
N.
Everything tasted so good that we ended up going there twice in a week.
J.
Good restaurant, good food and friendly stuff. Love their open kitchen!! Usually pretty busy, so reservation is recommended.
J.
Food was great, same as the atmosphere. They also happily plated the food on two plates. Unfortunately part of our order was missed and we had to wait quite a bit for it to arrive but otherwise all great.
p.
lively and amazing atmosphere. the food was delicious and tasty, customer service was great.
d.
Busy as usual.this place has been opened for few years now but still look as new, well done.menue has changed since i visited last time, dish i ordered was a bit too salty and oily. my friends look fine thou.
S.
Excellent! I got recommend from my friend that if I want a very good Italian food I must go there so I try today and that's true. I try #CrayfishTortellini $34, #ChargrilledPork $32 and #ChargrilledAsparagus $12. Actually I would like to try a long pasta but I don't know how to call it hahaha :) so I just pick one and it's tortellini. When all dishes came, all look good and all seriously delicious. Also, the service is good. All staff are friendly and always pay attention to customers. The place is also beautiful decoration. Just 1 thing, in my opinion who is a student is the price is quite high for me when compare to the size of meals received (Maybe the cooking process for my order are complicate). Anyway, I still impress & I'll keep this place to be a prize for myself.
C.
So much fun. Staff were lovely. Octopus was so delicious. Great drinks list was great. Highest of recommendations
R.
Food was very nice but was pricey? Excellent service particularly by Jaya. Overall it was a very good evening experience to celebrate my son's graduation.
I.
Excellent place to enjoy a rich and fresh breakfast.
Located in the CBD, this place offers a warm atmosphere, with good atmosphere, music, quality of food and pleasant service by the staff.
It is easy to reach and has a spacious lounge, it is highly recommended 🤙
D.
Another Stella venue for the Hip Group. We frequented Rosie last night and today spent many hrs at the Amano venue. Great inventive food, service spot on and the wine , varied. It’s hard to be picky with these venues but if I tried, I’d say no Australian wines??
Other than that, food 8 out of 10 , thanks for making our trip to Auckland mems
L.
Amano is my favorite restaurant in Auckland. Really good food, always good service and good price for the food. I probably go there more than I should but it’s only because it makes me feel comfortable and it’s that place you know what you’re getting. They change the menu quite often too so you never get borred. Recommend!
J.
Really hit the jackpot! Delicious food, good options, and plenty of very efficient staff to look after all our needs! Excellent!
K.
Beautiful vibe at Amano. Food was delicious (had dinner) and fine dining prices but not over priced. Will be going back too. During the day they also have the most incredible bakery... don't visit that too hungry as the selections are unreal! Coffee is good too!
S.
Beautiful food and very good service. Make sure you book as this place is popular.
M.
Original and Creative! Increidibly original place. The presentation of every plate was amazing. The taste and the mixture of different ingredients makes the best experience!
L.
So I just met the cutest boi while having the best meal so far during my stay in NZ... I had a burrata and a gnocchi and I was eating alone by the bar.
The food was so good I finished all of them by myself and a waiter came to me and said "Did you just eat all of that? Wow. I'm surprised." He should be because I look really petite 😆
Yeah and while I was eating there's this real cute male Korean bartender (who also took my order), and watching him bartending was just satisfying. Then he dropped one of his mixing cups in front of me and had me startled, but he just kept apologizing and apologizing which made him even cuter. When I went to get the check later I ran into him again and he literally bowed at me saying thank you so so much for comming. I was blushing so hard. He just made my day.
Now I'm in a hotel fangirling over him writing this review while smiling. Such a special experience.
W.
Great restaurant and bakery with a cool theme operated by Britomart hospitality group.
The menu changes often and it gets busy so make sure you book if you wanna table on the weekend. Great coffee and croissant's too!
B.
Great food and drinks. Amazing bread and healthy vegetables fruit drinks. Good service and affordable 👌
A.
Just arrived and we went to Amano after a quick Google search.
Everything was just amazing. From the oysters and kingfish crudo to the pictured short rib and lamb.
We ordered local beers and wine which were a great accompaniment to dinner.
For dessert a salted caramel gelato could not be rejected.
A great end to a wonderful meal. Well priced and will be back for sure next visit.
M.
If you are searching for a place where you can try very good, well cooked, delicious dishes, I definitely recommend you this wonderful place! We ordered Lamb, Flounder and the Straberry salad and each dish surprised us. Very tender Lamb with goat cheese, asparagus, basil. Amazing Flounder with tomatoes and Grenobloise sauce and the very interesting Straberry salad! 👌🏻👍🏻
V.
Wow. Great atmosphere. Fresh and locally sourced ingredients used. Highly recommended.
J.
Great food and amazing service! You have to stay for dessert
B.
Absolutely perfect dining experience with immaculate service, food and atmosphere, a definite return and I can't wait to try the bakery
S.
Good food but it is recommend to book the table in advance.
Busy restaurant and the waiter may not serve 100% (too busy).
Overall, still good....
K.
I went with a friend. Ordered pasta, it was great but its a bit pricey for the portion. Nice experience tho.
J.
My favorite restaurant in Auckland, amazing food and the menu changing all the time!! Highly recommended!!
J.
Not been here for a loooong time 🥺
- my loss and will not make that mistake again!! Went midweek lunchtime and the place was full!
Food is excellent full of flavor and pasta made freshly made! Service is prompt, friendly and knowledgeable.
Would recommend booking a table in advance - I hope you enjoy it as much I did!
C.
Food was amazing. A not to be missed experience.
E.
Super busy all the time I visit here. It’s nearly impossible to get a table without booking, yet counter seats are available for smaller groups. Service and greeting are reasonably organised. Most of the time everyone here is very nice, efficient, and quick.
The type of food they serve is on a bit of an ethnic side, but most of the dishes are nicely presented and enjoyable. The pastry is phenomenal so it’s worth the waiting time, or you could drop off by for the bakery!
N.
Fantastic food. All the vegetarian dishes were great. An enjoyable evening.
S.
Always 5 star - this place has thought about everything to do with customer service, tge experience is exceptional. When it comes to the food - simply put, this is the prize gem in a heavy crown of fine dining, absolutely everything I have ordered delivers massive flavour and taste at a sensational price point that leaves you thinking 'How do they do that' - if yoy have not been, go - if you have been, you know why I'm writing this - Bravo Amano 🙏
금.
I had bolognese with poached egg. Overall good. BUT salty. Except that, I really liked how they care about texture by putting the dried fat. It made dish really interesting.
K.
I visit Amano almost daily! The bakery selection is incredible and the coffee matches. Would highly recommend a l'epi (bread twist) or Amano toast with your choice of toppings. At lunch they often have pastas and salads available to takeaway which are beautiful!
M.
If only i could rate this restaurant 10 starts.
The service is amazing, the food is so fresh, cocktail are so yummy and the ambiance is 10/10. So far the best service i had in Auckland. Thanks Amano
J.
The food was delicious, staff pleasent and professional, and the style of modern/rustic is excellent and very unique.
G.
Great atmosphere, close to the bus stop and amazing service at their most busy. Was served sparkling water while waiting for the rest of my friends at the entrance. Only had drinks but would love to try their food sometime if this is the service one gets.
K.
Normally go here for breakfast at their store. Lunch menu is great, it looks like a small serving but it's quite filling. They have a restaurant as well as a store for takeout. Coffee is great, food is good. Except maybe the omelette (photo) it was $20 and it wasn't worth it..it didn't even come with toast and it was watery because of the capsicum. It is a little bit pricey but that's a norm for a britomart restaurant.
D.
Love this place! great atmosphere, great food, great service. Currently my favourite place for lunch in central Auckland.
S.
Fancy and stylish place. I only had coffee here, but I would love to come back (without kids!). Staff tried to be patient with our noisy one-year-old and had some colouring in for my daughter, but it is clearly not a place for little ones. Coffee was good.

One of the best restaurants in Auckland CBD. atomsphere, service and food are all excellent.
J.
Excellent service, fantastic coffee, and delicious food. Plus the actual restaurant is very cool.
T.
The environent was good, and the staffs were nice.
The dishes were fresh and delicious, esp. the lamb dish. Highly recommended.
C.
a fancy cool restaurant, awesome food and drinks and lovely staff! just great! thank you guys!!!
F.
Chocolate is not too sweet but taste great. Ordered a full breakfast form the menu n a hot sandwich from the front bakery. Great!
A.
Book in advance or turn up early to get a table. They usually fill up by 6 in winter. Good service, slow food. Expect to have at least 2 rounds of drinks here (while waiting for your food) unless you order the sharing plates to be served all at once. The parmesan bruschetta is super yum! Their bar seats are surprisingly comfy and give a much better view of the open space.
H.
Combine the comfortable and modern interior design well, particularly chose all the natural materials including the big bunch of dry flowers and wood to add the comfortable connection with people directly.
A.
Spectacular food, friendly and attentive staff, great wine selection yes, yes, yes. Loved it so much we went twice in a three night stay in Auckland. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
M.
Listed as one of the best restaurants in Akl. I have to agree. Everything I tried was very tasty. The highlights for me were the bruschetta entree, beetroot n macadamia side and the chocolate budino dessert! Yummy! I can't forget my mandarin rum cocktail.
GF n DF options; no alcoholic cocktail options.
Very good service and ambience. Generous portions. Very good value for money. I recommend and I will come back again.
L.
Amano is probably my favourite restaurant in city. Their food never disappoints. Always come here for lovely brunch and dinner:)
A.
Very pretty restaurant food is good. Wish I could read the menu without having to google the ingredients
H.
My all time go-to place. Very friendly service and they have the best pasta dishes in town.
J.
Excellent as always. One of my go-to spots in the Britomart area.
T.
Beautiful restaurant, great customer service. Food is not bad and would like to try their other stuff
C.
Exquisite food! Absolutely divine. Wish there were more vegan options though!
B.
Love this place, not too formal, not too casual. So good place for the special day like wife's birthday or anniversary. Sometimes I brought my 2years old boy, it's okay but kinda boring for baby. But still one of my best restaurants.
S.
These two were recommended by staff and were so good!
G.
I had very high expectations for this restaurant but was not overly impressed. The menu was very basic with not many vegetarian options and overly expensive. The waitress that we got was very friendly but I could see that a lot of the other staff seemed a bit rude; they were not smiling at all. When i got my food it was okay but very very rich i could only eat half, i don't think i would return back to this restaurant again but the bakery was amazing and the food there was good.
L.
This place is always buzzing with people and the ambiance is wonderful. Make sure you reserve for lunch/dinner if you come with a bunch of people. The food and drinks are extraordinary and the service is top-notch. Were able to get some food from the bakery and eat in the restaurant which was extremely convenient.
B.
The gnocchi was so pillowy, the meat sauce was so savory, and even the side of broccolini was perfectly cooked.
Very crowded, even on a Wednesday night, so try to make a reservation if possible.
E.
A very trendy restaurant in Auckland ! Fresh ingredients and lovely service. A must visit place in town.
R.
As we often eat here and it's always great we don't think about leaving a review. But after another great meal I think its important to offer to feedback re service. It was great. Everything you want in a waitress. Well done for your continued effort to keep the bar high. Makes a dining experience that much more enjoyable.
Great daily menu and good wine list.
D.
Very nice for dinners and lunch but their bakery foods is not very good for their pastries.
T.
Hot on everyone's list Amano gets busy fast. The Scampi was delightful, fragrant with flavors that entice you to take another bite.
The table settings were comfortable and spacious.
When busy, the service struggles to keep up with each station, the meals came separately to the table, the first persons meal was finished before the next persons meal was served. The bar was woeful with cocktails taking an age to arrive on top of this the desert cocktails arrived well after desert had finished. Some menu items unavailable as an ingredient had run out.
A shame really as the ambience is relaxing, rustic and deserving of much better service. The table should not have been empty of food to really complete the experiance, we left feeling like we had been to the movies, with no popcorn, no ice cream had been asked to leave before the end of the movie.
M.
Exceptional dining! Beautiful lunch. Had the flounder and the lamb! So good!
J.
Fantastic hand made pasta. Get the basic one with tomatoes - all the flavours really shine through when a simple dish is made so well.
A.
Good quality food in a great setting.
Recommendations:
Their Bran loaf breakfast is a refreshing treat, or
Their granola is a tasty very generous portion
B.
Great coffee, good service, and a great chic dining space.
O.
The place is really beautiful and service was good. Flavour wise it was good too. Nothing particularly memorable but not bad at all. It's a hip fancy watering hole.
P.
My most favourite place in Auckland to grab a coffee and a pastry. The quality rivals what you'd find in Europe and there's great ambience.
H.
Seriously one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Every cent is worth it. Thnx 😎
T.
Had ordered a contactless take away yesterday ! Crudo, Boar fish and a dessert ! Absolutely divine ! Would recommend ! Thank you guys !
S.
beautiful environment and nice food! this place is very suitable for group and family
C.
Nice, cosy atmosphere. Good place for a coffee catch up.
Celebrated Father's Day with my family, elder son's treat. The place was packed. 3 male adults & 1 female adult. We ordered to share the gnocchi, the Wagyu, & the lamb shoulder(below), which took awhile but was well worth the wait. I particularly enjoyed the pickled red onions & cauliflower that accompanied the lamb. Nice balanced acidity to the meatiness of the tender, fall-off-the bone lamb shoulder. Side dish: chargrilled broccolini was yum too. The waitresses serving us were also excellent. All in all, a good experience! Thank you!
B.
Cannot fault anything here, the cheese is amazing, the pasta is amazing, and the seafood mixed into it all throws a good dash of kiwi into it. Great burrata and sourdough.
S.
The atmosphere is so great. The staff have the lovliest smiles and demeanor and it was great that they offered to have the chef make me a gluten free roast beef. The chutney in it was divine. If I had to fault one thing it would be the gluten free bread having been in the freezer was ice cold and crumbly. Look forward to trying it toasted next time.
R.
Beautiful food and wonderful vibe. Always a treat to be here.
P.
Amazing menu, friendly staff and awesome food + vibes. Had the most amazing Kombucha.
A.
Great service, nice atmosphere. Food was delicious and beautiful, but the cocktails were only so-so.
L.
Had the saffron paccheri with scampi and tried some of the crayfish tortellini. Both were delicious - though a little pricey given portion sizes. Nice ambience and great service
S.
Enjoyed a fabulous meal last night. No booking but after only a short wait at the bar ( no hardship!) we got a table really promptly. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Had the pork rillettes and trevalli crudo to start and then both had different pasta dishes as mains. As we were seated at the bar we asked the advice of the staff who matched our dishes with wine choices perfectly. Loved, loved loved!
J.
Great food, and we really enjoyed our time here. The pastries were delicious, and I would really recommend a visit here. The coffee was hot and tasted nice, and the staff were friendly, welcoming and made our time great.
J.
Beautiful and spacious, Amano is just such a superb choice for brunch, lunch or dinner. Stretching to reach both sides of the city block, you’re sure to get a booth table if you try but sitting up at the bar is also a treat. Worst case Amano’s in House bakery will ensure you don’t leave empty.
The known recommendation for breakfast is the Burnt Leek and Goats Cheese omlette, and it is thoroughly worth it. Simple but beautifully presented it will fill you up, but sha’n’t leave you bloated.
Amano’s coffee offerings will keep even the greatest local snobs very satisfied with succulent flavours in the crema, and dangerously good chocolate in the mochas. But why settle for just coffee when Amano has a full list of delicious juices, smoothies, teas (hot and cold) among other tonics to leave you happy.
Go here for the food and enjoy as much time comfortably tucked into a booth seat as possible.
L.
Excellent place to enjoy brunch. A really nice vibe.
L.
Friendly and prompt service. Had a delicious crayfish tortellini but below expectation chargrilled octopus.
R.
Great restaurant with nice buzzing atomsphere, the menu is extensive and refreshed daily. Food is beautifully presented, delicious food. The chocolate budino rhubarb dessert was amazing
M.
An excellent restaurant. A high quality meal with very nice staff.
J.
Here to Have some deserts. All deserts I had were super great great and great! Will try a meal next time.
P.
Top quality food and service; very interesting sophisticated menu, definitely a highly recommended restaurant to visit when you are in Auckland. All local fresh produce, I had the oysters and fish.
Y.
Have been here a few times for both lunch and dinner.
Most of the staff here are very friendly and courteous.
Prices are reasonable to slightly high given the location and quality of food. In terms of quantity though, could definitely be more.
Overall, good atmosphere and well presented.

Amazing Food
“Octopus”
G.
You get a two hour meal slot and the service speed isn't up to it. Feels rushed and although the food is nice it is not excellent.
H.
Amazing food, amazing decor, amazing service. Such a nice place with healthy and delicious options. The kahawai fish and the handkerchief pasta were both really good.
A.
I wanna go back tomorrow because i forgot the photos of my food lol.
I went back thr next day totally enjoyed Brunch
J.
It tastes good. It's worth a visit
D.
They have Sassicaia 2014 that paired well with the Ribeye. Ribeye was cooked perfectly with a great outside char. Perfect lighting for date night. My recommendation for dessert, please ask for dark chocolate sorbet and the strawberry puff pastry. Eat together and enjoy your night.
F.
Amazing food and service! The pastas are so tasty and vegetables as well as the king fish
h.
We were there earlier this week for dinner. Great service and fantastic food. We had Seedlip with Mandarin and Tuscany Merlot for drinks along with Raw Kingfish and eggplant with mozzarella for starters followed with lamb shoulders and steak for mains. We round up the evening with their version of Tiramisu. All in all a great experience. Will definitely go back.
D.
Great fit out, very friendly staff and utterly fantastic food.
Very good modern itialian.
L.
They make the best sourdough bread. Great coffee, lovely staff, very friendly.
D.
The staff was very welcoming from the time I stood at the door.
The place was super busy, but they did took very good care of me and my friend.
The service was quick and good and the food amazing.
Definitely coming back, will make sure to make a booking tho.
A.
Amano’s food was fabulous and the interior of the restaurant is gorgeous! Unfortunately they had ran out of the Tautua Spaghetti but we tried the Tagliatelle Warehou and it was absolutely delicious! Prepare to wait for a long queue if you haven’t booked! We waited over an hour for our table!
E.
My first encounter with Amano was 2 years ago with their bakery. It was amazing. Then we finally got to visit and dine last night. The ratings and thousands of reviews actually got us expecting and really excited. The ambiance and service were superb. The food though, we’ve had better. Specially with one dish we ordered with such a price tag. The 4th star was all about the ambiance and service.
V.
One of my favorite restraurant for brunch of all time.
R.
We have been here 100’s of times, for breakfast, lunch and dinner and never had a bad experience. The location is perfect with a great atmosphere and the food is always amazing.
B.
Service was good, food was good... Good I've been there. Where to next....
S.
Breakfast was stunning! And the cocktails were bloody good too
S.
Excellent service and lovely food. Amano team are great communicators. Thank you for managing to get us a table at an earlier time. Our waiter was helpful and nicely attentive and he is another reason we will be back. Thank you
W.
Beautiful food and friendly staff. It's very large but filled with people on a rainy Monday evening. There's a nice buzzing sound with good music, but never too loud for an intimate conversation between guests. Can't fault anything. Highly recommended. Will definitely be back.
S.
Well baise moi, if the Pain Au Chocolate isn’t a little slice of delicious French heaven - I dont know what is. I applaudir the pastry chef at Amano
C.
Well worth the visit and the food was great and we had a lovely waitress but forgot to get her name. She is from Holland and made my little girl who is 11 feel part the of party and was kind enough to explain and repeat the dessert specials. The service is second to none and we all felt welcomed and kept happy with the food speed and the quality of cocktails. Will visit again.
r.
Really good pasta and the ambiance is nice too.
A.
We were welcomed into a beautiful restaurant by a very friendly Maitre D'. The atmosphere was amazing and it immediately made us excited to dine there.
We had a party of 7, however were given a table for 6 people so we had to squish around, not so bad as we were so excited to dine here.
Our waitress was friendly, however she was very slow. Drinks took forever to get to our table, and we had to remind her to fill our glasses of wine (we had bought a bottle).
The food was great. The only average dish was the octopus, which was a bit bland. However everything else was absolutely delicious. Highlight of the night was the scampi pasta dish and the scallops.
Once we got to dessert, our whole night went completely downhill.
A server brought over two cocktails we had ordered and spilt one all over my sister. When I spoke to the manager about it, his answer was "Oh that doesn't happen often, Im sure it wasn't on purpose."
Well I'd hope not?
This manager was so blasée about the situation, that he repeatedly asked "well what do you want me to do??"
Luckily, the night was saved by a second manager, Ricky, who brought us a free limoncello each and wiped our deserts off the bill. Honestly, we weren't looking for anything for free, just some compassion to what had happened.
I think Amano would be a great place for two people to share some drinks and a nibbles, but don't go if you're wanting a flawless night out.
R.
A beautiful large restaurant downtown with wonderful decorative dried flower ceiling hangings. Exquisite food and impeccable service. Great music at a nice volume so it doesn't drown the conversation. It only lost a star because of the many stairs to the toilets! There is a disabled toilet on the ground floor though.
H.
Totally fabulous food and fabulous staff. Eat in or takeaway. Reservations recommended for peak times.
D.
Stunning food, fresh beautiful flavours, great cocktails and friendly professional service
N.
Great food and atmosphere. Got the whole flounder, which was really fresh and delicious. Would recommend.
P.
Very good service. Lovely breakfast.
M.
Had the chocolate gelato, Yummy. Nice that they serve sparkling water as the norm.
W.
Brilliant food, amazing service and staff, overall an extremely enjoyable experience
J.
What an awesome place to be, star for the staff, so friendly, very helpful, very chatty, awesome atmosphere, modern deco, great bar, variety drinks menu, food is amazing, we had great time dinning here
H.
Tasty fresh pasta. There is a reason why their reviews are high. The pasta was flavorful. Service was excellent.
Z.
Fantastic food and service. Lovely attention to detail in both the meals and the decor. Will definitely come again.
Y.
The brussel sprouts are delicious.
E.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Will return.
I.
Excellent service, beautiful decor, superb food!
L.
Amano is my favorite restaurant in Auckland. Really good food, always good service and good price for the food. I probably go there more than I should but it’s only because it makes me feel comfortable and it’s that place you know what you’re getting. They change the menu quite often too so you never get borred. Recommend!
S.
Fancy and stylish place. I only had coffee here, but I would love to come back (without kids!). Staff tried to be patient with our noisy one-year-old and had some colouring in for my daughter, but it is clearly not a place for little ones. Coffee was good.
M.
Just a next level experience. The atmosphere is amazing, really beautiful decor. The food was so good, coffee is great too. Really enjoyed it
C.
The food here are so good!!
Highly recommend for people who visit Auckland.
A.
Nice place if your craving for italian. They have a bakery as well its good!
B.
Food not exceptional, but very good. Great service
J.
Wow this place is stunning and their pastries were amazing! I wish I could have tried everything!
M.
Wow! Very nice al dente spaghetti. The clams were very fresh and i didn't need to wait that long to get served.
E.
Impeccable food, lovely setting. Had to wait a while to get noticed by wait staff despite it not being too busy, but they were very professional and friendly.
H.
Wonderful dining experience, great setting, amazing food and great service!!
V.
It’s been a few times that I enjoyed my time here. The food is always great, good drink menu and desserts are always exceptional. A must dine in place in Auckland
R.
Took a very long time to get a seat and then food but It was worth the wait. Cooked to perfection. Meals are a bit small especially after you have had a few drinks waiting.
R.
Great selection of food, and interesting cocktails especially! Their FOH staff are really professional, easy to deal with and gives great recommendations. We've ordered the steak (which was cooked to perfection!); and mozzarella foccacia de recco (which were sumptuous and leaves you wanting for more). The vibe was warm, inviting-- so whether you're out on a date night, or a night out with friends, this is a place to be. 100% will come back.💯
A.
Great place, fresh food and awesome ambiance..
M.
Just a next level experience. The atmosphere is amazing, really beautiful decor. The food was so good, coffee is great too. Really enjoyed it

3rd July 2021
We enjoyed an amazing meal and wonderful service, thank you to Erin for organizing the birthday cake , lemon meringue cake, delicious. Thank you also to Liv our waitress for the evening, great attention. We will certainly be back
c.
Both bakery and restaurant are absolutely delicious, well staffed with great service and amazing produce. Reasonably priced for the quality of food you get too! Love everything from the sourdough to almond crossiants to fresh pasta, you can’t go wrong here!
S.
Fantastic food, lovely service and beautiful dining room
G.
Our entrees and mains were delicious but the stars of the show were there desserts for me. Excellent attentive service.
m.
Amano never disappoints, the food is always of a very high standard
B.
Been a regular here for a few years but it's time they change up the menu. Perhaps keep one or two per type for the people who love them but it's time they introduce something new, perhaps even a slight twist to keep it fresh. Aside from that, service, ambience and quality remains consistent and high.
S.
This chicken liver should be the best in Auckland. Always full booked. Recommended.
Y.
I have been to this place for at least 3-4 times and each of the experience is always awesome, 5++ star!! They are able to cook their pasta to perfection! Their menu is smart!! I even tried to order their lettuce salad, which I will expect to be so so, buttt, it was awesome, they could combine it with somethinf that end-up cruncy, fresh, and full of flavour!!
You should try their pasta... any of their pasta menu... they are all so nice, al dente, tasty.. nyum nyum.. nyum...
Love it!
H.
Great Italian food. Good portions for sharing
L.
Good ambience brunch place but a bit pricey.
M.
An absolutely fantastic place, a great experience, amazing food 👍😍
G.
Best pasta we have had in a long time everything was so fresh and delicious! Lovely service and exceptional wine!! A MUST!!
Oh and BEST toilets 🚽!!!!!
M.
Always good. Great ambience and service, good bakery food from their own bakery and good coffee.
J.
I'm not a regular of amano but if i could, i really would. This is beautiful location for having business breakfasts or brunch. Great food and drinks. Wonderful layout of the restaurant and architecture too. Stop by their little pocket bakery next door for a takeaway danish.
J.
Service food ambience, love everything about this place
P.
Always a consistently good place to go for business, takeaways or with the family. Well done Amano.
D.
It was nice,a different atmosphere from our standard restaurant. My charcoal chicken actually didn't have the charcoal flavour.
Good service.
S.
We have been here on many occasions, this restaurant always delivers consistently good food, the service is friendly but professional. Amano is perfectly located in the heart of the city and the decor is superb.
This is one of my favourite in Auckland!
D.
Went here on date night recently and we both loved it.
🔥 Ambiance was terrific
👏🏾 Service was lovely, speedy, and attentive
👩🍳 Food was outstanding
They also did a great job cooking seasonally. We had lots of fresh asparagus and courgette bc that's what's local right now.
All in all, we'd go back ASAP.
E.
a good place for a special occasion, or for anything else; the interior of the restaurant is wonderful and even the bathrooms are lovely. the pasta is beautiful and always varies, though there is definitely room to expand the vegetarian mains on offer. staff are super helpful and you feel properly looked after. perhaps my favourite part is their ceramic crockery, made by Paul Melser. this restaurant is a fine show of aotearoa's craft.
J.
Great service and food
Best pasta I've had in a while
K.
Excellent food and cocktails, and super friendly staff. We had a great time here.
T.
This place never fails as a quick breakfast stop before work. Superb coffee, bacon and egg rolls, and fresh croissants, best in the city. And not as expensive as you could expect given the location and decor. Complementary sparkling water if you have a seat at the counter. Will have to come for the full breakfast menu sometime.
F.
Yo yo yo, you cannot go wrong with a visit to the Amano Deli counter. Fire into that selection of sandwiches knowing that they are all bangers! Some say the spicy chicken is the best but I say if you don't intend to kiss anyone after lunch, GET THE SMOKED FISH SANDWICH!
A.
I had heard lots of great reviews about Amano and I can confirm expectations were met. Our group were passing and decided to try a coffee and a dessert. The trifle was spectacular as was the delicious coffee brought to us by a delightful server. I will be back but next time for more than just dessert.
k.
Was busy in a Sunday but the service was great! The food was amazing too :) hot tip: try the donuts
J.
Just one of Auckland's must go dining experiences, bookings get snapped up, and there's a wait-list for walk-ins speaks for itself! Wife had the lamb recently it was cooked to perfection
L.
Amazing and friendly staff. Food was on point. The only reason it wasn't given a 5 star rating is the rest rooms was up 2 flights of stairs. Alot of the older generation struggled to get up and down those stairs.
Z.
Fantastic food and service. Lovely attention to detail in both the meals and the decor. Will definitely come again.
p.
Was hoping to have lunch here but was pressed for time so just popped in and grabbed a creme brûlée donut and a chocolate almond croissant.
The donut was Lovely with its velvety filling and the chocolate almond croissant was so good. Just give me a bowl full of those toasted slightly caramelised sliced almonds on the top and I’ll be happy.
J.
Excellent food and great atmosphere! The pasta is a bit pricy as the menu is quite basic, but it's no doubt that it's a basic/classic dish done to perfection. Highly recommended.
A.
Delicious! Limited vegetarian options but very tasty :)
A.
Good food - the chocolate bodino was really good. So was the lamb. Good service too...
L.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Highly recommend the focaccia to start
M.
One of the best places to eat in Auckland. Large, open plan setup with high ceilings and the kitchen on show. Best places to sit are in one of the small.corner tables or at the small bar top facing the kitchen. Favourite dishes are the burrata and the chitarra - the pasta is one of the best I've had anywhere. Only downside it is always busy, so make sure to book or face a good 45 minute wait.
A.
Great Italian atmosphere. Awesome food
T.
Love this restaurant when I was visiting their drink and food were amazing!
B.
Amazing restaurant! Food & service are excellent!
P.
The food here is outstanding! I mean mouth-wateringly, gorgeously, delicious. So delicious. And there lots of choice. The menu changes every week so you can keep going back and you'll never run out of choices. There's also a fantastic desert menu and there are some really light deserts that complement the heavier creamy pasta meals. Good choices for vegetarians available too. Awesome atmosphere. This restaurant is as close to perfect as you can get.
L.
Good menu, able to eat GF. Morning sun made our corner a bit uncomfortable but waiter graciously opened a nearby door. (Thank you). Solid quality. Food envy for the non-GF options 😋. Would welcome more GF...
A.
Great food, beautiful place for breakfast, lunch and dinner or just yummy coffee with friends and family.
B.
Love this place every time we go. Whether it's for a takeaway coffee and pastry or sit down meal, Amano never fails to impress! When dining in, the service is attentive and friendly, the food is delicious and fresh, and atmosphere is great. Worth the wait if you don't manage to secure a reservation (they only book 50% of tables in advance)
W.
Best food ever all fresh products and so good wines.
C.
The food here are so good!!
Highly recommend for people who visit Auckland.
M.
The best meal of our trip in New Zealand.
New Zealand own food but with an original and quality modern way of preparing the dishes.
The staff is very friendly and professional and the atmosphere and decoration is very nice. My husband, my daughter and I have been there, we have eaten a plate of meat, another one of fish and another one of pasta with clams and all three of us have been very satisfied.
S.
Treated myself to dinner here as my first meal in Auckland. Amazing food and wine menu. I highly recommend the steak. Great friendly staff, even though it was busy they were polite and attentive. Great atmosphere to dine solo or in a group!
I.
Food was good. Amano offers 2 hours free parking at Britomart carpark. After we finished our lunch I asked waiter what do I have to do at the carpark but she doesn't know. She gave me receipt only. At carpark no any information as well. Paid $20 for parking. Bad experience with Amano customer service.
S.
Outstanding cocktail and dinner experience. If you can sit at the bar and talk up the staff as they craft cocktails you'll have an enlightening and entertaining night you'll have a hard time finding elsewhere. Staff were were good humor and good company for a date night out. Decor and atmosphere enrich the food.
A.
Beautiful building with delicious food…can’t go wrong ❤️❤️❤️
M.
Definitely the best venue I've eaten at in Auckland. the space, decor, styling of the place is top notch, but for me it was style over substance. I ordered the Prosciutto, smashed potato, chilli & poached egg. To my surprise, there was no bread and there 'poached egg, was literally one tine hard boiled poached egg. Miniscule portion priced at $24. Better options out there by far.
K.
Came here for a few celebratory drinks and was fortunate to find a couple of spare pews at the bar as space was definitely at a premium. There's an air of stuffiness about the place that seems to keep bringing patrons back which is reflected in the attitudes of some of the staff. The food is fanciful and priced accordingly. Good place for groups and recommend booking weeks in advance as it is a very busy establishment. Have eaten here a half dozen times and would return. Experience has been indifferent.
m.
It is an excellent restaurant delicious food and premium service
C.
Yummmmmmm... Always a good feed.. Grilled lamb and chicken.
R.
One of my all time favorites ! Stunning interior reminiscent of old Italy - staff are very professional, always friendly and they certainly add value to the experience. Great bakery for a quick snack, or artisan bread to take home - coffee fab - menus are stunning and a very comprehensive wine list. Can’t say enough good things about this cafe - fast becoming an Auckland icon !
C.
This was our first stop for a meal after arriving in NZ and it had been recommended by someone in a nearby store. A+++. Our trip was off to a good start because of this restaurant! Food and drinks were amazing and the service was just as great too. Central location, with lots to do and see around the area.
G.
Adored my visit. Not only do the staff have a secret vegan menu they will also tell you which wines are vegan (they have a couple by the glass available). A true delight.
K.
If I could, I would rate 3.5. Service and decor were both good. Food was more of a mixed bag. The lamb was decent, albeit the taste of charcoal permeated. The Scampi was also good, but not great. It tasted like a pasta you would get from the Cheesecake Factory (if you're familiar with that chain). Once again not bad, just not great, thus 3.5 stars.
R.
A group of us (15) went there for lunch, place packed as always.
Service was quick and we got showed to our table, four of us ordered the fish, we all agreed that it was way below average, none of us enjoyed it, it seemed the fish was off or was not prepared properly, tasteless with a bit of smell.
Our waitress noticed our displeasure with it and approached us asking about it, she apologised and offered us to get something different form the menu, we declined and carried on.
Amano, dealt with the situation in great customer service, they didn’t charge us for the fish, gave us a voucher and with another apology.
The rest of our party did enjoy their food and highly praised it.
J.
Quality service and ambience. The food turnabout was reasonable during an obviously busy time. Would highly recommend their Spiced Pumpkin cocktail! Ordered their squid dish - was a little disappointed to discover that it was the same size as an entrée dish (for the same price as other listed mains), and would cost $10 extra to upgrade to a main sized dish. Even when upgrading, the portion size seemed quite small and left something to be desired after finishing the squid dish. In saying so, the squid was very well seasoned, super flavourful and delicious. Amano is definitely a restaurant/bar/bakery that is not easy on wallet, smaller sized meals, but tasty nonetheless!
D.
Very cool decor, with rustic exposed beams and lots of marble. Quite a different brunch menu so was a little unsure at first, however the two dishes we had were both delicious and beautifully presented. Also had a lovely beetroot juice and great hot chocolate.
J.
Fantastic. Service is incredible. Everything is so relaxed and flowing. Like a well oiled machine. It's a real pleasure to be in there.
The food was great but not thoroughly remarkable. Honest, well cooked, tasty but nothing blew your socks off. We had 6 dishes and this was consistent across all.
I'd certainly go back and will without hesitation. Can't crush it every time.
S.
Great food and drink, friendly staff ☺️☺️
N.
Really good service, very tasty and slightly different to your average Italian fare
D.
Always great food and great service in an amazing space.

Decent food, but a little pricy compared to some of the others that used to be part of HIPGROUP.
Service isn't quite what I'd expect though - felt a bit unfriendly...
I'll still go back some time, just not too soon!

Delicious food!
We are visiting Auckland with friends for a wedding and wanted to go somewhere nice the night before. Just happened to walk past this place which was super busy and buzzy. The standout was the food - absolutely delicious - can not fault. We had pasta dishes and the steak all cooked to perfection. This place did not die down, we left around 11pm and it was still busy - a good sign.
Only note is that it’s a little on the pricier side, but still quite reasonable and well worth it. Delicious wine selection as well. I would definitely recommend to future visitors of Auckland.

Beautiful pasta dishes that were full of flavour

Lovely atmosphere, great cocktails and the food was amazing - the scampi dish is particularly good. Next time we’re in Auckland we’ll be back!

Right in middle of cbd and near to britomart parking you get to hangout with your friends and enjoy the food and the time that you want to relax.... allow some time to get the table free and enjoy your meal and ask for breads while you waiting at the door 🚪 😉... get you tummy full leave with the big bill and a satisfying meal and provide the tip to staff and appreciation is the reward for youngsters even though your bill rises to hight a small tip is always wise 😉

Dined at Amano last week. We had a group of 10 on a work dinner with a mixture of vegetarians, nut allergy, gluten free and some that didn't like seafood. We ordered a whole mixture of everything and the waitress that was looking after us remembered everyone's preferences after only being told once. Really impressed with the care and attention she showed. The team at Amano exceeded all expectations! Of course the food is exceptional, but the high level or service really made it a fantastic night.

Excellent service, beautiful decor, superb food!

The restaurant itself is mind-blowing. Such an amazing ambience. The food i expected to be as great but it was disappointing personally for me. It looks awesome but everything I tried was so average. Calamari was literally raw and tasted like a seaweed. Ricotta with mushrooms bruchetta lacking flavor. Ravioli was also so weird with that punkin and carrot chunks on the plate. I will not come back because there are way better Italian restaurants in Auckland that has much better menu variety and mind-blowing Italian dishes

This place is awesome. My aunt and I grabbed a nice breakfast here. I had potatoes and an Almond Croissant, which was fantastic and light. My Aunt had the fish paté which was delightful as well. They also serve you complimentary sparkling water which was refreshing. I normally don't drink sparkling water but this place has changed my mind.

A great selection of pastries and sandwiches here. If you are ever in need of a place for lunch within Britomart, I would highly recommend this place, they also do really good coffee too. I'm also in love with their sourdough bread that you can purchase as a loaf, crunchy on the outside but so soft in the middle. Amazing, will be back for more.

Amano is one of the best cafes I have been ever. They have high quality of food with great variety. Amazing customer service with very nice atmosphere. Their toilets are very clean and stylish, similar to a 5 star hotel.
Thank you Amano

Fantastic ambiance and delightful food! Very helpful waiting staff and a busy happy vibe over lunch. Tasty cabinet food as well as an extensive menu to choose from.

We went for a team breakfast there. It was nice and quiet and the ambiance is nice. They don't play loud music like other places. The breakfast menu has nice variety with omelettes to smoked fish and granola. Good is priced at par to any CBD upscale restaurant varying from $13 to $ 24.

Fantastic restaurant, very busy but still able to fit us in. Food was incredible, scampi pasta and lamb rump, very hight standards which is what u want when dining out. Service was the best I have had in a while to be honest, they are very attentive without being annoying
A.
Nice place if your craving for italian. They have a bakery as well its good!
G.
Great place for breakfeast. Very different presentation and original food plates.

Superb menu all year although it changes by season I think. Staff are very friendly and welcoming! If you're after a quick bite the attached bakery is also a treat; you'll be hooked!

Amazing place. The atmosphere is warm, the attention perfect and the food even better. In Auckland is very difficult to find good places where to have a delicious meal and don't pay extremely expensive price. Definitely, I will come back.
As a recommendation, just try the chocolate budino with orange and hazelnuts. It's perfect.

The three of us (including the baby) had a great time here! The service was wonderfully attentive, and the waitstaff were all very friendly - especially with our little one! The food was fresh and delivered very fast, and we were never shy of wine, getting topped up regularly. A beautiful venue also.

We went to the restaursnt yesterday on my partner's birthday. The staff welcomed us with the smile and they hold the table for us for little bit longer for which I am very thankful because usually on busy nights like this, it becomes difficult. The envoirnment was lovely and the food was 10/10. Last but not the least, I would like to thank the staff for their dedication and service. Continue what you guys are doing 👍🏻. Would love to come back soon ☺️

We had exceptional service, delightful food with an upmarket yet welcoming, friendly ambience. At the mere mention of a birthday, we recieved a nice surprise, Happy Birthday written on the dessert with a candle! It is difficult to surpass this experience.

Excellent ambiance, old world warehouse with a modern twist. The menu choices are excellent and the food is very tasty. Excellent drinks menu along with a good selection of non-alcoholic choices. Service was excellent. Toilets also very clean.
Impressively run restaurant, we will be back and highly recommend.

Food was great but we noticed our portions for the pasta were significantly smaller than the table next to us. The service was average (waiters would walk straight past us when we wanted attention, or provide their undivided attention to a customer next to us) and a bit slow at times.

The restaurant building and atmosphere are good. Food is delicious. They use fresh materials and mix a lot of herbals in an integrated fashion. Waiters and waitresses are nice and warm. Overall the service level is pretty outstanding. The only concern for me is the heavy smell. After finished the dinning with friends, I smelled myself like a cooker who just did a heavy meal. Recommend for those who want a good meal. Don’t recommend for those who have other appointments later.

Really nice food, good service and friendly staff

Beautiful restaurant and amazing food, but was lacking in some of the little things that make up a special experience like explaining the menu etc. I’d go earlier in the evening next time.

Love this place and amazing service every time. Most dishes I've eaten here are very delicious, although I have tried a couple of dishes that weren't overly tasty. The plain cheese bread is too oily and I've had a terrible pasta here. Other than this, the bakery is delicious and the desserts are amazing.

This was an event in the industrial space above the restaurant. It's an absolutely fantastic place to have an event

Had a great meal at Amano. The service was as warm as the food was delicious as the design of the space was cool. We had -- and really enjoyed -- the burrata app and the pork main. Both fabulous. Our servers were knowledgeable, personable and fun. Can't wait to go back.

really nice food and super friendly staff. large dining room with lots of options for seating, at the bar, at a table, around a high table... food is great.
the ragu seems popular but the tortellini was nice. the beetroot salad great and the range of beers and wines should tempt everyone. a few cocktails, but mostly this is a wine spot.
waited a few minutes on a Tuesday night at 7.30pm. restaurant was largely full but not too noisy

We had dinner at Amano. Very accomodating with dietary requirements. Wait staff was knowledgeable about the food and produce used. The atmosphere is amazing, the food is beautifully presented and delicious. The lamb ragu is a must try! Loved our experience and would visit again.

Good service, lovely atmosphere, nice cocktails, but honestly the food was barely above average. Unrefined and chunky and clunky. The steak was plain chewy, the ravioli was unusual, thick and not dislocate. Overall nice for one visit but def more of a place to be seen not a place to get high end food.
K.
Food was delicious, really enjoy the atmosphere too. Service was excellent, everyone was friendly and attentive. We had a seven month old baby with us and it was a very pleasant experience. The place was busy but not noisy.
E.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Will return.

The staff members are attentive, friendly, and helpful. The food are yummy, especially their bread and home-made pasta. Their lamb and short ribs are beautiful. Their duck taco is delicious though the portion is tiny. The atmosphere was great and conducive for a great night; though their prices are on the expensive side of the scale. Parking are almost non-existence, unfortunately.

Loved it! Staff were excellent, food was excellent, ambiance was excellent, what more could you ask for.
