Reviews of Big Tikka
J.Big Tikka is consistently high quality and in my opinion is one of the top two restaurants on the coast. It is hands down the best Indian restaurant on the coast.
Our faves are the Pahadi Palak Paneer (often a Saagwala) which we sometimes get paneer and sometimes opt for chicken, the Prawn Malabari (Andaman Jingha Malabari) is soft, juicy and full of flavour and we love the Kurkure Mirchi Aloo as a side. The coconut rice always adds to the meal too.
Would absolutely recommend, and will continue to support during these tough times so it can stay around.

N.Ordered fish and received beef, they then offered to cook the fish but that would mean us receiving our meals at different times. They initially charged us for the more expensive fish dish until we pointed this out. Then charged us for the beef dish we didn't order - finally gave us a free glass of wine when we asked for some recompense for their mistake.
Very disappointing and won't be returning.

K.I highly recommend a visit to Big Tikka, you will be pleasantly surprised. This is by far the best Indian food I've had in Auckland(and I've tried a lot). The food is of great quality with loads of flavor. The presentation is amazing, I've not seen Indian food served like this before- creative, clean and vibrant. The drinks are great, very creative cocktails. The service is friendly, inviting and attentive. Children are welcome, good family friendly environment. The decor and ambience is fabulous. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here, the food, drinks and service was outstanding. I recommend the Stuffed Cottage Cheese dish on the 'Big Tikkas Faves' menu, the fragrant flavors are magnificent!

T.We just had a sensational dinner at Big Tikka. Tandoori broccoli was a special that was just about to be taken off but they made an exception for us. It was one the best surprise meals we have had all year. We are happy there is great local indian food.
N.Theres a lot of talk about Big Tikka's takeaway serving sizes compared to other indian places but I think the different size shape (round and high compared to flat and rectangle) is fooling people. There portions were great. We ordered two curries and only ended up eating one between two adults. The naan and flavors of food here supercede any other chain indian place.. its certainly not your cheap westernised mall curry and for that we keep going back! So good!

T.Beautifully decorated and well set out restaurant. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is a good quantity but not excessive. The person serving us gave us advice on which dish would be best for us to try and his advice was spot on. A lovely place to spend an evening.
We have just been back for a birthday visit and the food was amazing. The staff are very friendly and we were made to feel really welcome. They have my wife a lovely birthday treat dessert and we highly recommend it as a place to eat. If you want a mild meal the buttered chicken is perfect it had an amazing flavour but is very mild.

P.Just had an amazing salmon dish here. Tastiest salmon ever with a Kingfisher beer. Highly recommend this place. The mango desert was great too. There was something very tasty under the Indian ice cream.
A.Disappointed choose to support local and was totally let down by the service we waited over an hour to all get drinks. Still didn't have the food menu and when we did get our food 2 hours later everything at once entrées and mains. The chefs literally saved the night the food was really yummy but being a birthday celebration just wasn't good enough and with the kids also waiting so long. We won't be back.

T.Best Indian restaurant I've been to in Auckland by far. The dishes are really prepared individually (not just meat added to pre-made sauce topped with chilis like most other Indian restaurants) and are delicious. The decor is great too. I just wish they deliver further down the peninsula!

R.This was our second visit, the service was very slow even though the place was not that busy, we had to eventually ask for service, the waitress admitted she was new and did not know the menu, the food was OK but for the prices they charge they need to lift their game, The fastest move all night was when I went to the till to pay the bill, he was there in a flash.

C.WOW!! The interior design was jaw dropping, very cultural, alive and colourful. You can wear a turban while dining or take photos at the rickshaw(taxi) . I came in for dinner, they served a poppadum and sauce.
I had the Prawn Malabari , it was the biggest tiger prawn I have ever eaten in New Zealand, it was full of flavour, right amount of heat, a bit of tanginess and it was just delicious with a side of rice and perfect garlic naan.
The Lychee Pan Patta has the perfect amount of sweetness and alcohol, it also had a full lychee as a treat!
As for dessert, I got a Mango Kulfi (ice cream) and the waiter confirmed it's home made! What a way to finish the evening.
This is a Restaurant you can have either casual or fine dining. I'm definitely a fan!
