Reviews of Gu Xiang Malaysian Restaurant
H.
The Wat Tan Hor is very nice and tasty. It has the “Wok Hei” (Wok Thermal Radiation). The Hainanese Chicken Rice sauce is nice, it would be nice if can have bigger portions.
Y.
Tried this place for the first time over the weekend as my partner recommended it after a few work lunches there. We ordered the Wat Dan Hor (rice noodles with pork, prawn, fish tofu and egg gravy), the Salt and Pepper Fried Pork and the Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice. Of the 3, the rice noodles was the best. The portion size was good and for a reasonable price and there's plenty of variety on the menu. Only criticism was that it could have been seasoned a bit more and for the Pork dish in particular, was a little too lean and tough. Might have been cooked twice as it wasn't very hot when it came to the table, as in heat.
M.
I've been here a couple of times and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food is pretty tasty and there's a good variety on the menu. The service was super quick, which is always a good thing. Prices aren't too bad and are about the same for similar food locally. Will probably be back at some point.
B.
Come here quite often if I'm craving Malaysian food. Most of their noodle and rice dishes are quite nice. I normally come for those during lunch. Occasionally come by for dinner and have dishes instead although they are available anytime.
Most of the dishes are nice but I quite like the Prawn E-fu Noodles, crispy noodles topped with gravy and prawns. I also like their Hianese chicken, amongst the other delicious dishes.
Really nice place to go for a quick and tasty meal. The service is usually quick and efficient.
R.
First time eating here and tried the pig trotter with a bowl of rice. It's served hot and the fume of the boiled spices draws my appetite a lot. Good to eat in cold Auckland weather.
R.
Highly recommend this place...Kampung Fried Rice, Gong Bao Tofu, Roti Canai and Chicken Curry is something I always order. When ever I feel Malaysian, I always go there.Terima kasih.
m.
Nice traditional Malaysia food and value.Always teeming at dinner time.
T.
Authentic Malaysian food that delighted us ! Price more affordable than other Malaysian food chain. Highly recommended !
R.
Great authentic Malaysian food. Restaurant is spacious and airy.
P.
Lovely Malaysian lunch at this simple yet clean shop near Pakuranga Plaza- recommended!
P.
The best Beef Rendang & Laksa in Auckland! So happy my hosts took me to this gem to experience my love of Malaysian cuisine. A must on a cold & rainy night. 😏👍👌
B.
We tried this place after it was suggested, and would highly recommend this place after dining here. We tried the beef rendang and char kway teow, plus a couple of other dishes. The sweet and sour chicken was a great dish to our surprise! Great service and price. Help yourself to got tea from the kettle. If you are keen on sweet tea, they have these traditional drinks on offer too. Great for big or small groups, and everything is cooked in a timely matter. Great tasting food! Plenty of parking outside in the shopping complex.
P.
Great authentic Malaysian food with friendly staff. Try out their new menu pan mee!
F.
The wat tan hor was the best dish out of the 5 we ordered. The char Kueh teow had wok hei but didn't have Chinese sausage and chives so that not authentic to me. Mee goreng was too sweet. Taste was also not authentic. Hokkien noodles was missing the crispy lard pieces. Without it it's just not the same.
v.
As a Malaysian Penangites myself, I definitely love the food here, the taste is authentic enough, portion is enormous, staff is friendly, price is reasonable, and place is cozy and clean. Would definitely recommend and come again!
D.
Excellent food and service! We will definitely be back :-)
V.
definitely one of the best Malaysian Cafe in town... the Lunch is really authentic, taste very much like many those Malaysian coffee shop. haven't tried their dinner menu, but happy with the lunch menu. definitely value for money kinda meal. not like many other Malaysian food that is OVER PRICED in NZ
S.
Very authentic Malaysian food!
C.
Come here quite often for lunch breaks with workmates. The salted fish fried rice is very tasty, especially with the homemade sambal which is fantastic. Also love the Singapore noodles.
R.
When you enter this establishment you are greeted by homely decor and the subdued murmuring of the contented clientele busily consuming the excellent delicacies on offer. A friendly salute follows and you are directed to choose a place to sit. What comes next can only be described as a culinary masterclass. The dishes are so fragrant, the sauces so cunningly spiced and the meat so tender and moist. I am dribbling as I recall the first moment the curry coated roti came into contact with my quivering taste buds. It was explosive.
I would go here weekly if it was a bit more affordable.
S.
For Malaysians who missed food from home, this restaurant is a place to go. Great menu, food taste authentic too! Highly recommended
Y.
The place was comfy and the food was delicious.
D.
We come here quite often as the food is pretty good, especially the fish head noodle soup. The wife got the soup and I got char kuay teow this time for takeaway. The kuay teow wasn't that good, not much flavor but the soup is still good.
The soup used to come in a large portion but now only single serve portion which is disappointing.
Would recommend to try tho
J.
Absolutely delicious food! Price is fair and portions are massive. The place was clean and tidy. The Staff is friendly and helpful. Five stars all around.
M.
Love the food with the sambal n chilli sauce. Generous portion. We ordered the salted fish n pork belly, tofu, sweet sour pork, cah kwe tiau n fried chicken. Really delicious.
P.
As a Malaysian, this so far is the best Malaysian food in Auckland! Very authentic! Their Han Nan Chicken Rice taste similar like what I had in Malaysia. Will try their Bah Kut Teh and Rendang next time.
H.
Best Malaysian style coffee (kopi) you can find in Auckland, taste exactly how we get back home :). Food wise is good, not the greatest as they are better CKT, BKT, fish head noodle, nasi lemak else where but you won't be disappointed. Trust me you won't get wrong with it. Recommended.
S.
Delicious food, one of my fav Malaysian restaurants in Akld. Fast service. May need to book during busy hours. Sometimes they're out if stock so it pays to call and ask if they have what you're after. Friendly staff.
S.
Authentic Malaysia delicacy.
M.
One of the best places in East Auckland serving authentic tasty Malaysian cuisine. Good price, with plenty of parking although there is room for improvement service wise, otherwise, can't fault it.
S.
We decided to go to this place to check out the food as we were craving some Malaysian food and this place delivered. We ordered the Char Kuey Teow and Nasi Lemak, and the only thing the disappointed was the meat in the Nasi Lemak dish (it was slightly cold). Definitely a place to try out.
Z.

D.
My favourite Malaysian food in the area. Big servings. Interesting menu. Great flavours
A.
Awesome authentic food. First time was by accident, but what a wonderful happenstance. Most do takeaways, but we generally dine-in, great staff and good prices.
E.
Quite yummy food. Good vegetarian/vegan options, you just have to ask the staff. They use faux meats in some dishes. I highly recommend the vegetarian 'lamb' curry.
M.
Authentic Malaysian cuisine. Love their homemade otah and glutinous rice. Laksa and hor fun are really delicious. Try their traditional malaysian coffee/tea (kopi/teh) as well.
