Five star rating on their food and service. Had our usual Amanti della Carne pizza 🍕 and it was as expected meaty and divine. Tried the Gnocconi Ripieni for the first time and it was such a warm and soft (as a pillow) gustatory experience. Make sure u leave some room fir dessert and order the Tartufo Nero (ice cream) and Tiramisu 🤤. FoodieCheapieTip: make sure to checkout their listing on first table nz to get a discount 😉

Had dinner there a couple weeks ago with a party of 16, and was blown away! It was only their second day back open after the summer break and they were outstanding! Service was incredible and attentive, food was delicious and quick and overall had such a great experience! Would 100% recommend to anyone!

I had pretty low expectations. You know, Ponsonby, right on the main street, themed place. I was ready for the usual "pretty" looking, tastes like nothing, tiny but crazy overpriced ride. BUT instead, the place totally surprised me. The staff was nice, didn't make fun of me not being able to pronounce the name of the dish in perfect Italian, the food was absolutely beautiful and the price was very reasonable. Give it a try, it's worth it.

Delicious and flavorful gurnard served on a bed of fresh veggies (spinach, courgette and balsamic tomatoes). The waitress was super kind and helped me in the impossible choice to pick a main! Pleasant chat with the owner too. I felt like home far from home. Grazie!

A cute, casual and intimate restaurant in Three Lamps. I would recommend making a booking, as there have been a few times I have attempted to walk in and they are full. This speaks to how popular and good they are. When I can get a table I am always impressed with the food and the service.

An authentic Italian restaurant, so hard to find with friendly people and exceptional food. The wood fire pizza is always a favourite (I like the Diavolo because it is spicy). Their pasta dishes are unaffected by commercialism. The beef pasta is a real Ragu, the carbonara is made with egg yolk not cream. I had the most amazing duck ravioli today. If you like the authentic flavours and ambience of Italy, this restaurant is for you.

Nice environment. Good food, very testing. We ordered a kinda deep cheese for entree ( sorry, don't remember the name) that was delicious. Portions for mains could be a little bit bigger, but still very good. Definitely we'll come back

Ordered the Caprese and entree sized gnocchi to share. Yum, but not the best I've had. Gnocchi were huge discs, not small and delicate which was different - quite heavy for an entree. Two pastas we tried was the Gusto and Al Ragu, tasty morsels and the pasta was cooked to perfection. Surprised a cabonara wasn't an option but may be due to regional cuisine. My partner has a healthy appetite and finished with a cheesy garlic pizza. I had a taste and it was delicious. Favourite dish of the night. Tried an Italian wine, Villa Maggio and it was soooo good! Recommend giving it a go.

Food 10/10! My pasta special was zucchini and prawn fettuccine, so delicious! The ambiance was lovely, like being in an authentic Italian restaurant. They have an ipen kitchen where you can watch them male pizzas and it's quite mesmerising! All the staff are super friendly and fun, they really make you feel like you're part of their family. Only negative was the small portion size of my hubby's veal dish.

Came here for my friend’s birthday and had a great time. Loved the atmosphere and music and being able to see the wood fire pizza oven. We all ordered starters, pasta, and dessert and absolutely cleaned the plates off. Would definitely come again and recommend to others.

Very nice atmosphere, food was great (we had the pizza vegetariano and nocci) super tasty. We didn't know but the place was having a live opera night. It was super busy and nice. Service was awesome too. Definitely a place we will come back!

Good quality food, portions on the smaller side, pricing on the slightly higher side. Not much parking in the area, service was good. Even on a week night it was completely packed but they don't have many takes, reservation is recommended if you are going there. Overall a pretty good experience.

I've rated this restaurant quite low on my first visit a month ago due to lack of table management and control of reservations which compromises level of customer service. Other than that, the food was great!!! Full of flavors and decent portions. They also serve fresh pasta which is a bonus! It was definitely the most memorable Italian food I've had in NZ. I did go back again for the food and in hope for improvement of their customer service which definitely has improved. A very nice lady with a french accent was warm, friendly and attentive. My first experience was incredible, there was nothing to fault with the food. This made me come back for more and to taste the rest of the wide selection of pasta they have on menu. Tortellini Porcini E Tartufo - Pansotti Burro E Salvia - Spaghetti Frutti Di Mare - Gnocchi Di Zucca. With the exemption of Gnocchi Di Zucca which was absolutely delectable, the other 3 pasta was heavy on salt. This was unfortunate but lucky for us, we ordered starter size for the Tortellini and Pansotti which was bearable. Spaghetti and Calamari in Padella was taken away to be fixed at home. The caprese salad and calamari starter is overpriced for the portion. Pane e Vino definitely have reasonable portion and well priced for these items. Tiramisu was super and made up for the experience in addition to improved customer service hence additional star has been added.

A busy, local Ponsonby restaurant .Amando and staff are very friendly and helpful, lovely outdoor tables on the street as well as inside. Our favourite restaurant and I find it hard to get past the duck on red cabbage and fine , fine mash. Interesting Sicilian wines.

Authentic Italian Restaurant with flair and delicious homemade dishes I am from Europe and visited Italy many times. If you want the real Italian experience you will appreciate this place. If you just look for fancy go to others like prego. Here work italiens, in the kitchen, Erika the lovely waitress will serve you and it is owned by Armando which is of course Italian as well. They get their ingredients directly from Italy that's why without a doubt I highly recommend this place. Here you get amazing real italien style pizza. The pasta dishes are handmade too and fresh every day. I love their gnocchi. Thank you Armando and Team for the hard work. Enjoy as a couple or even for big groups Armando and Erika will look after you. They are also very welcoming towards children and have a high chair for toddlers.

if you are looking for real Italian pizza/pasta - this is the place. Food made and served by Italian. Delicious, crispy pizza, our favorite Diavolina and Tre Signori. Great choice as well and you don't like something, no worries, just ask you waiter to omit it for your pizza. One minor minus (only for people with celiac disease) gluten free pizza takes long and is not so tasty, would not recommend. Risottos are another dish on their menu that taste amazingly. Cannot say anything myself about pasta taste - but friends liked it. Apart of great food, their have great choices of wine from New Zealand and of course Italy.

The food is good, ordered a creamy gnocchi, the gnocchi feels a bit on the soft side, could have been overcooked(?) But taste was ok. My friend ordered a pizza but it was slightly burned on the bottom. The kids fish shaped pizza was interesting. Overall, the food and service was good.

Yo this atmosphere in this place was noice, foreal tho the staff on deck were friendly and approachable as waiters should be but also wouldn't look out of place on the set of the Sopranos. The menu boasted a solid line up of starters, mains and sides, something for everyone. The value to portion size ratio was a solid 1:1. I didnt feel like I got incredible value yet didnt feel ripped off either. The flavors and presentation the dishes me and my accomplices ordered were top of the line, but anything looks and tastes better than my usual diet of frozen pizzas and migorengs. Over all I would definitely return but not if the travel time exceeded 15 minutes.

We had a great meal here - a quintessential Italian restaurant with wood fired pizza and home-made pasta and desserts. A real highlight was the cheesy garlic pizza starter that had generous chunks of garlic. The large pizzas are very sizable in comparison to many other places I've been. What really made our night was the service. Our waitress was genuine and funny and made us feel at home and want to come back. Only note was the Quattro Stagione pizza does not seem to have a full list of all the ingredients in the menu and does have anchovies and olives (could be a positive or negative depending on your preferences)

Feels and looks like a, for lack of a better term "touristy cliche European italian" the outside and inside screams it in every way possible and that's not a criticism really. It's a reassuring thing when the middle aged man who greets you and takes your order is Italian "looking" and is probably the owner of the business. The menu and food is where for me it fell off, pricing was in a range you would expect for an establishment such as this, the menu however didn't have anything that really stepped out for me at the time. If I'm honest it was all pretty cliche stuff which left me a little disappointed I've got to admit unless I'm completely ignorant of Italian food and culture. Ok sums it up for me. I Wouldn't avoid it but I wouldn't run back either.

If you're after some real and authentic Italian cuisine, Gusto delivers. There's no 'fusion-chai-latte-mambo-jambo' stuff on offer, but real Italian cuisine. We didn't check out the Pizzas, but pasta, salads and mains, which were freshly, home-made (like from la nonna) and absolutely how you would enjoy in an northern Italian trattoria in Tuscany, Piemonte or Udinese. The service was as Italian as it gets, friendly, attentive and always happy to give you a smile. We thoroughly enjoyed the 'voyage' back to Italy and only realized we were actually in Ponsonby, when exiting the cosy ristorante after a fulfilling dinner.

Always a fantastic experience at Gusto. Authentic in decor, staff, atmosphere and most importantly the cuisine. Armando is always welcoming and treats you like family whether the place is crowded or you're turning up late. The best part is the authenticity and quality of the food. Never too salty, too cheesy or swimming in juices (many NZ Italian places do this) the meals always come out fresh, perfectly presented and most importantly delicious. The wine and beer list features the best of NZ and the world, with something different (and recommended) always on offer. We've been going to Gusto for years, for us it always becomes more and more special. Bravo!
