Reviews of Baduzzi
S.
This is No. 1 Italian restaurant and the best Italian food I have ever had in my entire life.
The restaurant has soft lighting and peaceful ambient. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
I highly recommend this heaven to anyone and don't forget to order the Tiramisu! 😋
K.
Big big love to Baduzzi! Food and service more than 5 stars. Full of care to customers. I mentioned it is my birthday today. At the end one of the staff brought me surprise cake, touched my heart! Amazed by order the lemon water for both my friend I with hot water and the water was hot from beginning to the end for all the cups. All the food are fresh from the farm feeling and genuine taste from Italy. If there is a 10 star choice I will have all my stars. Thank you Baduzzi!
S.
Food is good, though the prices are high for what you get compared to comparable restaurants. Service is swift. The restaurant is far noisier than a fast food joint and not a place for romance. I've never seen draught Prosecco before 🤣
Y.
I went for my anniversary and after 4 months on lockdown was a really pleasure that my husband choose this place to have our 1st dinner out!! The pasta is the best!! Cacio e pepe is amazing, super fresh and tasty!! The staff was super attentive and friendly!! We'll be back!!
I.
We loved the look of the menu, set up in traditional Italian style with five courses. Shared the early plates, then our own main courses. No room for dessert! The helpings were delicious, although not large to support the five course meal. Staff were friendly and not rushed, but they made several basic mistakes. The waiter very impressively remembered our order, repeating it back perfectly. But he forgot one element by the time he reached the kitchen, so not so impressive. Loved the ambience when we arrived, but it was too noisy by the time we left. We had a lovely evening, only a little spoiled by minor niggles.
S.
The team here are absolutely top class. They were so accommodating for my party of 24 this weekend. The staff here are attentive, welcoming and professional. The food was gorgeous. Highly recommend Baduzzi for a big group or a cute date.
j.
Ordered the lockdown picnic basket and it was amazing (wine not included) their meatballs are the best I’ve ever tasted and everything else was on a similar level
K.
Service was good! Very attentive, had the set menu (pescatarian) as our friend could not eat meat and it was very good! The fish was amazing and dessert was so good too!
C.
Celebrated a 21dt birthday with family. The food was delicious. Had cocktails-pepenero & roseveil. Meatballs were melt-in- you-r mouth lamb & crayfish. Yummy mushrooms and truffle gnocchi, pasta with pecorino cheese and truffles and tender lamb rump with gnocchi.
Y.
We decided to try Baduzzi after reading Jesse Mulligan's review in Viva. When we arrived we felt a bit like we were interrupting a staff meeting even though we had booked a table. Once our waitress came to our table the experience changed for the better. She was lovely and talked us through the menu making recommendations. The food service was fast and we enjoyed all the dishes. The eggplant starter and duck pasta were standouts as were the torta caprese and tiramisu.
P.
Had an amazing experience. Great food, cocktails and atmosphere. It was my partner’s birthday so I requested if they could do something special and they served us a nice dessert with a candle and happy birthday message on the plate. Would return in a flash.
C.
Been here four times in the last 2 months and had a great time every time. The staff always make my family and I feel comfortable there and are always helpful and kind. The food is incredibly consistent (having had the Polpette deer meatballs and Buttered maltagliati with duck every time and it is never disappointed) and does a good job of using contrasting flavours or textures to break up otherwise heavy past and steak dishes.
K.
The service was very good though they could have come across more with the water. The waitress was able to provide good advice on the amount of food we should get and the dishes to try. The prawns and the wild deer meatballs were to absolutely to die for with the other dishes we had were very solid. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food. The desert menu didn't really strike me but this place is beautiful and definitely worth a visit in Auckland. Fantastic atmosphere too. I will go back.
P.
Everybody talks about the meatballs and they are worthy of the accolades. Great service, an overall wonderful, brief experience. They met our deadline of making a show at ASB theatre.
S.
Baduzzi is always our go to for a 'special occasion'.
Great selection of wines, and professional wait staff.
The Buttered duck maltagliati (pasta) is killer.
One request would be to bring back the old version of the Tiramisu, the new one is good, but the old one was better, and it's just a bit awkward to eat too.
E.
This is a so Yummy restaurant! I will come back many times! Very enjoy with my family! Best service, very delicious, very valued! Come to try! Oh, this is a set menu for 3 people.
D.
Stunning food in a gorgeous restaurant with fabulously attentive wait staff - crackingly good place to dine at.
B.
Interesting these days that you need a back story to food eateries.
This one is no exception.
A little cute 3 wheel vehicle parked outside with the speciality written on the side of the vehicle of grandmother’s meatballs.
The venue looks good with competent staff and more importantly is the food.
On the day the quality of the food was good however the let down was the size portions.
l think grandmother would have been disappointed based on the price of the meal.
B.
Quite glad I came with a group since we were then able to order quite a few items on the menu to share. We ordered a few items from each to get a range of different items to try. Of the different dishes the duck ragout with pasta and the lamb ribs were really tasty and nice. The meatballs were also quite good.
The service here was amazing. The servers showed up when we were wanting them most of the time. They were also quite efficient in removing empty plates from the table so we could put more food on the table.
It came to about $60pp for a 3 course meal plus drinks for four people.
I can see now why this place is quite popular,
G.
Wow your Italian friends here.
Big courtyard next door for the kids to play in, and great kids menu under $15. Check out this kids $9 dessert!?
Although meatballs are the specialty here, the seafood dishes are outstanding. The snapper and scampi tortellini with a lemon fennel butter sauce was our pick of the dishes.
R.
One of the best Italian meals we’ve had in Auckland! Both the Duck pasta and clam linguine dishes were lovely, Eggplant Parmigiana is yum but save space for the Tiramisu. It’s on a whole new level! Great restaurant with a brilliant vibe and excellent service!
T.
The best meatballs I have ever had - mind blowing. Tried the lamb, beef and venison - all packed with so much flavor! The hand made duck pasta is divine unlike many other hand made pasta I have tried. Pleasant experience fast efficient service
Z.
Love love love! This place is amazing 🥰 have been here twice now, have tried a few different dishes and everything was so beautiful and delicious 😋 staff were also very friendly and helpful with explaining a few things on the menu for us as well as recommendations of wine with our meals were perfect! 👌
J.
Great flavours even for vegetarian/vegan dishes! Eat slower and smaller bites otherwise you'll find it too salty. The sugar powdered nuts gives it an interesting sweet/salty hits on your palate. Overall very enjoyable but don't expect to have a full tummy on single main but more like a tapas size.
l.
BEST RESTAURANT IN TOWN. gf and I went and peak time and where in and out in two hours and when we ordered four courses it was worth it the mash potatoes were like butter with the stake and lamb where are top picks of the night the crayfish meatballs were also up there to one of the best things I have ever tasted
N.
What a great place for a meal. The pasta and meatballs were especially delicious. The pasta was slightly undercooked, but we still gobbled it up because it was so tasty. Staff were also lovely and helpful. Our table did seem oddly small for a restaurant that specialises in sharing plates (we were playing Tetris trying to fit everything on it). Overall, great tasting food, great atmosphere and great staff.
B.
Table for 1 at this restaurant was probably not the best...just because they are more of a family style, larger plated dishes. But I did have their venison meatballs- they’re known for the meatballs, this was just one of 5. I also had the Little Berry Farm fried zucchini with ricotta & the vegetables of the day. And what’s dinner without of glass of something so I had a glass of Rosè. Outdoor and indoor seating, not quite on the pier but on the street side. The food was excellent and the ambiance was fair. I thought the service would’ve been a little friendlier but Baduzzi definitely has its regulars. So 2 quirks...you need to pay your bill at the cashier, the same place/person that’s seats you & there’s a shared bathroom. All great stuff!
C.
Came here for their Valentine's set menu. Place is pretty much perfect, good food, good service, and good price for the experience. I did find that when we received our mains we were already full so didn't get to finish, although in saying that we are both girls so have smaller appetite. Keep up the good job Baduzzi team!
m.
First visit. Was well impressed with food we ordered all the meatballs the deal was divine where does a couple of other dishes there were also excellent. The bread rolls that came out I was surprised they had no option for garlic butter and they could have been warm bread. Great idea to have kids drawing activities on the back of menu for kids but a couple of simple items for kids like chips would have been good
s.
Absolutely love this place. The decor is fantastic and the service is excellent. The best part however is the food. Its totally amazing. We tried a lot of different things. The flavors were awesome. The suct pasta was superb. The wine list was also good . The highlight was tiramisu. It was the best ever. Highly recommended place.
C.
Excellent!! What a wonderful restaurant and superb food! Each mouthful tasted like more...😋 The meatballs were to die for and the most amazing dessert yummy! Our waiter was a fountain of information he basically guided and suggested what to eat from the menu. A fabulous experience. Will definitely return...
S.
Every dish is very delicious, very well prepared. Duck pasta is amazing. Flat iron steak is tasty and beats my expectation. Service is exceptional. I love it. Highly recommended!!!
J.
skip the zucchini flowers way too much breading, the venison meatballs were fantastic, great desserts and the saffron and potato cappaleti was AMAZING! good wine selection, though would have preferred the servers knew a little more about helping us select our wine.
S.
As my dear mother would say, "yum yum pig's bum"
Came back again for my birthday 2 years later. Happy birthday Sam.
Z.
Great food, lovely flavour, really great and interesting dishes! Love the flavour combination, Crayfish Meatball was really one brilliant dish and the Tiramisu Dessert is one of the best I’ve had!
S.
Went to Baduzzi Friday night 26th June 2020 to celebrate my birthday. The food was absolutely beautiful. I had the Wild red deer meatballs with portohello mushroom & parsnip crema, followed by Buttered maltagliati with duck & porcini ragu, buttercup & pickled black walnuts. For Desert Torta caprese w “Miann” chocolate, raspberry sorbet & coconut espuma. Everyone was very happy with their choose of meals. Highly recommend Baduzzi, Staff where very helpful and friendly.
K.
I personally thought it was overrated (maybe it's due to high expectations) but my friend really loved the meatballs. I liked the lamb racks. We all agreed that none of the desserts we tried tasted good despite them being highly recommended by the waiter.
F.
Beautiful experience! Great vibe with even better service service and food! Location is perfect for that viaduct feel.
S.
We had the picnic hamper today and OMG this was truly amazing. Absolutely worth the $85 that we paid. And IMO this hamper is totally worth more. You get so much variety and so much food for 2 people.
This is an absolute must.
A.
2nd time here and this place rocks. Love the food and atmosphere. But mostly great service from the friendly waitstaff. A+
p.
One of the best Italian food I have had.. my linguine was so perfectly done, but nothing to beat the mash potato.. OMG! It was so so damn delicious that I ordered a bowl of just that at the end of my meal. Best I have eaten so far.
T.
A lunch at Baduzzi in Wynyard Quarter welcomes Spring into season. The restaurant is very impressive with interior stylings of industrial chic meets urban hanging garden.
We ordered the wood fired king prawn, Hapuka bolognese with crayfish creme fettuccine and a radicchio candied walnut salad, lamb meatballs with buttered pasta and all of our dishes were exquisite and divine, washed down with a glass of Italian red and San Pellegrino. Excellent food and wonderful service!
B.
My favourite pasta place in Auckland. Food is amazing and creative but still retaining the basic good of Italian cuisine. Attentive staff without being disruptive.
g.
Kinda on the expensive side, but the highlight is most definitely the one meatball is worth ~$5 meatballs😂😂 These were actually phenomenal; I cried inwardly at just how perfect these tasted!! It's such a shame they were so expensive and small.
Unfortunately just because of the greatness of the meatballs, every thing declined from there on in - the portions were small if you take price into account. Not even the they were actually surprisingly filling although they look small kinda small, but for reals, small.
But having said that, food was quite nice (again, I'm raving about the meatballs, 10 outta 10 would come back for them alone); but luckily the service was nice, as was the atmosphere and decor.
D.
Try their crayfish meatball. Don’t get disappointed with the portion size, Baduzzi is fabulous because it is not one of those food joints that try to impress you with quantity, their food shows restraint and delivers quality. Their tiramisu, ohh so good - the bomb!!
F.
We collected Baduzzi’s picnic box last week. The food was so tasty and more than enough for two people. All packed up in a box with a red and white ribbon. A great initiative on click and collect in L3 lockdown and a great way to spend a sunny Friday afternoon in the city. Thank you Baduzzi!
H.
Great food and amazing hospitality. A big shoutout to a new host from Italy. Made our experience worthwhile. We are vegetarians so they also prepared something off the menu on request. Very courteous.
A.
Seriously great food and great staff. Always have a good time here!
T.
Great atmosphere, however the food was ok’ish. Not as hyped up as what were told. Ticked that one off.
A.
Whilst the food was absolutely delicious I would certainly not recommend a set menu. The serving size was just ridiculously small. Left very hungry.
M.
Nice place, fairly pricey, with entre around $15-20 and mains around $30-35. Nice desserts and cocktails. Had to wait for a dessert for about an hour. Portions very small which I think could qualify as a gourmet cuisine.
J.
just found my favorite restaurant in auckland. best service and food.
N.
The food was delicious. I think our group was happy with everything we ordered except the lamb meatballs. Service was a bit slow.
J.
I have been a few times to this beautiful restaurant and love it. The fresh pasta is sublime so can't go wrong with any option. Always I had a great service experience and the ambience is great. I usually go for a primi option and a contorni option to share so I have room to share a desert. Perfect place to go for a lovely lunch or dinner.
H.
Very good Italian food, together with great service who knows and understands the menu very well, which even not being very long is full of different options. Great drinks menu with wide wine selection together with an outstanding cocktail maker. Food was a 10, and service as well. We will be back.
A.
Great service, innovative and original dishes extensive range of modern Italian options including a vegetarian selection that will tempt carnivores - give it a try!
C.
Great Italian on the waterfront. Friendly staff and great steak. Would of loved a glass NZ red wine. Cosey atmosphere. Will go again.
D.
Been here with a small group and with my partner, both experiences have been just great. Yes it can get busy and booking might help but walk ins are more than welcomed.
The food is scrumptious and has a nice range for all tastes including vegetarian. Selection is not too large and avoids the Italian stereotypes which is refreshing. Try the tiramisu for desert
Staff are really welcoming and helpful, know their food and wine matching and always have a smile.
While in the medium expensive category, Would do again
A.
Always here for their tiramisu, hands down best in town. There is generally a wait if no bookings are made, so sometimes a cold 20minutes may be required but once inside it is toasty, the front of house is friendly and brings blankets and their food selection is just wonderful.
We had the eggplant parmigiana and two desserts: torta caprese and the ciambella, both were lovely but still don’t top tiramisu! 😋
N.
We went for coffee and dessert. The dessert was nice. Quite expensive. My coffee was so expensive for such a little cup I felt ripped off!
C.
Been here many times, and it never fails to disappoint! Delicious food, and they do a great job at catering for people with different allergies and needs- they have dedicated gluten free, vegan, and allium free menus. Would absolutely recommend for a lovely night out for those of us with dietary requirements!
I.
Highly recommended. Great place and nice dishes. Amazing atmosphere and friendly staff.
J.
Update: just went with restaurant hub, had a delicious duck ragu which was a little different than before, the meatballs were different too and came with raw slivers of cauliflower. Had the cannoli which was awesome.
We come on any occasion we can! The meatballs are so light and moist you could spread them on bread if you wanted to. My gf tells me the steak is to die for as well and I have to try it next time we go.
I.
This is not a cheap place but was totally worth it. Delicious tastes and good service. Will be back after the lockdown.
J.
Very happy to visit Baduzzi again - this time for lunch. Stunning food, top service and an excellent Italian wine list. On a sunny winter's day the conservatory was full of very happy people, including us.
S.
Awesome food, great meatballs, Streaks and cocktails. Host was very friendly.
S.
Wonderful food with lovely service and dining room.
C.
Best food, best service. We had an awesome night out and will definitely return.
Right from the outset when I initially emailed about making a booking Marika looked after us. She also was our server for the evening, she was friendly and knowledgeable. Made great recommendations about dishes and the wine list, joined in on our jokes and genuinely helped us have a fantastic time.
Thanks Marika and all the other staff that looked after our table
F.
Most amazing desserts!! The pasta was great too but even my boyfriend who isn't usually a sweets person LOVED his pudding would recommend to everyone!!
C.
Awesome venue and great atmosphere with wonderful staff. The lobster meatballs are something out of this world, go get some now!
S.
Great place for great Italian food. We went for my Mom 66 Birthday, only drawback in restaurant policy is you not allowed to cut your own birthday cake. But the waiter went extra mile bought some dessert with candle to end with good note. We will come back again without 🎂 🎂🥮 lol!!!
D.
Amazing dinner and desert. I feel like I need to go back into my google reviews and give all my previous 5 star ratings a 4, just so Baduzzi actually gets the 5 star rating they deserve.
Will definitely be back. My picky 7 year old cleared her plate which takes some doing.
Keep up the good work!
C.
Delicious authentic Italian food. Conservatory-like surrounds with lots of light and greenery. Delicious!👍✨
V.
Wow is all I can say, amazing food and better Service. Would highly recommend any wine pairing recommended by Lorenzo, we lets it up to him and were no disappointed
D.
Everything we ate at Baduzzi was delicious. I chose a pasta with duck and porcini ragu - definitely too good to share! I did have 'pudding envy' as our companions chose torta di riso and we had a torta with chocolate and raspberry sorbet. The service was friendly and professional. A lovely restaurant for a long lunch - or dinner.
A.
It was a pleasure to eat at a restaurant where you could share plates and dishes and order one course at a time. Could taste each dish. It took us 2 and half hours to eat our meal. Enjoyed the food and ambience.
R.
Excellent meals with well presentation of dishes.. Deserts wonderful 👍
Service adequate, just ok, did not match the food. Will recommend the excellent menu.
J.
Service isn't always great, but the food is always excellent so I don't really mind!
K.
Serves amazing deserts! Definitely worth trying it out! The staff is nice & very helpful with the menu, great atmosphere & awesome food!
A.
My favorite Italian restaurant in Auckland.
They are fantastic
R.
Excellent experience!! 10/10 I came in with a huge group and your staff were amazing! Especially in trying to cater to us all, I really appreciate all their efforts In moving us to a bigger table🤎🤎🙌🏻 & may I say The food was just absolutely gorgeously delicious. It was my birthday and it I felt very special to celebrate at Baduzzi! I am definitely coming back 🙌🏻 I am telling all my friends and family.
Your staff are just superb and professional they all need a bonus for their efforts last night!
I thank Marika, she was just amazing 10/10 professionalism, I needed help in ordering and she made some lovely suggestions which were just prefect to my taste! I enjoyed every bite of the desserts and the beautiful duck pasta which was just sensational. There was gentleman that took my booking on the phone and Who serve me a lovely mini birthday cake which I was not expecting, now unfortunately I didn’t get his name but I really appreciated his time and service 🤎🤎🤎🤎
Just such a beautiful experience 🙌🏻
C.
My partner and I have dined all over the planet and this was one of the best experiences we’ve had. From the last minute agility to seat us on short notice to the passion that the service and owners exude right on to the best part of all being the meal itself. Rarely does everything come together so perfectly but tonight was just that; perfection.
N.
Delicious venison meatballs and the "dessert" style pasta was to die for. The desserts were also a hit!
J.
Fantastic Food - even better service. The owner was an absolute star. Great night.
L.
AWESOME Italian cuisine. Every dish was a taste sensation. And the service was excellent
G.
Very good food and wines, pricey but for the quality that's okay
W.
Great classic italian food done well. Nice selection of cocktails and dessert was definately a highlight. Tirmisu done very well. 👍
T.
Set menu was delicious, but takes 2+ hours for all the dishes to come out
M.
Had a really nice risotto from the vegan menu. A non-vegan pal had the same thing and he really enjoyed it too. It was a little small though!
T.
Simply stunning!! Best Italian in Auckland by far. Everything just perfect.
B.
Fantastic service with an amazing wine menu and authentic Italian food!
J.
Great food and knowledge staff. Great for a date night.
B.
Food is OK. We ordered the iconic Lobster meat ball. $11 each and it tastes not iconic at all to be honest. More lamb than Lobster as I remember. Clam pasta was good to me but maybe quite light to those seeking real Italian flavours. We wiped out all the source left at the bottom with some bread, it was quite nice. Duck was average. The light was dimmed too much as there were many couples sitting around with candles on tables that we literately couldn't see what we were eating. Waitress hesitated when asked to turn up the light.
J.
Superb food and exemplary service.
A.
Made a reservation for Sunday lunch. Service was very slow (they were clearly understaffed). We tried the piadina, gnocchi, vegetarian polpette, and the tortellini. Followed by cannoli and rice pudding. Food was tasty. Portions were small, prices were BIG. I mean $8.50 for a slice of filled eggplant and $13.50 for a cannoli... Good as a one off, but we wouldn't return.
D.
Authentic ambience and food. Excellent service and recommendations of food and beverage. Will definitely go again.
S.
I went upon the high recommendations of a friend and it being Metro Top 50 2019. The restaurant was packed when I went, however the food did not meet the expectations I thought it would be. Customer service was dull at the time of dining. It wasn't a very interesting or exciting experience which is my expectation of a high end restaurant. The tiramasu was beautifully presented however :)
J.
Baduzzi is a great Italian place down in the Wynyard Quarter. The service is first rate & the food is first rate too. Four of us went there last weekend. Three of us had the lamb & it was superb. Cooked & presented to perfection. I enjoyed my Tiramisu. Beautiful. Well done team!
J.
My partner and I came here for our anniversary and had an incredible experience. I recommend booking to get a decent table but even though our table was less than desirable the service and food more than made up for it. Jess was particularly outstanding as our waitress, offering helpful suggestions on the menu, attending to us regularly to see that we were well taken care of with food and drink and the food itself was outstanding. The food arrived super fast and it was delicious. We came again just a week later for my mother in law's birthday and once again we had a wonderful experience. Baduzzi is a new favourite of mine and will be my go-to for an excellent Auckland night out.
J.
One of the best Italian restaurants we ve been to.
Great food, atmosphere and service.
If you are a fan of and love meatballs, don’t go
anywhere else. our favorite is the crayfish meatballs.
5 stars to the team at baduzzi. 👍
P.
Baduzzi isn’t one of those “Oregano-and-cheese-all-you-can-eat” restaurants. If you’re looking for a meal that leans towards quantity rather than quality you best dine else where. If. However, you’re keen to let your tastebuds do the walking and experience orchestrated layers of flavour and some fine winey, well then pull up a chair.
To be honest, thing didn’t get off to a great start. At the price point Baduzzi pitch their menu at, I was a little upset to have to pick bits of the last patrons meal out of my menu, with the residual fat stains that persisted. Thankfully it was quickly replaced and we could start afresh. She picked the Wood fired, wild caught king prawns with pancetta & gremolata picante. The char note on the prawns was exceptional, the gremolata played its part and the combination was superb. Being a meat lover I went for the lamb meatballs and was rewarded with texture finesse.
On to the mains and I opted for the duck pasta while she went for the tortellini. The duck was rich and unctuous. I could imagine the hours needed to make the stock. The Tortellini delivered layers of chevron, citrus, butter and fig.
We were tempted to try the Tiramisu. The presentation was spectacular, but the finish fell a little flat with no hint of coffee liquor or espresso in the base. So close!
Memorable, great service and two glasses of exceptional Puglia red. We’ll be back.
S.
We had a lovely experience. Staff were so friendly, professional and accommodating. Had some great chats with the owner himself who recommended menu items and fun banter about the upcoming birth of our first baby! Food was delicious, and even was given a complimentary scoop of gelato cause "baby was still hungry". We had a Entertainment Book voucher but decided not to use it in the end, as we wanted to pay full price and support this business after a hard COVID season. Highly recommend, thanks for an amazing night.
J.
We were really impressed how Baduzzi catered for vegan and vegetarian requirements, the food was really tasty and interesting and refreshing to order off a menu created for such requirements. Would definitely recommend :)
I.
These hospitable folk do amazing Foodie things with Balls; Duck Balls, Pork Balls, Veg Balls. Their pasta is primo just like everthing else in this fine establishment - so if you are looking for a deep dive into some great Italian food, just put yourself into their welcoming hands and enjoy. 😊
S.
Had dinner at Baduzzi last week and it was simply amazing. We ordered spaghetti vongole, venison meat ball, sirloin steak, and snapper crudo. The spaghetti and the steak were our favourite. I love pasta and have tried pasta almost everywhere in Auckland, and I have to admit that Baduzzi makes the best pasta in Auckland. The steak was well cooked, so tender and juicy.
Loved the ambience and the staff members were all welcoming. Will be back again!
T.
My favorite Italian restaurant in Auckland! Food is amazing, fantastic service, have to go at least once a month! <3
J.
I went to Baduzzi with my (adult) son for his birthday. From the moment we walked in, the staff were attentive, professional and very knowledgeable about the menu. We shared meatballs and pasta and it was superb. I happened to mention to the waiter that it was my son's birthday and his dessert came out on a special plate with a candle and "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate on the plate. This was totally unprompted and it is little touches like that which make the difference. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
M.
I highly recommend this great place. Food is awesome, very well prepared and presented. Service is superb and staff are quite friendly and professional.
B.
Exceptional italian food! Definitely the best we've had outside of Italy!
R.
Amazing food. The Baduzzi pale ale is a great pairing for most meals.
A.
Our party of 13 had the set menu.
We were thoroughly imptessed with all the dishes. The food was top quality, the chefs certainly. know how to cook very special food.
We will certainly return as a couple. Excelkent.
A.
Fantastic ambiance! Awesome service food is great
N.
Seems its rated for meatballs, while it has some different flavours for them, both those and the pasta wasn't anything special. Bit pricey but then its targeting a certain crowd so being average in taste is OK as long as its nits cheap and is a decent place to be. There are much better Italians at half the price if you are just wanting good food.
s.
I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for ages and we finally made it last week!! We all (three of us) opted for meatballs. I had the vegetarian option and my two friends the venison ones. We also had a selection of vegetarian sides . Everything was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. The staff were also very professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
T.
Great food and atmosphere! Service was great also 💪
J.
Great staff and a great meal, best Italian restaurant in Auckland
S.
Outstanding. Great food, extensive wine list, knowledgeable and helpful staff and the best service I have had at a restaurant in a long time. Went over and above to make the occasion special. This was my first visit but will not be my last!
F.
Excellent food, great staff and lovely space
F.
My husband and I had a little celebration of our own for my birthday at Baduzzi last Friday evening. We enjoyed and are grateful for the cheerful service. Food was delicious especially the snapper fish dish. Also Thank you for the delightful birthday surprise, little dessert treat :)
T.
Amazing restaurant. food and drinks are very tasty, the wood fired meet have the amazing smoke taste. The service is perfect as well, very nice and with very good advice.
I spend a lovely night there
N.
Excellent food at this high end restaurant with a family feel.
We tried the restaurant month menu which highlighted their pork dishes. We really enjoyed the tiger prawn and cannoli. The bone broth was good too but found the meatballs were a little overdone.
Table was a bit small for our group of 4 but I suppose that's in keeping with the idea of a trattoria.
The staff were very attentive, clearing the table without us even noticing. It was nice that we didn't feel like our conversation was being interrupted.
C.
Absolutely loved it. Wonderful food, amazing whine list and really good advices. We will come back.
H.
Very nice food but very, very expensive for what it is. Happy to pay a premium but this just seemed to be over the top. Also, not an ideal place in winter, was really cold
B.
Our Company entertained a table of 20 at Baduzzi for a business lunch on a Sunday. The staff were amazing. Catered to every need and changes to suit dietary requirements without question. The food was exceptional. The wine and cocktail pairing was bar none. Look forward to coming back.
J.
Great food. Love their hand made pasta.
d.
Loved charcoal flavoured meals. Service was great. Highly recommended.
N.
Chilled atmosphere but food was really nice. Great service too :)
J.
Consistently excellent. Wild deer meatballs, stuffed courgette flowers and tortelini with burnt butter sauce are must-tries. Duck raghu should be on the list with the tiramisu. Nice ambience and great service. A family favourite.
L.
Amazing as always! They set up a graduation surprise for me without my family even asking. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience and the delicious food!!!! Definitely recommend all the pasta on the menu (even though the buttery cheese tortellini was insane). The meatballs are also sensational!!!
A.
Best meat balls. Tastey food. Great Service.
Not as pricey as I thought it would be even with Desert and Drinks. Very reasonable.
H.
Love the food! Definitely recommended for a long lunch!!
E.
Relaxed and cosy atmosphere.
Some breads/pizza would have been a welcome addition.
Deserts were definitely their speciality.
E.
Have been here a few times and I would rate this as one of the best food experiences in Auckland. The food transports you to places and is an absolute treat to the palate.
Customer service is always 5 star quality - very attentive and lovely. They have great team morale and we always leave there feeling very content and relaxed.
Couldn't ask for any better
Thanks Baduzzi :)
A.
Hehe such a cute looking place with a little truck
L.
I've been to some (wannabe) Italian restaurants in Auckland and a lot of times the taste of the food was not... Italian. I was impressed by this one. The quality of the food was top notch, the service was impeccable and the location itself looks great. I recommend any pasta from them and the Aperol Spritz from the bar. I would say that compared to some other restaurants in Auckland this is a 7 stars one.
A.
Faultless. The fresh pasta is the best in the city.
M.
Very friendly staff.Arrived early on my own, made me very welcome. Excellent Food, amazing Felton wine match with each course. Highly recommended.
R.
Went here for a company lunch. Nice foods!
K.
Food was devine! Will definitely eat here again.
Great kids menu, friendly staff!
J.
Meeting up with friends and they chose this restaurant near our hotel. Seemed to be quite popular and had a nice atmosphere. Staff helpful and attentive. Nice menu but on the expensive side...$15/prawn. Food very nicely presented and of high quality.
A.
Beautiful food made with love. Our waitress was an absolute doll I'm sad I didn't get her name. They even made me a beautiful plate of dessert for my birthday. Highly recommended!!!
J.
Great atmosphere, food, wine, and service
N.
Delicious food with strong flavours all round especially the meatballs. The duck pasta was full of flavour and the pasta itself perfectly cooked. Baduzzi tap beer was excellent as was the service. Friendly, quick and unobtrusive. Nice light, open location. Maybe a bit out of the way to get there but worth the effort.
B.
Great goto restaurant... Not 5 star food, but a great visit and food is still up there. Great to simply turn up and get a good feed
Z.
The staff is exceptional, friendly yet polite. The meal was amazing. I can notice only one negative thing: the management should consider investing in better quality chairs...
T.
Fine dining here so don't complain of portion size.
Quality of food is amazing!
The smell of the kitchen draws you in from the streets.
Service was top notch.
Once in a while is fine for a commoner like me, prices makes you go ouch lol
Anyway, amazing experience.
D.
Simply wonderful food, bursting with flavour and nicely presented. Good service from people who seem to genuinely want you to have a good experience. Can't wait to go back.
C.
I recently had dinner at Baduzzi (date night) and it was amazing. We especially loved the red deer meat balls (seriously, you must try these) and the wine selection. The cured meats platter was excellent too and they had gluten free bread available
M.
Quality food and service, would have liked bigger servings of the meatballs
A.
Delicious food and great staff. It's family friendly as well.
G.
One of the best meals we've had in a while! Everything was spectacular -- our entrees were incredible (the vegetarian meatballs and another one with aubergine and cheese on flat bread), as were our mains and desserts (the chocolate cake with raspberries and coconut was mind-blowing). They've also got vegan, dairy-free and gluten free menus. We would absolutely return here and could not recommend it more!
B.
Great food and service. We were impressed with Jackson. His knowledge and professional service made for a very enjoyable evening.
R.
Yes, the menu seemed a bit confusing and I’m not sure the wait staff really explained it that well. However we had been expecting to try the famous meatballs. For 3 people who have virtually given up eating red meat we found them just as everyone says: delicious and succulent. We ordered some nice bread as a side: hot and tasty. Then the tiramisu was also as scrummy as people have said. So we were rather happy and will return in due course.
V.
We really wanted to love this place. But while the pasta is certainly fresh and the service is wonderful, the food lacks flavor one may expect from a restaurant this well rated. The cocktail menu looks impressive. Unfortunately, the drinks are underwhelming.
C.
I'd been wanting to try Baduzzi for some time but with so many stellar restaurants in Auckland I took my time. After my experience I wish I'd gone sooner. The best word to describe Baduzzi is WOW. I went with my friends and we shared several entrees and one pasta main. Pretty much everything we ordered was stupendous. The flavor combinations incorporates tradition with a twist. With three ladies it's hard to please everyone but we were each thoroughly impressed.
My friends had a couple wines and the server was knowledgeable about the wine options. He was able to translate their wine preferences into a match.
The service was fabulous and the dishes arrived in good time. Overall this was everything Baduzzi has sold us on it being. I'm a fan!
B.
Get your Italian restaurant experience to another level. Well crafted dishes, made to share. On my third dine in l, and they still delight me. Righly recommended. Ps: do order the tiramisu for desert.
A.
Heaven!!!
Always love a meal here. They've nailed it! If I had to choose one favourite: Crayfish Meatballs. Divine.
S.
Extremely nice food, although the portions were awfully small. I also don't recommend the strawberry 'cocktail', as this is more of three shots of liqueur rather than an actual cocktail.
B.
Went here for the first time on the 24th of December for my girlfriends birthday. I was absolutely blown away by everything. The food was incredible. Very very impressed. The service by a young European girl with blonde hair was very good. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. A young British lad gave me an excellent recommendation on a glass of red wine. The stracciatella was amazing and the meatballs were the best I have tried. I am a food writer and can say this is right up there with traditional Italian cuisine. Geat job guys!
Batman
M.
Great Italian food for sharing. Every dish we had was yummy. I especially loved the prawns. Will definitely come again. Only problem was we really didn’t need as much dessert as we ordered!
D.
I'm worse than a novice when it comes to Italian food.
Absolutely loved my date here ambiance is cosy, open kitchen so you can see the chefs if you're sitting at the back.
Food is how I imagined italian food to be. The other places I've tried pale in comparison.
I'm big I eat large portions, so if you're similar you may think their portions are small.
Ordered:
Sardines
Aubergine
x2 lots of bread
Crayfish meatballs (4)
Pork Rigatoni
Tiramisu
Lemon custard? Cannelloni
2 Jack Daniel's
=187.00
The food is rich, different for us and full of flavor. Portions ended up being perfect, bellies were stuffed.
Loved loved my experience here.
Will come back again :)
V.
Very different menu for an Italian inspired restaurant. Beautiful combination of flavours, totally unexpected. Small portions for the mains, but it allows for room for starters and dessert, which are unique and totally worth it.
The tables are small though, and it's a very popular place but don't take reservations, only for groups of 8 or more.
D.
I know people rave about this place, but frankly I found it a bit underwhelming. The service was very attentive, and the menu sounded interesting but I found that the dishes didn't deliver the wow factor I was expecting.
B.
Service Is good. Food is very tasty and good quality, but not your typical Italian meals so if that's what you're after this isn't the place - nevertheless we really loved the food and the experience. Even the bread with balsamic vinegar and oil was the best I've had! Also: quite pricey and small servings
J.
Fun, fabulous and fantastic! Will not put a huge dent in your wallet which is a bonus.
Highly recommend it!
P.
Baduzzi is consistently brilliant! Great food and service, wonderful atmosphere. Easily one of our favourite restaurants in Auckland.
D.
Never fails to be delicious, and best wine list in Auckland (if you like Italian).
C.
Food was very nice, staff was polite. However beware those eating here for the first time, some of the meals are more like appetizers, and our server didnt tell us when we ordered. (The menu may have said but I dont speak italian)
p.
Nice place. Excellent staff and service. We had the king prawn, east coast meatballs, crayfish meatballs (special of the day), gurnard and scampi pasta and the duck ragu. The food was amazing right until the ragu came. I was quite disappointed, it had a weird aftertaste and the duck was tough. The sauce was thin. It wasn’t the luscious ragu I was expecting. I was told by our server that it was the best dish on the menu. It definitely wasn’t for us. We loved everything else though. The tiramisu and the chocolate tart was really good. The coffee we ordered with dessert was burnt though. Food is amazing bar one dish. The service is excellent and I’ll definitely be back again.
L.
Delicious food and atmosphere! Staff seemed a bit green and would've been nice if they could've explained menu for first timers for the parts not in English (Google translate works a treat) however this is so minor compared to the amazing food 😍 We will be back!
A.
Very nice Italian food, despite of their quite dear pricing. However, with their impeccable service, friendly and attentive team; and how they will try to accommodate your needs and requirements, I would say that their price is quite reasonable, especially if you go there for special occasions. I asked our waiter which dessert doesn't have fresh cream and fresh milk as ingredients at the beginning of our meal; however, when it was time to order our dessert, 1 hour later, I forgot to remind him, and to my surprise, all of the cream and milk has been replaced with coconut cream and coconut milk. That's impressive. I personally like the food at Baduzzi than Amano.
P.
Just enjoyed a spectacular meal, served and skilfully advised by the super Jess (10/10) wait staff. Jess carefully guided us through the interesting and complex menu, dealt with a tiny cooking hiccup with finesse and made great but low key recommendations. Jess was one of a great team who were all warm, engaging and super helpful! Highly recommend the king prawns and the winter vegetables. Wine fab too! Thanks a bunch!
a.
The only 5 star I have given. Food was great but the staff was fantastic. A must visit
D.
Amazing food!!! One of my favourite restaurants in Auckland. The location is great, I love how the kitchen is displayed. The staff is pretty friendly and professional. I totally recommend!
A.
Amazing service and ambiance. The food was phenomenal. The king shrimp mouth watering, lamb meatballs sensational, steak and mash potatoes mind blowing. Not a fan of crayfish broth linguine too lemony for my liking. Tiramisu is out of this world good!!!
R.
Excellent meal with great service from Alex our waiter. Meatballs, steak, pasta, salads and wine selections could not be faulted. Rounded the meal with sweets. Wonderful night and will definitely return.
T.
Flavor, flavor, flavor... yummy, tasty... Prego!
The Zucchini flower and the Saffron and Potato Tortellini became my Italian favorite sin!
S.
If you love a good piece of meat - the 1kg Tomahawk is definitely recommended. What's more? I loved the ambience of this place; the staff are attentive; food is tasty 10/10; a selection of good quality wines and the whole experience is totally satisfying in every way.
M.
Went there last night for our anniversary. Food 5/5, service 5/5. everything we had was super yum, unusual flavours in a good way. drink prices are very reasonable even cheaper than some of our local pubs. it was a very good place to dine out. will be back again for sure.
J.
The crayfish meatballs are not something you want to miss out on. Personal favourite of the chocolate cake for dessert.
J.
Would highly recommend dining here. DIVINE. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, service is great and the food came out quickly, was fresh and scrumptious! Tiramisu wasn't the traditional but instead a modern take. It was stunning also and I'm particularly fussy about that. I had the spaghetti linguini (with clams) and the duck pasta dish. They were both to die for. Only thing I would comment on is the price of the cocktails.
B.
Recently had my 30th birthday dinner there - absolutely loved it! We had a table of about 20 with several different dietary requirements. They catered for everyone and were extremely thoughtful. Food was amazing, service was amazing! Great experience - highly recommend it! :)
T.
I had a great night here. The service was attentive but not a pester. The Spanish wine complimented our many dishes we tried. Romantic and private enough but nice to be in the bustle and hum of a busy Saturday night.
K.
Baduzzi hands down just treated us to the best meal we think we have ever had. Micheals service was also outstanding. Counting down the days to coming back again. Thank you very much.
M.
Went for lunch and the food was amazing. We had no problem getting seats for lunch but I know you'll need a reservation for dinner. Anything you get on the menu is bound to be delicious.
G.
Very tasty and well plated Italian food. Friendly hosts for a unique dining experience. Casual & fun sort of gourmet - maybe not for everyone but I loved it.
J.
Had absolutely wonderful evening at Baduzzi. All dishes divine, service personalised and excellent.
Highly recommend
R.
What more can you ask? Meatballs (esp the Karitane Crayfish Meatballs) were impeccable. Flat iron steak tagliata was good. Salt baked beetroot pappardelle was insanely tasty and juicy in a good way. Very good feed. The fish was a slight let down but overall the dishes tastes extremely good that not many Italian restaurants out there can rival. Not so much for cheese fans - very healthy food fulled restaurant. Make sure you mix all the size topping/sauce flavours together for the best taste. Service was also good, and the Peroni pints were tapped and tasted amazing. Definitely worth every buck.
C.
Great atmosphere, helpful friendly staff and divine dessert.
We chose 2 of your famous meatballs and a eggplant parmigana which unfortunately all tasted the same. The tomato sauce offered no uniqueness to these three dishes.
This was a different experience from our previous visits
T.
Best Tiramisu I've had, Fullstop.
P. S. Perfect with soy latte.
D.
🔥 10/10. Would go again in a heartbeat. Everything was tasty, service was outstanding, and my wife and i had a great date. Highly recommend.
J.
Delicious food, and really interesting palate! Had a voucher to go, but price would have been a little off putting if I didn't. Overall great experience, thoroughly recommend!
N.
Food is delicious and staff have a thorough knowledge of the menu. Despite the high quality of the food, it was the staff that made the evening really special. A huge thanks for making a real effort to make our evening special. Will be bringing the company to eat here regularly!
R.
Probably the best contemporary Italian restaurant in Auckland, if not New Zealand. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and professional. The food is exceptional and you could not find any flaws if you tried. Definitely not cheap but if you're celebrating and you want the best, you can't beat it.
K.
Fabulous food!
Great gluten free options & allergy friendly
There’s a reason this place is so popular 💯
G.
Absolutely delicious food and great service. The only down side for me is that it is quite crowded (i.e.tables quite close together). I will be back.
G.
Delicious Italian food and fine wines with impeccable service at a very fair price. Highly recommended!
M.
Cozy restaurant for a date, amazing wine to warm up the night, waiter with a good banter! Wood fired meet is my fave.
N.
You can see why this place is one of the best 1000 restaurants in the world. A bit of a wait but it meant I got to enjoy a really amazing custom made mocktail. The food was delicious. There were lots on the menu that I would want to come back and try.
A.
Quality establishment. Good service, great food and a really good atmosphere. Also being away from downtown means parking is easy and a lovely place to stroll before or after a meal. Love this spot.
2.
I love this place, wonderful fresh pasta, and great dishes to share with friends. The large snapper filled tortellini and duck pasta are amazing. And the service is very friendly and professional, it was all too easy to have a fantastic time.
G.
Picked up some lockdown dinner which was really good.
C.
Amazing flavors, great friendly service, lovely ambience.
S.
Impeccable service and delicious food!! The aubergine padine entre and the tiramisu was to die for!! Standout was the service.... Been a while since we've got such excellent service! Def be coming back regularly!
J.
Absolutely amazing experience. The staff were super friendly and helpful, the food was out of this world - fresh, lots of flavour and well-presented, and the wine list very impressive. Only downside is that I am from Australia! We'll definitely be back next time we are in NZ.
M.
This place is popular for a reason. It's buzzing with atmosphere because it's busy and the food is excellent. These guys took such good care of us on our anniversary and went the extra mile with a birthday cake and superb service.
R.
The food and service were both excellent! I think I found a n w favourite restaurant down the road. I would recommend that anyone try the meatballs, as they are something special, but nothing that we ordered was disappointing. All very good!
P.
Fantastic food and a great vegan menu! Recommend the vegan polpette and the potato gnocchi.
R.
Fantastic meatballs (the house speciality), fresh pasta, friendly and attentive staff, even had a high chair and food for the kids. Short but we'll appointed wine list of mostly Italian varieties. A very pleasant lunch all round.
v.
My husband and I shared a special evening at Baducci.
Couldn't fault the food, service or atmosphere.
Would certainly recommend. Vicki
A.
The duck pasta dish wash amazing. The iron flat steak was okay. Service was excellent. The place is busy so be prepared to wait for a seat on Saturday. It's likely to be the same on Friday.
R.
Very good. Service excellent. Food mostly excellent. Only slight misstep was the snapper tortellini. The pasta was too thick and soft which, together with an overly sweet sauce, overpowered the seafood filling. The other starters and mains we tried were brilliant though... Eggplant & stracciatella flatbread, meatballs, duck ragu, goats cheese capelletti
A.
The staff are amazing and the food fabulous, had such a wonderful night here.
A.
Wow. That left a lot to be desired.
After reading all the reviews I was so looking forward to finally making it to Baduzzi, so booked this restaurant to enjoy a meal with a group of friends. I have to say I left underwhelmed, actually i would say disappointed... and still hungry.
A table of 9, we were advised that we would have to have the set menus. Absolutely no trouble as this should just make things easier.
There was the menu change that wasn’t mentioned. Food I would have loved to try but as we were on rations, food was missed.
Random small plate of food with no explanation placed on the table.
It was all just very odd.
The venue is loud. We couldn’t hear the waiters. They could not hear us. We all could not hear each other. All the hard surfaces wouldn’t help. Forgivable, until we are asked if there is a food allergy which is over looked and served to the group anyway.
When we could get someone’s attention, the wait staff did try to rectify this and that was appreciated.
As there were 9 of us, you would expect the food amounts to be adequate.
It wasn’t.
Now I don’t expect it to be food over flowing, or to excess but I do expect to leave satisfied. (Note- I am not a big person or a huge eater. No one at the table really was. If you are someone who enjoys ample food this is not the type of dining experience for you)
$85 for a set menu. The amount of each dish perhaps would equate to enough for 6 people, if that. i.e the squid. 2 bowls. Absolutely not enough. The ribs: you would think there would be 9 so one each. Nope... no big deal, a few missed out. That’s okay.
Fingers Crossed there is more of the rest....
Nope.
The meat balls. 6 of one variety. 3 of another. That’s ok, we cut them in half. Serving two bowls or plates of each dish for 9 people didn’t cut it. 3 between 9 maybe? I would have preferred have a main meal to myself and maybe feel somewhat satisfied. And not cost $85 to leave still feeling hungry.
The place was busy. Perhaps we fell through the cracks because of this. We saw our dessert, (2 small tiramisu and 2 small chocolate somethings, still no where near enough for 9 to so much as have a spoon full) be dropped at the wrong table. Before being dropped to us. Perhaps that is where the rest of our food went?
I could go on but you get the gist and I don’t want to be “that person” who leave “those kinds” of reviews. Credit where credit is due. The female waiter was very good at her job.
I am disappointed to leave a review that isn’t glowing as I really had hoped for great things. Maybe that’s the problem? So much hype I expected too much?
Hype aside, that really wasn’t something to rush back for.
If you are looking for a group of 6 plus. This isn’t the place as the set menu really doesn’t live up to the glowing reviews.
If you are looking for a venue for a first date or along those lines, this is not the place. You just simply won’t hear each other.
As the reviews speak so highly, I will go back one day for a second chance, but not in a hurry. It could have just been a really off night. But when there are so many wonderful restaurants in Auckland, it’s the kind of night you would find hard to forgive.
T.
Took my partner herr for his birthday. Wow. For the amount of people at our table the food came out in good time and together. Desserts are gorgeous! We wee lucky enough to sit by a window looking straight in to desserts being made.
F.
Really excellent food and cheerful professional service. Very busy and noisy, but that was expected on a Friday night! We will go back again for another hit on the great menu
A.
They serve beautiful pasta. If I tell you their best dish is their simple buttered pasta... You wouldn't believe how amazing their other dishes are. Try their meatballs as well. Best to share a few different pasta among friends and family.
T.
Spectacular service from entry to exit, divine food, delicious cocktails. Definitely going back for more. Great Anniversary venue!
s.
Great service food and wine
F.
a beautiful restaurant with classic and beautiful italian food that hits the spot time after time. the menu is simple and easy to order from and the atmosphere makes baduzzi a very nice place to sit. baduzzi is a perfect place to go after seeing a show at the waterfront theatre! baduzzi is in a great location as it is down by aucklands waterfront and silo park which is a beautiful place to walk but it is set back a bit which means it isn’t to noisy. however i would recommend you book a table in advance as the restaurant does fill up very quickly!
W.
Quite literally the best meal I've had in my life. Was about $100pp for a 3 course meal. Wagyu beef was insanely good, and the desserts were visually impressive and tasted amazing.
T.
Every dish exquisite with perfectly matched wines and 5 star service. Always delivers! Not sure having to make a choice whether to add a tip when paying is appropriate given the price you are already paying that covers the service.
H.
Amazing service and the food was to notch. Their way staff really know the menu and their wine match was on point. You just have to keep going back to try different things.
I went there and we whiled away hours while enjoying the food and wine without realising it.
J.
Delicious pastas and great atmosphere. Awesome service!
J.
Enjoyed our meal. Well staffed and friendly. Looking forward to going back to try more of the menu 👍
G.
Food was excellent and the service was impeccable...absolutely worth every cent and more. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.
L.
Excellent dinner, we ran into Ben Bayly (executive chef ) as we were leaving, who had popped in for a friends birthday. Jan. 2019.
C.
After a second visit I’ve had to reduce the score. The cocktails were bland and uninspired, absolutely not worth their ~$20 price tag. We tried them all. Perhaps it was an off night, but it was very disappointing.
Delicious and interesting food in a great atmosphere. The Negroni I had was the best I've ever tasted. Plus this is possibly the only Italian restaurant in Auckland that sells cannoli.
O.
Great location, great staff and amazing food. Been to Baduzzi for both lunch and dinner and loved it both times. Prices are fair for what you get in return ! Amazing experience every time.
Z.
Best restaurant yet. Amazing service and food cooked to perfection and delivered faster than expected. Definitely recommend this to those who want to have a good time with family
F.
A new favourite in Auckland! Lovely food, in a gorgeous setting!
E.
I had dinner at Baduzzi last night as part of a big group. As a vegan, although I'd called ahead, I was hesitant as the menu didn't look promising for me...
In the end I was really impressed by the creativity, the taste and the balance of the dishes they served. I'm a hungry guy and I don't subsist on salad. The chef did some cool things to create plant-based 'meatballs', pizza breads and other things I couldn't describe well! The wait stuff were great too.
It's a sign of a good kitchen/chef that can step up and do something like this on a busy night. Thanks - maybe you should put some of what you served me on your regular menu?!
盛.
Lovely place. Food is really good. Good portion for group sharing. Boss paid the meal so not sure about the food price. Beer is on the dearer side: a bottle of pils costs $11... oh dear...
k.
Lovely casual ambience. Service was fast but the food portions surprisingly small. Nothing stood out from main menu.
However the Delicious Tiramisu a definite plus!
S.
Love this place, amazing food abd service to die for!
D.
First time l have ever been and not the last, first class.
Emma she was the best, good conversation and great food, who could ask for better cheers
S.
Amazing scotch fillet, you wouldn't guess for a Turkish menu!!
T.
Cool place. Great vibe and service was good. Food was hit and miss, especially for the price. Dirty martini was not good (fake olive juice? Way too much vermouth?).
R.
Good food, staff was eager to take away our plates
N.
Fantastic food, great atmosphere, loved the music & amazing service
C.
Food was amazing, wait staff friend, manager way too bitchy to other staff (calm down a little). The tables for two need work as they are back to back and leaves no room so lacks a romantic feel. Other than that food was so good! Would recommend.
E.
Expensive, but food and service A1
L.
I enjoyed some dishes., but some to me were a little weird combination wise. the foccacia bread was delicious but a real tooth breaker. the desserts were delicious.
A.
Beautiful food! Open kitchen with disciplined team. Quite noisy at peak times.
V.
Great setting, service,, atmosphere and location, Italian food at its finest 👌
M.
Awesome wine list. Knowledge staff. Had a great night and will Be back
R.
Excellent food, great wine. The service was friendly and professional, beautiful location and finally a really nice atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Baduzzi to friends.
E.
Lovely food, good atmosphere
J.
Entrees very nice. Got the gurnard pasta main, was pretty bland and very buttery, no flavour of fish. Decent service.
H.
Shoutout to our waitress, Lauren, who was everything I could ask for in a server and more. And the FOOD - oh my lord. This is the kind of food where you want to close your eyes with each bite as if that would let you savour it just a little more. So good - Baduzzi totally lives up to it's reputation.
L.
Outstanding, best experience I've ever had dining!
J.
Small plates, expensive, delicious. Don't get seated on the table for two in the corner by the window. When they seat people after you, you will struggle to get out, I recommend they take this table away as it is horrible sitting back to back with the other table it's too cramped
.
H.
Food and staff were good. Would recommend being able to book in advance so you dont have to wait around for a table to be free. Had a good experience overall and would come back, probably on a quieter day of the week though.
J.
Took mum here for mother's day with my sisters and we had an amazing meal. The food was outstanding and service excellent! I highly recommend this place.
M.
Classic Italian food, great wine selection, indoor and some outdoor seating, relaxed atmosphere. More expensive than other option in the same area, but worth it for a night out.
S.
Amazing food and awesome service
S.
The best steak I've ever had in my life. Delicious food and cocktails. Love their gluten free options.
A.
Definitely worth the visit. The fresh pasta is excellent. I'm not vegetarian but their vegetarian pasta option with goat cheese was actually one of the best dishes, don't overlook it!
J.
If you're into Italian food, this is the place for you. Dishes are designed for sharing and they accommodate your dish based on numbers at your table. Always amazing service
O.
The food is excellent. Great service. Very relaxed environment, nice to rewind after a busy working day. I will be back!
B.
Very friendly, very fast, exquisite food
C.
Totally delicious, very competent and kind staff, great drinks. Not held back by the $$$ price tag, totally worth it. I definitely want to return!
C.
We had an excellent experience. The service was great, and meatballs were the highlight. The goats cheese pasta and duck ragu we also both lovely.
K.
Beautiful quality food, so tasty and fresh. Service was great too, thanks for a lovely night out.
P.
Certainly not to the standard expected . Disappointed with the menu. Staff were fabulous and food prepared well .
N.
An exquisite, authentic Italian dining experience in Wynyard Quarter. Offers delicious rustic flavours and tasteful decor. A tad cramped but nothing worth making a fuss over. Personally love the eggplant lasagna to start with, followed by the duck ragu parpadelle.
B.
awesome service 👏 good food, good price, very nice location easy to park
S.
The meatballs and the dessert was our highlight. Dinner for two was $95 so a bit pricey. Its an upmarket italian restaurant where you wont find pizza.
t.
Incredible food, great atmosphere, and extremely attentive service. Couldn’t speak more highly of it. You must try the duck pasta and the tiramisu
r.
Excellent food and the service was top tier! Meatballs were amazing. Highly recommended.
M.
Great food albeit a bit expensive. Very noisy so not the best place if you are on a hot date. Service could be improved ie a bit slow and sometimes the wait staff seems to not notice you gesturing.
A.
Amazing food. good service.
Super happy with the gluten free options.
Thanks to the staff for helping me ice my knee after a texting-while-walking-fall 🤕😊
M.
get prepared to settle down for some of Nonna's best Italian sharing food! brilliant service and lovely warm atmosphere. definitely worth checking out for a fantastic night out
S.
Amazing set menu and delicious food. What an experience! Such a great time in an awesome setting.
I.
Been there several times. Was amazing, but maybe not as good as used to be. I took my cousin's family there...we were kept waiting for food to be served... It was unbelievably slow ...
R.
Absolute quality menu, food, wine and service
T.
Impeccable food and service. Probably the best Italian restaurant I've been. Loved it and will come back many times.
L.
Good Italian restaurant. I personally was not amazed by the meatballs, but the Beetroot parpadelle was insanely good! Recommend and will come back for sure to try the rest of the menu.
A.
Food was great here !
M.
Fantastic food, atmosphere and service.
We had the cured meats, two pasta dishes and two desserts. Each dish was perfect. The pasta was particularly good.
N.
Pretty under rated in my opinion. It's not cheap but not expensive either. It's a solid option if want a good place for all occasions. The Tiramisu is AMAZING.
L.
Food was heavenly. Service not so great. Forgot bread & got one dish wrong (only five of us). However, friendly and attentive.
S.
Really nice food and service is second to none. Only issue is food comes in threes so if u have four people u need to add a serving which makes it expensive. But in saying that very very yummy. Edited. Opps was meant to be 4. Sorry for that
H.
Real Italian food, courteous and knowledgeable staff and contemporary ambience. They have a vegan menu too, with creative and tasty senza-carne options that don't deviate too far from tradition.
D.
Wonderful Italian restaurant. Excelent food & service. Nice ambiance. Reasonable prices, but really worth it.
Definitely a place to go back.
A.
Really let down by the service. Unfriendly and frankly quite rude waitress. Also the process of trying to get to your booking, when everyone else is trying to come out and pay, seems weird. Shame, as food itself is pretty good
N.
Fancy Italian food, most things on the menu are pretty pricey but the quality makes it worth it. Ideal to come here for a special occasion. Would recommend the duck pasta 👌
J.
We have been a long time supporter of The Grove (another Ben Bayly restaurant, unfortunately he's recently left), and we came running to try Baduzzi when they first open doors. We've since been back a few times as a family and also with friends. The pasta and meatballs are their signature dishes for good reasons and they have never disappointed, in particular, the vongole (clam) pasta, ragu pasta and the lamb meatballs.
G.
Worth every penny. Loved it! It was a busy Saturday night but the food came out quick, the staff were super friendly. We loved the experience
N.
Good food. Great dessert menu. Bustling, busy and has a good vibe. Pricey but not out of line given the location.
H.
Baduzzi's name reverberates as a top tier restaurant in Auckland's dining scene. However, it's awkwardly stuck between a bistro and a fine dining restaurant.
The price surely fits into the fine dining category but the setting and location leaves it a bit short.
The food is divine - perfectly cooked, favoured and presented, and unlike most other Italian restaurants, you can enjoy it without being overloaded (especially the cheesy carb dishes). You can't miss the Pasta or the Meatballs, but you just might, because it operates as a sharing dish restaurant, where they tell you to share but give everything to you in half portions. There is barely enough for yourself let alone share it...
Tip:
Come armed with your check book as this will be very pricey. You can walk off your wallet's pain along the beautiful Viaduct after your meal. Plenty of parking around.
J.
Thank you for the great service during our Valentines Day dinner. Alex was very friendly and professional throughout the night and we love the whole ambiance and experience.
C.
Magic Birthday dinner at Baduzzi - Aug 2015 - Michael Dearth's staff were gracious and accommodating with a small group of 3, we felt attended to throughout the night; the selection of food and wine were superb - a New Yorker state of flavours and a Spanish wine that allowed a blend of a bouquet of tastes that complimented the night. Reasonable prices and great service. We will be back again soon.

Great service and the good was impeccable. We went for Valentine's Day and couldn't have been happier with the meal. Will absolutely be gojng again
L.
Great modern Italian restaurant that hasn't suffered from lack of quality though its promenant position.
P.
Great food ,friendly service, manageable price. One of my favourites
S.
Quality dining experience with exceptional food. Highly recommend for people looking done with a large group of 6+. Cheers
A.
Great food, Great service, Great atmosphere. Really tasty "fancy" food. Best meatballs I've ever had! Loads of close parking.
Y.
Wonderful experience, loved the dishes. Thank you so much Wayne. Enjoyed each and every dish, especially the shredded duck, full of flavors
E.
The staffs are quite friendly. Food are attractive but size are smaller than expected. Price is reasonable. A good restaurant to have dinner.
R.
Really nice place with excellent service and delicious food. Good option for dairy and/or gluten free dining even though it's an Italian restaurant
d.
This is one of the best restaurants I've been to. There is this lovely relaxed atmosphere that accompanies the amazing food that just creates a fantastic night out.
S.
Authentic Italian food at its best 😋 had a 3 course meal and all servings were devine
N.
Awesome Italian restaurant. Good food and even better service.
B.
Amazing restaurant, absolutely delicious food and wine. Would recommend! Service fluid, no remarks whatsoever. Will revisit if returning to Auckland
A.
Delicious meals had by everyone. Lovely service by all. Vegan food exceeded my expectations and was fantastic value.
V.
Loved the deconstructed Negroni. Food, as always, was good. Nice to sit outside and good to see they have expanded outdoor seating so much. Agnolotti were particularly good yesterday!
A.
One of my best dining experience. we were charged for an extra bottle of wine. When we rang they happily reimbursed it..
Will definitely come back..👍
S.
What can I say, I am speechless, I have no words to describe the amazing food, I am speechless, cannot wait to go back. Simply amazing, highly recommended, the best restaurant I have been too in New Zealand.
A.
Not the cheapest joint in town but great service and nicely prepared meals. Wine list almost 100% imported but found a good Waiheke montepulciano to fill the gap.
P.
Meals (ordered) were delicious and colourful.
Definitely will return to Baduzzi, and hunger for more.

J.
Great meal last night great to find a restaurant whose kitchen doesn't close too early.
N.
Lovely restaurant, they can be quite busy so we had a bit of a wait before our meal but the food was certainly worth it!
L.
Oh the meatballs here are to die for... Everything else is great as well. Great location, great service and fantastic food and drinks makes this place a winner
B.
Tasty....Nice look...but a bit SALTY
G.
The food at Baduzzi is really next level. Super delicious and the staff are all so very pleasant and informative.
T.
I really enjoy Baduzzi - get the various meatballs and try some of the more unusual dishes for a treat. Great wine selection.
Its good in all weather!
A.
Excellent food, not just the meatballs that they are famous for.
M.
Fantastic meatballs (coming from a meatball connoisseur!) - very small portions though. Great atmosphere, very sophisticated, perfect for date night.
M.
Loved it! Second time and still my favourite restaurant. Will be back!
S.
Great food and wine, friendly staff with a relaxing atmosphere
J.
Amazing food, location and service, the pasta is so fresh and every dish we've had there is full of authentic italian flavour.
T.
Great food, our server was very polite. we will def go back again
W.
Had the Hapuka Bolognese. This is the one! Seemed like an unusual dish - you might normally think of Bolognese as mince beef. So this was minced Hapuka in a crayfish broth. Wow, truly blown away by this flavour. I asked for a spoon after. There was no way I was going to leave any of that broth in the bottom of my bowl. - Best for sure
C.
Love the food and vibe of the place.
C.
Tasty meatballs, but losses a few points for being a little over priced for what you get. I have only been once due to this as it is surrounded by other good resturants and doesnt standout as worth it in comparison.
G.
Delicious food, although insanely overpriced. $20 for the cappelletti, and it's only a portion of 4 small bites. But still, very tasty nonetheless.
A.
Fantastic food, great service, and wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend for a nice dinner!
T.
Arrived at theatre time, very busy. Good service, great pasta, fine wine selection (favors Italian wines).
D.
Baduzzi. Vibrant. Cold. Winter. Summer. Baduzzi is anything you want, but not exactly what you expect. Tiramisu wasn't Tiramisu but was still good. Food size needs to be bigger for the price. It didn't bedazzle me, but it did baduzzi me.
P.
It was okay, don't believe the hype. Much better Italian restaurants in Auckland.
C.
Staff are really friendly , we had a great birthday party ! Kids all loved their kids menu plus gorgeous looking ice cream for desert .
D.
Beautiful food and great service. I would recommend to go for the pasta! (And the Tiramisu)
A.
As an Italian, I’m always a little dubious. But this place is top star genuine and the food is awesome. Great and speedy service is just an extra bonus. Full marks.
J.
Went for my wife's Christmas function, absolutely loved it. Food was great. One of the better Italian restaurants in Auckland.
L.

Their food is unique and made in a different way than you may think but overall wonderful place to eat at!
R.
This has to be Auckland’s best Italian restaurant. A really creative menu with some exceptionally inspired dishes. Worth a visit.
A.
Interesting dishes on the menu, great atmosphere and very attentive service from staff
H.
Delicious food, great service, wine too expensive.
M.
Not sure if this place deserves this much of compliments to be honest. Dishes were overall salty, very small portions. Kind servers though.
M.
There were no complaints from the five of us. Everything was delicious. Certainly one of Auckland's top restaurants.
F.
Looking for somewhere high-end with exceptional food and service? Most definitely worth a visit if you haven't. Always absolutely first-class.

This place is usually always brilliant, not sure why we were pushed along with our orders this time. Could have just been the waitress.
S.
Really creative and delicious Italian food. Fantastic for special occasions and for when you want to feel treated. The paua parladelle is to die for. Canolli and tiramasu get them both!
