N.Fresh, quality food done well. The owner is so sweet and genuine. Their house made chilli sauce is so good and can be purchased by the jar. Really great vibes and love the local art hung up. We can't wait to come back.
D.What an awesome little restaurant! The atmosphere is great for an evening meal, the staff is very friendly, and the meals are served on hot large plates. I have not found many decent mexican restaurants in NZ, but this place is my new favorite. Chimichanga with beef was delicious and the beans and rice were seasoned just right. Their salsa is very simple and tasty as well. I will definitely try to come here again. Reminds me of mexican restaurants back in the US.
M.SO YUM! I've been having the salad bowl once a week during lockdown. I just can't help it. It is consistently so delicious, fresh and fast. Always served with a smile. Highly recommend!
t.Really good Tex Mex food, but for some reason they use odd flavoured corn chips for nachos and the table. Whats up with that? Plain chips please.

J.If you want some classic, tasty, Tex-Mex, the Burrito House in Birkenhead definitely has it going on! Including refries and mex rice on the plate! And some chips for the table! And generous servings. And after dinner mints! Lots of different hot sauces on the tables. Also makes his own nice and hot chili sauces. Has beer and wine. Owner is super nice.
A.Super fresh, tasty, delicious. Seems taco bowls aren't available anymore which is a shame, they were so good. Everything else is just as good though.
N.I have been to alot of Mexican places and this is the best I have had in New Zealand and one of the best I've been to ever. The homemade chili sauce is very spicy and full of flavor.
O.This place is a real find! Had a really great dinner here tonight with some friends. Very reasonably priced and generous portion sizes. Food was fresh and delicious. Staff were attentive and helpful with our dietary requests. They happily made vegan suggestions and substitutes which was very much appreciated. This place reminds me of the family run Mexican food places in southern California. No fancy decor, just good, homely, generous food.

H.This place rules, but I hardly ever see people sitting inside. I'm going to be so mad if it has to shut down because you people keep going to the inferior place around the corner, but perhaps more importantly, you will have to account for your shameful culinary choices on the Day of Judgement. The large non-veg burrito with chicken was flavoursome. The portion sizes were generous. The service was friendly and professional. The sauce was hot, like your place in hell if you don't visit soon.

k.A friend of mine recommended this place to me. This place is very hard to judge from the outside, as I had passed it many times and made this mistake. I finally decided to go in as my teenager was craving for Mexican food. I have to admit it’s the most delicious home made food I have tasted in a while. The place is very clean. The service is top notch. The owners are very hands on with their service and they make sure their customers are comfortable and well taken care off. They are very polite and respectful to everyone who walks in. Every dish on the menu will not disappoint. They also make theses handmade sauces which is very delicious, hot and spicy. Their food is not only tasty but also very clean, fresh, tidy and well presented.
So if you like Mexican food with a homemade feel, then you must try this place.

A.I move to New Zealand about 3 years ago from a San Diego, a place loaded with Mexican food places. Since then there have not been too Mexican places in NZ that get a thumbs up from me because I am spoiled.
The food is Authentic, the portions generous and the people are friendly.
Outside of my kitchen, this is some of the best Mexican food I have had in New Zealand.

Lovely meal here with the family. Adapted meal so dairy intolerant son could have. Really fresh and flavoursome. Great value and excellent staff. Def best nachos in Birkenhead. No alcohol licence but actually that was a blessing!

E.I innocently ordered a small veg burrito from Burrito House using UberEats. I was not prepared. Biting into this gorgeous lil' burrito I was instantly hooked. It was so very good, y'all! I may have gone the next day to visit in person with my flatmates. The experience in-house was...superb. We were also impressed by their array of hot sauces and great value for the money. Best burrito in Auckland? Possibly....
S.Our favourite restaurant. Food is delicious and very inexpensive! Big, hearty plates of food, with 4-5 yummy chilli sauces provided at each table. Free corn chips and salsa provided as a starter. The weekly $10 dinner special is an absolute steal. Owners are truly lovely. We expressed disappointment at not being able to eat there during a birthday on Monday (closed on Mondays), and they offered to open just for us! Can’t rave enough about this place.

Very affordable, fresh salads as a side, sauces in seperate containers so nothing soggy ( I will use them again as handy size!!) even some complimentary nacho chips. Yum!!

The fresh salad is good and tasty even though it’s simple.
Guacamole is not as good as homemade but ok
Beef was very tuff but chicken was good, no need to have tough beef if you marinate with tenderisers like lemon, etc,
If the nachos were not all chips and the topping a bit dry, and tuff beef slices would have given 5 stars
Will try special nachos next time.
Cost is high for two adults and two kids over $80 for Uber eats so didn’t order again, will only order when it’s just hubby and I unless they come up with combos for families.....
