Went there for 1st time with a friend on sat night..the place is so vibrant with nice interior..was very busy on weekend night so took long to get our food on the table however food was so yum that's worth waiting. M pure vegetarian so had ordered veg tri color with extra Mexican rice and veg fajitas. I personally prefer hot 🔥...n trust me food was so yum hot was surprised to have such fingerlicking food in veg ...cheers for amazing chef 👨‍🍳 must go place for yum food vibrant feel especially on weekends

I've been to this place many times, whether to dine or just have a quick drink, and had great experiences. The staff have always been friendly and prompt. This Friday night, the entire Viaduct was packed, and my friend and I showed up without a booking to Frida's - they quickly set up a new table for us despite being packed and clearly under the pump, just as all the restaurants around seemed to be. It took some time to get menus, drink and food orders in, for a few other tables as well - but clearly they are understaffed both in kitchen and front of house, and you could see they were doing the best they could. Every encounter with staff was great, they were very apologetic for any delay and kept us updated on timings, appreciated since again we had not made a booking! The food, fajitas and enchiladas, was delicious when it arrived as usual. The only real issue I could see was that perhaps they overbooked, but even then I can't blame them. As restaurants right now need all the business they can get, I cannot blame them for taking every table they can, even if it means added pressure on their staff who are short of hands, delays and staff having to explain them to so many people. As a customer post-lockdown on an incredibly summer Friday night, I just remember that I can't expect perfection! Just happy to see a restaurant that always provided me great service and food for years is able to open after lockdown, considering all the great businesses that have been killed by the pandemic.

Good Mexican food is hard to find in Auckland so looked forward to trying this out. Mole Ribs were pretty good, seems they make their own mole, just didnt have the depth of flavour you would expect from real mole. Ribs decently seasoned. Ceviche was flavorful, albeit a little bit fishy tasting and and lacking any fresh chili. Loads of citrus. Chilaquiles was a let down, it comes with salsa verde but my god it was so acidic, seems like they dumped a whole cup of lime juice in there. Couldn't finish it was too acidic.

Was recommended to come here by our host, and found this place to be a bit disappointing. They did have a happy hour that was from 5pm-7pm which is nice. The staff was friendly but sadly I found the margaritas (classic and strawberry) to be a bit lacking in flavor and seemed a bit watered down. We also ordered guac, chips, and salsa. The guac was great and I enjoyed the salsa (there were some from my party that did not like the salsa - saying it tasted a bit like corn (?) but I personally liked it. It’s not spicy FYI). We did not like the chips though, they were a bit dry and seemed stale. Its too bad because better chips would have definitely elevated the experience! Regarding interior, we found the decor/vibe to be very cute and cozy.

Good service and location as it's situated in the Viaduct Harbour. Went here for Restaurant Month. Enjoyed the entrée and dessert. I also had the mango and coconut margherita and it was yummy. Not really much of a fan of a margherita but this one was so good. I'd go back for it for sure. They also have happy hour until 7pm so a discounted margherita tastes even better!

In my personal opinion I really enjoyed this place, all the people who works there speak Spanish, the food is tasty, is really close to Mexican food, they do their best, and I really liked, the place is great, the music too and they have a great variety of beverages especially Martinis, the jalapeño one is great, I strongly recommend this place. They are going to change their menu next week to bring more authentic food, that's great.

I went out with some of my old work colleagues and have to say I was very disappointed about the whole experience. We first arrived and the table we had booked wasn't even set up. This was fine, the staff were lovely and managed to put a table together quickly. However, they left half the table not set up. We asked multiple times throughout the night for extra forks but they seem to forget about us every time. Doesn't stop there, the wait time to be served was quite ridiculous. We had to wave down a waiter, not once but twice did our drinks get mixed up. We then proceed to grab some food and the same thing happened. A few waiters walked past, multiple times I made eye contact with them trying to give them a sign that we wanted to order food however, they just walked past. Again had to wave someone down to take our order. Such a great atmosphere of people! However, I can't say I will be dining here anytime soon.

Delicious Mexican food and lovely staff, with beautiful view of the viaduct. The ceviche was fresh and tangy, and all the other dishes were fantastic. The margaritas were tasty too. Highly recommended.

I never knew there was a Mexican restaurant in the viaduct until recently so was quite pleased when it was suggested we go here (since there aren't many options for Mexican food in Auckland). I had a great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful and genuinely wanted to give us a great tasting experience. The space itself is cozy and the prices of the food are much cheaper than I would expect in this part of town. I had the enchiladas and they were great! I'd definitely come back here again to try more of their menu!

Frida Cocina was a spur of the moment decision to lunch at and the exotic Latino staff we had waiting on us was excellent! Being sat outdoors we enjoyed rounds of sangria to wash down our Mexican dishes chicken, beef and prawn soft tacos, cold tomato soup, quesadilla and baked chicken with cactus. The food was was average however the service and beverage raised the dining experience!

I’m writing this late but last Wednesday me my partner and some friends went out for dinner and drinks at Fridas. I’d been there before and it was a good experience but nothing standout, however this visit was different. The service was honestly amazing from the start, it just made the vibe so much more positive and enjoyable. The food and drinks were also delicious adding to the experience. A special thanks must be given to our server (I believe his name was Alvaro but it might be Albaro).

Ordered Queso Fundido and the Fajitas, along with a Mexican Beer and a wine for my wife. The food was quite okish for me, was expecting some Mexican flavors n spices which I cudn't find. The drinks were quite gud especially the wine. Quite expensive for the taste and experience.

Don’t sleep on this restaurant. This is *real* authentic Mexican cuisine. It seemed overlooked among the flashier restaurants and bars around but the food and the drinks were stellar. The michelada is probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Usually in Australia/NZ it seems like they use mostly lemon juice based micheladas with little spice but this one was the real deal. Spicy, well rimmed and tomato based just as it should be. The tacos were phenomenal. Give this place a shot!

Frida’s is consistently one of my favourite restaurants in Auckland. Love the staff and they’re always so friendly. They recognize us every time we come. *Overall* I’ve found that they have the most authentic Mexican food around (based on the Mexican food I’ve been devouring for the past 28 years of my life in Texas and Mexico). Of course, if you’re ordering the obvious local dishes that satisfy a kiwi palate over the Mexican dishes then you’re going to be disappointed. The menu has a bit for everyone though. I highly recommend the pork tacos, the classic margaritas (ask for a spicy marg if you’re into that), the burrito, the salad bowl, the enchiladas, carne asada and the Beerita. They also have a variety of spicy sauces! You can definitely burn your mouth here if you ask them to make it spicy. And finally, I don’t recommend the churros if you’re wanting a big fluffy churro. They’re just okay and I wouldn’t get them again. Love this place and we always try to make an evening of it since dinner is a bit expensive.

The drinks and food here were delicious. Unfortunately the service was abysmal. We ordered 2 guac and chips to start with. They came quickly and were nice. We then asked for another one. 10 minutes later, a side of guac arrived. We clarified we wanted the guac and chips on the starters menu. Our mains arrived, we queried the guac a number of times but it still did not arrive. There were not enough staff on and they were clearly very busy. We witnessed a number of staff being reprimanded by the manager in front of us. We continued to ask where our guac was, it still did not arrive. The bill came before we had even finished mains. We said that we were still eating and may want more drinks. It was around 45 minutes after first ordering the extra guac that it finally arrived, by this stage we were well finished our mains but we still wanted the guac. 2 more guacs then arrived. When we finally got our bill, there were multiple items on it that we had not ordered. Although we were not charged for the guac that took so long we found the service to be terrible. Wait staff arguing in front of us, and then being reprimanded in front of us by the manager. Totally inappropriate. In all honesty, wouldn’t come back despite the tasty food and drinks.

It’s decent, but it’s definitely not authentic (mozzarella cheese in the tacos and quesadillas for example). Good enough when other places are full. But to be honest, New Zealand isn’t known for its food, so it was good for what we expected.
