Great customer service from Neha every time we visit, always happy to serve and kudos to the chef as well for always delivering great quality food on time. Would definitely recommend if you’re ever in CBD and crave Indian food. Bonus: great chai and they also serve thumbs up and old monk! With good Bollywood music playing around it has a great vibe.

My friend and I had dinner here the other night. The food was so great and the prices were reasonable and the staff were lovely. Especially the lady serving food was really good in greating and providing service. Nice one!!!! Will be back soon!!!!

I eat paneer masala Tikka with butter naan. It was very nice. Naans are very soft. Friendly staff. In menu you have veg. Non veg options . If u like drinks, wines, beers, soft drinks, etc long range for your choice is available. Budget friendly. Free wifi. Full marks.

I ordered the cream chicken (Chawla’s Specialty) I thought at first WOW IT IS DAMN GOOD I LIKED THE FLAVOUR OF THE BLACK PEPPER, ALMOST LIKE A TRUFFLE FLAVOUR. And said to myself that I will order again. After a week, I ordered again, staffs were good, not that I stayed long because I ordered via phone and to pick it up, but I thought the lady was fine, smiley face and I was so so looking forward to eat it and have the same experience, but it does not taste the same way I had it during the first time. It was tasty still, but not that great. I will give it another go, probably after a week or two. 😅😅

Best tandoori chicken I will give 5 star for that and the fish curry which I had from there was below average 3stars. Will strongly recommend the tandoori chicken. Yummy.

Very tasty midlevel Indian city restaurant, good okra dish, teenager loved the chicken, smooth fresh mango lassis, light popadams. The medium spicy is not too much, so go hot if you want that burning pleasure. Plain presentation and seating arrangements but good service.

Enjoyable little spot in the city centre. Excellent Peshawera naan. Good service, although the food I got (chicken madras) could be slightly better. I ordered medium spiciness and I couldn't taste any heat at all. Enjoyed my time there though.

An excellent place to treat your taste buds. A nice variety of well spread Indian cuisine with various options for all food lovers. Good selection of starters and mains. Very reasonably priced. Great ambience. The hospitable staff will make you comfortable. Keep up the good work.

Staff was nice. Meal was average. Dishes looked same colour and taste. Meal size was average. Price wise moderate for the location. First visit to this place so locating the restaurant was tricky due to its signage. May try other dishes next time to see if it's different in taste or it a standard formula.

Food is delicious, fresh ingredients and friendly service. It's got a fair amount of space as well and the skybus leaves from in front of the restaurant, so it is a very reasonably priced option to fill some time and have a good meal at the same time without struggling to find a space for your bags 😊

Entered this restaurant on a whim while vacationing in New Zealand and fancied some Indian. Was immediately greeted by a very friendly waitress who promptly answered our question about the advertised special, so we stayed. The food was great, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the waitresses were friendly and accommodating. Honestly, Chawlas ranks higher than my favorite local Indian restaurant and it's such a damn shame that we're not local, or we'd frequent this place. 10/10 would dine again.

Great portions and tasty flavors!

Just round the corner from my hotel, so decided to try out Chawlas. Ordered the Chawlas platter entree which in hindsight was excessive for 1 person cos it is large, but I have to say it was fantastic - wonderful selection of tastes and very well presented - came out sizzling hot. The rogan josh main was also good - asked for hot, glad I didn’t go for “double hot”, which was an option, because “hot” did not disappoint. The nan was beautifully cooked and fresh. Only negative was the 1 popadom they offered complimentary at the beginning of the meal was a bit soggy, but they quickly changed that. Decor in the restaurant is not great, but overall, I thought the food was excellent.

I think there chefs are very good. Last time when I visited with my friends I had delicious food over there. Good place to have Indian food with the Indian species.

Amazing place to dine in or order takeaway. Have done so many times. The atmosphere inside is very intimate and a great place to bring your date or small groups. The food quality is suburb and there is a great selection of beers/wine/cocktails. Highly recommended.

Food is good, the staff are friendly. I'm mostly impressed by one waitress. She was outstanding but I can't remember her name. She went above and beyond, which is pretty rare for a restaurant in the CBD. Food was pretty quick too. Couldn't recommend this place more

This place has the best Indian food (that I have found) in Auckland! The flavours are fantastic and they really turn the heat up, without just blowing out the chilli ratio. I recommend the Rarra Lamb - it's is simply the perfect Indian flavour moment!

Having Indian food is a treat for the wife and I, and treating ourselves in the past few weeks means a dinner at Chawla's. We've been around and we've eaten our share of Indian food as much as a non-Indian, so we are a good judge of the authentic taste, methinks. And in Auckland we'd say the food in Chawla, at least the ones we've tried, is among the best Indian food we've tasted. We recommend their creamy chicken and the lamb briyani.

Honestly my favorite restaurant in Auckland. We've been going for about two years now. Tania is an amazing asset to the restaurant! That girl deserves a raise- she's always on to it and very professional. Thank you again guys!

Really bad chicken biryani and the butter chicken was just average. The quantity of the naans was pretty good though. Staff are friendly but the taste of the food has to improve a bit.

One of the best restaurants for Indian food in Auckland. Cannot believe we didn't find this place sooner. Close to everywhere important, it's tucked away in a side street and is cosy and comfortable. Service is absolutely great, the manager was very attentive. If you're particular about your Punjabi foods- your dal makhni and your chole, excellent place to go. The lunch deals are a steal.

The food is really very good. I rated 4 as I asked for medium spicy but it was spicy. The paneer in paneer mutter was fresh so it was soft. The rice was properly cooked which I found not cooked properly at many other indian restaurants in Auckland. The tandoori roti was also very tasty and well made. You can go to this restaurant for indian cuisine when you are in Auckland CBD without worrying too much.

Chicken Korma was the best of the three dishes we tried. Didn’t have any issues with service. A few small issues prevented a 5 star, but still good experience.

The food is truly amazing! The young lady there though, the host/waitress could have been a little friendlier. I got the impression that there was something far more interesting on her cell phone.

Went for the special which didn't seem to have anything special. Trying indian food after a gap of 6 months and it didn't made me feel like having proper indian food. The gravy tasted bland, probably their customer focus might be non-indians. Absolutely not worth the money. Staffs were very friendly.

Quality of the food was amazing. But more than that I am impressed with the quantity of food. They give complimentary rice bowl (never seen that before in sydney or auckland). The staff was super friendly, made me feel like i am having food at home.
