The food was all really good, nothing I was unhappy with. There are a lot of creative foods with unique flavors. The pacing of the food could have been better, we got served 5 dishes in short succession.

Amazing food, atmosphere and service. Ceviche was our favourite dish closely followed by the cabbage and octopus - although all dishes were to die for. We were a table of six and opted for the set menu which was great as we didn't need to bother with ordering and the food just kept on coming and coming!! Highly recommend and will be returning ASAP.

This restaurant hands down is one of the best experiences I've had and without sounding like a travel knob I have been in a lot of restaurants. Firstly we were running an hour late and the awesome guy on the phone reassured us that was fine and don't stress. The food was incredible - loved every dish! The service was absoutely excellent - every single person was very friendly, great sense of humour and so professional and attentive. The atmosphere was fantastic - which is why they were booked out. I highly recommend this restaurant - just amazing.

We braved the big wide world (we’re country bumpkins) and treated ourselves to a meal out with friends last night. Honestly the food was next level. Every single dish was beautiful and tasty and the wait staff attentive. We are all still discussing what our favourite dish was as they were all perfect. I would like my own bucket of the Kina butter and a never ending supply of the octopus and king fish. Thank you so much for a wonderful meal and awesome night.

Really delicious food, we enjoyed every dish. The octopus dish is on the small side and the lamb rump was so tender and perfectly cooked. We found the music on the loud side making it difficult to have a conversation. I was unable to make a booking, as they don’t answer phone or email! But still rating it a 4 due to the delicious food!

Candela is a well presented modern tapas style restaurant on K Rd that has a very cool vibe. Its dark n cool interior means you could have an intimate romantic dinner here with your significant other as well as a casual night out with a friend or a group of friends. The service is spot on just like the food. Cocktails are creative and delicious too. We ordered 6 dishes plus dessert (which we couldnt finish) between 2 of us. We wanted everything! Octopus was soft and tender, ceviche sublime, jamon that took me back to my favourite tapas bar in Palma de Mallorca...to call out a few but everything was yum yum yum. Highly recommended. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing service and food! We came in quite late, 30 min before the kitchen was closing and we got looked after straight away. Ordered a bottle of wine and the set menu, which is amazing and I can highly recommend it. A lot of food for the price! Can’t wait for them to open the bar and balcony, will be back again soon!

Every dish was full of flavour and cooked perfectly! I really loved the variety on the menu, there is something for everyone. The smoked Kina butter with the sourdough was incredible to start with, otherwise I think my favourite was the octopus. One minor hiccup was that I ordered lamb empanadas and I think they heard it as lamb AND empanadas which means we got an extra dish we didn’t need.. but it was delicious, so not a major. We also got delivered a burrata by accident that was also good - not a complaint, we didn’t get charged for it.. but we did end up with a bit more food than we could handle in the end. The atmosphere was great too, it’s a really nice vibe. I’ll definitely be coming back to Candela and working my way through more of the menu.

A stylish spanish restaurant in Karangehape road. Staff had good knowledge of the cocktails and good NZ beer on tap. Veges were roasted on open fire and were absolutely delicious. Complements to the chef and thanks to the staff for their hospitality. We had a great time and enjoyed the food. This place is highly recommended. Prices were reasonable with good sitting arrangements and nice ambience.

Took my parents for a feed here for something a bit different! They aren't easy to impress in terms of food but they were blown away with all the food here! The variety of food was amazing, unique flavours that aren't often found in NZ and all done so well! Great spot for 3+ people so you get the chance to over order and share all sorts of little tapas style bites! Highly recommend the burrata fritto and calamari on black rice! First time having a piece of fried burrata and the sweetness of the sauce worked so well! The squid ink rice actually had flavour rather than just looking black! To be fair everything was amazing!

Consistently great food, cocktails and service! Apparently Candela also has a great wine list but we prefer cocktails, and theirs are fantastic! Their menu provides for a light meal alongside your drinks or a full dinner when hungry. Don't miss the empanadas and cheesecake!

This is my new favourite restaurant in Auckland. We started with the cocktail special of the week which was a guava chilli margarita - so unique and tasty. Mainly ordered seafood dishes this time but the meat dishes I saw going to other tables looked amazing. I can't wait to go back and I've been recommending this place to everyone because the vibe, wine list, food menu and great staff make for the perfect dining experience. I hear they have a late night menu offering on the weekends and get talented local DJ's on the decks - looking forward to checking this out.

We couldn't wait to return to Candela after such a long time. We loved everything we ordered, and were thrilled to see kingfish civiche on the menu for summer - delicious! and the paella was full of flavour, as was the duck leg - another new addition. I always feel I'm being transported back to Barcelona, or some stylish moody restaurant in Europe when dining at this favourite Krd spot. Good for the soul. Keep up the good work guys!!

Fabulous! We did the 'trust the chef' option and they more than catered for us being pescetarians. Everything was delicious - incredible octopus and the kina butter was sublime as was the cheesecake. Super interesting wine list, lovely service. Couldn't fault anything. They deserve to do well.

Such a great spot! Went there for dinner on a Saturday night and everything exceeded my expectations. The food was well presented and delicious! Service was really friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was intimate and relaxed at the same time. Would definitely be back!

Really enjoyed the lamb shoulder empanada and octopus dishes. The Grilled cabbage dish was quite different and unique but just a touch too sweet for my taste. Overall very enjoyable dinner but let down a little by the inconsistent quality of the cocktails.

Outrageously AMAZING!!! Well done to the owners, chefs, wait staff, all the staff! Our first time with Candela a few weeks ago, I saw a review on Viva by Albert (eatlitfood) and booked an early romantic dinner for two. Albert said the staff are proud of their food and that just shines though, it was a food event, so exciting but also super cool and relaxing. We had the kina butter omg yum, oysters, octopus, lamb thingies, cabbage, ham hock - all amazing. Its defiantly a Spanish/ kiwi fusion with something for everyone! Enjoy!

Seriously delicious food and excellent top service. Was my 2nd visit tonight and I was absolutely blown away by the taste sensation. I go out to restaurants every week and this place has now become in my top 5. The people there are so genuine and friendly and great people. This is one of the best restaurants in Auckland and in New Zealand. I know I go out alot. 12 out of 10. Can't fault this eclectic styled, intelligently relaxed restaurant...wow.

Absolutely stunning food. I’ve eaten here 3 times since their opening and even when the restaurant is full, we’ve had excellent service and food came out quickly. Staff provided great recommendations from the wine list, which included the chilled Gamay in reminiscence of Spain. I also appreciated the delicious non-alcoholic range. Dined here early on a Friday evening and everything was beautiful ! food and wine... service... setting... would highly recommend and I will definitely be back. Also - location on Karangahape Road is fantastic ! Lots of great bars nearby to grab an apertivo or take a little stroll if you do happen to arrive at a busy time.

super delicious addition to all of the brilliant eateries opening up along karangahape! the anchovy tostadas blew me away, as well as the heirloom tomato dish. the only thing that baffled me is how we had to ask for a spoon for a couple of the dishes - the gazpacho was beautiful, but i could barely taste it as it was dripping through the prongs of my fork!
