M.I,came here early for an appointment, so casually walked in. Not a big place, with a long teppan table, sitting rather cozy. But food is beautiful and reasonably-priced. Mine was served within 8 minutes, the yum yum not as good as my favorite Daikokou Takapuna, but cooking much better. I enjoyed my quick lunch. Parking around New Market? Well, you know the issue.
D.Heizo is my favorite teppanyaki place in New Zealand! Nothing can beat the customer service and the quality of the food! We keep coming back and if I could, I'll eat here every week. The staff are friendly and accommodating. They always have a smile on their face and are hard working, very clean and tidy. No photos of food cause it was too good to stop and take a photo. Top quality veggies, prawn, steak and fish. I don't typically like salads but I ate theirs and enjoyed it. Highly recommended!

E.One of my favourite restaurants. Service is always excellent and the food is so consistently tasty. I love getting the steak set. The prawns with the yum yum sauce is a must have! The steak is so tender and the garlic crisps are a great garnish. I normally have a peach chuhai (they have other flavors but this one if my personal fave). The chef on the grill is very attentive.
J.5/5 might be a touch generous in terms of food but it was pretty good, the service was great and the value of the lunch menu is spot on. So 5 it is.

A.Quite disappointed with this little restaurant. We were hoping for a teppanyaki experience but there was almost none. The chef just cooked the meat and fish, no entertainment whatsoever. It was not the cleanest and it was super hot.

S.We came for dinner and was the first group of guests in the resturant where chef only cooks for us at tappanyaki table. It was early summer and the place is steaming hot. The whole experience was bad because we weren't able to enjoy our food due to intense heat. In the end we decide to have cake outside because we just want to escape the place and get some breeze outside. We were told the aircon is broken. The place is too small to operate without aircon.
K.Today was the first time that hubby and I came to dine at Heizo and it was to celebrate our 44th month being married. It was exceptional, they did not disappoint and we cannot wait to go back and dine here again! Please book well in advance as they only have one teppanyaki table and they get very busy because of the wonderful food, service and skilled chef!
Ambiance 5/5 – I’ve never been to Japan, buy hubby has and he said that it is very similar to some Japanese restaurants he’s been in. It’s very authentic he says! I very much enjoyed how intimate and cosy the place is. Loved the interior and the Japanese décor, Lanterns, very cool tapestries by the teppanyaki area and some samurai photos and a sticker on the wall. The mood lighting is lovely and not too dark that I couldn’t see.
Food 5/5 – For tonight, we ordered the “Taste of All” set menu. Our most favourite was the Teppan Prawn Appetizer. Mmmm so creamy! Everything was well seasoned and the food came at a great pace! We didn’t have to wait too long for the food to come out, but it didn’t come too quickly that we couldn’t enjoy our time there. The salmon sashimi was nice and soft. The beef was cooked just right! The Matcha ice cream and vanilla ice cream were great endings for the meal (Add extra for matcha) You’d think at firs that the portions are small but we were nice and full towards the end. In our view, the portions are perfect. The only improvement I can think if is to undercook the Ocean Treasure Salmon Filet slightly so it won’t be too dry, but this is just my personal opinion. Everything else was cooked beautifully!
Staff and Service 5/5 – All staff members we came across were kind and respectful! The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was kind and provided me with the information I needed before booking. The staff members serving us tonight were also very friendly and were all smiles! They were attentive and filled up our waters as soon as it was finished. They checked on us and asked us if we wanted more rice for our seafood and beef. The chef was very talented and enjoyable to watch! We booked too late but we were lucky enough to be seated somewhere near the teppanyaki table. He looked so passionate and bubbly and I honestly felt like I was kind of still part of the show haha. Can’t wait to be seated in front next time. You are awesome, chef!

R.Have had a very nice teppan Taki dinner. This is a small restaurant best to book to ensure a table. The meat was very succulent and nice vegetables. The prawn were YUM. I had banana teppanyaki with the largest accompaniment of ice cream ever. Cost $$

our sons 13th birthday here. We absolutely loved it and so did he. Amazing Tepenyaki Banana, Scotch Fillet... all the food was amazing and the chef fun to watch.
J.First time visitor and totally loved this place. Great space to go with two people - can sit at the counter true teppanyaki style - or for groups of up to about ten at a long table.
Highly recommend the set menu where you taste everything. There was nothing on this menu that was not worth tasting - I would have been happy with any one of the things as a main dish. All prepared and cooked beautifully, for a very reasonable price.
Friendly and helpful staff, nice atmosphere - I will definitely visit again. :)

R.Omg the wagyu beef is so good, if you havent tried it yet, you MUST! Everything on their menu is delicious, dont waste your money going to other nearby restaurants seriously. Lunch is only $15 and you get SCOTCH FILLET, and all these other stuff like salad, rice soup etc.

C.Tasty and delicious. Went for the tasting teppanyaki platter and it was heaps of food. Had seafood, chicken, steak, sashimi, salad, soup, rice... gosh. Staff were great also. It's a homely family owned restaurant.

The restaurant is surrounded around other businesses and has an easy accessable car park 1 minutes walk from the restaurant. Based in a small family type environment it is child friendly and the chef and wait staff are polite. Such great food!! Bless

The thing that made me quite uncomfortable was that it can get quite stuffy and slightly smokey in there because of the teppanyaki. C.If you want that home feel Japanese food then this place will give you that. Tucked away in a corner nice and cosy. It's not the flashy amazing deco place. But the chef he has that feel good person that you get. Food is ok.

I.I am very picky when it comes to Japanese food but I have to say they have it just perfect at Heizo. I go there regularly and they keep the food quality at the highest level without exception. If you haven't been to Heizo this is absolute must try place for anyone of all ages.
