I had an absolutely exquisite New Year's Eve dinner here. The food was second to none, the service was great - the right amount of attentiveness. So much that I decided to tip, which is not really common practice in NZ but the waitress really deserved it. Our total bill ended up being about $470 which is a lot, but for 4 courses, wine, beer, and cocktails it felt worth it for a special occasion.

Immaculately presented restaurant with good service staff but far too slow for food coming out for our corporate group. An hour after arrival and still no bread on tables. Dinner took over two hours and was not exactly good sized portions. Don't order the cheeseboard you'll get two thin slices of cheese that's all. Lovely view and staff but that's about it sadly.

This restaurant has been around for years. It’s located in the Ferry Building, top floor. Nice views of the harbour. The venue is modern feel, open planning & bright. Has an old school feel about it, with the diners we saw there. Service was ok (waitresses are young & polite) could be faster but the food makes up for that. We had starters of Wagyu Beef Carpaccio & Tempura Scampi Tails & Scallops. What a sensation of taste, these where beautiful. Then we shared between 3 the Seafood Platter, full of Oysters, Clams, Mussels, Sashimi, Prawns, Squid & Fish. All done in a different natural or with a sauce or Batter. Fresh, Lightly covered & Delightful tastes. Expect to pay $$$ for the food but we’ll worth it for the taste. Well done to the chefs.

Great family gathering for my partners birthday had the seafood platter and some of the starters all delicious, forgot to take pics of the mains but all very tasty as well the deserts were to die for and the wine list is great, finished of with an affogato and delicious port, our Waitress Charlene was amazing and made our night even better very thoughtful of her to bring out a birthday dessert after hearing us toasting on the birthday!! She is a keeper give her a pay rise or I will offer her a job 😂😂!!

Amazing service and uninterrupted of fun time at Harbourside Ocean Bar Grill (HOBG) on 11th Dec 2021 to celebrate a year of blessings. I was very impressed with the service team at HOBG that served a group of close to 20 of us patiently and attentively. Even with their masks on, I could feel their hospitality and sincerity in their service. Bravo to the team. The food was reasonably good and I enjoyed the ambience thoroughly.

We discovered Harbourside Ocean Bar Grill by accident whilst doing a staycation in the city. The experience was something we wanted to experience again, food and service second to none. During lockdown we talked about returning for our anniversary, however, lockdown continued longer than we expected. On the announcement that Auckland was moing to Red and some freedom, we had to book for lunch only 3 days past our actual anniversary date. It was exactly how we remebered it!!! Be back in 2 weeks team

A nice restaurant in the ferry building right in the middle of the city. Cosy ( we are sitting in the balcony but under the heater in the cold night) and relaxing environment to enjoy dinner with your loved ones. Good view of the harbour, fresh seafood including bluff’s oyster. Slightly more expensive but considering the food quality and location, quite worth the money.

Beautiful views excellent food and service. Craysfish was sweet but maybe a tad overcooked otherwise everything was perfect. The linguine, scallops and scampi,John Dory , side dishes beans , pumpkin and Mac and cheese were very good.Would love to come back and try more dishes.

Attended to the ‘In the Pink at Harbourside’ event. Everything we had was delicious! The service was a little erratic, but since it was a big, unusual event, it’s understandable. Everyone was very nice and any mistakes were promptly fixed. I definitely want to go back to experience the regular service.

A contemporary restaurant and bar by Auckland's famed waterfront at the quay, which serves fresh seafood and local meats. Though short-handed, service was still good albeit having to wait for orders to be taken. The freshly shucked oysters sourced locally were creamy and smooth, the starter of seared scallops and scampi was beautifully done and topped with fried chicken skin for the extra crunch. The grilled venison was beautiful - served with a blackberry gel, bitter chocolate chips, salted crushed macadamia and baby beets. Was a thoroughly enjoyable experience...

Starters came out nice and quickly, but a but of a wait for the mains and dessert.no complaints with the food, the fresh Clevdon oysters and the lamb were excellent. Fantastic service and the food was fabulous!!We were a group of 7 including 2 kids aged 11. I had the scallops as a entree and the Whitebait as a main which was absolutely delish.3 of our goup had the large steak which they said was awesome. The seafood chowder was amazing and the pork belly and sushi was also primo! We managed to fit in the petite fours for dessert to share.. Wicked!! They also have the best gin bar in the CBD so I'd recommend enjoying a great bottle with lunch or dinner before moving into the gin bar all of this with views to die for !

Was very disappointed with the prawn cocktail! ‘ organic poached prawns’ just was the frozen prawns that have the slimy texture as opposed to proper real prawns! What a nice place to dine. We went here for a birthday dinner with friends. The food was really good. We had an assortment of entrees and mains, and was cooked well, albeit it did seem to take a while to get our mains. Service was excellent and quite attentive. Dined here on 12th July with young grand daughter. We felt welcomed from the moment we walked in. Delicious food, great setting out on the cosy and warm balcony. Lovely staff. Grand daughter thoroughly enjoyed her meal and her first ever mocktail. A great dining experience, this is one of the stand out highlights of our trip. When next in Auckland will definitely make a point of dining here again.

My partner and I have just left Harbourside after a Saturday lunch date. We had superb hands on service from our waitress Nicole, a very down to earth lady, friendly, positive and honest. The experience was not great. The lack of waitress staff. We have been waiting to place an order for 30 minutes. No drinks have been offered. I had to call or search for waitress to get the drink. Normally we would order a around 14 glass of wine. But this time is only two as we cannot locate the waitress. We were 7 people. The starter of oysters and sushimi was great. The duck wasn't good at all. The desert was delicious. Bad service destroyed our lunch. I would not recommend anyone this place. It used to be very nice with great service and great food but not anymore.

Had a lovely dinner here on the balcony for my birthday - we ordered the house baked focaccia with extra virgin olive oil and whipped butter, Harbourside prawn cocktail, prawn mac ‘n’ cheese with a crayfish béchamel, straight cut fries with roasted garlic aioli, grass fed eye fillet with triple cooked chips, confit garlic, Cafe de Paris and the grilled market fish. Lovely ambiance and good service. The bar is also a great place to have drinks and nibbles.

Came here with the husband and Mum from South Auckland to give thanks to my parents for everything they've done for us. Unfortunately my Dad had passed away in Nov20 so it was a bit of a sad occasion too. My Mum has since become somewhat a hermit so we wanted to take her somewhere special. When we entered the restaurant, it felt like the Maitre D, Amanda, was looking at us up and down, judging us. She proceeded to take us to our table on the balcony with an arrogant air about her. Only one table was in use at the restaurant at the time (out of about 30 distanced tables,) and yet she took us to the one table that had a pole in front of it, partially blocking our view of the sea. I asked Amanda if we could be moved to another table where we could all enjoy the beautiful view. Amanda explained that she already had a table plan in place and that the tables were already separated by the level 2 conditions and we could not be changed to another table. I had to ask Amanda 4x to move us to another table. Especially considering there was only 1 table in use at the the time. And the restaurant was only at about 40% capacity at it's peak throughout the 2 1/2 hours we were there! Although we enjoyed our seafood platter, additional sides and desserts, our whole experience was marred by this negative service from Amanda.

A night out for our wedding anniversary. It was a cold windy night where we were seated iutside on the deck. Drafty. Waiter was nice after I said I was cold and offered a nice blanket to keep warm during our meal. However service was very slow. 30 minutes to deliver a glass of wine. 1 hour to get our starters. And another half later to get out mains. Can't fault the food as it was excellent but it was luke warm by the time it got to our table as we watched the waiters figure out table numbers and walked passed twice with our food. We were never told about any daily specials and watched a lovely snapper dish served to a table nearby. Overall food excellent. Service was distinctly average.

This is not cheap but delivers with the top location overlooking ferry activity below. We booked and requested a balcony table - glad we did as they are a very busy establishment. Superb and relatively simply presented sea food and the service attentive and informative without being over the top. My mother and I both had grilled flounder which was beautiful cooked and was delicious. This is a special occasion restaurant- ask for an outside table in summer but the inside atmosphere is also OK. The restaurant was so 'special occasion' we returned again.

While on vacation in Auckland we dined at Harbourside. The cocktails were wonderful and the food was excellent. The fish was very fresh. One friend had sashimi and sushi, I had grilled tuna, and another had shrimp and scallops. Everyone commented on the quality of the food. We sat on the terrace and it was nice to see the ferry boats going in and out of the wharf. It is worth the cost to have such good food and a quality dining experience.

Didn't experience the greatest service. Waited unattended to for about 5 minutes in the foyer, nobody saying hello or telling us that we'd be attended to soon. Very few people around. Some service was slow while at our table. Somewhat unfriendly. Food delicious but small servings. Expensive but that's expected. Overall not a great experience for our overseas visitors. We all said it was a bit odd. Would have been much nicer to go to an average restaurant and be recieve the usual good kiwi service and food.

Four sides available which were a little boring for my taste.

The food presentation was excellent. The two dishes we order flounder and steak. The flounder was filitted by the waitress at the table excellent job. The staff is friendly and very helpful. There food was delicious!! I had the lamb it was so tender I could cut it with a spoon, and the macaroni and cheese with lobster was out of this world. This restaurant is in a fabulous location by the water and offers a wide and varied menu. An aspect that made the evening special for us was the service. The waitress was engaging and did small things to enhance the dining experience such as explaining the differences between the many Sauvignon Blanc on the wine list and providing a little more desert when sharing. Would recommend for a pleasant night out.

Beautiful views over the harbour and ferry landings. Great service from our maitre de and not too noisy. Having a cheese selection for a desert was also a plus. Unfortunately quite small serving sizes and no choice or selection of salad / summer veges and pricey for a set menu.

We decided to go there as we had a gift card and celebrated a late anniversary with a nice dinner. Locationwise the restaurant is fantastic and has a lot of potential. The starters were enjoyable and nice. Particularly the mushroom linguine, although it was spagetthi more so then linguine. The main course we got a John Dory entire fish to share. Presentation was unpleasant. It looked as though someone used a sledgehammer to seperate the meat from the rest, creating a large gap. It is not the easiest fish to dish up looking pleasant as a whole but I wish I had taken a picture as it looked simply messy. The meat itself was very nicely cooked and had a a simple but good taste, the capsicum spread alongside is a bit overpowering for my preference when served with fish. We got surprised as we were deciding on what desert to get with a compliment of the house desert wishing us a happy anniversary. A very nice and attentive touch. Service was slow yet servers were very nice (wait staff was attentive and tried their best, despite it being obvious they were understaffed, always polite and helpful). It was rather obvious though that there was not enough staff on which was surprising to me given the reputation this restaurant seems to have in Auckland. All in all I expected more after hearing a lot about it being one of Aucklands best restaurants. It is a nice restaurant but nothing out of the ordinary aside for the location.

Location. Location. Right over the ferry terminal with lovely views. But be warned, bring both credit cards. A switched on manager with years of experience, a wait staff that were polite. The staff were attentive, and the seafood was extremely fresh. The grilled calamari and scallops on the seafood platter were divine. But they overcooked the linguine in my seafood marinara. Frankly, I had high expectations from the reviews ... so I'd say Harbourside is good but not great.
