I came here like 20 years ago and I am so surprised it still here! I lived in Hastings now and their food still as good as last time! Good customer service and still pretty cheap price compared to Hamilton yum char price!

My first Yum char experience was here & definitely was not my last. I made an order recently through phone (due to lockdown) and it was made fresh, in a timely manner and for reasonable prices. If it’s your first time - I recommend their deep fried squid, spring rolls, siu mai & prawn dumplings. They have an awesome selection of baked goods/desserts too. If you’re feeling adventurous you can try other traditional dishes - spare ribs, beef tripe, chicken feet. You can also ask for sides like white rice to enjoy with your selection of meats. They have friendly staff, a family setting & a clean restaurant. Thank you again.

Had yum char here for years. The food, prices and their staffs are always nice, reasonable and friendly. It's not fancy, but the varieties and selections are good and delicious. For Yum Char, they wheeled the selection around the seated tables. You can point and pick the dishes that caught your eyes even if you don't know what it's called. The tables are set up with chopsticks but they do have a counter near the fish tank for fork and knife, and any chili sauce that you might enjoyed with your dim sum.

The food was tasty and delicious, however sad there wasn't any chicken feet on the menu, I wanted to try this restaurant, so had yum cha!! Even got Mango peach pudding for dessert for free!☺️that's a bonus. Everything I ordered was yum. The lady was nice, Good service. Thank you Crown Restaurant will visit again hopefully you have chicken feet on the menu.☺️😍

Our preferred Yum Char destination in South Auckland. Love the prawn wontons and siu mai. Not the flashest of places, but you dont go there for the scenery. Food is good. Service is ok.

It's not the most cleanest of restaurants but the service is awesome. Some of the ladies there have been there for years. Food is 100% yum as always.

I lived in auckland for 12 years I came to this restaurant atleast once every 3rd week. Now I live in another town (home) I crave for this all the time it's the best EVER!!!

Very friendly weekend staff, wish we had found this place earlier! Very tasty, will be back again.

We ate here because of the review, pricewise is cheaper among others, staff are friendly but may need to learn to be more careful during serving, stop spilling stuff. Place may need some cleaning, food wise was good but not special. Will i come again?maybe, but not in a rush.

Called in here Monday 26 Dec 2016 with my friend Peter Tan for Yum Char lunch and was packed when arrived with screaming kids. Shocking pink table cloths and frilly seat covers were the first things to note - the decor is not that tasteful. The food was swiftly passing by so snapped up 7 dishes, the siomai (pork dumplings) were delicious and so was everything else - love the sesame balls. The bill was a bill of a shocker - forgot it was a public holiday so they added a surcharge on. ($41.00 for two). We will be back.

Whenever we can, we get "gone" to the crown, for yum-cha. When it's busy you could be waiting awhile. Word to the wise try something new, until you can get that which you want. Other than that, I love the food here.

We have been coming to this place for the past few months and I'm so glad we found out about it. It is good value for a good price. The food is always delicious and there is a huge variety. The ladies here always give us great service and they look after our family. It's one of the better local restaurants. We love coming here.

WHAT CAN I SAY? This is probably the best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been in Auckland :) Ive tried one of the best yum chars in Auckland City but this is my favourite. Service is pretty good and it was fast. I love everything we ordered especially their congee, prawn tofu and prawn balls! Portions are big and there were a lot of leftovers (to be eaten at home) ;) Will definitely come back with people we would like to share this with. HIGHLY recommended!

Been coming here for years, such a shame they have raised their prices wayyy to high, however the quality of food remains the same and the trolly ladies are always lovely.

Fresh selection of Yum char with lots of varieties. Friendly staff. Only downside is parking & the toilets, get it refurbished & cleaned please.

Average place and food overall. I found the food a little small and somewhat soggy at times. Good flavours though. The place is shabby, and in dire need of paint/ refurbishment. Staff were super friendly and great at explaining each dishes, which was a plus point as none of us could speak Mandarin/ Cantonese. Ample share parking at the back (entrance through small alleyway 5-10m from the entrance of the restaurant) and off street parking - potentially can get snapped up during peak times and weekends (we went here on Tues lunch)

It has been here at least 25+ years. Still as good as I first tasted it when there weren't many Chinese restaurants around Auckland. Yummy food and friendly staffs.

This is an amazing place, they have so many variety of foods and so delicious. They are fast for ordering and service , outstanding performance. I can guarantee this restaurant to anyone who would love a hearty Chinese meal. The pricing is reasonable to and worth it.

We like the variety of dishes at Dim Sum. The service is very good. The price is reasonable and definitely accurately recorded. The only downside is dirty toilet, needed a bug clean out and clean up.

I've been here twice. Good food, reasonable, and quick service. Suitable for family parties too! Even though the staffs can't speak very good english, their attitude is nice and welcoming, ans that surpasses the language barrier!

It has decent food and a tv which probably only has chinese tv videos because it is a chinese restaurant also I think I saw a chair for baby's which is yellow and the chairs are kind of comfy

I have been attending this restaurant for a number of years and only have positive experiences to recall. Although it may look like a scruffy restaurant from the exterior and the stairs it ticks all the boxes. Very friendly waiters, great atmosphere and delicious, fresh food! A restaurant I highly recommend!

Not enough car parks. You can try your luck parking inside the premises. Busy place. Food is good however hit or miss if they have what you want in their trolleys. Often you'll need to order your dish then wait and hope it's coming around.

I looked for this place for some time as I have eaten regularly at Yum Char Hamilton 'Waikato. I wanted the Yum Char experience again and this was recommended to me. Such a great atmosphere with exceptionally great food. The waitress spoke little English despite which we understood her reasonably well. I have eaten lunch here and took my family for dinner we arrived way early but were welcomed in with a warm reception. My favorite restaurant Auckland wide. Auckland's best kept secret tucked away in Papatoetoe not to be missed try it.

Havent been here in a while but still a good place for yum cha. Its not an up market fancy posh restaurant so if thats your thing then go elsewhere. If you are looking for good well priced and tasty yum cha then crown reataurant still does a great job of it. Gets busy tho so come early or be prepared for lots of people. Weekdays is cheaper as well

Can't complain about the food but staff there need to learn atleast basic English as its hard to communicate especially when revising the bill. Got overcharged but it's ok 👍

Still the original yum cha place to go to for lunch! Service is friendly and you don't feel rushed. Reasonable prices too. Parking onsite may be an issue on busy weekend times.

Have eaten yumcha here since the early 1990s - it's not the flashest place (no wheelchair access, limited parking, toilets are what they are, etc.), but the food is good - value for money - and the number of people who frequently eat here is evidence of that.

The best place in Papatoetoe, family always go here as its always good :) staff are friendly and very catering. May look a little rundown but it is just the front for a good food :) Would recommend!

This would be one of the best Yum Cha restaurants in the local area and always the food is fresh and comes out quickly. Parking can be difficult but the walk to get the restaurant is so worth it.

On da outside it lookz scruffy, but as soon as u enter da door n go upstairs.. wat an amazn hideaway restaurant.. 1st tym ..you hv these ladies pushn da trolleys of different food around, they stop and you just grab wat u want ..like hens feet, fried taro, sticky rice, dim sims seafood my favouryt.. i recommend this place.. il go der agen bkoz da food has no spice
