Reviews of Bao Baby Bao
A.
I had a fantastic experience trying Bao Baby Bao for the first time.
I ordered the vegetable dumplings ($12) and loaded fries ($12). I was very surprised with the amount of food, high level of presentation and taste for the price.
The dumplings sold at Bao Baby Bao are interesting flavours that I haven't seen or tasted anywhere else. Although slightly more expensive than dumplings I have had elsewhere, I much prefered these ones, and they were packed full of the filling. They are also served with a delicious seasoned soy sauce (which is great for dipping the fries into as well...)!
The loaded fries were very good too! The bulgogi beef was not chewy, and very flavourful and savoury. I loved them.
I'd highly recommend Bao Baby Bao to anyone vising Elliott Stables eatery, as you can't go wrong for the quality of food for the price!

We try to order local during lockdown. But our favourites were closed for ordering and I was craving a Bao and some dumplings! Let me tell you I have tried dumplings and Baos left right and centre. But my meal from here was the best I have had in so so long. I actually told my partner it was the best takeout I have had in the last year 😅. The pork and prawn dumplings were soft, sticky and filled with flavour and filling. Literal chunks of whole prawn and goodness. The sauce was to die for (I may or may not have sipped the rest out of the tub once I had finished the dumplings 🙄). The Chicken Bao bun was SO soft and pillow like I forced my partner to touch it just to see how nice it was. Best thing was even being delivered all the way from central (I'm in Sandringham) everything was fresh and hot/warm. 100% will order again and can't wait to come in person once we drop alert levels. Thanks so much guys, very satisfied 😊👍🏻

Had the lunch combo- mean green and it was delicious. Super crispy eggplant with a good amount of sauce. The thick chips were yum as well ! Definitely recommend:)
K.
delicious soft shell crab bao 😋 but the dumplings are a bit dry and expensive
B.
We just came by for the fried ice cream but also ended up getting some baos since we were there and still a bit peckish. they have quite a few different flavoured baos as well as other food items like chicken wings and fried noodles. I had the soft shell crab bao and that was nice. The crab was crispy and the limey mayo went well with the slaw and crab. The best part is the fried ice cream, crispy and smothered in chocolate. It was served over a fried bread which was also really nice. Definitely, a must try dessert. We also tried the monkey business, a banana and walnut spring roll. I thought it was ok and was a lot nicer with the salted caramel sauce. it was almost like a banana fritter.
Not a bad option for food if you're in Elliot Stables. One of the best parts is that they do have seating in the shop if the stables are full.

Always a delight to dine here. For my nth visit, I ordered Philly Cheesesteak with chips. (I always order the chips for their spicy dip!) First time trying the flavour out and man, it was sooo good! Waiting time is pretty decent and service is commendable. They have a promo on lunch time so come by then for a cheaper and yummier lunch option.

Pork and shrimp dumplings ... good value for money i think nice and tasty and well presented.
Calamari dish has a nice coating and the calamari is tender and again good value for mony totally worth the visit. Had to go back and have more we tried the Beijing beef salad that was reccomend by the staff when i asked for something light and fresh... omg wow another great dish . Well done bao baby boa.
I totally rate this the best eatery in Elliott stables .

Love love love, this place! They serve amazing food and reasonable prices! The dumplings are delicious! I had the prawn and chicken dumplings and they were phenomenal! The steam bao buns also looked great!
I.
Our number one uber choice for bao buns in the city! The pork and chicken buns are really good, as well as dumplings :)

For pre-theatre show dinner, we checked out Bao Baby Bao in Elliott Stables.
I ordered the angry bird bao, spicy mango salad and chicken ginger dumplings and I thoroughly enjoyed every dish. The bao was adorned with sriracha mayo and pickled cucumber, in texture with the crispy chicken thigh and flavour profile of creamy meets sweet and spicy and the chilli mango salad was exquisite!
S.
Be sure to come at lunch time, way cheaper than dinner. $10 for bao and chip, exclude soft crab. Absolutely love their bao yum yum;)
L.
Fantastic south-east Asian flavours here. One of my favourite places in Elliott Stables. I can highly recommend the baos, particularly the soft shell crab (soft and crunchy) and the philly cheese steak (beef and cheese, such a great combo). The dumplings are also tasty and super fresh. They have a good craft beer list, small wine list and a “hard” iced tea with whiskey. Try it next time you’re in the mood for quick, fresh tasty dishes.

dessert was amazing. had the matcha brownie and the monkey business (Dessert spring rolls). would 100% come back.. highly recommend, very reasonable priced.
E.
Great vege Bao here, who'd of thought!? We also got hot chips and deep fried ice cream which was absolutely delicious. Not too busy on weekday evening and still good atmosphere in Elliott Staples eatery
N.
The baos here are very tasty. They have a whole lot of items on their Asian fusion menu, but I have only tried their Baos. The Philly Cheese Steak and the Soft shell crab are my favourites.
Price is very reasonable too. They do lunch deals on some days too.
R.
The Angry Bird and soft shell bao are delicious! Fried to perfection. Great flavors. We also tried chicken dumplings... my hubby was not a fan of Lemongrass/ ginger flavor but I loved it! Went there for lunch and Going there for dinner to taste other dishes !

Absolutely loved this place. Love Elliott Stables (such great atmosphere) and the food at BBB was really great. We found it by accident, but happened to be there at happy hour (Sunday 5-6pm) We had the chicken dumplings, Angry Bird Bao, Cheesesteak Bao and the Foo King Duck Spring rolls. All 4 dishes were sensational. Tried to sneak another visit in before we flew out the next day but they didn't open until 12.
M.
The Philly cheese steak bao was top notch. Tender beef, fried onions and tasty cheese sauce. Korean friend chicken was also very good with crispy chicken and spicy (but not too spicy gochujang) sauce. Food came out fast and the price was reasonable for the amount of food that we received

they are serving great food. One of the best Asian Fusion restaurant I have been in Auckland. They have a tiny kitchen you can see through and tell everything is made freshly. No microwave or big freezer for frozen packaged food. Staff are friendly and I had talked to the head chef while I was eating. I was so impressed of their passion for the food they are making. I am from south of China, they really make a twist and bring our traditional food to a different level. Definitely will be back with my family.
M.
Delicious every time we have been. Amazing philly and pork baos this time. Peanut slaw was sublime. Sweet and sour pork was light and yummy. All for $41 for two of us.
Recommend you sit upstairs in the air conditioned room away from noisy crowds for an intimate experience.
L.
This is absolutely the best place for bao buns you will find in Auckland. They put so much thought & creativity into the flavors. One of my favorite places to eat in Auckland by far. Their desserts are amazing too! And the service is great.
D.
I had the chicken Bao and it was pretty dam good, even better it was really good value at $6 or $10 with chips. My partner enjoyed her chicken salad very fresh and tasty.
S.
Little cosy place inside Elliott stables..prices are good and service with a smile..Food is prepared fresh and served hot..

I food was exemplary, I could eat there Philly Cheese steak EVERYDAY! The same taste of Philly I got from New York. Super yummy, would not want them to remove this from their Menu.
V.
Had lunch here today for the first time........the service was fast and friendly and the Philly Cheese Steak bao with fries was out of this world, I've had the real deal in the States and this was as good as that!!!! The hard iced tea is yum too.........can't wait to go back again and try other things
P.
Great bao and very tasteful chicken dumplings. The pineapple on top of the dumplings brings a nice twist.
Very cheap compared to the quality !
N.
Amazing food. Loved every dish we ordered Bao, dumplings, fries. Definitely recommend. My new fav 😊
N.
Honestly the best baos Auckland has to offer. To me, the Angry Bird is perfection between a bun. Two for $10 lunch special is unbeatable.
R.
Food was so yum, full of flavour. Fav was the Bao belly Bao! Loved the decor as well. Keen to try out the rest of the menu
J.
Always great food and service. Would be five stars but they don't serve lotus root chips anymore - they were the best side! Bring them back!
P.
Love the baos and the atmosphere at this place! Sweet and sour pork are to die for, can't wait to try out their menu soon!
B.
Had the pork bao and the philly cheesesteak bao. Pork was good but was blown away by the philly cheesesteak bao - amazing!
