Reviews of 1947 eatery
We came here for dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we had a magnificent time. The ambience was lovely and decor was well thought of. The food we had was extremely tasty. Service was also professional and they’d happily recommend you food options if you get a bit stuck like we did. Overall, great dining experience in Indian cuisine. We highly recommend this place! 5/5.
Food, atmosphere and service was reasonable. Nothing to complain. I am sure they forgot our main course and we had to remind them twice to get it. We were also forced to order before 9:15 in the banner of kitchen closure while they continued to take orders past 10.
We were visiting NZ from US and out hotel manager recommended this place as one of the best. We were so glad that we followed his recommendation. We were a party of 12 with 6 of them young adults. Every one of us really enjoyed each of the dishes. Everything was very well prepared. The hostess advised us that the Malai Chicken would take some time as it was slow cooked and it did take time but well worth the wait. We didd not have any cocktails but lassi's and mocktail and they were great. They were out of Chai which was a bummer. But the appetizer and main course was simply awesome. Even the kiddo's could not stop raving about the food, for them it was one of the best Indian restaurants even comparing to bay area!!. Would highly recommend, but make sure you have time and are not in a hurry. Desserts were amazing too. Only regret, we did not have the time to visit one more time :-). But there is always a next time. Ohh and ambience and decor are wonderful too.
Excellent food, excellent atmosphere and super selection of cocktails…or just have a beer from the tap! Love this place!! Never had an urge to work through a menu but I think I’ll continue to move through the menu selection!! Great place!!
THE BEST COCKTAILS and showmanship.. amazing service! We love coming here and not only are the cocktails delicious but also so unique!!! Definitely underrated if you are in the area check them out!!! Not far at all from Skycity! 10/10
In terms of my personal preference , I found the food to be slightly bland. If you’re not good with spicy, this place will be a good spot for you. The food itself wasn’t bad hence I’ll give it four stars overall . I know a lot of folks who would enjoy having a meal here. My boyfriend enjoyed his butter chicken and I thought it was good as well.
The place is also very creative with their cocktails and they tasted great and unique , matched the cuisine. Two ladies that served us were lovely and everything came out quickly from the bar and the kitchen :)
Our dinner at 1947 was pretty tasty and while the staff made a mistake (they didn’t bring our naan for a long time), they made up for it by serving us Gajar ka Halwa on the house so that was a pretty sweet deal! Overall, the food tasted Indian rather than Pakistani, which makes sense given it's an Indian restaurant. The restaurant is very well decorated and I loved the rickshaw they have on display at the front of the restaurant. So nostalgic. However, I did feel that the portion sizes were a bit small.
Return visit for a pre-show meal and drink. The cocktails are totally worth it. Great flavourful and presentation The meal was lovely my favorite was the soft shell crab. The service was slow they looked understaffed.
The standout dish was definitely the Charcoal Paneer - it was exceptional! We also thoroughly enjoyed the Dhal Makhani, Rumali roti, and Jeera Rice. The Amristari Aloo Kulcha was decent, but not quite as impressive as the other dishes.
Food and atmosphere were absolutely lovely, service was great and our waiter was very friendly and helpful with providing suggestions for food and what sides to have alongside our mains. It’s not the cheapest place but definitely worth the money, even our cocktails were amazing and beautifully presented. I couldn’t recommend this place more especially if you’re looking for authentic Indian cuisine.
