Authentic Japanese taste and plates are beautifully presented. Love their open kitchen design where you will be able to view how your food is prepared and even interact with the chefs. Highly recommend their dinner sets. We ordered 4 different dinner sets and all of them are beyond my expectations. Asian Taste dinner set came with sashimi , tempura set, teriyaki chicken and had both rice and udon in smaller portions, it brought us variety of flavors and is definitely worth the value. Kiwi dinner set and the Dinner box were both wonderfully prepared with lots of different flavors. We didn’t know which one to start with. All of them are really delicious. We were also surprised to get two mains in our Teriyaki Dinner set. Both the chicken and fish were freshly cooked and very tasty. I couldn’t recommend this place more. Just wish that we could have the same kind of restaurant in central Auckland as well.

Such an amazing experience here. Everything was tasty and well presented. Staff were attentive and friendly. Just consider booking a table as it can get quite busy, and there can be a bit of a wait, but well worth it.

Very prettily presented dishes, a lot of attention to details into lunch special. Portion size is smallish. Traditional flavours, no surprises. The decor is a bit dated. Attentive staff and services as you’d expect from Japanese eatery.

Authentic Japanese food with reasonable prices and great dinner sets which offer little bits of different things. The fish is fresh as can be, the tuna tataki is mouth watering and so delicate. The fresh salmon spring rolls are so delicious and light. I recommend the kyoya delight, you get a bit of everything for a great price and will leave you feeling satisfied!! The staff are super friendly and I have to rate it as one if the best Japanese restaurants in Auckland, with decent prices for good quality Japanese food!

Had a wonderful meal at Kyo-Ya, the food was served quickly and the service was especially friendly. At $30 the standard dinner set is reasonable value, it includes a nice selection of different foods with some very fresh Sashimi. There are a few other dinner set choices, pictured is the Kyo-Ya set. The interior is clean and cozy.

Food tastes great and at a very good price - I would recommend ordering the lunch special. Staff are friendly and service is great. The restaurant is well lit with much natural light which adds to the atmosphere.

Along with the wonderful sushi you get a friendly and traditional atmosphere. There was a great vibe and lots of regular customers. We will go again. My advice is to call in advance for a reservation. The place always fills up, especially on the weekend.

Me and my family really enjoyed the food. We went there lots of time already and their quality still the same. Staffs are really nice, especially today! the young male staff are really nice, he knows we are sharing the ice cream so that he gave us two spoons, which is really warm! :)

Just another 5-star rating and they deserve it! One of the best in New Zealand. Run by Japanese. Serves more than just kiwi sushi. Agedashi tofu and their tempura are extremely tasty. Pescatarians will leave with full stomaches. Vegetarian options if you are ok with dashi (fish broth). Kids menu features Japanese food.

Really enjoyed the food, had a dinner box and tasted great, very well presented. Kids meal is good to, no complaints from the little ones. Only improvement would be to supply a chilled glass with my beer like you get in japan.

Absolutely excellent service with attention to detail. We get the Kyo ya delight box usually which is delicious and the portion is generous. My partner who is celiac is very well looked after. Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants in Auckland.

This is a great Japanese Restaurant!!! Food is super delicious, prices are great and service was great also. It was my son's birthday, I had forgotten the candles for his cake and thought oh well, not much I can do but they bought out my son's cake with sparkling lit candles without me even mentioning it to them. I will be returning and also recommend.

The food looks like works of art and is always delicious. Been coming on and off for about 5 years and always look forward to eating here. Only fault I can find is they never give you enough water, you always have to ask and its never a bottle for the table, but a single cup of water that you have to keep asking them to refill. So a tip, dont come in thirsty. Staff are always lovely and its nice to sometimes sit at the bar and watch the chefs create all the food. Wait times a little longer than usual but it's always worth it!!

Ordered the dinner set. Was filling with the large amount of variety. Hot towels brought over before the meal started, servers were friendly. Food took a while to come but we were able to watch it prepared fresh. Fish tasted very fresh. Tempura extraordinarily light, better than most I've had.
